WOW. What. A. Find. Having to kill some time and in desperate need of Wi-Fi, I stumbled across the Corner Market after finding other options had their doors locked/no dine-in (stupid COVID). Sometimes when you make a wrong turn, you end up making a turn in a better direction. What an INVITING space right across the street from the Franklin County Courthouse. A welcoming, open space with high ceilings and modern decor, the Corner Market is offering up morning and afternoon specialties, with a full bar to boot! Like I said, I was just in need of Wi-Fi, but a cup of coffee was welcome to ride shotgun. A large cup of dark roast for just $2.50? Seattle would charge you double that, and their dark roast isn't even as good as the Corner Market's! An array of fresh-baked muffins teases the eye at the counter, so hey, I threw in for a blueberry muffin. BEST muffin I have ever had! (not like I keep records, but it was AMAZING!) Claire (sp?) was super friendly, shared the Wi-Fi password with me, and delivered big city product with small town charm. The space is socially distanced, has comfortable options, and even a fireplace. The menu has a number of standard selections and the pricing is right - but the VALUE is huge! Park on the street, walk on in, get one to go, or stay and soak up a great coffeehouse experience.

Cute little coffee shop across from the beautiful old courthouse in Ottawa, KS. We were in town for the Lagerhead Marathon. We ordered breakfast and coffee. Both were great! We had some breakfast tacos (highly recommend!), bagels, and avocado toast. It's not a super fast place as far as service goes..., but they were fairly busy while we were there. It was a great little find!

I really love this place so far. It's clean , the staff are friendly, and the food is delicious!!

Cheese toasted ravioli-delicious but super hot!

Ate lunch and it was fantastic. Went around 2ish and it was nearly empty so the service was prompt and kind and we really enjoyed the stop. We both got the Gobbler a hot turkey and cheese sandwich with lettuce and tomato, got the chips with salsa and guacamole- store bought taste but decent, the cheese ravioli was delicious-highly recommend, and some beverages- local lager and a vizzy hard seltzer. They had fountain drinks and coffee plus a full bar. Grabbed a cold brew to try tomorrow. I gave it four stars because I prefer a sit down style restaurant but this 'corner market' grab and go hang out style place was fantastic for what it is. And even though they serve alcohol it is very family friendly. They even had Hallmark Kaleidoscope art packs for the kids! Set your expectations and check it out!

Pretty place very clean. Egg bowl chef uninspired, eggs overcooked, potatoes and peppers undercooked so it was too dry. Delicious coffee.

Brand N Iron Bar and Grill - Huge side salad

While visiting a friend in Ottawa, KS, we had dinner at Brand N Iron Bar and Grill (now named Brand…read moreN Iron Country Grill), a local favorite. We went on Saturday night and it was packed! We had to wait until guests left, but they are so quick in bussing tables that flow of guests were continuous. The ambiance was somewhat country/western style, the wall of "Brandings" of local Ranchers in the area was amazing, as if it was a tribute to them. Love the vibe, it was apparent to me that this was a very supporting community. Every customer that came in was known to the owners, if not, they were treated with very hospitable service. It wasn't too long that we are finally seated. We started off with drinks. While others had beer and fountain drinks, I had the Kansas Sunset Cocktail and it was very refreshing for the Hot Humid Kansas weather! Seeing that portions were huge, we passed on appetizers and went straight to the Main entrees. Ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich, Chicken Friend Steak Dinner, and the Barnyard Battle Dinner. Each came with 2 sides, their side salad was big, also came with 2 servings of crackers. We also got Mac & Cheese, and loaded baked potatoes as sides. Very generous with the butter for the baked potatoes, I also liked that the sour cream was Daisy, and it was individually wrapped too (my first time ever seeing sour cream like this)! Food was abundant and delicious! The Barnyard Battle is an excellent choice if you want to try both Roast Beef and Chicken Fried Steak. The Prime Rib was tender for the sandwich. I was so bummed that Prime Rib was only served on Thursdays. Hope the owners would consider making it a regular item on their daily menu. After that hearty meal, we were treated to slices of homemade apple pie (a la mode and served warn) and chocolate peanut butter pie which was shared by all of us. Those pies was a delicious way to top our dining experience. I was told it was the owner's mom's recipe, and it's a MUST have! Highly recommend if ever you find yourself on HWY 59 in Ottawa, KS! The restaurant may be easily missed from the highway because it's behind the Shell Gas Station. The parking lot is gravel but plenty. It also appears they are expanding the front outwards that you just have to go through it to get to the entrance. Special shout out to owners Aaron and Lindsay Nichols for their hospitality and keeping Brand N Iron Bar & Grill a great place for locals and non-locals to dine. :)

This is a right priced steak joint with all that down homemade cooking. The way it should be. Lots of different types of seating - bar, comfy chairs and table with chairs in a space that will hold about 80. The drinks are a little spendy about $16 and no happy hour pricing. I had a stirred dirty vodka martini. It was good but I prefer shaken martini that skates (iykyk). My friend ordered an fireside old fashioned. The rum made it sweeter and the cinnamon stick was a nice touch. The menu offers several old fashioned and martini options. They also offer some lite bar bites for snacking. If you live in Olathe and like cocktails this is definitely worth a stop. If you don't - it's quite the drive and there are other bars probably closer and just as cool.
