    A late Valentine Day dinner...
    Brian P.

A perfect date night starts with a trip to the Buell Street Bistro which was decorated for Valentines Day week with a special menu for the occasion. I love the intimate setting in this historic building. In the summer I can see the outdoor patio as an equally nice dining area. The menu although small is well plated and perfectly cooked. Our waitress was attentive and not intrusive. We had both the stuffed chicken and pork tenderloin with vegetables and mashed potatoes and roasted potatoes. Desert was not a problem as we shared the Crème Brûlée and a chocolate raspberry ice cream. I would definitely recommend for the couple looking for a nice night out. This makes for a great start.

Like their patio area! A hidden gem in the streets during a summer night. Food are well cooked and served. Happy to see they have some Asian/ Vegan options on their menu, this is not easy for visitors to find in Brockville. The staff are all very friendly and professional. Suggest you try if you are in that area.

My husband and I had dinner here when we were in Brockville. It's a cute little restaurant, and the food was good, albeit too rich/creamy/oily for my tastes. I had the Seafood Crepe ($22). It was full of large chunks of salmon, large shrimp and good sized scallops. There were 2 crepes and they were baked in a very rich and creamy lobster sauce topped with cheese. I think I ate my monthly allotment of butter and cream in that dish. I honestly think it would have tasted better if it was less rich. However, it was still tasty and I was impressed with the generous amount of seafood. It came with a rice pilaf which was flavourful, but a bit on the oily side. It also came with vegetables. When I first got my plate, I thought there was a pile of spaghetti next to the rice, but it turned out to be squash (and thank goodness because rice AND pasta would have been carb overload!). Along with the squash, there was cauliflower, carrots and cherry tomatoes. The cauliflower had a nice curry note to it. The vegetables were also a bit on the oily/greasy side. My husband had the grill special of the day ($29) which was an 8oz striploin steak with shitake mushroom risotto, and the same grilled vegetables as my dish. His meal also came with a soup or salad. He chose the soup, which was a bacon and corn chowder that day. The only thing I tasted of his was the risotto and it was delicious. My husband really enjoyed his meal. Our server was Taylor and she was really nice and she was attentive. She refilled my water without prompting, and checked up on us appropriately. Their main entrance is on Buell Street, but they also have a wheelchair accessible entrance on George Street. They have a nice patio as well (we didn't sit there, but saw it on our way in). I would go back, but I would try maybe a salad (with the dressing on the side) or something less filled with butter/oil/cream, lol.

I have been to this place a few times, first time we were sitting inside, second time outside. Both setting area are wonderful. In the summer outside sitting is very nice. I've had their seafood crepe which was fantastic and when we came back I wanted to order it again but they have removed it from the menu but instead they had similar dish Seafood thermidor but with no crepe inside which was very good as well. The service was very nice and attentive. I would definitely come back and have the same dish again :)

After hearing some recent reviews on a Manotick Facebook group, we decided to give them another shot almost a year later. We used the online ordering system and our order was ready on time for pick up. I ordered the Lamb Souvlaki Platter ($26.95) and added in the comment section that I wanted the meat to be done medium-rare. It came with two skewers. My wife ordered the Keftedes Platter ($22.95), which she heard from others was really good. Each platter came with Greek rice, medallion potatoes, Greek salad and tzatziki sauce. The rice was a little more plain than we would have hoped, but it improved once we squeezed the provided lemon over top of it ourselves. The medallion potatoes had yummy dry seasoning sprinkled on top. Next time we will ask for more of that dry seasoning in the comments in the online ordering system because it was delicious, but not spread very evenly. The Greek salad was fresh and tasty with a good amount of feta and the dressing was packed on the side. The tzatziki sauce was thick and creamy. We also ordered a Pita Bread ($2) to go with everything. Now let's talk about the meat! Wow! We were impressed with both the Lamb Souvlaki and the Keftedes (4 mini meat patties). All the flavours and spices used were perfect, plus the cook on the meat was very memorable. We kept raving about the meat throughout the meal, savouring every bite. We would easily go back again just for how good the meat was! We're also curious now about how they would handle seafood like their Calamari Platter. The food is slightly more expensive than Cozmo's on Greenbank, but the quantity is fair and the quality is excellent for the meat.

It took some time for them to get the order ready and something was missing so we had to just run back in. We ordered: Gyro Poutine - fries were great. The gravy was not very flavourful and the gyros were quite salty. I also wished they had used real squeaky cheese but I did like the crumbled feta. Overall a nice poutine. Lamb Shank - the rich tomato sauce was absolutely delicious and my favourite part of this dish. Really lovely. The lamb itself was actually a bit bland, though it was fairly soft and easy to just tear in pieces off the bone. There were roasted veggies and greek lemony potatoes which were nice, but the rice was really quite so dull. It was really mushy and reminded me a bit of cafeteria rice. Without the tomato sauce, I think this dish would have felt rather flat. Fried Calamari - it was really heavily breaded, but seasoned well. The sauce had a little kick to it which was nice. I think maybe it was just left a bit too long in the frier. It's a decent option to grab a bite if you're in town.

I ordered a gyro sandwich with onion rings and a glass of wine. Everything was tasty, it came out quickly, and we were entertained by a live band while we waited! Lynn was our host and server. With the live music - clean atmosphere - and dim lighting, it was a lovely place to enjoy our meal and wind down from a long day of exploring this lovely city.

We were happy that we did decide to give this place a try, as it was everything that we had expected, and more! When we walked-in, we were greeted by a young man, that asked if we wanted take-out or dine-in. We chose dine-in however, the restaurant was quite busy at the time so, we had to be seated at a table near the front entrance. Upon sitting, we noticed the iPad that was on the table for ordering. We were also given paper menus to look at, which was easier. Once we had placed our orders, we waited only about ten minutes for our salads to arrive, along with the hummus and pita bread. The salads were absolutely amazing; the bowls were filled to the brim with cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, olives, and feta cheese. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty, and that dressing, WOW; it was delicious! It tied the salad in so well, it was the best salad we had ever tried at a Greek restaurant. The hummus was also delicious, with heated-up pita bread creating the finishing touches. This hummus was definitely homemade, and marvellous! We even asked for an additional pita, as the one we had wasn't enough for the four of us. This appetizer was definitely a great start! Once our main meals arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at how large the portions were. And the homemade sauce on top of the rice was wonderful; I don't know how they made the sauce, but it was perfect with the rice. The chicken was tender, with the tzatziki sauce not being needed often due to the tenderness. The potatoes were huge, and deliciously spiced. The meal was massive, and we couldn't finish it all; definitely worth what we had paid for! Throughout the entire meal, the server checked on us, bringing us water when we had asked, and making sure we were well taken care of. As we were leaving, the owner/chef asked where we were visiting from, and if we enjoyed the food. This place was hands-down the best Greek restaurant that we've ever been to; down to earth family-owned, amazing food, and great hospitality. Will definitely be back, and would recommend that you all try it as well; you won't be disappointed!
