The kids love it here too! Perfect place to eat.

We frequent Cosies even though we live in Smiths falls, the atmosphere is wonderful, the service is great and the food is delicious, so it is well worth the drive. The staff here are always friendly and accommodating, the whole family loves it, I highly recommend this place for an enjoyable British breakfast or lunch.

    Full English breakfast! Delicious!!

Cosie's is AMAZING! My husband and I visited during our anniversary weekend and nearly all of the tables were full of happy, chattering people. The atmosphere was lovely and warm and the food was delicious. We both ordered the full English breakfast and some tea for two. The tea was served in a lovely pot with a knitted cosy over it and we were given unique teacups which are shown in the attached image. This was our first time trying black pudding and it was really good! My absolute favourite thing about the breakfast (weirdly enough) was the toast. It was SO GOOD, it tasted like toasted marshmallows or something. I dont know what they do to it but it's amazing. The service was fantastic and though the bill was a little high, it was definitely worth it for the experience and wonderful atmosphere. I definitely recommend visiting if you're in Brockville around breakfast time!

This is a quaint British tearoom with fabulous food. They use hand knitted tea Cosies on the teapots, hence the name. I had the best broccoli cheese soup of my life here. I'm not kidding. Their scones are out of this world too and are served with clotted cream. A true rarity in Canada. (They make their own). If you are anywhere near Brookville, you should try this place out. Stumbled on this cute little place on our way to Ottawa for a soccer game. Creative use of tables, seating... as well as bathroom vanity ( should've taken a picture) Service was friendly, efficient, food was delectable! Great atmosphere for Leisurely breakfast/brunch.

Quaint little cafe in the heart of the town. Friendly service. Great scones, sausage rolls, and Eccles cakes!

My husband and I were in Brockville and wanted to grab some lunch. Truth be told, be initially went…read moreto another cafe but were told they were not serving lunch that day. I was disappointed by that, but because of that we discovered Tait's and are we ever glad that we did! We both got the Tait's Daily Deal, which was $7.95 for a half sandwich, soup and dessert. What a deal indeed. For the sandwich you can have either egg salad or ham (it was not specified but it was cooked ham and not smoked ham), your choice of one of the daily soups (small size), which that day was cream of tomato bacon, or harvest turkey and ham, and your choice of dessert that day, which was coconut cream pie, chocolate pie, or lemon meringue pie. Both my husband and I got the ham sandwich (I got mine on gluten-free bread - I try to eat a gluten-reduced diet, but I can tolerate and do eat gluten. My husband got his on the cheese bread). He got the Cream of Tomato and Bacon soup, and I got the Harvest Turkey and Ham soup. He got the Coconut Cream pie and I got the Lemon Meringue pie. Everything was delicious! I love how you can get so many toppings in your sandwich and the toppings are free. I got lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers and cheddar cheese. There is also no extra charge for gluten-free bread. Since it's a half sandwich you get, they usually take one slice of bread and cut it in half, but the lady said since the gluten-free bread is so small and I was getting the pieces near the end of the loaf, she gave me two slices of bread, otherwise my sandwich would be miniscule, lol. I really appreciated that (as this little girl, actually has a big appetite, haha). Like I mentioned earlier, the ham was cooked ham, and while I much prefer smoked ham, for the price I can't complain too much. The gluten-free bread was delicious, very soft and not crumbly nor dry. My soup was hearty and not too salty, which is usually my complaint with soups. The pies were also delicious. The crust was not overly thick, which is a complaint I usually have with pies. I appreciated the gesture of placing a toothpick in my pie before wrapping it in plastic wrap to prevent the meringue from sticking to the plastic. As you can see from my photo, this action was only partially successful, lol, but that's ok, it still tasted great, and in these times, we are all just trying to do the best with what we have. The staff were really friendly and courteous. We visited during the Covid-19 Pandemic, so staff were wearing masks (mandatory order, masks in all public indoor spaces, so all customers were in masks as well). However, they were not wearing gloves, which I wasn't too crazy about, but they did wash their hands (I would have preferred washed hands PLUS donning of new gloves). Our meals were such a great deal and we were even able to snag one of the tables at the front of the bakery to enjoy our food outdoors (since it was during Stage 2 of restaurant re-openings during the Covid Pandemic so indoor dining was forbidden, but outdoor dining was permitted). The bakery/cafe is on the main drag in Brockville. Street parking only, but parking is free and plentiful in Brockville, even downtown Brockville (yeah, I love small towns for this reason, lol, so different from my hometown of Toronto, haha). Tait's will be our go-to place for lunch from now on when we're in Brockville :)

We stopped at Tait's for lunch, on the way home from Brockville. Initially, we came in for the…read morebakery, but then we discovered the kitchen in the back half of the store was offering lunch. Maybe not 100% of their usual daily fare was on the menu, only lacking on this day because of COVID restrictions. The restaurant does indeed comply with Provincial Regulations, only allowing a certain number of people into the restaurant at a time, and everyone coming in and working in the place was wearing a mask. At the bakery, we asked about a few tempting items, but as we wanted something more substantial than sweet goods, we were guided to the back half of the space where we found a full functioning restaurant; we both knew we'd end up back at the bakery afterwards! Surely there would have been tables and chairs to sit at, if only we weren't in a lockdown. Hubby asked what the specials were, and we were told chicken noodle soup or cream of asparagus soup. He would have ordered the chicken soup, but we asked what was under "door number 3", and he was sold! It was chili, though not on special that day. I ordered a salami sandwich with lettuce, pickle, and mustard, on pumpernickle bread. Everything was tasty enough, as well as affordable. Apparently this place has the best coffee in town, but we had just ordered previously at an other coffee shop. Taking note of this for next time! Back at the bakery section, we purchased a delicious apple cake, day old apple fritters, half a dozen raspberry or date flavoured oatmeal turnovers, and a loaf of multigrain bread. Everything was delicious. I look forward to one day being able to go back to enjoy eating at this establishment.

In we went. I am so glad we did this. It's very unassuming on the outside. Inside it's charming - while aspects of the tea room / restaurant are clearly made with current-day materials, you get the charm of past days with the china, real tea pots and display cases. It's very cute, the tea is excellent and it's a lovely spot to stop by as the days get colder. Like the decor, the food is also, in some ways current day like the rather modern special of the day (a bowl of rise with deliciously spiced chicken and bites of potato). But in other ways it harkens back to older ways with their delicious fresh baked goodies. One thing I appreciated: the servings were right-sized and the prices reflected it. Lunch for 2 with tea, dessert and a 20% tip (service was excellent) was around what I'd pay at a chain for a single meal alone.

On the recommendation of a young girl that we encountered en route to Almonte we decided to try this place with "great pies". It was so much more than that. Charming, quaint and friendly are words that come to mind. The owner and staff were funny and warm and their offerings were world class! We enjoyed fresh, handmade quiche, soup, salads and pie & cake that were to die for. My wife had the decadent butterscotch pie with 20 inches of merengue (slightly exaggerated) and I had THE BEST piece of carrot cake on Earth (no exaggeration). While dining we took up a conversation with a couple of locals who eventually took us on a tour of the town and even welcomed us into their home for a glass of wine. Truly a wonderful day.
