On the positive side: Inventory - This neighborhood shop carries a huge inventory with a wide variety of brands, styles and price points. Prices - From what I can tell, each brand and style may offer a variety of price points and the shop does sometimes offer discounts and specials. Availability - The shop offers convenient and customer friendly hours, check web site for the details. Staff - In my experience the staff has invariably been welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. When I recently mentioned that a flat cap I'd purchased there seemed a little snug, they insisted on enlarging it a half-size at no charge, and the result was perfect. Location - It is absolutely perfect for me to have what I've heard is the country's best hat store only 15 minutes from home. I often arrive with questions only and they are always welcoming and helpful. Negatives The traffic is awful because of construction work going on along 4th Avenue. Parking anywhere nearby on the street is nearly impossible, but there is a small lot at the rear of the building in the alley between 4th and 5th, and Robinson and University that I've never seen more than half-filled and is free for customers.

Huge store with tons of hats. Definitely the largest hat store I've ever seen. Not great service…read morewhen I visited in the store. They sell lots of hats on their website too, and there is no coordination between the website and the store - they are run like separate businesses, which is a bit frustrating. Great place to actually try on hats though.

The one thing that puts me on guard is when the sales person follows me around. She did this the entire time that we were in the store looking. First of all, it doesn't look anything like the pictures. The merchandise is pile high and the racks make it difficult to walk around. The shoes were cute and I liked the clothing, but I will never go in there to shop again. It makes me feel like a criminal to walk around the store and have someone following us everywhere we went. This is not the customer service that I want or expect. There are lots of stores in San Diego County that give me the respect and space that I deserve. Making me feel uncomfortable is not the way to get my business.

The lady working was right behind me the entire time, and every time I touched something she rushed over to check it. It felt like I was being followed and judged instead of treated like a valued customer. I couldn't even enjoy looking around because of how awkward and uncomfortable it was. Definitely not the shopping experience I was hoping for.

Vonte helped me choose the perfect hat and walked me through the customization options to get my girlfriend's name stitched on the side with a little heart, which came out clean, centered, and exactly how I pictured it. He was patient, friendly, and made sure everything was spelled correctly and placed just right before sending it to be stitched, which really made the experience feel personal instead of rushed. The store was organized, the process was quick, and the final result looks amazing my girlfriend loved it and it definitely made the hat feel one-of-a-kind. Huge thank you to Vonte for the great customer service and attention to detail I'll definitely be back here for my next custom hat. @neeks93 on insta

We got a SD New Era one for my son! His first sports "name brand" hat. To my surprise we can get it customized! So for his first hat we did! The worker was super friendly and told us any color! We just did gold yellow to match but also added extra diamonds (they called it stars). We chose the Kindergarten font since it goes with him being an infant! It's super cute! I love it so much and we will keep this hat even when he outgrows it! Took about 30 mins to complete which was fine, we went to eat while he worked on that. The letters seem a little crooked to me like it's descending but with the font (which we did all caps), it's fine. The cap itself was $27.99 but with customization it came to almost $50. I did try to look online to see if it was sold anywhere but those are hard to find so it was worth it for us.
