Being new to the area, I basically picked Coristine out of the phone book and asked my realtor if they were reputable. When he said yes, I scheduled them to change the locks at our new house. The locksmith showed up on time, took all the locks to their shop and returned with them re-keyed (all to one key, very convenient.) He was friendly and professional, and I felt the price was right. Cannot recommend this business for vehicle lockouts. I needed a locksmith to get the seat of my moped open since I accidentally locked my key underneath it. I called up Coristine and was told he would be there in just a few minutes. He took well over an hour to show up and I wasn't that upset on the timing considering he may have been stuck at another job or something and I desperately needed the service. He tried two of his lock picks for about 30 seconds and gave up immediately saying "it's not gonna happen". He made absolutely no effort. With an attitude told me "I don't even know why I took this job" and took off. Luckily wasn't charged however. read more

I'm a student at Salve Regina and this week I was in a hurry and locked my keys in my trunk while I was loading stuff into it. I have a 112 year old house in Newport with the original door and original heavy brass egg shape door knobs. One day while leaving the house I found myself with the doorknob in my hand - it stripped off the spindle. I couldn't find the parts at any of the big name hardware stores (Ace, Lowes, Homedepot) or even at two smaller mom and pop places. These guys get an A+. Called them(picked them out of the phone book as well) after locking my keys in my neighbor's house whom I am pet sitting for(They called the home owners for confirmation). They were here in no time and opened the door quickly. The actual lock had to be replaced and they put in a new door knob with lock. When locked out of your car and requesting a locksmith I suggest getting an estimate of the cost before ordering the service. Otherwise once the locksmith arrives and completes the work you're somewhat limited when they request payment, unless you're willing to make a scene. Yesterday on Sunday morning at 11 am, Coristine's employee Dave met me at my locked vehicle and got the door open. He requested $150 and would not offer a discount because of my AAA membership. To his credit a poorly trained AAA affiliate had the first try at opening the door, but refused because of the soft top convertible did not have a frame around the glass and he was afraid he might break the window. Dave was persistent and tried three different ways before succeeding. Whether or not $150 is a fair charge on a Sunday for a challenging car which required an hour of effort including travel time is outside of my personal experience. In the future I will establish a range of cost before ordering this kind of service. read more
