In Ottawa, KS by the Franklin County Courthouse is this little gem. Coffee, coffee, coffee runs thru my mind when I am out exploring. This is a well lit, big windows, open spaces vibe coffee house. The noise level wasn't loud or close to it. There is a bar, coffee and tea, and sandwiches. I ordered an Everything began and Garden Vegetable Cream cheese bagel with added lettuce. There wasn't a line so I decided to take it up a notch. I was shocked with about 5 different cream cheeses to choose from. Check out the lights, windows, and the high ceiling look. I was wanting to chill solo today so I went to the back room. This is where I took the pics. They support small artists and businesses; fun to see what will be displayed in this back room. There is a coffee roaster here too! Marais des Cygnes has cool merchandise to sell besides beans. Clean restrooms and the tables/chairs are well maintained. Back room can be reserved as well. Great for solo, catching up with small groups, or possibly cramming for exams. Not like cozy fall asleep comfy but open well lit feeling. Parking on Main St but better to park on the side (courthouse side). 2 entrances. Another plus is the cashier didn't try to push for a tip (kinda makes me feel uncomfortable when a place asks). Instead I found the nice old fashioned tip jar. Downside: food can take a really long time to arrive (that was my past experience here but that was 8 mo. ago). Conveniently located and very cute inside with plenty of space for your needs. I stopped after a work event in the early evening and was able to find an outlet easily close to a table. The music was subtle and not an overbearing so it was a great space to work or do schoolwork or have a meeting. All of these things were happening while I was there. I ordered a Chai latte with almond milk and the Clubhouse salad. Both tasted great and the salad quality and quantity surprised me. It tasted very fresh and they make their own ranch, which is always a bonus! I received great customer service while there. When I'm back in Ottawa, I will stop in again. read more

I do recommend this place. The coffee is fantastic, the employees are very nice and helpful, and the ambiance is great with rustic tables that are spaced to allow for conversation amongst that table. The breakfast options are great and the food is fresh and clean. However, the "wrap" that I had was simply a salad in a tortilla blanket. No meat was present on the "pork street taco" wrap. WOW. What. A. Find. Having to kill some time and in desperate need of Wi-Fi, I stumbled across the Corner Market after finding other options had their doors locked/no dine-in (stupid COVID). Sometimes when you make a wrong turn, you end up making a turn in a better direction. What an INVITING space right across the street from the Franklin County Courthouse. A welcoming, open space with high ceilings and modern decor, the Corner Market is offering up morning and afternoon specialties, with a full bar to boot! Like I said, I was just in need of Wi-Fi, but a cup of coffee was welcome to ride shotgun. A large cup of dark roast for just $2.50? Seattle would charge you double that, and their dark roast isn't even as good as the Corner Market's! An array of fresh-baked muffins teases the eye at the counter, so hey, I threw in for a blueberry muffin. BEST muffin I have ever had! (not like I keep records, but it was AMAZING!) Claire (sp?) was super friendly, shared the Wi-Fi password with me, and delivered big city product with small town charm. The space is socially distanced, has comfortable options, and even a fireplace. The menu has a number of standard selections and the pricing is right - but the VALUE is huge! Cute little coffee shop across from the beautiful old courthouse in Ottawa, KS. We were in town for the Lagerhead Marathon. We ordered breakfast and coffee. Both were great! We had some breakfast tacos (highly recommend!), bagels, and avocado toast. It's not a super fast place as far as service goes..., but they were fairly busy while we were there. The double chocolate muffins are worth a 20 mile detour. O, Wait, I drove 20 miles four different times to get one. (I was staying at Pomona Lake) The muffins are delicious, and nice and moist. I also had lunch there once, great sandwich, and breakfast another day, excellent sandwich. I would give this place a 6. read more

Great spot in downtown Ottawa. Super clean and beautifully done. I had a bagel with cream cheese and a dirty iced chai. The bagel was nicely toasted and had a ton of cream cheese on it. I'm glad I elected to hang out inside and eat it versus trying to eat it in the car. Worth a stop if you are anywhere near Ottawa and looking for a quick bite or a coffee drink! read more

Ate lunch and it was fantastic. Went around 2ish and it was nearly empty so the service was prompt and kind and we really enjoyed the stop. We both got the Gobbler a hot turkey and cheese sandwich with lettuce and tomato, got the chips with salsa and guacamole- store bought taste but decent, the cheese ravioli was delicious-highly recommend, and some beverages- local lager and a vizzy hard seltzer. They had fountain drinks and coffee plus a full bar. Grabbed a cold brew to try tomorrow. I gave it four stars because I prefer a sit down style restaurant but this 'corner market' grab and go hang out style place was fantastic for what it is. And even though they serve alcohol it is very family friendly. They even had Hallmark Kaleidoscope art packs for the kids! Set your expectations and check it out! read more

I just moved here and this is my favorite place! They have some of the best coffee and they have really good food. It's hard for me to choose. So far I've had the breakfast burrito with sausage and the brunch bagel with turkey on ciabatta and I was impressed. I highly recommend and I'll be back! read more

It's great to sit outside on the covered patio enjoying our food. The staff brings us our food when it's ready Everything is pretty much made to order. the food was good, and I enjoyed the sitting area by the fireplace. But the incessant, loud, Jesus music was a put off. I think this cafe would be better with some light, NOT SO LOUD, country music or ambient music. Next time I guess I'll bring my ear buds, if even that will help against the loud music read more

So far I've had the nachos,break which,matcha tea,avocado toast. I can say confidently the nachos are pretty good. The break which is okay it lacks taste and flavor so if I had to scale it I would scale it 4/10 don't get me wrong it's not nasty it just lacks flavor... the matcha tea. The matcha tea is subjective fully depends on your preference my personal opinion is 6/10 and now for the avacado toast... it's quite weird only comes with one slise of bread and has a weird consistency and weird seasoning... after tasting it a flavor of spice comes with it? Not sure what exactly the seasoning is but I assumed it would just be avacado not seasoned avacado... over all rating 3/10 read more

Delicious cocktails, modern vibes, and quality food. Hubby and I stopped in after driving to town for El Sol and finding them closed. We had gin and tonics, a Cuban sandwich, and a margarita flatbread. All were absolutely wonderful. That said, it's evident the service is still evolving and that there's a lack of experience from management down. We would have stayed longer (We wanted to try the nachos - they look amazing!!) but felt second fiddle to the manager(?)'s training efforts behind the bar. She was too busy putting on a show while the rest of the staff seemed afraid to move except at her direction. read more

Pretty place very clean. Egg bowl chef uninspired, eggs overcooked, potatoes and peppers undercooked so it was too dry. Delicious coffee.

Visited here while in town to see family for a cocktail. It was a great spot with good cocktails and a beautiful setting. Liked it so much, we came back for coffee and breakfast the next day. Coffee is great. The bagel sandwich was ok, not the greatest but certainly a good breakfast. Staff is friendly and know their way around a espresso machine. Terrible in store service. Ordered my food to-go and had to wait in line for 20 minutes just to get it. So basically there is no point i ordering anything to-go. On top of the order being completely wrong and even missing two items. To add the cherry on top, one wears a mask in there. Will not be going here ever again. read more
