This place is a dump. Had to move rooms twice because it was so dirty. Moldy showers. No hot water. Rooms were loud and walls are thin. Breakfast was inedible. Zero apologies from staff. My wife and I stayed here while staying in London. It's a small room but we weren't looking to stay in something crazy fancy considering we would be out and about most of the time so we just needed a clean, safe place to stay and this was just that. It is located within walking distance to three London Underground locations so getting around the city was easy. The staff was very helpful, the barkeep was great, and the showers had consistent hot water. I would have put five stars but there was a fire alarm dilemma going on while we stayed there so we evacuated but the staff outside said all was fine and to go back in. After that one elevator stopped working so we were stuck waiting a while at times for a lift. read more

The hotel building is over 200 years old and it has its charms but could use a few upgrades. They have air conditioning and the rooms are clean and tidy. Their customer service is awesome!!! Big thank you to DANTE at the front desk and all of the receptionists, also a big thank you to EZIO, ADA, and NIGEL for being friendly and informative to tourists and our endless questions you were all very professional and attentive. We stayed 5 nights. We paid for the delicious English breakfast service in the morning (worth it), it's located right next to beautiful Hyde Park, it's also next to many pubs. The Underground (subway) is a 1 minute walk away and that transports you anywhere you want to go in London and its surrounding areas. Super convenient. Will stay there again for sure. read more

I pride myself on fair reviews as I work in customer service but there was nothing positive to say about this hotel. I travelled on business. We were a party of 10 with 10 individual rooms. Not 1 room didn't have issues. This is the worst value for money hotel I have ever stayed in in London. The rooms are the smallest I've ever come across. None of us had rooms where you could walk into the bathroom. The doors were narrow and wouldn't open fully so you had to walk in sideways!!!! All 10 of us had to do this so it's not a case of me having a bad room. There is nowhere in the bathroom to put make-up or any products. The air-con was broken! The curtain didn't cover the window and wasnt a black-out curtain, not that you could see out of it as A) it's high up and B) it was full of condensation and some mould. The window wouldn't open, too heavy and seemed to stick. The walls are all painted white, probably to try and make it feel bigger so good luck with the brightness in the morning! We paid £350 per room per night, for this you don't even get a wardrobe and the plastic hangers were brittle and kept popping open. The chair at the dressing table was dirty. The walls are paper thin, you can literally hear EVERYTHING in the rooms next door. It's worth adding I didn't complain to the hotel whilst there as I had too little time to get ready and didn't have the time to deal with a complaint and figured what's the point if others complained and were moved to rooms that were no better. Oh and 1 of the lifts was out of order and the hotel cleaners use the same lifts so good luck waiting for your lift! Never again!!!! Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!! read more

Terrible, rude and disrespectful front desk service. I checked into the hotel at 4pm at the end of April. I was there with my fiance who is 15 years my junior. The 20-something girl at the front desk immediately rolled her eyes and picked up the phone to check on a 1st floor executive room. She asked me to wait in the lobby. Immediately afterwards, 3 couples arrived and were given their rooms on upper floors. In seeing this, I asked her why the wait when others were given their rooms immediately, she said that only Executive rooms were available on the 1st floor and none were available at the time. Long story short, after given our room which had a terrible box spring made of of 2 rolling platforms that squeaked and moved from the slightest movement, the following morning I asked the other front desk person if Executive rooms were only on the first floor. He said that they were all over the hotel in all rooms. The presumption of the desk person that I was having an affair, or was some lecherous older man out for a good time, prompted being given a bad room. I have written Corus hotel about this, and they apologize but with no resolution. I have asked a 2nd time for a refund, and all I get is "crickets". The price for this hotel was expensive and for the price was definitely not worth it. read more

