I LOVE everyone here. I had not been to a dentist in 10 years because I was scared and embarrassed and how bad I let my teeth get. My first visit was incredible with them kindly giving me some news I wasn't happy to hear yet the way they told me was kind, heart felt, and reassuring that it's ok and I will get my smile back over time. I had a surgery done recently and they made me feel so loved. I was super nervous and they communicated with me the entire time so I knew how things were going. I called a week later to see if I could have my post op appointment sooner. They got me in same day. Not only were they accommodating, but every single hygienist I have met all remembered me, said hi and took time to check in on me. I'm so grateful to have found them and would recommend them to anyone. Thank you to the entire staff. I now look forward to going to the dentist. read more

First of all, I want to say that everyone staffed at CDI was very friendly, compassionate, and caring. However, I went to this Clinic to seek help with some bothersome and sharp teeth from my grinding. My original online consultation was with Dr. Goldin, who told me in a video that he saw obvious signs of the issues and sharp teeth I had complained about. After my original consultation, they realized I had a few cavities that would need to be fixed before they could resolve my issue, simple enough! I understand that some cavalries could compromise my teeth in the long run, even small ones. However, with all of these fillings, out of pocket it was nearly $3,000. A price I was happy to pay, assuming they would stand by their original statement. Then I was given to Dr. Whalen who also was very friendly. He did my fillings and I have almost no complaints about those compared to everything else. However, the CROWN I GOT IS TERRIBLY FLAWED. I know that the crown are manufactured in a lab but this thing is terrible and is totally made to the wrong shape. DO NOT GET A FILLING HERE UNLESS YOU WANT PAIN AND MISERY. I have tried to have it adjusted multiple times to no avail, and will likely have to end up getting the tooth pulled sometime soon when I can afford it, as the experience has been so terrible I'd rather have no tooth at all. However, after I had set up my appointment for my "Occlusal Adjustment" to fix my misaligned bite, when I arrive, only to be interrogated by Dr. Goldin on how he doesn't see the issues that I am clearly pointing out to why I had originally visited in the first place. Very frustrating experience and am now just as unhappy and uncomfortable if not more than before after all the work I had done and now, $3,000 more broke. read more

I went to Dr Goldin as he was VERY highly rated BUT after several services that were rendered I found him to be very RUDE, Aggressive and un-willing to REALLY listen to my issues (which are complicated) and I decided to return to my prior Dentist, Whom I loved but he's a very long drive! Also, their pricing is sky high - which in turn I would have not mentioned but if you can get 100% from the Doctor serving your NEEDS, why pay 150% for those services. I certainly don't need an ANGRY Dentist drilling on my mouth! Time for him to RETIRE - he is obviously very Burnt out. The Hygienist was AMAZING - front desk staff needs some training and should never be calling in RX for patients! They called in Penicillin which I am allergic to and was on my file! also I had to contact them 2 days prior to a Sedation Surgery for meds to be called over - they never even bothered to contact me. meds called in after 3pm the night before the Appt. & the Pharmacy didnt even have them in stock....so Surgery did not happen.....it was so Un-organized. way too much stress. When I arrived and Dr Goldin scolded ME like I was a child who had WASTED HIS TIME....I had spent 2 full days tracking these meds down when his staff should have been doing their JOB......That was it for me 100% DONE with this Dentist from BLANK BKANK........ read more

I am surprised by the negative reviews. I had a great experience. I had seen Dr. Whalen who I didn't find pushy or anything while going over my plan of care. He was very thorough during the exam. He addressed my concerns and established a plan of care that I agreed with and went over future plans. The hygienist was great and gentle, probably the most gentle cleaning I have ever had done. Beware of groupon teeth whitening coupon. They'll perform unsolicited teeth cleaning procedures and charge you and your insurance for the work. I paid $199 for teeth whitening through a groupon promotion thinking they would only whiten my teeth but a few months later I received a bill of $1000 for what they told me was routine procedure. Additionally, they advertised a free paraffin wax treatment but I never got one. Avoid these scam artists. read more

