We transferred to Cornerstone Christian Academy from a different private school in the area and we are so, beyond happy with our choice. Cornerstone offers the balance we really were seeking between academic rigor, fun activities and play at school, and amazing extra ciriculars directly at the school. I literally cannot express enough how grateful my family is for this school and church!! We've been a part of the church for 15 years and our daughter graduated from the school (8th grade) last year. Before attending the school our daughter had been bullied in elementary school and was timid and lacked confidence. CCA is run so with so much love for every single student that it transformed her life. As a parent I've been on both sides of kids not getting along and was very pleased with how things were handled, even when my child was the one needing to apologize or change her behavior. Any time there was even a hint of kids treating other kids badly it was handled IMMEDIATELY, professionally, fairly, and with an incredible amount of love. My only complaint is that I WISH they had a high school so that I could keep my daughter there longer. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this school. I have a prek and 4th grader that have attended Cornerstone since they were a year and a half. The teachers are amazing, and their focus on God is incredible. I love that the class sizes are small and the teachers and staff actually care about my littles. We absolutely love this School. My son has been attending since he was 18 months old and is now in Pre-Kindergarten. At cornerstone I know that my child is not just in capable hands but loving hands. Every teacher and staff greets my child as if he were their own family. I love the "Love and Logic" discipline they use to help children reason through their problems and come out with solutions even at a young age. All the teachers at the school are trained in it and are phenomenal at keeping their composure in situations that I know I would probably lose my cool. They use a program called Hi Mama to send updates (at least for the tykes program) I get a couple pictures a day as well as notification on what my child ate, how long they napped, and potty updates. I love getting updates throughout the day. We crack up because he loves the Magnet Tiles and 70% of the time the picture is of him building something incredible with magnet tiles EVERY DAY! He is a creature of habit. They of course get him to engage in other activities. Outdoor play, Sensory Tables, Crafts, Reading, Dancing, etc. I also love that the teachers will do Science projects with the kids. I think its important to instill a love of Science at an early age. Anyhow our experience with the Tykes program has been wonderful and honestly it isn't much more expensive than most daycare programs I have priced out. But we feel confidant that we are getting a higher quality program with fantastic, loving teachers and a quality, well thought out curriculum. In response to some of the negative reviews I have seen below I don't think those apply to the school any more. They have put a lot of effort into getting various certifications. Multiple teachers have also been getting new certifications/degrees over the last couple years. They are constantly doing training Too. And while it is true that there are a lot of family/friends of the pastor working at this school I don't feel like there is anyone working there that isn't well deserving of the position. They are all hard working and love the kids and very much qualified. read more

For the first 3 years the school was amazing, the Pastoral staff is superb but in the last year the school has neglected taking actions against bullies. My 6th grade son got assaulted by an 8th grader and the answer we received was "That can not be true". We feel that there is some racism on one of the members of the staff because every time our son brought things to her attention she dismiss him including one time when our son got hit with a lunchbox on his head. The school has some great teachers that we will never forget but also has members of the staff that are not willing to protect our son. Just in case you are wondering if my son was the problem, he skipped 3rd and fifth grade due to his academic excellence and has always been a straight A student. We love Cornerstone but we love our son more and today we are withdrawing him from the school due to the excessive bullying that he has endure this year with no-one caring about it. All we want it to hear today was "We will make sure this will never happened again" instead we just received "I can't believe that's true". One day Cornerstone is going to have a student suffering serious consequences for ignoring bullying. Before Christmas vacation another student withdraw from the school due to bullying and the member of the staff that deals with this issues ignore the situation because the victim was not white. read more

