Our group of 3 arrived for lunch and decided to sit on the back deck overlooking the Chippewa River since it was such a beautiful day. I ordered a Spotted Cow and 8 oz. broasted codfish sandwich with lettuce, tartar sauce and served on a kaiser that comes with chips. It was a large portion that was perfectly cooked and not greasy. We have dined here before and the food was good. Today we got the hot beef which was almost frig cold. Beef was a funny color and dry. Potatoes were instant and flavorless and they gravy was from a mix or can. Server was very polite and after checking with the kitchen said they would redo which meant bringing the same plates out after a minute I'm the microwave. Server was apologetic and it seamed like he was not allowed to make it right. Clean and nice river view. read more

What a nice surprise! We had a really nice midafternoon meal overlooking the Chippewa River. My broasted chicken wings were fresh and very tasty. My husband's steak and baked potato were top notch. Our server was super nice and happy and helpful. The experience was very "Wisconsin supper club". We intend to return sometime to try the ribs! read more

Interesting place! There are sites at this establishment that I have never seen before. Not one person in a mask including cooks bartenders and waitresses--but they were all super friendly. Bar type fried food that was what I expected. Atmosphere was perfect--outside in the river. Extra perk was the circus poster in the room to the side. It is an amazing find!! read more

Lol Durand, you're so tiny and bizarre. Came here for dinner with the fam. I ordered the popcorn chicken which was not popcorn chicken. The pieces were at least 3 inches long, and more like what you might call chicken tenders. Whatever, they tasted fine. The fries were awesome! I love me some thicker soft fries in barbeque sauce. The best part was the appetizer: Ellsworth cheese curds. Do not pass these up. Beer selection was not the best, but its a small town. Our waitress was super nice and seems to have some sort of recurring banter with my gramps which is entertaining to watch. Shout out to Mckenna or however you spell your name. This is not a place you would go to for the ambiance, but if you're hanging out in the area, you probably know that already. Great view of the river. In fact, the water was so high in May, we were actually eating on the patio right and looking at the river under our feet. They serve cheese curds from local Ellsworth Creamery, and they are wonderful! Menu is typical bar food but it came fast and tasted fresh. read more

You have to give these guys credit. The waiter told us they have been open every day for the past 40+ years. That's amazing and my hat is off to them. That said, don't order the broasted chicken - it was hot but flavorless. On the other hand, the French fries were delicious. It was drafty in places so either wear your coat or sit back in the bar area. Might try it one more time just because they are clearly some hard workers and you just don't find that anymore these days. If it isn't good the second time, that will be it for us. read more

Stopped twice during our few weeks in northern Wisconsin, both during the COVID 19 pandemic. Staff was pleasant and welcoming, we sat outside both times but plenty of space in large dining room. Full service bar with lots of beer choices. Fish fry was great, typical Wisconsin offered lots of potatoes choices. Lyonnaise were great, baked potatoes were large but French fries for the win! Didn't have room for dessert. Take a moment to check out the antique circus mural in the main bar room (closed during COVID but open to see the mural). Second stop was for broasted chicken (which isn't available in Friday's which meant we had to go again!). Husband had the 1/2 chicken with fries, so juicy and crispy! Just terrific. I (being raised in Wisconsin have had broasted chicken numerous times) opted for the double-decker BLT. Can you say BACON? So much that I shared it with spouse. And this wasn't the wimpy thin strips but thick-cut, perfectly cooked and LOTS of it! Nice toasty bread, a shear of mayo and I think they were fresh tomatoes! So delish!! And the fries-cooked in a bit of batter (I think) were crispy, hot and delicious. And lots of them. read more

My husband and I have been eating at the Corral regularly for several years now. Let's just say right now that the 12 oz ribeye is by far the best thing on the menu, and the best steak I've ever had. The whole meal is good--they make their own dinner rolls, and there are a lot of potato options. I recommend the fries--they are battered and, I think, seasoned, but the baked potato and the hash browns have always been satisfactory too. Other above-average choices are the homestyle turkey dinner and the pork chops. My son always gets the "Panther Burger" (a brat-burger, I think), and is always satisfied. The chicken strips are nothing exceptional; If you crave strips you should probably go elsewhere. Without a doubt, the batter-fried Ellsworth cheesecurds are the best app on the menu. Salads are pretty good--not big-city "foodie", but you won't get wilted lettuce. The walnut/chicken salad with craisins is really good. Breakfast is great here--and their bacon is thick and flavorful. The servers are all really nice and fast, and if they do make a mistake they are good about fixing it. read more

This is a great place to go in Durand. It's very laidback and the staff is really nice. It's everything you love about a small town bar/grill. My extended family goes here once a year for my Grandmother's birthday. We usually have around 15-20 ppl. As a server i must applaud the wait staff; they almost never mess up. They deserve every dollar we leave them. I would definitely recommend this place :) read more

Had dinner at riverside. This place is a community institution. I had steak and it was delicious! Seriously- super tender and perfectly cooked. Hubby had Friday fish fry which was also delicious. Owner chatted with us about local history. Service was great. Decor is old school kitsch ...check out this diamond in the rough in Durand. There are tables on the patio with a river view! read more

There aren't many options for food in Durand so by Durand standards the Corral is probably your best option. Food is generally always good. Service can be hit and miss at times. read more

Overall I think that the Corral is a great place. I have eaten in there 30ish times and the food has been good. Once I did get possible food poisoning from the popcorn chicken basket and had a horrible stomach ache for the next 2 days. The view of the Chippewa is great and it's pretty much the only place left in town to eat. read more
