A dedicated GF menu had my mouth watering before we arrived! I had escargots with GF bread (forgot to take a photo, but they were amazing!). Then came the Indo Stir Fry, enough for 3 meals (thank goodness for take-home boxes!) And crème brûlée for dessert (missed that photo op too!) A perfect date night starts with a trip to the Buell Street Bistro which was decorated for Valentines Day week with a special menu for the occasion. I love the intimate setting in this historic building. In the summer I can see the outdoor patio as an equally nice dining area. The menu although small is well plated and perfectly cooked. Our waitress was attentive and not intrusive. We had both the stuffed chicken and pork tenderloin with vegetables and mashed potatoes and roasted potatoes. Desert was not a problem as we shared the Crème Brûlée and a chocolate raspberry ice cream. I would definitely recommend for the couple looking for a nice night out. This restaraunt oozes charm and sophistication. The warm bread was served at the perfect temperature with both butter and olive oil with balsamic vinegar. I had the New Orelans Saute which was a generous mixture of shrimp, sausage and chicken along with mushrooms and other vegetables. The plating reminded me of an Indian entree but the flavor was solidly Cajun. The marinated chicken plate was served with a fantastic buffet of root vegetables including roasted sweet and white potatoes, carrots and spinach. Desert was fun. We thought a tarfufo would be some sort of tart but the ice cream treat that came out was a pleasant surprise. Rich chocolate ice cream on the outside and a tart intense raspberry core with fresh whipped cream and some berries accompanied it. Everything we ate was great and seemed to have an eye towards balanced meals. There weren't a lot of creamy cheesy heavy dishes on the menu which is unusual for a place that leans towards fine dining. Like their patio area! A hidden gem in the streets during a summer night. Food are well cooked and served. Happy to see they have some Asian/ Vegan options on their menu, this is not easy for visitors to find in Brockville. The staff are all very friendly and professional. My girlfriend and I visited Brockville on Tuesday, August 4th. We got to the restaurant late. (About 8:50). The doors were still unlocked so we went in. I asked the server if they were still open for dinner? In a mean voice she replied..... NO! Can't you see the outside light are off! Then she followed us out the door and pointed and said.... "see." The owner of this establishment should know he has lost us forever! The real question is... how many other people has this employee chased out that will never come back? I say boycott this place! My husband and I had dinner here when we were in Brockville. It's a cute little restaurant, and the food was good, albeit too rich/creamy/oily for my tastes. I had the Seafood Crepe ($22). It was full of large chunks of salmon, large shrimp and good sized scallops. There were 2 crepes and they were baked in a very rich and creamy lobster sauce topped with cheese. I think I ate my monthly allotment of butter and cream in that dish. I honestly think it would have tasted better if it was less rich. However, it was still tasty and I was impressed with the generous amount of seafood. It came with a rice pilaf which was flavourful, but a bit on the oily side. It also came with vegetables. When I first got my plate, I thought there was a pile of spaghetti next to the rice, but it turned out to be squash (and thank goodness because rice AND pasta would have been carb overload!). Along with the squash, there was cauliflower, carrots and cherry tomatoes. The cauliflower had a nice curry note to it. The vegetables were also a bit on the oily/greasy side. My husband had the grill special of the day ($29) which was an 8oz striploin steak with shitake mushroom risotto, and the same grilled vegetables as my dish. His meal also came with a soup or salad. He chose the soup, which was a bacon and corn chowder that day. The only thing I tasted of his was the risotto and it was delicious. My husband really enjoyed his meal. Our server was Taylor and she was really nice and she was attentive. She refilled my water without prompting, and checked up on us appropriately. Their main entrance is on Buell Street, but they also have a wheelchair accessible entrance on George Street. They have a nice patio as well (we didn't sit there, but saw it on our way in). I would go back, but I would try maybe a salad (with the dressing on the side) or something less filled with butter/oil/cream, lol. read more

I have been to this place a few times, first time we were sitting inside, second time outside. Both setting area are wonderful. In the summer outside sitting is very nice. I've had their seafood crepe which was fantastic and when we came back I wanted to order it again but they have removed it from the menu but instead they had similar dish Seafood thermidor but with no crepe inside which was very good as well. The service was very nice and attentive. I would definitely come back and have the same dish again :) read more

