For me , the face of this company is Chris. I called the company branch in Burbank and what I got was an amazing experience and absolute help. I had concerns regarding my health insurance and how to navigate through the complicated avenues. I had a recently had terrible interaction with my long term (over 20 years) State Farm agent this week and after deciding to sever my business relationship with him, I'm contemplating doing this glitteratzy wave thingy, while looking him squarely in the eye without uttering a single word...because you know, women should be quiet and all. 20 years with him and he left me without Ca Earthquake insurance when I swapped to another company better suited to handle only my short term vrbo rental needs. I intended on keeping my car, home and home earthquake insurance and my $3 Million umbrella policy with him. I mean, I was actually without earthquake insurance for 6 weeks at my beach condo in San Diego because of this guy. Unreal. During my time trying to fact find as to how and why that could happened, he asked me if I could stop talking so he could have the floor.......crickets. "Sure," I finally said. He said it was up to me to know that if I cancelled the home owner policy I wouldn't be able to have freestanding earthquake policy. "Hmmm" I finally said, breaking my mandatory "silence." "After being with you for well over 20 years and now being 72 years old when was I supposed to take the insurance training to learn YOUR job??!?" Enter in Cornerstone Insurance. Nick came to my rescue and within 24 hours I had new earthquake insurance and will be firing State Farm. Im thinking of glitter bombing his office and having my friend video it as I hold a sign that says "You are fired!" Nick was kind and efficient and listened and didn't talk on top of me. Got nothing but amazing customer service from Ian Martin at Cornerstone Preferred Insurance. We initially went to them because they were a Dave Ramsey Endorsed Local Provider and we can see why. We used to have 21st Century auto insurance and had many issues with billing and customer service. One of which was getting monthly notices that our insurance was going to be terminated if we don't pay the balance. The problem with it was that the balance wasn't due yet and we were enrolled in automatic payment. So we decided to look for another provider. Ian has been really helpful in getting us a plan with comparable rate and coverage as well as making sure that we had everything we needed to get the discounts that we were eligible for. I am so thankful for making the switch and so impressed with the effective communication that I've had with Ian Martin. We switched over two cars with two drivers. read more

I would give Cornerstone (and primarily, Ian Martin) 6 stars if I could. I have been a bit traumatized in the past finding individual insurance and had a basket-load of anxiety starting this process. I was incredibly happy with the speed at which Ian responded to my inquiry and found me a great plan. Sadly, the plan did not cover the hospital I had my heart set on to deliver our first baby (due June 2014). Even after we realized we wouldn't be going with one of Ian's providers, he gave us his time and expertise answering all of our insurance questions. *The surprise ending is that our hospital signed a contract and we were happily able to go with Ian's original plan. =D In summary, if you want someone who knows his stuff, is quick to help and is just plain amazing to work with - call Ian. read more

I'll start off by saying that I don't have experience with their personal insurance services. However, I had to call in and request HOA insurance along with the many endorsement pages on my client's property. I dealt with Kari Janzen who was nothing short of pleasant. She made sure I had everything I needed and was polite as well as patient with my questions. It sounds a bit ridiculous, but in my job, I deal with a lot of insurance agents and providers who are incompetent and at times rude -- Kari is the complete opposite. If any new customers are looking into this company, I would recommend trying to get in touch with Kari for your insurance needs. read more

You buy insurance with the hopes you'll never have to use it...but when you do, you hope the experience is a decent one. Well, Sarah King has taken phenomenal care of our family and our insurance needs. I was recently involved in a claim, and she literally walked me through each step of the process, including getting me on the phone directly with the carrier, whose service levels have also been nothing short of spectacular. She is very easily accessible/responsive. We are extremely pleased with Sarah and Cornerstone, and are grateful for the way they take care of us. read more

Charlie is a great guy to deal with. He worked with me for a couple weeks finding multiple forms of insurance, and explained every facet from every policy. He made everything easy to understand and was able to answer any and all questions. He is extremely knowledgeable which is very helpful for someone who doesn't know a lot about how insurance works. NO HELP - NO CUSTOMER SERVICE I've had my homeowner's insurance through United Agencies (Cornerstone Insurance) and its predecessor agencies for 42 years and never filed a claim. Last October (2014), I received a letter of non-renewal from Unigard Insurance (QBE) primarily because they allege my main electrical panel is a potential fire hazard. The cost for replacement is about $3,000. I e-mailed my Cornerstone agent, Mary K., that two licensed electricians and the City of San Marino Fire Marshall didn't have a problem with the panel. I asked her to please find me another carrier. A month passed with no communication from Mary so I called her. Her response was that if I didn't replace the panel, the only option was to place me with the California FARE Plan, the insurer of last resort. What an absurd statement! Then, I e-mailed Cornerstone president, Jim Stone, explaining the problem and my wish to be placed with a new carrier. I received a robo-response with a promise to follow up. A month later in February I received a voice-mail from a staff member, but by that time, it was TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE. Doing my own research, I found that Amica, Farmers, State Farm and USAA have no issue with this panel. Now, I have a new carrier with better coverage for less money, and I am with an agent who cares. read more

I was eager and excited to be able to set up a plan with this insurance company as my husband and I prepared to buy our first home. I have many friends who use cornerstone and have had fabulous things to say. I called for a standard home policy, and they ended up recommending a different kind. No problem, and things kept moving along. At some point there was a miscommunication between the lender and Cornerstone, and a few days before escrow was scheduled to close our lender asked us to switch to the standard policy I had originally asked for. They said they needed to have a quote that day, so I quickly called and emailed the agent I had been working with. Sadly I got a short email stating that it wasn't fair to him the lender had changed their mind and he was no longer interested in working with us. All in all we were just bummed because we wanted to specifically support this company but were tossed out due to a miscommunication on the escrow side. read more

Called this company after reading their good reviews, hoping to set up some car insurance for a vehicle we had just purchased for our son. The person answering the phone asked if we were referred to a specific agent, to which I answered 'no'. She responded that this was fine, she would send us to (won't name the specific agent -- that's not important). Phone call was transferred, and the agent's voicemail informed us that he was out of the office for 3 days. So either the front desk person was unaware of which agents were and were not available, or the individual agent had left an old voicemail on his line. Either way, it felt a bit like hitting 'customer service brick wall' at a time when we needed some quick answers, and certainly left us with a poor impression. Needless to say, we decided to move on to another company. read more