Dr. Whalen and staff are the absolute best. He is extremely thorough and takes the time to explain all options. After suffering for over a decade with TMJ pain (that caused terrible headaches and migraines) I am symptom free and feeling great. I also had my teeth whitened before my wedding and they look great. They recommended tips for the sensitivity that normally happens after whitening that really helped (using sensitive toothpaste is a must). Dr. Whalen has also done my fillings. Throughout the procedure he was always checking to make sure I was ok and my bite is perfect, can't even tell I had fillings done. Thank you to all of the amazing staff (the hygienists and assistants are all amazing!) and especially Dr. Whalen, you have a life long patient. As someone who enjoys reading reviews - I'll try to keep this frank and to the point, but touching on the points I feel are important. I HATED going to the dentist - bad experiences as a kid. After a little 5 year hiatus, let's just say I had a lot of work to get done including some harder visits. The entire staff is incredibly friendly. Robbie worked with me over the course of 2 years helping ensure I got the most out of my insurance, HSA, FSA, and normal bills. Furthermore, Dr. Goldin ensured I had as enjoyable a visit as a terrified and apprehensive person could. On top of that, my sister-in-law, who is a dental assistant, said that the work was top notch. They have made it enjoyable for me to go back to the dentist (as much as one could at least) and I really appreciate all of them for it. Even after moving 2 hours away, we still make the drive back to Troy for CDI. As an aside, they have movies you can watch during longer visits that can definitely take your mind off the excavating going on in your mouth (for me at least), a massage chair to help with the nerves, paraffin wax hand dips (my fiancé likes that part), and just a great set of cheerful, smiling, caring employees. read more

Epic waste of money. Neither I nor anyone I've asked notices a difference in the whiteness of my teeth. At home white strips do a better job. I was misled that this was a laser whitening and its actually 3 hours of bleaching. The pain is unbelievable both during and afterward. The dentist didn't check at the end of the process to make sure everything was alright. Also, trying to book the appointment and leading up to it was difficult as the front desk staff didn't answer during business hours. It took them 6 weeks to tell me what the cost would be and they make you pay in full over the phone before you even come in. read more

Dr. Whalen and staff at Cosmetic Dentistry Institute are fabulous! I have been suffering for years from bridge work performed 30 years ago by another dentist. I thought I would have to live with it until I consulted with Dr. Whalen. He explained everything he could do to help correct my problem and I am now pain free. I will be a patient for life! I would like to quote the comment of one of the reviewers- "con artists is understatement. All they want is $$$ from your pocket....big joke" Watch out for yourself including how they charge you. Unfortunately I didn't come to Yelp to check out their reputation first. I got my bridge done. However I was charged at the price of individual porcelain crown by the number of the teeth on the bridge. It was not until I received the statement from my insurance company did I realize that they charged me incorrectly and my insurance company denied the way of their billing. Secondly, their dental work is a horrible. The bridge does not bite together with my teeth and totally changed/messed up my biting, which caused my other teeth to grind my own teeth!! And the bridge around the gum line was so poorly done, I feel the sensitivity when I brush my teeth. And the best part is that I was requested to sign on a form stating that I was satisfied with the color and shape of the dental work on the day they put my bridge on. I am seeking legal advice to see if there is anything I can do to protect my right as a customer. The dentist's name is David Whalen. All the suggestion I heard from Whalen was to pull out my own teeth and perform other expensive procedures. Try to avoid someone who is only aiming at your pocket and not what is good for the patient, someone who is lack of professional Ethics, which is the least I can suggest. read more

