    Braesola, rocket, and stracciatella
    Kayla C.

Really good sandwich and I imagine even better if you customize one or get one that's loaded. Mine was good and fresh with warm bread but needed more sauce as the inside contents were great but wanted something more for the extra bread. It was certainly a place worth trying. A little hard to find at first as it didn't display the shop name out in the open. Try a customized sandwich with some extra cheese or pesto and I'm sure you'd like it!

Panisperna- smoked ham, stracciatella cheese, and asparagus crème. So Good!

Quick service, quick line, excellent sandwiches! Order the Panisperna- smoked ham, stracciatella cheese, and asparagus crème. So Good! Find a place outside, probably in the curb next to the water fountain and enjoy.

    Madonna del monti

Best sandwich.... Ever!!! I got the Madonna del monti, which had my favorite things in the world--mozarella, prosciutto, truffle, and sun dried tomato, in a thick focaccia bread. Huge serving size, was my lunch and dinner. Delicious as hell. Ready to take on the go. Great price at 10 Euros. There was a line of 5 people ahead of me when I arrived at 1p but it moved quickly.

Friendly staff even with a language barrier, we both did our best. Quick fast and delicious.

This place is a cute little hole in the wall. The sandwiches were fresh and very large. They could've used a little more sauce as the bread was a tad dry but nonetheless still great. We got two sandwiches, 1 beer, and 1 soda. It was $26 euros which is a little expensive compared to other places but over 4/5. Thanks!

    Panisperna

This place was good, and their food quality is great, but I found my sandwich to be a little mild. I was expecting more flavor out of my sandwich, so I was a little disappointed. I got the panisperna, while my friend got the Madonna dei Monti which I thought was better. There was a line but it went by pretty quick, and I didn't have to wait long for my sandwich to be made! The inside of the place is also pretty cool. Overall, it wasn't the best sandwich place I had in Rome, but I would be up for trying it again with a different sandwich next time.

We LOVED Mizios!! The sandwiches were our favorite in Rome and the pistachio cannoli was 10/10

Sandwich was bangin. Definitely recommend. Staff was friendly too. Go here, not a far walk from the Colosseum

Great location to stop in for a big sandwich. It's just a few minutes walk to the Coliseum. We stopped here for lunch after our tour. It's on a smaller street so it's an escape from the busy crowds. It's a small quaint space with takeaway sandwiches. There wasn't any seating so we took it to a nearby park to eat. The staff is friendly and offers bread tastings when you arrive. They have many different sandwich options both with and without meat. We ordered the Clementina which was my favorite and a meat sandwich with mozzarella and sundried tomatoes. The zucchini and pesto were amazing on the Clementina! Both sandwiches were pressed and warm which made them very tasty. They were fresh and filled with lots of flavor. Overall they were a great price for all that you got. We did think the meat sandwich was a bit dry without a sauce or pesto on it so I would definitely recommend the Clementina!

Delicious, abundant, and hit just the spot! My wife and I loved this place. We had read the reviews online and it sure didn't disappoint. Lots of flavor in that buffalo cheese. Highly recommend!

    Grillo: Finocchiana and pecorino

If I could give this place a 10 star rating I would. I came across this hole in the wall sandwich shop on one of my first days in Rome, not knowing my feet would lead me back here a few more times throughout this trip. On a Sunday afternoon, after a colosseum photo shoot, I wanted a small snack to fill me up before going to a restaurant for a meal. I saw this tiny shop on the walk back to my Airbnb, with only a few customers. The space inside is very small, with only two seats outside. We had no idea what to expect. We were kindly welcomed by a lady and her partner. Per her recommendation, I decided to try the sandwich with pistachio and ham. After waiting a minute, we were given a warm, fluffy, yet crunchy panini oozing with a sour cream textured cheese. As an American, I am used to a good ratio sandwich, usually with more meat than bread. However, this sandwich came with a slice of ham. It was the most unexpected perfect ratio. I split one sandwich with my partner, and it was so filling for 8€, we decided we did not need to find another place to eat after this place. Throughout the rest of our time here, we wanted to try as many other places as we can, to beat the taste of Mizios, but it was incomparable. We came back two days later, getting another panini. We decided to try the Urbana. Again, it was one slice of meat, mortadella and it was still the PERFECT ratio. We couldn't help but to walk off some food space in our stomach by window shopping in local vintage stores nearby, and went back for seconds. This time we tried the Grillo. The salami in this was salty, balancing the cheese and focaccia, the perfect taste. We only have one more day here, and as much as I want to try other places, I know I will be back a couple more times as this place does not disappoint. This hole in the wall is a MUST TRY.

