Absolutely worth the hype. This was one of my favorite sandwiches ever! Second and third generation owners Claudio and Luca run this tiny storefront near Piazza del Popolo. When I arrived there was no line, so maybe I got lucky, just one couple in front of me already inside the shop. Take a number and wait your turn. It's worth it. Sandwiches are made on pizza bianca, a crisp and chewy flatbread native to Rome. They will fill your sandwich with whatever you like, and then weigh the sandwich to price it out. I got mortadella, stracciatella, pesto and sun-dried tomatoes. The sandwich was phenomenal, so delicious and memorable that I recreated it when I got home to the US, bread and all. Waited an hour in line for our sandwiches. They were good, but not sure if it's an hour good to be honest. We got the Bobby flay (porcheta, stracciatella, pesto) with sun-dried tomatoes and a mortadella sandwich with stracciatella cheese and pesto spread. Both were good sandwiches, but I felt like the meat and cheese to bread ratio is off. One sandwich had too much filling while the other had too little. That said, both sandwiches were tasty.. and after waiting an hour, I had high hopes but unfortunately it just didn't wow me. Service was excellent though. read more

While we had all'antico vinaio multiple times during our trip - La Vita E'un Mozzico is worth a stop too! We ordered the Bobby Flay (featuring porchetta, stracciatella, pesto). Served warm and wow their porchetta is next level. It was sooo flavorful. I wish I ate it warm because consuming it the next day made the texture with the stracciatella & pork skin/fat texture a bit too similar but it was still very delicious!! I stumbled up the tiniest panino shop very close to Piazza del Poppolo. There was a short line, so (why not?) I joined in. Once inside, I spied a photo of Bobby Flay (!), the Food Network celebrity chef. The owner said Bobby was filming in the area and stopped in to enjoy a porchetta panino. Nice! I tried the porchetta panino with pesto spread which the shop owner said was Bobby's favorite. I added some slices of eggplant to it. It was tasty. The bread was sliced to make it thinner then placed into a sandwich press to warm it up. I think the foccacia bread could be fresher. The porchetta was not tender and cold. I think San Francisco's Roli Roti does a better porchetta sandwich than this shop. RR serves fresh porchetta just off the spit. You'll have to stop in and check out this Roman panino shop where Giada DeLaurentis & Bobby Flay have given a thumbs up. Take out only. read more

This is a secret very tiny panini place in an alley in the middle of Rome. Very good quality meats and a variety of cheeses for your panini. Loved the porchetta. Very affordable spot frequented by local workers that most tourists would miss, since it's on the side of a nondescript alley, next to a liquor store. Want a good lunch? Skip the good, but overpriced tourist trap restaurants and grab a delicious, affordable, hearty panini from here, along with an aranciatta. The owners are very cool people and can speak some English. The best meal I've had in Rome at a very inexpensive price. The Porchetta sandwich was phenomenal! It is off the beaten path, but to Piazza del Popolo. It is a very small shop with room for only 2-3 people. We eat the sandwich in the Villa Borghese park. The two guys in the shop were extremely friendly and spoke good English. 10 stars! read more

We rented an airbnb apartment above this excellent sandwich/panini/porchetto/Deli shop. The porchetto is so juicy and full of roasted pork flavor the the perfect touch of crunchy cracklin! Absolutely delicious with buffalo mozzarella on whatever bread you want; roll, focaccia, baguette. We also tried the spicy salumi, mortadella, pesto and green olives. ALL delicious and so inexpensive. We made it a daily stop! We don't speak Italian but it didn't matter because we know the food language. read more

Awesome Pannini! This turns up on a search under Groceries, but it is a Salumeria. If you find yourself in the Piazza Del Popolo and hungry I highly recommend you stop in for a panini made with fresh bread and freshly sliced meats. I had the Porchetta on focaccia and it was amazing. read more
