Think twice about enrolling here - it is not what it seems! Initially, we were very happy with New Horizons Academy. My middle school-age daughter really enjoyed going, and we loved the small class sizes. She went her entire 6th-grade year with no issues. I was the President of the PTO and spent hours of my own time and hundreds of dollars to support the school. This year, she had a few minor issues related to her autism and tic disorder come up that were completely blown out of proportion, and within a month she ended up being kicked out. She was not a bully and not violent. They did very little to work with her, and when we requested supports and accommodations they were refused. We have a pending discrimination case open with the state of Nevada and will be filing a complaint with the Nevada Department of Education. We are devastated with how this was handled. Though they claim to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for all students, this was not the case with us and it has happened to other families as well. Be wary of this school! read more

My son has been attending New Horizons Academy for the past two years. The teachers and staff are fantastic. My son has gained a lot of independence and knowledge. Their after school art and cooking programs are top notch. More importantly, the environment is so welcoming and loving. Many changes have taken place over the past year. I did like the office staff last year, and when parents heard we were getting pretty much a full staff this year, many of us were worried. I was personally looking into other options for my youngest son. But I decided to give it a shot since we live so close. Miss Elizabeth is the new director. I've seen many changes she has made for the good! The pricing is very affordable as well. I was just told they are now assembling a PTA panel for the school, which I didn't even know was a thing for a preschool. My son is in the 3 year old class and has Miss Bri and Miss Miranda and both ladies are AWESOME with the kids. Every single day my son tells me how fun school was, what he learned and how he's mad I picked him up "early" even though I pick him up at 3:45. Miss Chelsea is in the 4 year old class and it's her second year. My 5 year old had her class last year, and she is super sweet! She tells him hello every single day when we pickup his brother. I've named a couple of the staff, but everyone I've talked to there are nice and are helpful. I'd definitely recommend this school to parents who are looking for affordable childcare and good teachers and staff who care! read more

Moms and dads always inspect your child before and after school and always be aware of what is going on with your child at school!! After eagerly waiting an entire year (we were #60 on the waitlist) to get my autistic son into New Horizons Preschool, he attended his first day Monday. As I was picking my son up, both teachers notified me that he had a scratch on his finger and that they took care of the bleeding but that they had no idea what it was from. As I was walking out of the classroom, I noticed a bruise and when I looked at it closer, I realized it was a bite mark from another child. He also had multiple scratches all over his arm all the way up his shoulder and blood on his clothes and hands. I walked back into the classroom and asked BOTH his teachers what had happened and both of them told me that they did not know that he had bruises or scratch marks up his arm and do not know what happened. They also told me it was because he didn't cry or scream, mind you, he is nonverbal and when he is in pain he only winces and sheds a tear, he doesn't scream or cry out loud. They notified us that they would "review the tape" and that they would call us later. I was on my way to pick up my daughter when I called my husband to tell him what happened. He was upset and told me that he would follow up with the school after we hung up. When he called, the school's assistant director answered the phone and told him that the director had left for the day and that there was a "little altercation". She refused to connect him to the school's director's line as she had "left for the day" and stated that all she could do was file a report. He asked what they are going to do about this incident and the assistant director initially treated it like a normal incident, expected my son to return to school the next day and went about it as a "business-as-usual" attitude. He responded to her that this was not an acceptable answer in which she replied with the words "it happens," "there's nothing I can do except file a report," "you can choose to unenroll him and pick up his things," and "what would you like me to do?" She NEVER ONCE APOLOGIZED, showed ZERO SIGNS of concern, and after several failed attempts of asking to speak to the director and asking what they would do about this, my husband called the director's line (a number which the director herself texted him on) but the assistant director answered and replied snobbishly "I told you the director is gone for the day, why would you try to call this number?" and she hung up. She then proceeded to call me and at the time I was out picking my daughter up from school so I could not answer my phone so instead, she left me a voicemail. The voicemail stated that she had spoke to my husband, unenrolled by son and banned my husband from the premises claiming verbal assault. We would have never expected such a HORRENDOUS experience from a private school with such UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF and the most OFFENSIVE AND HEARTLESS assistant director, especially towards a disabled child and his family! It wasn't until an hour later that the teacher directly reached out to me and apologized for the incident, explaining the story of how the altercation unfolded and what she did to de-escalate the situation. The teacher said she would speak to the directors directly as she does not understand why our son would be unenrolled when we were acting as any normal caring parent would when their child has blood and bruises on them that the school supposedly had no idea about. On top of this, the other child's parent was not notified and WHO KNOWS what the other kid could have been sick with at the time he bit my son and broke skin. GROSS! We took our son to urgent care immediately and was prescribed medication just in case. What a NIGHTMARE! COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE, LACK OF COMMUNICATION, AND INCOMPETENT EMPLOYEES at New Horizons Preschool! read more

Do Not Enroll Your Kids. Our special needs kids are not treated with kindness or understanding and are not monitored for appropriate behavior and dangers. I will be contacting the Nevada Board of Education. My child (middle school) was put in class with elementary kids. My child was verbally abused and bullied by the music teacher without recourse. My child was sexually harassed by at least 3 students I know of without recourse. And the final choice to immediately pull them. My child was sexually harassed and physically assaulted (choked and hit) by another student and the school did absolutely nothing. I still have not heard anything from the school and it's been 4 days. read more

Autistic 4 year old son was injured during class (bruising, bloody hand, scratch marks) yet no staff contacted the parents. Upon picking him up, staff seemed surprised by such markings and injuries and said they would "check the tape." When speaking with assistant director Alison, she used the verbiage "little altercation," "it happens," "all I can do is file a report," and "you're more than welcome to pick up his things and unenroll him" showing no empathy, concern nor ever apologizing. We asked who would take responsibility for such negligence and requested to speak to the director Gina, to which Alison stated that Gina had left for the day, that she was in charge, and that all she could do was file a report." We attempted to call a number that Gina once texted us on however Alison answered the phone and said "I thought I told you Gina left for the day. Why would you still try to call this number?" Shortly after, Alison left us a voicemail stating that she has unenrolled my son and that I was banned from the premises. Reports of this incident have been filed through multiple channels in hopes that no other child or family gets this sort of discrimination, negligence or mistreatment. Absolutely shocked that somehow such an unprofessional, incompetent and immature individual can be allowed to hold a leadership position to make such life changing decisions. My son unfortunately now has to restart the process of being enrolled to a school by joining the bottom of other schools' waitlist to get his schooling and therapy. read more

I have 2 children that attend New Horizons currently and I can tell you that my 2 little ones are tough cookies but the staff as New Horizons are very patient and caring and make sure that they get the proper attention needed to rise to new heights. I have a very challenging son, now high school age, who has attended New Horizons since first grade. Each child has an education plan that takes into account the student's needs. Teachers and staff are always available for updates to the plan. The students have many different challenges but the classes are small and the teachers come up with creative ways to meet each student's needs. read more

They don't deserve the one star. My children attended this school and was bullied by teaching staff and when I stood up for my kids the teacher tried to bully me ( that didn't work) needless to say they are not there anymore. The teaching staff plays favorites and are literally allowed to mistreat children. If your kids have learning disabilities or autism take them to Clark county you'll save yourself over 1,000 a month and have more well adjusted kids... Trust me.... The worse school ever! read more

I am a student who attended this school from 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. This school has a lack of good education and it also has a horrible learning technique. Most of the staff are nice but, there is a few people that have given me some issues. Some of the teachers can be a real pain but, one is just so awful! The school is not going to give you or your child/children a great education. In my own words run! Don't come to this school it is not worth your time.