If you like flushing your toilet, go somewhere else. We have been down to the reception 5 times to tell them that our toilet is broken. Everytime, they tell us that it will be fixed as soon as possible. Everytime, nothing happens. It has now been three days. The breakfast is aggressively mediocre. I recommend Sally's around the corner; much cheaper and much much better. The rooms, but especially the halls smell like someone covered up a mess with fennel spray. Hyde Park is wonderful, and right outside. I guess the location is the reason the hotel still exists. read more

I read the reviews and made the mistake of wanting to see for myself thinking it wasn't THAT bad. I was wrong. Honestly the location is truly the only good thing about this hotel other than Fabrizio the bartender. There was water damage in the hallway (at least on the 8th floor) which left an overwhelming mold smell. Our room had air conditioning but it didn't work so we had to leave the window open. Unfortunately, there was always someone smoking outside of our room (at all hours) which left a terrible smell in the room and on our clothes. The shower was not enclosed at all (see photo) which led to the toilet and entirety of the bathroom being soaked after every shower. The bed was old and hard. We were just left incredibly uncomfortable for our stay. We tried to spend as little time at the hotel as possible but after exploring all day, all you want to do is relax and we weren't able to do that. Luxury Views of the Rubbish Tip With Subdued Mood Lightning It seems like they hand-selected the worst room in the hotel just for us. It had one window overlooking the garbage tip in the back alley, was kinda dark, and had a very musty smell. Half of the lights didn't work, and everything felt shabby and dated. If this room were in a budget hotel at half the cost I might be more lenient, but the Corus brand claims to be a luxury brand. At £200 a night I expect at minimum to have functioning lights. This room was simply unacceptable. If we were staying here more than one night, I might have said something immediately but since it was our last night in London I just put up with it. When I brought my concerns up at check out all I got was an awkward "oh OK. We will have somebody check". Nobody offered an apology. Nobody offered compensation of any sort. Nobody tried to make it right. It's as if you they believe that they are entitled to my future business. This couldn't be further from the truth. So when we went down to complain and say we were leaving they refused to refund our money saying that we had already checked in. So the manager goes we'll put you in a different room so we say fine. We get to the room although tiny but it was modern and recently refurbished with new furniture. Based on high tea with amazon local voucher for £21 for a value of £64. Super slow service. We were promptly seated. The menu comes about 5 mins later and there was at least a 20 min wait before tea comes...and still no sign of the cava or the stand. Waiters very scarce and once I spotted one I kindly asked how long the wait is. the response was that chef was swamped..sorry the chef is swamped. We know there's a delay..... With what....cutting crustless bread??? 10mins after , the stand comes with four smoked salmon sandwiches and four cucumber sandwiches. Mind you...those were yhe ONLY ingredients in these sandwiches. No ham no beef no other ingredients. ..nada. On the second plate there were two hard-as-rocks scones with what could be asda's own jam brand. ..this one...reliable. and finally. ..two stale pieces of carrot cake together with four mini donuts dense as if they're carrying the weight of the world on them and with a treacle of runny jam inside. Some marzipan/sugar icing sponge Victoria cake squares completed this honestly unfortunate serving. I am not sure what the hotel's intention on this deal is....I will never go back...and I would not recommend anyone else to go either. It's outrageously overpriced and you are not getting any quality OR value. Calling it a "special menu"might allow for some grace rather than marketing it as "savings of over £40". To make it better cOrus....get a better chef OR a better pricing manager OR train your waiters to actually value customers. ..as sadly this for me is a One time tOny I feel for places that are so ill managed... read more

Room was quite small and outdated. Really need to say the same about the bathroom now that i think of it. I actually didn't mind that too much. The major issue I had was that after about two days the thermostat was no longer allowing me to set temperatures. Being from the U.S., I am used to good air conditioning during warmer weather. I spoke to someone at the front desk and there seem to be no change. The next day I was a little more insistent about someone looking into the problem. They sent a mechanic to my door who asked me what temp I would like. The ac worked for about 2 hours that night. I don't understand what the problem was with the A/C at this place but if that is important to you, you need to go elsewhere. Maybe they didn't want the electric bill or maybe the system was failing. I had the vague impression that the hotel chose to disable our thermostat, especially since the mechanic was able to turn the system on at will. I like AC in warmer weather and therefore will not be staying here ever again. read more

