My niece graduated from here and all I can say is that she is prepared for Bishop Gorman. The family that runs this does a top notch job. All three of my children went to private school in the Bay Area and I would not have hesitated for one minute to have sent them here. The commitment to true learning of Science, Mathematics, reading writting....gee what a novel idea....is top notch. Their aint no woke CRT or Gender studies here...as that stuff will not further your career in general. There is true love for the students and the student body here. read more

Great school with two sons having graduated in 1994 and 1999. Holding our youngest back in Kindergarten paid great dividends. He went on to board at the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA, South Carolina on scholarship, and an MBA from New York University. Boarding School representatives touring the school commented it was the first privately owned school of its type. read more

I am not one to write reviews but I absolutely had to write something about Las Vegas Day School because the school has blown me away! My son, who just entered the third grade is a transplant from Los Angeles, California. He's been going to Montessori school all of his life and just the thought of streamlining him into a private, more traditional school, scared the heck out of me! After interviewing 5 school here in Las Vegas we chose Las Vegas Day School and it has been the best decision! The staff, the administration and the Teacher are utterly phenomenal. There is no favoritism or additional donations allowed. My Son's teacher has gone out of her way to make sure that my sons transition is as smooth as possible. She's offered to meet with him before school for additional help and even sends home fun assignments so that he can grasp the concepts a bit easier. If you are looking for a school that promotes life skills, education and encourages structured independence, this is the school for you! Our Son attended Las Vegas Day School for 3 years (Middle School). He recently graduated and I am now getting around to writing the review. This review is for the Middle School only. I can't sing enough praises for this school, I will try to break it down as best as I can: PROS - Strong academic program. They challenge the students and prepare them well for High School. Our Son is in Spanish 2 as a Freshman in High School because of their program. He was also able to get into all of the top classes with ease because of the program at LVDS. The academic rigor here is high....if you don't want your kids to have a lot of homework, then this is not the school for them. They will challenge your child and teach them how to succeed. - Caring teachers & administrators. They really care about the students here. We were very involved with our Son's education and met frequently with his teachers and counselors. They knew him by name and truly cared about his well being and progress. - Beautiful, new facility. They built a new Middle School building which opened in Fall of 2009. It's a state of the art building with large classrooms. - Tradition. The school has been around for decades and is one of the most respected schools in Las Vegas. When your child attends this school, it gives them an edge for admission into other great schools. - Discipline. They teach and guide the students to learn how to become academically disciplined and socially respectful. - Small class size. They keep the class size to around 25 students. - Money isn't a factor. Everyone pays the same tuition here and monetary donations are NOT accepted. This means that a wealthy family cannot influence the school in any way. The other great thing is that they don't require parents to fundraise or pay fees for their children's activities. Unless it's an optional activity that's not part of their core activities, you won't have to pay a fee for participation. - Safety. They provide a high level of security in the playground and office buildings. They don't allow strangers or parents to walk on campus without proper approval. Since the school also has Pre-school through 5th Grade, this is very important. We always felt like our Son was safe at school and there were never any incidences for concern over the 3 years he attended. CONS - None......seriously, I couldn't think of one. Will I return? We only have one child, but if we had a younger child, we would send him/her to this school. As a student that has attended this school since preschool, I can safely say that the staffing and teaching methods are absolute shit. All the five-star reviews come from parents, teachers, and staff, and not the students. Strange, right? Firstly, although it may not seem like it, there is a racial hierarchy that no one talks about. Friends groups tend to separate by race, not hobbies, interests, etc., and if it is separated by those things, you are considered the outcasts. Teaching methods are out of date and teachers do not take into consideration student's mental health and personal life issues. Teachers load essays after essays and so much other homework that most of the time is not explained properly. By the time I was done with my middle school years, my mental health was terrible. I was stressed and straight-up depressed. Counselors say that they'll help you but in the end, they threaten you with detention saying that we can't be kids. Teachers say that they want you to talk with your friends and then split you up so you can never talk to each other again. My friend that currently is enrolled in the eighth grade has told me stories of things that happen at school, and frankly, it sounds like nothing has changed. He has a few things to say. Firstly, he says that some teachers are terrible while some are amazing (the ones that are terrible make up the majority; 6:9). Also, he would like to add that if you transfer halfway through the year, you will suffer. It's either you get accepted or never get accepted. If you are introverted, I wish you luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor. Most students are extremely spoiled and do not have any respect for others. What I would like to compliment though, is the campus and the few teachers that actually cared for me. Congrats Las Vegas Day School, you have invented a new kind of stupid. read more

Left after only two months in. I truly wish I could give them zero stars. The administration is awful! If you don't agree with them you won't last long there. They have their head so far up their butt that they do not have the kids best interest at heart. The admissions director and the head director are some of the most unprofessional people I have ever met. Safe yourself the headache and go somewhere else. read more

I just read the previous one star review by Crystle B and am really shocked by how someone could look at such an AMAZING school and totally "not get it". We have had both of our kids at LVDS for the past 3 years and could not be happier with the school. The quality, talent, and commitment of everyone we have interacted with at the school are SUPERLATIVE. Are there the occasional "bumps-in-the-road"? Of course. Has the school always done their best to make things right? Absolutely! In my humble opinion, there is no better option for a FANTASTIC educational experience in Las Vegas. read more

My wife and I started sending our daughter in kindergarten. In her first year we were blown away with her academic progress. Compared with the last private school she was at for pre-school, the Day School is far more academically rigorous. All the staff we have interacted with have been amazing. This is only our second year at the the school but so far I think its FABULOUS. They really push the kids at a young age to be independent and responsible. The curriculum is much more advanaced then what my child's peers are doing in public schools. There are lots of extracurricular activities which I think are essential for a well rounded child! read more

We have attended this school for 6 years and have been nothing but happy! The teachers are amazing and so loving towards the children. After reading a post by Annabella P I had to comment. I am an alumni of LVDS and I stayed and graduated from eighth grade, something I am very proud of. The academic program is challenging but it helped make me who I am today and I wouldn't have gotten as far in my schooling as I have without it. The administration, teachers, counselors and dean do not tolerate any bullying or harassment of any kind including cyberbullying that occurs outside of school. LVDS is a fabulous school and Annabella P. is way off base. I can't say enough great things about the school when I am asked about my elementary and middle school education. My daughter is currently attending 4th grade at this school and we are very happy to have found such a gem. I really don't understand why someone can give only 1 star to a school where the academic curriculum is exemplary, where the teachers are very considerate and treat all students with respect, and always encourage them to do their best. Their academic curriculum is very strong, and yes, they assign homework but I've watched my daughter grow into a very responsible, studies/academic oriented little girl. She loves the school. Her reading skills are unbelievable and all thanks to this school. The administration, all I have to say is they are excellent, whenever we have a question, they have responded the same day and they are always kind. Is it perfect? of course is not, nothing is, but we can't think of a better educational option for our daughter. Oh, and the price/tuition is right. We are very happy here. read more

Elementary school is good but middle school is not so good. They gave my brother at graduation a salutatorian award when he should've been given a valedictorian award which is unacceptable. read more
