This place inside looks amazing and you can tell right away your sandwich will be worth your time!!! I got the BADA COME LA FUMA which had Porchetta, smoked provola, roasted potato cream, and spicy eggplant. What an amazing sandwich not to mention the bread perfect and fresh. My wife got the LA CHIANINA which had Marinated Chianina beef, stracciatella cheese, yellow and red tomatoes, and arugula Both sandwiches were definitely worth the hype and if I ever go back to Rome I'm definitely coming back here for sure!
Rome Day 5: A must-try Italian street food experience…read more.. While exploring Rome, we had to stop at All'Antico Vinaio for one of their famous schiacciata sandwiches. The bread, the flavors, the fresh ingredients, and the whole experience made this more than just lunch -- it was a taste of Italian food culture. Fun fact: All'Antico Vinaio started as a small family business in Florence in 1989 and became famous for its traditional Tuscan schiacciata sandwiches. Over time, it grew into an internationally recognized brand, with locations including Rome. What I loved most was being able to experience something that began as a local Italian tradition and has now become a place people travel to try. Another delicious memory added to our Rome adventure.

The waiter didn't admit his mistake and actually blamed *me* for it--I never ordered two sandwiches, and he didn't bring the pizza that I *had* ordered. This place was so incredible, we went TWICE during our 3 day stay in Rome!…read more We had tried the other "super famous" Italian sandwich spot earlier in our trip and it did NOT deliver. Pane e Salame, however, was delicious!!!! On our first day in Rome, my husband and I decided to search for a lunch spot nearby (we were staying near the Trevi fountain), and I found this place had pretty good reviews. We got there about an hour after it opened and requested a seat outdoors. They have a tiny patio across from their entrance, but they fit quite a bit of people in it! We initially wanted to order two sandwiches to try more items, but I'm glad we just shared one - they were big and filling! We also had the small charcuterie board to share which was plenty of food for us both. We shared a bottle of rose, and all in all, we paid under $50 (usd) - what a steal! This was the perfect first meal in Rome. The food was incredibly fresh, the service was great, and the outdoor seating allowed us to experience the streets of Rome. 10/10 - would absolutely go back.

Our sandwiches were cut in half and one half was big enough to make the average person full. We got five sandwiches for only about €30! The place was not a tourist trap, but i have to say, the seats at the booth were uncomfortable to me, and the place was a bit small. Sorry i do not have photos. But overall, I would recommend to go here.

When I arrived there was no line, so maybe I got lucky, just one couple in front of me already inside the shop. Take a number and wait your turn. It's worth it. Sandwiches are made on pizza bianca, a crisp and chewy flatbread native to Rome. They will fill your sandwich with whatever you like, and then weigh the sandwich to price it out. I got mortadella, stracciatella, pesto and sun-dried tomatoes. The sandwich was phenomenal, so delicious and memorable that I recreated it when I got home to the US, bread and all. The sandwiches may seem simple but the ingredients are the best around which really takes things to the next level. Don't miss it if you're in Rome.

Hands down the BEST sandwich in Roma!!! Trust me when I say this! So simple yet so flavorful and delicious! I'll be back again!!

A yummy thing happened on the way to the Colosseum …read more.. Pane & Vino is a tiny sandwich shop near il Colosseo that specializes in local porchetta (stuffed pork loin) and is run by the friendliest owner of all time. He gets to know every customer on a first name basis. I'd go back more to see him than to have a sandwich. Seriously, he's pretty awesome. The menu is simple and focused on sandwiches featuring their famous porchetta so we tried two recommendations from the peppy proprietor. While waiting, I got a miniature bottle of Chardonnay and my spouse sipped a Coke Zero. The Traiano Porchetta sandwich (12€ - 4 stars) is an original creation of the out-going owner with a mighty Mustard-flavored blend of Roast Pork, Sun-dried Tomatoes, and Grilled Eggplant. I like mustard and, therefore, liked this specialty much more than my wife, but we ended up ignoring portions of the so-so bun. Pane & Vino Special Porchetta (12€ - 4 stars) was a huge sandwich with the sliced Roast Pork Porchetta plus Mozzarella Cheese, Grilled Eggplant, Grilled Peppers, Mushrooms, Lettuce, and Mayo on classic Italian Pane. It needed more mayonnaise or a sprinkle of balsamic and olive oil for my tastes, but there was no denying it was a hearty hero. There are lots of pane bread and sandwich shops in Rome, but there is only one -- Pane & Vino -- run by the most welcoming of owners ever. If I'm in the neighborhood again, I'll be sure to stop in for a casual chat and some yummy porchetta sandwiches on the way to the Colosseum.

3.5 I don't know…read moreabout Rosti as a place to eat (it was packed when I was there) but as a spot to grab a drink and people watch, I think it fits the bill. Again, it's helpful to know where you are, the makeup of the neighborhood and the expectation of what's going to happen. With that said, my group was looking for a place to rest our feet as we'd been trekking all over Pigneto, eating gelato, taking pictures, talking with folks, looking at flats, and having a good time doing all things local on a crisp fall Sunday afternoon. Needing a cocktail, we wandered into the RaP courtyard as some sort of birthday party/soccer watching match was going on outside and in. This meant the screaming of little ones and grown men. This *really* meant I needed a drink. Choosing not to be a stereotype and ordering a Negroni, I opted for a Hemingway Daiquiri. I joked that I needed it to be as strong as can be due to all the chaos. Perhaps something was lost in translation because I was served a glass of green rum... and I was quite alright with that. And the drink wasn't served in the traditional (sometimes shallow) glass. I received a hoss pour/glass for 6 euros and that suited me just fine. As I sank into my chair and sipped my potent potable, the screams faded into the background and and all I was left with were good feelings. If all RaP cocktails are served up to be this strong, count me in.
