First time going here and I must say I had so much fun painting my portrait. The atmosphere was inviting. The painting instructor was patient with us and helpful. I wasn't sure how my painting was going to turn out but trust the process lol. I was surprised I did pretty good and was happy with end result. I will be booking another paint class in the future. I can't say enough wonderful things about Corks and Strokes. I was having trouble registering for the class because I was doing something wrong and I messaged the company and the owner was very responsive and helped me register. I had a fabulous time at the Corks and Strokes Paint night. The instructor, Sage, was one of the best. She was very personable and set the tone for night. She was available to answer questions and refill supplies. Her pace was perfect. I had wanted to do this particular painting for a while but I couldn't find anyone to go with and I was a little nervous about going by myself. I felt relaxed and totally enjoyed my experience. I tried to resolve this issue privately but never received any response from the owner about my experience. Hi Deanna, My friend Angela invited me to join her tonight for painting class and we did not have a good experience with Lily as the instructor. I have been to several classes with my friend but tonight was more stressful than enjoyable. Lily rushed the entire night through the painting while at the same time telling everyone to take their time with the painting because there was no rush and that she gets paid by the hour. Then two customers came in after we started class, and she was rude to them by saying class started at 7pm and they had to pay online. She was not helpful to the two customers, and they eventually left because of her rudeness and the class was not full. Again, she continued to rush through the class not really giving good instructions on how to mix up the colors. I had to ask my friend Angela several times because Lily was pretty much almost done with her painting. She even walked over towards my friend Angela and looked at her painting telling her it does not have to be perfect, and she eventually kicked us out tonight. We were so behind on the painting because she rushed through the steps and at the end of the class, we were the only two left trying to hurry to finish our painting. Lily said to us well ladies I must put you out now! I was so surprised that she said that to us, and my immediate response was that this was my first time ever being put out and Lily's response was like yeah. Lily was in such a rush to leave tonight that I even had to ask her if I could use the restroom, or do you just have to leave right now? My friend Angela and I thought we were in for an enjoyable painting class, but it was so stressful that I told my friend that I will not return for another painting class. We felt that our paintings were incomplete, and we had to create our own steps to attempt to finish the painting. I am not sure if Angela will return for any future classes, but I will not be returning because I can find a better way to spend $30 and two hours of my life without the extra stress of a painting class and rude instructor. read more

i attended C&S as part of a group activity. the business is located on the second story and one must walk up a long flight of rather narrow 20+ stairs with a single handrail on the left side. each step is somewhat small and my size 10 men's shoe size dangles slightly off the edge. i should add that this outmoded building has NO elevator. upon arrival i saw groups of participants appearing happy seated at a couple of rows of tables in a well lit room facing easels with painting canvases. the chairs had no back supports. although i didn't measure the horizontal diameter of the actual seats, its diameters seemed awfully small appearing only 10-12 inches. i explained that i have moderate to severe lumbar disc degeneration. prolonged sitting without comfortable back support and alternate standing would be problematic. given the lack of reasonable accommodation for my condition, there was no way i could participate in this activity. i am frankly surprised that a business which one would think would be progressive was so behind the times. the Americans with Disabilities Act passed half my lifetime ago in 1990. i've always been an active individual, mountain biking 3000 miles yearly, jogging, weight lifting, coaching baseball and Special Olympics.... but when i left C&S this evening, everything seemed depressing. read more

I was able to attend the "early bird special" which is $20 and starts at 3pm for a 2 hr paint session that includes the canvas you take home once complete and a instructor that helps you paint the master piece along the way. I personally think you can't beat this special. The cool thing about this place is that it's byob (bring your own beer, wine, snacks) The instuctor was very nice and helpful with any questions you may have and makes you feel super comfortable as well. Some of the world's best paintings were created with a combination of talent and alcohol. The concept of this place is to combine painting and alcohol in an effort to unleash your inner Van Gogh. I figured that I could make up for my lack of artistic talent by compensating with a few bottles of wine, but alas, that did not happen. Still had loads of fun, though. Basics: 21+ over painting class that lasts about 2 hours. You BYOB (wine and beer only) and snacks and they provide the canvas, paint, supplies, and instruction. The instructor will create a painting step by step and you try to follow him or her. In the meantime, you sip on your adult beverage and snack at your leisure while following the painting instruction. What I did: I tried to paint a peacock. My mother looked at it and asked why I tried to paint a blue chicken. The instructor did a great job explaining the techniques and helped when he could. I just suck at painting. The event was BYOB and snacks, so I couldn't complain about the food. It got messy when I tried to snack with paint on my hands, but I managed. The venue itself is small and can get crowded if the event is full. There's limited room for both art supplies and snacks. The instructor plays music in the background the entire time. Some people were frustrated because they couldn't concentrate. Other people tried to dance to the music like they were in the club. Some people got lively towards the end when they were at the end of the wine stash they brought. Others stayed dead serious and focused on the art of painting. Be prepared for a mixed crowd. Overall, this was a good way to kill part of a Bako Saturday night. I'd do it again. read more

It was really fun! The teacher put on music. People brought wine (they have a wine bottle opener). Corks and Strokes provides aprons to keep paint off your clothes and a restroom to clean up in. AWESOME. The absolute best way to spend a Friday night with friends. Very social, engaging, and just a blast. First experience doing paint night for me. Went with several people who have been to others, and even they said this was head and shoulders above everywhere else. Plenty of space to work. Able to bring your own booze of any variety (we brought a cooler of beer, lol). The girl leading it (Nyoka?), was so great. Gave us much more time than was slated. Very patient with everyone and very kind. Great background music. 11/10 all around! read more