I stayed in this hotel on November 2008, at first I thought it would be a quite hotel since I booked it from lastminute.com and the reviews said it was pretty good. The location really got me going for it. And the price for a 4-star hotel in London was amazing, around £90 a double room makes it really good. But then you arrive there at first, the impressions are pretty good, a big building with a very big lobby/entrance. Nice so far. Then you go the counter and they treat you with contempt and almost ignore you that was a bit rude from them but I thought, I am only here to sleep and that's all. You get to the room and you would think that a room of that size should be a single room it was so small! For that price I would still want to have a proper room I couldn't walk to bed without hitting on the hanger! That really got marks down on the whole experience! But as I said the location and the price (although it doesn't include breakfast, which will set you back on further £7.50 a head) makes this hotel still a valid option. I will try to go elsewhere though read more

If you like your hotel rooms small and outdated. The Corus Hyde Park is just for you. The lobby is fresh and modern but that's where the illusion ends. The elevator doubles as a time capsule and whisks you back in time to the 80s when these rooms were last remodelled. The bed can only be described as 'own brand' and similar to sleeping on a day old muffin. The bathroom is its own hidden gem. Swing open the door too fast and it will ricochet off the toilet right back into your face. If both eyes are still working at that point you'll notice the basin which is about the size of an orange. The shower is over the 1980s bath tub. The shower is like the one from your mates first apartment - never warm and drips like a nose with a winter cold. The staff are pleasant and really try hard in what clearly is a nightmare of a hotel to work in. My experience at the front desk was positive but they appear to be constantly moving guests who complain. When you stay in any hotel you have that image of the room from the web site fixed in your mind. Large, beautifully decorated, cozy bed and a Roman bathhouse complete with concubines. Then reality strikes when you open the door to your given room and it's like opening a Christmas gift from your least favourite aunt. Nice wrapping, appalling sweater. Well that's the rooms at the Corus Hyde Park. Probably decorated by your least favourite aunt. Was it a bargain? Not particularly. Was it available unfortunately yes. If you're reading this review because you're about to press confirm on the booking website I'd suggest you keep looking for other hotels. Just a great bargain stay at Corus hotel last summer. The room was a bit small "English style" but very sleek and modern and my guess would be its been remodeled not to long ago. Comfortable queen size bed, in room safe and nice bathroom was a plus. Nicely situated next to Hyde Park in a safe area and just 5 min walk from the tube. read more