They were out of the bread that they are known for, but other than that good! A little pricy, but really good and delicious!!

Drooling! This place is soo good! The portions are excellent for the price and the flavor combinations are delicious. I had the Madonna. You can taste the slight truffle and the sundried tomato was prevalent. Good portion of meat. I'd point out the sandwiches are on the saltier side, but if you like salt and cured meats and great bread, I'd highly recommend!

Meh, not that good, definitely not four or five stars. I had a mortadella sandwich, a little light on the mortadella.

The bread, the flavors, the fresh ingredients, and the whole experience made this more than just lunch -- it was a taste of Italian food culture. Fun fact: All'Antico Vinaio started as a small family business in Florence in 1989 and became famous for its traditional Tuscan schiacciata sandwiches. Over time, it grew into an internationally recognized brand, with locations including Rome. What I loved most was being able to experience something that began as a local Italian tradition and has now become a place people travel to try. Another delicious memory added to our Rome adventure.

Pane e Salame, however, was delicious!!!! On our first day in Rome, my husband and I decided to search for a lunch spot nearby (we were staying near the Trevi fountain), and I found this place had pretty good reviews. We got there about an hour after it opened and requested a seat outdoors. They have a tiny patio across from their entrance, but they fit quite a bit of people in it! We initially wanted to order two sandwiches to try more items, but I'm glad we just shared one - they were big and filling! We also had the small charcuterie board to share which was plenty of food for us both. We shared a bottle of rose, and all in all, we paid under $50 (usd) - what a steal! This was the perfect first meal in Rome. The food was incredibly fresh, the service was great, and the outdoor seating allowed us to experience the streets of Rome. 10/10 - would absolutely go back.

But overall, I would recommend to go here. A yummy thing happened on the way to the Colosseum …read more.. Pane & Vino is a tiny sandwich shop near il Colosseo that specializes in local porchetta (stuffed pork loin) and is run by the friendliest owner of all time. He gets to know every customer on a first name basis. I'd go back more to see him than to have a sandwich. Seriously, he's pretty awesome. The menu is simple and focused on sandwiches featuring their famous porchetta so we tried two recommendations from the peppy proprietor. While waiting, I got a miniature bottle of Chardonnay and my spouse sipped a Coke Zero. The Traiano Porchetta sandwich (12€ - 4 stars) is an original creation of the out-going owner with a mighty Mustard-flavored blend of Roast Pork, Sun-dried Tomatoes, and Grilled Eggplant. I like mustard and, therefore, liked this specialty much more than my wife, but we ended up ignoring portions of the so-so bun. Pane & Vino Special Porchetta (12€ - 4 stars) was a huge sandwich with the sliced Roast Pork Porchetta plus Mozzarella Cheese, Grilled Eggplant, Grilled Peppers, Mushrooms, Lettuce, and Mayo on classic Italian Pane. It needed more mayonnaise or a sprinkle of balsamic and olive oil for my tastes, but there was no denying it was a hearty hero. There are lots of pane bread and sandwich shops in Rome, but there is only one -- Pane & Vino -- run by the most welcoming of owners ever. If I'm in the neighborhood again, I'll be sure to stop in for a casual chat and some yummy porchetta sandwiches on the way to the Colosseum.
