Inside was a beautiful chaos: truckers comparing boots, kids losing their minds over slushies the size of small buckets, and a guy at the counter trying to buy a single banana and a windshield wiper. I headed for the restroom, and let me tell you, it was clean enough that I almost considered living there. Almost. The snack aisle was a spiritual experience--wall-to-wall trail mix, Hot Cheetos, and mystery meat sticks. I grabbed a soda, a slice of gas station pizza and got back on the road feeling satisfied. Love's isn't just a gas station. It's a strange, wonderful rest stop between "Where are we?" and "Are we there yet?" And in New Mexico, that's pretty much magic.

I was thankful to find this fueling station in the middle of nowhere (no disrespect Carrizozo as I'm sure you have some really fine citizens and businesses ... but you really are in the middle of nowhere). I was pleasantly surprised to find the fuel here 30 cents per gallon cheaper than in Las Cruces - Wow! You'll also find 12 pumping stations for autos/trucks, and separate pumps to the north for Semi truck drivers. There's plenty of room for maneuvering in case you're in a motor home or towing a trailer. The bathrooms are clean, and the store is well stocked with all the normal snacks, ice cream, etc.. and automotive needs. The little human interaction I had was upon leaving the store the employees wished me a happy day (1 extra star). If you're traveling south towards Alamogordo (60 miles away) and getting low on fuel, I recommend you stop in, get some fuel, try some of their ice cream, stretch, relax for a few minutes, and be thankful for businesses like this - especially in the middle of nowhere!! :) #ThankfulThursday

I usually stop here for refueling (surprisingly lower cost than some) my car and refueling myself with drinks & snacks when I'm traveling from Santa Rosa, NM (1-40) to El Paso, TX on US 54. It's about 1/2 way between those two points. If you need some gas, you really need to stop here before you go on too long because there's literally nothing here and Alamogordo about 60 miles away on US 54 unless you're willing to make a stop in Ruidoso or Cloudcroft really out of your way (and why would you do that when you're running low on your gas?). The bathrooms are clean, and the store is well stocked with all the normal snacks, drinks, water, ice cream, and automotive needs, etc. Customer service is good here.

So did other women with children, opting to not wash their hands. Bleh! The wind always blows in Vaughn much like the nearby train engine whistles blow... constantly. For that, there is always trash swirling around. That day, before Thanksgiving, the fuel prices were so-so: Regular = $2.90 Plus = $3.40 Premium = $3.70 It was mid-afternoon when I still hadn't eaten lunch, so I decided on some fine Allsup's Hatch Green Chile & Cheese burritos ($3.49). I'm a fan, but I suspect my little brother doesn't like them since they are meatless. Not a bad pit stop, just could have been better.

Her car used $43 so she went back in for the $17 change to which the cashier said "I can't give you the change in cash (even though she paid cash ) the way it works is the $17 will go back onto your Valero account as a credit for you to use next time". Now fast-forward to today, she's checked her bank account just now and that gas station charged her the $43 that she used because her credit card was on file on the app. So the cashier pocketed her $60 cash and still charged her app/credit card the $43. We have already called the corporate office and filed a claim as we have both receipts showing that she paid $60 cash and was also charged $43 on her Valero account... (proof is there!!!!) we will be emailing the receipt receipts to corporate and they said they will file a claim against the office and hopefully give my mother a gift card for the $60 that was stolen from her at this location! Absolutely do not go here unless you want to be double charged and have your money stolen from you! Thankfully, my mother was smart enough to get receipts for both transactions so we have all of the proof we need to prove that he stole the money from her. What a piece of crap person to steal from an elderly woman! Lucky I don't file a police report against him. Fair warning to everyone else out there do not go here!

There are several signs at this business that are grossly unwelcoming, prominently stating that bathroom use is not allowed, no parking etc. Inside, the place is small and far from clean, and the person at the counter (whom I presume was the owner) is not at all welcoming or friendly. Despite buying some cold drinks there we were not allowed to use the bathroom, and felt overall unwelcome. I will NEVER stop at this place again.

The women's restroom has lots of stalls. Not always the cleanest & they do not offer towels for hand drying, but I have no major complaints. Don't forget to try the "World Famous Beef & Bean Burrito." With a packet or two of taco sauce. Avoid settling on the chimichanga. It's not good. I like this stop particularly if I don't want to drive through town. There is a shortcut if you're headed towards Tatum or the Texas border via Pine Lodge and Red Bridge Roads.

I was strolling around and low and behold... what do you think the NM Donut Kween found!!! You guessed it! Doughnutty socks!!!! Sad thing is they were children sizes but I thought what the heck I'm going to buy them anyway!! I asked the cashier if she had anything else related to Donuts in her shop. She said I don't think so.