Great school! Our child started in the middle of the year, but the students and staff here never made her feel like she was behind or an outcast. The class sizes are small, so everyone is close to each other. Teachers are able to reach out to you with concerns and we are able to reach them just as easily. The communication between the school admin office and the teachers with parents is exceptional. Ms. Kaye, the principal, is very approachable and involved, I never met a harder working principal. In November 2020, I scheduled a tour over the phone with Cornerstone to check out their Elementary school program. My daughter was due to begin kindergarten in the Fall of 2021 and my husband and I knew that we wanted our daughter to be in a private school. Prior to my tour appointment for CCA, I had already toured St. Christopher's Catholic (virtually), Merryhill Elementary School (virtually), Challenger School Los Prados (in person) and St. Anne Catholic School (in person). The school does not look much from the outside but upon entering, I was greeted by a very welcoming front office staff. My tour guide (can't remember her name at the moment) is in charge of the curriculum selection for the school. She gave me a very thorough and detailed tour. She showed me all the areas (apart from the preschool since I was there for the elementary school). She gave me an insight as to what they were doing to keep the children and staff safe during the pandemic in order to be able to stay open all school year. Unlike CCSD schools and charters, CCA was still doing in person learning and stayed open all 2020-2021school year. The school has an impressive dance studio, beautiful chapel, playgrounds to accommodate all ages and more. When our tour concluded I knew that I wanted my daughter to go to school there. I was that impressed not only with the work they do with the children but with the overall feeling that I had throughout my tour. It was at this time that my tour guide advised me that when the time came near for kindergarten open enrollment, my child would have to be tested to see if their rigorous curriculum would be a good fit for my child. The children in their PreK program had an automatic reserved spot but if I wanted her to go there, she'd have to be tested. She handed me a packet with all the things she would be tested on for me to work on with her at home. My daughter was no where near ready, so I asked for information about the PreK program. The Preschool Director, Ms. Benson (ahhhmazing lady), gave me a quick tour of the preschool side. She brought my daughter and I to one of the preK classrooms and it was one of the best classrooms I have ever been in. My shy girl was completely engaged with the whole room and the teachers and the students were so kind to her. Needless to say, I signed her up for their PreK program that day! My daughter is currently in their Kindergarten program and she is thriving and getting a great education. We look forward to many years with CCA. This is one of, if not the best K-8 schools in Las Vegas, NV. One of the best kept secrets is they also house the CornerStone Performing Arts Academy, (CPAA). I recently took in their production of Aladdin. It was outstanding. They use a video wall for backgrounds and their lighting and sound system are nothing short of awesome. But, the singing, dancing, acting, and musical presentation was blow you away professional. I couldn't believe these we youngsters. This speaks volumes toward the overall performing arts curriculum at CornerStone Christian Academy. What a great combination of academics and performing arts. We found this school after having a bad experience with another school. When we called on the phone, the staff was extremely polite and very informative. We met them in person and had an amazing tour of the school and realized they have a really nice campus and amazing staff. After our son had been attending Cornerstone Christian Academy at Cornerstone Christian Church for preschool and the first half of Kindergarten, our family fell upon financial hardship. We informed the school December 5, 2016 about these matters and that we would not be able to make sufficient payment until the end of January after the new year. We spoke directly with Rita Kay and asked if we could withdraw our son at the time of winter break so he would have a smooth transition into the holidays and it would make it easier before we informed him that he would no longer be attending CCA. We had asked for the principal Ms Debbie Kay to contact us so we could work something out, but she would not come to speak with us or call us back. We were informed by Ms Rita that payment in full for the past month would have to made or we would need to withdraw him immediately. As we had already mentioned we had fallen upon hardship we were left with no choice but to withdraw him December 5. When winter break was over and we called them to get his records to transfer him to CCSD, they told us that until payment is made in full that no records would be released. Understandably, we enrolled our son in school without the records so he could continue his education. Today, January 21, 2017 we received a letter from Cornerstone, signed by Rita Kay, informing us that Cornerstone Christian Church/Academy/Preschool will be filing a lawsuit in small claims court on February 15, 2017. No payment arrangements were offered or allowed, only payment in full. I suppose I am taken aback. A christian fellowship, followers of Jesus, a group of people who are supposed to be of the same body that we am a part of, are going to take a family to court during a time of financial hardship. I am sitting here right now, trying to imagine Jesus, Himself being counsel for this move. I do not see Christ in this but abuse of a 501C3 non profit suing already struggling people to make sure that they receive every last penny they can. The teachers here are great individuals with a passion for teaching children and shepherding them towards Jesus. The administration, does not show the compassion of Christ and displays the behavior of a FOR profit enterprise. I would not recommend this company or school to anyone. This has been the least compassionate "christian" organization I have ever had the unfortunate opportunity to deal with. read more

Highly frustrating experience with Dean. Lowering self esteem behavior and passive aggressive actions. I never understood why an adult would actually engage in a power struggle with students rather than teach by example and encourage always to be better.Other parents at the time with same experience and removed their children as well. I went to this school when they were still at First Presbyterian Academy and followed them to Cornerstone. So from preschool through middle school. I absolutely adore this school! A lot of teachers are no longer there since I graduated in 2003 but there are still a few. When I decided to go to public high school I was about 2 grades ahead of every else. The people here are very nice, but it is not challenging academically. Everyone gets good grades, regardless of the quality of work turned in ( or not turned in!) My daughter became lazy because she saw how low the bar was set . We want her to strive for excellence and find satisfaction in a job well done, but her efforts at CCA were increasingly minimal because kids that didn't do the work were still rewarded with good grades. Then we got a communication from the teacher full of run-on sentences and poor punctuation. Checked our daughter's Language work and found much of it had never been corrected and errors were not caught! Turns out the teacher doesn't have a bachelor's degree! Needless to say, we left CCA at semester. My daughter was sad because she liked it there, but we feel it is not a strong school academically. read more

We've been informed directly and through email, by management including the senior pastor Greg, that they do not care about nor do they value family values. We've been yelled at, by staff and Greg (believe it or not) that they don't care. All they want is your money. Our niece goes to school here and we were privileged to have an opportunity to visit. The faculty are amazing! If we lived in Las Vegas this would be the school we sent our own kids to. Among the faculty we met we were amazed by Dr. Raffail, Mr. Patzman, Mr. Hicks, Mr. Hauguel, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Rigoni, Mr. Holstead, Mrs "G", Mr. Whiddon, and everyone else we met whose names have slipped our memories. The principle, Mr. Whiddon, and his staff ONLY allow you to drop off your child and leave immediately. We have been told that we are not allowed to stay for 3 minutes to love our child and give him to assurance. They have even threatened to drop us from the school if we do not abide by their verbal rules. We have even asked for the guidelines/policy that says we have to immediately leave and have been told by the principle "there is no policy". They want to be a "Christian" school but don't want the parents to love on their kids as a Christian parent should. They have their values of Christianity all messed up. read more
