Two weeks ago, my father, who is 85 and has Alzheimer's, went missing in my mother's car. The couple who runs this gas station saw the Silver Alert and called NM State troopers and kept my father there until i could get there. I was about 3 hours away. They were beyond kind and patient, and I can't thank them enough. So when I read the negative reviews, I'm shocked as I have nothing but gratitude for these people. read more

I'm a military veteran (which is obvious from the decals on both sides of my semitruck) and I'm an owner-operator trucker. I stopped at this business to buy some cold drinks and to use the bathroom since the rest area just before it was closed (much of New Mexico interstate roadways and rest areas are in a pretty bad condition, with rough, damaged roadway for very many miles and rest areas that are either poorly maintained or outright closed). There are several signs at this business that are grossly unwelcoming, prominently stating that bathroom use is not allowed, no parking etc. Inside, the place is small and far from clean, and the person at the counter (whom I presume was the owner) is not at all welcoming or friendly. Despite buying some cold drinks there we were not allowed to use the bathroom, and felt overall unwelcome. I will NEVER stop at this place again. read more

I just happened to stumble across this hidden gas station, while looking aimlessly for gas, off Exit 300. It does not have your typical gas station appearance. It looks like a I am not too sure about this place. Once I saw the little Phillips Gas sign, I decided to stop. It was not a friendly experience, no hello or eye contact. Pretty dry customer service. The two germane shepherds behind the store, in a large kennel, "hello Tabatha, it is great to see you"! #fur baby love... The price of gas is pretty high, even for the area. This place was getting some bad reviews but I rolled through there maybe three weeks ago and I needed fuel bad and I just took the chance they had new fuel pumps for diesel and gas and the guy at the store was super cool nice very talkative. Gave me some extra pointers information whatever and I'm glad I took the chance. Honestly didn't have a bad Experience price was a little high, but hey, it's just a small business out in the middle of nowhere and when you get traveling out west and stuff there ain't fuel stations every 10 miles you take what you can get!! read more

This is a little old-fashioned gas station along Route 66. The old gas pumps are neat to see, but that is the only sight here. Also, regular gas is the only option and can take a while to pump. The gift shop is small and does not have much to choose from. I think the restrooms were still out of order when I visited a few months ago. We filled up our car here. and wished we hadn't. My daughter asked to use a restroom and the man was very rude to her. In fact, he made her cry! He called her stupid and told her she couldn't follow directions! I was so disappointed and can't help but wonder the purpose of his attitude. A very nice man. We were able too get gas! He had Route 66 souvenirs . Had really cute keychains and merchandise . Good prices for a small store. Great store ! Cute old gas station on Route 66. Gives you a real blast from the past feeling. The owner is such a nice he man and will go out of his way to help you. They have a towing company too and went completely out of there way to help us and help us to find the best town and shop to take our truck to. If I could put less than one star I would. Broke down a mere 2 miles from them and although they say 24 seven nobody answered the phone. After a couple of hours and finally getting our car taken care of we drove over there to get some gas and they're there were, picking their butts watching TV ignoring the phone. We needed to put some air in our tire and they did not even have the pressure gauge and made us pay for a pressure gauge to put onto their own air hose. This place was a BLESSING when I was traveling from Rhode Island to Las Vegas, Nevada! Of the many gas stations we stopped at, This one was welcoming, had a great atmosphere, and friendly people who worked there. We talked with other travelers and even let our dog out for a breather! We also picked up some post cards (Cheap prices!) and other souvenirs! Just an all around great little place to stop if you need fuel.....which we did thankfully, or we never would have even seen such a great little gem of an old gas station!!! Worst gas station ever! No public bathroom? Really??? And what's worse is its 20 miles to anywhere else with a bathroom and its the last stop before the lake. First off the rest area miles before is closed. Second of all both his bathrooms were "out of order" and there is NOTHING around, literally nothing around. Not only am I female but I have disabilities and really needed a rest room. He has zero compassion, zero care and didn't give a crap when I told him I was going to be able to make it to the next set of restrooms nearly 20 miles away. He's a terrible person and horrible business owner. If you're in the desert, you don't put up signs so you don't have to let people use the bathroom, that's low. A super friendly place to gas up and recharge your batteries when traveling through enchanting New Mexico. Expect a strong dose of local flavor as it appears to be the only place in town to touch base with the other residents. It also appears to be weather proof, as windstorms wiped out all the electricity in Santa Rosa, but spared Route 66 gas. No bathrooms to use, although there are what looked like 2 port-o-potties right next to building. Stuff for sale looks like it's been setting around for awhile. Asked where the nearest bathroom was and he told me 15 minutes west. Made it 10 min west and stopped in Cuervo and found a bathroom. Plan accordingly if you need gas or bathrooms. read more

Tiny town gas station. Easy access from I-40. Old style pumps that work well, but they take cards inside. Truck parking that is plowed in the winter. Prices reasonable for an outpost town of 30 people. Gas, small convenience store, tire service, etc. Easy access to I-40 bypass/frontage that saved us a couple of hours waiting for I-40 wreck cleanup. Tire blew out just before the Newkirk exit on a Sunday. Pulled in to Newkirks Route 66 tire and gas not expecting to find 19.5 tire for my motorhome, but we were in luck! Owner took his tow truck spare (same size, unbelievably lucky for me) and had me going in less than an hour. Great service and everyone was very friendly. Yes, bathrooms are an issue, but I had my own. While there at least 30 motorcycle riders stopped in, so I can see why things are out of order, lots of use. Know going in, small town, small business will not have the services some demand. If you want valet service, stop in the big city.... my 2 cents.... ef read more

We had just driven 3 hours with no gas station on highway 104 south form Las Vegas. There are no gas stations at all on 1-4 - which is a lonely desert road. This gas station is right where highway 40 and 104 meet - my kids and I were thirsty and needed to go so badly - DO NOT STOP or give your business to this place. We were initially so excited to see it due to the route 66 items - but the guy/attendant was unfriendly and then also said "there are no restrooms" and I said - "well - we will buy snacks elsewhere - we just drove 3 hrs on 104 which has no gas stations" - he did not care - in this part of the country in the desert, gas stations all have restrooms - wait -they all always have them - I think this is unacceptable especially in this desolate area.
