As a 47-year-old perimenopausal woman dealing with metabolic health issues, I came to strength…read moretraining from a very different perspective than someone who already enjoys the gym or athletics. I had never strength trained before and was honestly intimidated by the entire experience. I worried about getting injured, looking foolish because I didn't know what I was doing, and whether the effort would actually produce meaningful results. I started training with Christian in late April, and I have been genuinely surprised by the progress I've made. Physically, I've dropped a clothing size in both pants and tops, and my DEXA scans show that I've increased lean mass and bone density while losing weight in a calorie deficit, which is especially meaningful to me at this stage of life. Beyond the visible changes, I've also seen improvements in several health markers, which was one of my primary goals going into this process. For me, strength training wasn't about athletic performance--it was about improving my long-term health. One of the biggest reasons I've been successful is the coaching itself. I have low blood pressure and can become lightheaded during heavier lifts, and I also need careful attention to form and knee positioning to avoid injury while still being challenged appropriately. I don't think I would push myself safely or effectively on my own. Christian does an excellent job of finding that balance between encouragement, proper technique, and progressive overload. One of the strongest endorsements I can give is that he has developed a program tailored specifically to my goals, my health concerns, and my abilities. Over time, that has built a level of trust that allows me to focus on the work itself, knowing that each session is designed to move me safely and effectively forward. He is also genuinely passionate about what he does. Every session includes explanations about physiology, training, and conditioning, which I particularly appreciate because I came into this with almost no strength training knowledge. If you're someone who feels intimidated by the gym, is dealing with health concerns, or simply wants knowledgeable coaching that meets you where you are, I highly recommend working with Christian.

On 9/9/2024 I was injured during a massage at Sports Performance Physical Therapy in Chula Vista…read more The LMT had her elbow in the intercostal space of my left anterior chest when I suddenly felt an incredible amount of sharp, stabbing pain. I cried out and requested that she remove her elbow from my chest. The pain in my left chest was excruciating. I was unable to use my left arm without experiencing an enormous amount of pain. Even breathing was painful. Coughing and sneezing were unbearable. When I woke up the next morning, the pain was severe. Based on my symptoms, I was afraid I had a rib fracture. I contacted Cristianah Comaduran, Operations Manager of Sports Performance to notify her of the injury. She spoke with the LMT, who verified what happened. We stayed in contact over the next several weeks. I informed her that I would be filing a claim with their liability insurance and would contact her once I was completely asymptomatic. For the next two weeks, the pain was severe. I was unable to work, do household chores, and help my 4 year son with the things he needed, like getting dressed, bathing, basic ADLs. I filed a short term disability claim through my employer (I'm an ICU nurse). The stipulation for payment is that the first two weeks are unpaid, and then 60% of earnings are paid. This was a great financial burden for my family. The consequences of this injury were costly with low income for the months of October and November. My pain continued to improve until I caught an upper respiratory infection (URI) that caused continuous coughing. The pain was back and it was severe. Each cough and sneeze was excruciating. Once the URI resolved, my pain improved. For two months, the pain and suffering was debilitating, not allowing me to work, exercise, take care of the household, and most importantly, my son. It caused sleepless nights because the pain medication I was prescribed did little to relieve my symptoms, which lead to chronic exhaustion. The findings of my MRI on 11/14/24, which was two months after the injury, showed asymmetric edema at the level of the left third sternocostal joint. Two months after the injury, I still had abnormal results which were consistent with my symptoms. My thoracic spine MRI from 2022 showed none of these injuries. My PCP's impression was that there was a sprain of costal cartilage subsequent encounter. He determined it was costal-sternal joint strain vs developing costochrondritis. Along with pain and suffering, I experienced anxiety and distress due to financial strain. The injury resulted in thousands of dollars of missed wages. In addition, I was unable to accrue paid time off and contribute to my pension and retirement fund. This set me back two months from being vested at work. When I returned to work, I had very little sick or vacation time due to the inability to accrue paid time off (PTO). In January of 2025, I called out sick for 3 shifts (36 hours) when I was sick with the flu. I did not have enough sick time to cover the hours missed. I also received a double occurrence for my absence, which was not cleared from my record until January of 2026. It was worrisome that despite returning to work, the effects of this injury continued to be a financial burden and was affecting my performance review at work. This incident has also resulted in out of pocket costs, such as co-pays and pharmaceuticals, not to mention I was never reimbursed for the massage that started it all!! Perhaps worse than everything, I had to borrow money from my parents, so there's an element of shame in addition to the pain, suffering, and distress. This injury has been costly in terms of lost wages/PTO accrual and out of pocket expenses, not to mention inability to contribute to retirement and inch closer to being vested at my place of employment. I submitted an incredible amount of documents to Sports Performance in attempt to file a claim against their liability insurance. They were extremely difficult to work with and despite my repeated efforts to present all documents they requested, my claim was denied. Total cost for lost wages and out of pocket costs: $20,224.09. Because of this massage, I experienced pain, suffering, chronic exhaustion due to insomnia, anxiety, distress, and shame...and I didn't even get a fucking apology.