Right slap bang in the middle of Hude Park, its perfect for exploring Knightsbridge etc on foot. there is a near by pub and newsagent which is quite handy, seeing as the complimentary water in my room had its seal broken when we arrived... However the hotel itself doesnt quite measure up to the prices they charge. We were told on arrival we had a complimentary upgrade to a better room...I;d really hate to have seen what they upgraded us from! The room was tiny, the bathroom was old fashioned. there were stains on the walls, the carpet was threadbare and had insects in it but they possibly could have came in from the nearby park. The bed was comfy and did what it was there to do so thats a plus I guess. The included breakfast was a slow experience with not much being replenished and long waits for toast/tea/etc. We were going to order a cheese sandwich at the bar one evening and had an adjustment to make, but were told it was factory made pre ordered sandwiches! For the NINE POUND they charge you, they buy in sandwiches? Come on! They had a bloody restaurant! How hard is it to make a sandwich? Utter laziness. That put me right off. The hotel is OK, but the location is GREAT! The best thing about this place is the location! The worst part is that rooms are very small! I got a really good package on Expedia, so it was inexpensive altogether, although, I'm not sure how much it cost on its own. It is really in a great area. It's nice to be a bit a ways from the busy central, and it still has lots of nice things too enjoy right in the neighborhood. Its right in front of Hyde park, near Padington and Lancaster Gate Station, so you can get anywhere you want from a short walk to either of these stations. Oxford Shopping zone is probably less than a mile down Bayswayer... a straight walk, which is nice with the scenery from the park. The busses pass less than a block away from the hotel, which is great after a day of walking. I guess Lancaster gate station is about that same, just a block away. There is also many restaurants right around the corner on the walk toward Padington Station... everything from Chinese, Italian, Indian... even a small cupcake place. There are also a couple of pubs next door and across Lancaster. As a hotel it is very nice. The building on the outside is pretty and there is a fancy revolving door in front, with a nice lobby when you step in. The rooms and bathrooms are VERY Small. There is no Room to walk around and stretch. Our bed in a single room took up all width of the room but a 12" pathway to walk alongside it. There is a small bathroom. with a sink the size of a mixing bowl. No Ice, no refrigerator! A desk at the edge of the bed was nice because it served as vanity desk for me. The big thing for me was not having a firdge to keep drink cooks or to store snacks, having to walk to store everytime you get thirsty wa a bit of a drag...especially at 2am. The English Breakfast might be good.. but its expensive. What you get there for 10 pounds you can get down the street for less than 5. It might be worth it to get it included in your stay if it is offered for a discount. Although the location is great, if your stay will be longer than a couple days I'd look into other Hotels in that same area... there are lots of them! If the little things matter to you... this is not a good place: no lotion, no ice machine, wake up calls fail, tv turns on and off on its own, they charge to weigh your luggage. read more

The location of the hotel is fantastic. One of the entrances are directly across the street from Hyde Park (or maybe Kensington Park?). Unfortunately, sometimes they won't let you use that door to get out since you'd be walking through the hotel restaurant/bar area. Most of the time it was fine. There's a train station just down the street also that is very useful. The room is VERY small. It's an interesting concept - a fancy hotel in a desirable location with rooms as small (maybe even smaller) than hostels. You get your own bathroom but again, it's a very small bathroom with not a lot of counter space. It seems that they had a desk which we used most of the surface to place stuff because of inadequate shelves, etc in the bathroom and elsewhere in the room. There is a small wall unit to hang clothes/coats in and you can barely squeeze by to get into bed. It works fine for most people, I actually prefer it to having to spend double the price for a room in this location. You should definitely know what you're getting into though so you know what to expect. read more

We booked this as a 4 star hotel with Priceline, and it is not a 4 star hotel, and I am dealing with Priceline with that. Front of hotel is good, people are nice, the piano bar was good and the engery great. The location is perfect. The rooms are aweful. The are tiny, the beds are tiny, and lumpy. the bathrooms are just weird. Be careful not to hit your head in the shower. You may have hot water, depending on time of day. The rooms are clean though, spotless. Just no 4 star or 4 star price worthy. Luckily, we spent only one night here, otherwise my friends would not be talking to me, as I did the booking. Rooms are so outdated. My parents had a "nicer" room on the 10th floor, but actually had to switch rooms because they could hear the elevator. I'm not joking. I had one of those tiny twin bed rooms with my sister, second floor, with an amazing view of the garbage. Think our central air unit was broken because it was a million degrees and no matter what I did I couldn't get the temperature in the room down. Too hot to even sleep. Bar didn't have olives. Lady at front desk was not helpful or friendly when asked a place to eat. The $50/night room I stayed at in Atlantic City was nicer than this dump. read more