We wanted this place to be great. There really is no guaranteed great dining places in Brockville. The ambiance in the outdoor patio is wonderful. But indoors of out the food is just okay at best. The steak was poor- tough and with a long seam of gristle that should have been trimmed away. Inexcusable in a restaurant professing quality. Other dishes- over two visits- were unremarkable. My second experience here, and things went better. I have a lot of dietary restrictions and our server Alex was so accommodating, it set me at ease. I ordered the lamb with sauce on the side and side salad, made for me without the usual ingredients in the salad I can't have. They dressed the salad in simple oil and balsamic for me. Stranded by a snowstorm in Brockville, I was hungry early and tried the BSB. Attractive decor; centrally located; varied menu including pasta, salads and interesting mains ranging chicken to steak to duck. I tried the roast lamb sirloin ordered medium-rare with a glass of French red. It came as four thick slices, with a nice sauce, all of which were overdone except one which was medium-well. The roast potatoes and mixed veg were fine. The server, Susie, agreed that the lamb was quite overcooked and I heard her so advise the chef. She offered to replace the meat but I was too hungry to wait another 20 minutes -- and I will admit that the lamb was of very good quality and still tasty in the way my mother used to cook it -- so she reduced the cost 30% and comped me a glass of wine as well. She handled this well but the chef should NOT have sent this plate out of the kitchen without an apology... or something. Total bill including tip came to $33. Not bad for a disappointing meal, I guess. I feel that it is hard to rate this place based on just one experience and locals highly recommend the BSB. The overall quality of the meal was very good so I will assume that the the overcooked meat was an unfortunate aberration. I would try this resto again especially given that a good menu is very hard to find in Brockville. read more

Great atmosphere. Went here for a first date and was impressed with the romantic low lighting and classy look for the place. Excellent soft background music you could hardly hear, but the essence was there. Service was a little slow, despite it not being very busy, and we waited at least 15 minutes just to have our drink orders taken. Our waitress was a little awkward and lacked people skills, but she seemed nice enough. I ordered the "Magnifico" pasta. It was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely amazing. My cocktail was perfectly mixed. Wasn't too strong and tasted excellent. I was here a few weeks ago and it was absolutely amazing!! Best dining experience I've had in 10 years! Service was impeccable, the food was outstanding! Atmosphere made me feel like I was able to go on a vacation and it's right here in Brockville. I went back 5 days later, food was good but our server Jen was terrible!! She criticized me, yelled at me, included other guests in her battle with me. I was humiliated! I've never been treated like that before in my life. Horrifying! We paid the bill as we were afraid she would chase us down and physically attack me. How sad is that? Darby made it better. I eventually spoke to Lynda who was sympathetic. I'm only putting in this negative in case anyone else won't go there anymore because of Jen. No worries, she no longer works there. Whoo hoo! So give it another chance. I was there last night, Chef Marc was on point, the food was again amazing. Of course Darby was her usual exceptional self. We chose the Buell St. Bistro for what was to be a special occasion. All of the salmon as well as the chicken was overcooked and dry. The green beans and carrots were nice but the squash was hard as a rock. The mussels were wonderful. Cocktails arrived mid appetizers. It was not busy. We went out for my husbands birthday, the service was excellent. They were prompt, friendly and efficient. The appetizers we had were bruschetta bread and the baked Brie, both were excellent, hubby had a steak it was done perfectly to his preference and all of the accompaniments were equally delicious! I had the seafood skillet again the fish ( despite having two small bones ) the scallops and shrimped were magnificent( they catered my meal to my Keto preference which was greatly appreciated) my son had the chicken breast ( again catered to his Keto preference) sauces were all exceptional! Even though I have only been here once, I highly recommend this place. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the prices were quite reasonable. I had the surf and turf while my wife had a seafood pasta. Both were delicious and the portion sizes left us so full we were barely able to walk home. If you asked me to describe the ugliest restaurant I could imagine, Buell Street Bistro would be as close to the picture in my head as I could have possibly imagined. A word of advice: The first room that your customers walk into....should be the nicest room. Second piece of advice. If you are going to charge 32$ for a filet mignon, splurge and get some menu's that weren't hand me downs from a 1980's New York deli. Last piece of advice, don't put napkins in your wine glasses, that's absolutely ridiculous. The only thing saving this restaurant is it's patio; HOWEVER, the chairs were about as comfortable as sitting next to a fat person with a cold on an eight-hour flight. Service was decent, but I don't like being told the specials from a note pad. If your servers aren't smart enough to memorize them then maybe they shouldn't' be serving. read more

Had made reservations for dinner Feb 13 arrived for our 5:30 reservation to discover we were not on the list !!! After somewhat awkward moments we were seated. Food was just OK! Lobster was very small not sure they could sell them that small) My steak was ordered medium however came out so rare that I could not eat it so chewing and raw I could barely swallow it !