I was dealing with chronic hip and back pain on one side of my body from multiple sports injuries. Pain ranged from a 5-8 and made sleep and daily life difficult. Before Pro+Kinetix, I tried traditional PT and chiropractic work. PT felt outdated and boring, and chiropractic care was more of a temporary fix. I found Pro+Kinetix through Instagram and the scheduling process was smooth from the start. I chose them because they clearly focus on active individuals who want to get back to performing at a high level. Working with Kyle has been a completely different experience. He is highly educated but also very active himself, which gave me confidence right away. The program was personalized, he listened to my feedback, and he kept me accountable. The staff and overall experience are top notch. Even Buddy, their mascot and director of morale, adds to the environment. Now my pain is almost nonexistent. It's down to a 1-2 at worst; after long, sedentary days, which would have been unbearable before. This is not your average PT office. It's by far the best experience I've had, with the best results. Thank you Kyle!

    1) How long did you wait before making the decision? I…read morewaited a few months after my most recent injury before deciding to seek physical therapy. Why wait that long and what was the obstacle? I waited a few months because I had previous PT treatments for the same injury and I thought that doing the same exercises would help more than they actually did. After a few months my pain and mobility did recover but not as much as I'd hoped. 2) About particular problem...what was it and how was it before you came to see us? I had strained my back a handful of times over the past decade, with symptoms increasing in intensity & frequency over time. At first, the symptoms were limited to pain with certain movements/weight. With each instance, the pain increased, the range of motion became more limited and stiffness felt practically constant. 3) What else did you try that didn't work? Mainly repeat the exercies I had been shown in previous PT treatments. Applying some heat would help with symptoms but I still needed to address the root of the problem. 4) What was the main reason you chose Pro+Kinetix? I decided to try Pro+Kinetix because their experience working with athletes so I signed up for an evaluation. I was impressed with the attention to detail of the tests because they were specific to the symptoms I'd described to Dr. Amos. For example, I had mentioned numnbess in my feet, specifically toes and she performed a capillary reflow test to gauge the severity of the symptoms. Another aspect that convinced me to go with PK is the explanation of the cause of the symptoms since this helps me understand the mechanics of the human anatomy. As a result, I understood why certain exercises would alleviate symptoms. 5) What did your physical therapist teach you at Pro+kinetix that you can't get anywhere else? Dr. Amos didn't just teach me which exercises to incorporate into my program but went beyond to teach me about how habits & lifestyle can affect and exacerbate the symptoms. 6) What did you experience as a patient at Pro+Kinetix? I experience attention to detail of my symptoms like I haven't before. If there was any exercise that created discomfort or pain, Dr. Amos would suggest a variation of that exercise that would work much better for me. Again, the diagnostic test performed in my evaluation as well as folowing sessions is what really imppressed me. 7) Since you came to see us, what impact have have we had on your quality of life? By the end of my treatment with PT, I'd made more progress than I had anticipated. I felt stronger in parts where I was weak and unstable, and even felt a mind-muscle connection in muscles I had rarely, if ever, constracted in my life. 8) What would you say to someone skeptical about physical therapy? Just do it & believe in the process. -Luis

Unless you meet with her yourself, you will never know how kind, caring, and attentive she is. I have not been with a doctor in recent years who cares so much about her patients. You don't have to wait 2 1/2 months to see her. How about only days, not months? She listens to everything you have to say and then acts according to your wishes. Not next week, not next month, but the same day. She has even called me at home to follow up on important labs and health referrals. How refreshing this is in a time of 20-minute doctor visits with a doctor who is so overwhelmed with patients and bureaucracy that he is hard to reach in an emergency (most of them). I highly recommended Drs. Considine. The trip to Coronado is worth it. And, they just might take your insurance!