Be wary of good pricing at this hotel. Though it sits across the street from Hyde Park amid some toney competition it has some weird room setups: ours was two cramped twin beds with no cabinet storage--not a drawer in the place, only a small rack to hang a few clothes. But here's the topper--check my photos to believe this--a small shower made ergonomically impossible with a "bulkhead" running along the wall. The shower head is pinned against this wall, leaving 18" (I measured) for you to stand. The rooms here are truly awful. The carpets were frayed the headboard was something you might get in a garage sale. The air conditioner wouldn't come on and looked like it had been there since the Second World War. The rooms themselves were very tiny. Imagine a seedy one room hotel. This was extremely far from a 4 star hotel. The staff at the counter acted as if we should have known but given the photos on the website you surly don't see the ratty rooms there. For the price there are plenty of better hotels in London. Don't make the mistake we did. Stay anywhere else. The business rooms are the same size as the ratty rooms we were given we found out after pushing some. The only rooms that would be normal 3 star size are the executive rooms. Both reservations and meeting room bookings had issues. 1. reservation all dates were messed up and staff very poor. Almost all rooms had the wrong check out dates. Luckily i caught it and called. Ask reservation staff to call me if they has any issues and never received a call even with the mess up. 2. meeting room booking. stated multiple time and in person that the meeting room was for business and had to be charged to my colleague for whom i made the room bookings for. Staff again didn't follow instructions and blackmailed her into putting down her personal card for deposit when it was business and instructions clear as to whom should be charged. 3. Manager is absolutely useless please fire him. At no point with all these mess up he apologised or try to fix it him self. I was polite yet he did nothing and even in fixing it he didn't say sorry once or do anything, but just push people around. 4. i spoke to a lady about my room booking one evening on the desk along with requesting to speak to the manager. I wanted her to let the manager know i was disapointed and also giving her information to pass through to her colleagues looking after meeting room bookings as i wanted to extend the duration. No one at this hotel is going the extra mile to assist you here. The room was small but remodeled, the shower situation was crazy, hopefully I can attach a picture words can't describe it. Being located near Hyde Park was awesome I could walk to just about anywhere comforably. Athough afternoon tea was delicious, I don't think I would stay here again because the staff was not helpful at all. Everyone was polite, but everyone was missing some ummff. At breakfast ask the cook to prepare the food or you'll be eating from a cold buffet. They could also use more fruit besides melon. This can't be a four star hotel, they really need to invest in new lobby furniture among other things. My review is for 2.5 starts not 3. read more

This is a beautiful hotel in a great spot right across from Hyde Park. I have to disagree with other reviewers and say the rooms are a very nice size and it's beautiful. The exterior and lobby and restaurant was beautiful. It looked very Victorian. Our only regret was not seeing this hotel first. I will definitely want to stay in this hotel next time in London. They are comfortable, with AC, a continental breakfast and free Wi-Fi and beautiful restaurant that features the wait staff giving impromptu opera performances. I was very impressed. I was only here a night but will definitely look it up the next time I go to London which I hope to be soon. read more

Overall very disappointed in this hotel, booked it expecting good things paying over $200Aus per night (£110) and nice looking rooms on the websites. Arrived to find we could barely open the door far enough to get inside, there was not enough space to even put our bags down, the bed rolled every time it was touched and there was a locked balcony outside which was absolutely filthy anyway. Seeing this was nothing like we'd see or expected from our booking we asked to be moved as we were staying for 4 nights, the hotel was booked out that day though so we were told to return the next morning. We did so and were at no point offered an upgrade of room despite our obvious displeasure at the room condition and lack of resemblance to what is advertised. We were moved to a room with a different configuration (no balcony) which allowed some actually waking space between bed and bathroom and was an improvement but still way way overpriced for the quality of room provided. The buffet breakfast is ok but you need to book a day in advance or you'll be charged double on the day! Location is good and 2 for 1 cocktail hour is nice. The elevators are very outdated and work terribly with all 3 moving simultaneously (most times all would open on the same level at the same time) 1 also got vomited in on our 1st day and still stank 4 days later despite staff being informed of the situation. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location was fantastic, the lobby was very inviting, and the room itself was comfortable and clean. It is only a block from the tube station and across from hyde park. The environment was very quiet, we were never woken up by sounds of traffic or people. The breakfast was way too expensive so we ended up ordering one to our room and sharing it which worked okay. If you're coming from outside the UK, don't forget that the outlets are different so bring converters, otherwise you will have to overpay for it at the hotel vending machine. read more