Over the last couple years I have chosen to change dentists 3 times because I didn't feel I was getting the care I needed not deserved. I had been holding on to an article for Cosmetic Dentistry Institute for years when I finally said, it's time I check them out. Wow, I am SO glad I did. My initial visit/consultation was so informative and I felt like I was welcomed into a new family. The care I received was top notch. I learned SO much about my teeth...things I should've already known had my other dentists actually took the time with me that I deserved. The dentist and staff at this office is top notch. Beware of this practice. It is very clear from speaking to this con artist, that all he wants to do is make money. They'll perform unnecessary procedures on you to make money. Nurse Robbie, who works there was extremely rude once I told her I wanted to take more time to think about the several procedures they told me I needed. They will literally force you to upsell your visit by throwing consent forms in your lap while you're on the dental chair, without discussing cost or potential other options. I went in for a consultation and they were excellent. There was a bit of a wait but that was partly due to needing extra things done. Dr. Golden seemed professional, kind, experienced & skilled. I recently had went into this dentist office to get my teeth bleached and some small amount of bonding done. During my first consultation I was there 2 hours (which was a bit long) but they requested I get x-rays from them before they could really tell me what I was looking at. During the consultation they mentioned veneers vs bonding and also possible other dental work. I left the appointment kind of confused, mostly because I have a regular dentist that I go to religiously and have for the last 8 years. I also probably see my dentist around 6 times a year for cleanings and any extras I feel I need ( I do like having a great smile). Anyways, when I returned a week and 1/2 later for a cleaning and bonding (to make sure the whitening took better on freshly cleaned teeth they suggested) I saw the doc again and he again reiterated his suggests but told me it's my choice, which I respected. I told him I'm not interested in the veneers or other work and that I would just like the bonding. I felt so pressured at one point that I told the doctor that no disrespect but why are they coming up with all this work I need and my regular dentist has never mentioned it (mind you I really trust my regular dentist, she has taken care of me and never pressured me into anything and I have never had a problem paying for any of her recommended work). Dr. Whalen at the cosmetic dentistry institute had explained he is foreseeing problems that COULD occur in the distant future. Ok, I got that, but I explained I didn't come in for that and the day and time that distant future comes I will address those issues. The doctor also kept telling me I don't need to make a decision until my next appointment regarding the veneers vs bonding. To that I replied I already know I want the bonding ( I have invested a lot of time and money into my natural teeth so I would like to preserve them as long as I can. At this point I thought they all got what I wanted, but nope. The best part comes when the girl who did my bleaching made me wait in the room for about 10 minutes after I was done to check out (I prepaid so I wasn't sure what I was waiting for). So I could finally go and when I get to the front desk the girl gives me the estimate for VENEERS.. I was like are you kidding me. I already declined this procedure, so at this point I was getting pissed off so I just walked out. I have since cancelled my next appointment to finish the work and found a doctor that will do the work I am looking for. Point blank this place is just in it for the money. I suggest finding a doctor you can trust.. I definitely don't feel I could trust these people even if they have good/decent quality work. read more

My experience has been exceptional ! The front office staff offers that personal touch and actively listens to their patient's needs and requests. The staff is professional, dedicated, insightful and helpful . They all make you feel special and that you are having that Beverly Hills top notch spa experience right here at home. This experience complete with extras from fluoride to massage is unbeatable no matter if it's a simple cleaning to something more engaging such as veneers. This office will rip you off, and people who are working there have no integrity, all they care about is money. After looking at their misleading website, I went to the office wanting to get a dental implant for one of my teeth. The first visit already gave me an impression that they were not direct, something kind sneaky. And later I paid over $2000.00 before I even got to see the doctor, I had to push to let the lady to tell me the additional cost for the implant that I wanted, and in the end it's way over $10,000.00 for one dental implant. This office charges everything and over charges everything to an immoral level, you ended up feeling fooled, and you don't want encourage anyone to operate business like that. read more

Con artists is an understatement. This place is an absolute joke. All they care about is taking your money and NOT about what is best for the patient. I'm a 25 year old healthy adult with perfectly healthy and nice teeth. I went here to possibly get some bonding work done on two of my teeth just for cosmetic purposes. The doctor tried talking me into veneers (which essentially leaves your real teeth at the same thickness of an eggshell)... then told me if I wanted to do the bonding he would do it but it wouldn't look good and would cost me $1,800 none of which is covered by insurance... this was all a lie. I went to another dentist who said bonding would absolutely be an option for me... and cost me $600 which is All covered by my insurance accept for $68.... interesting right? read more

Horrible. Almost at the tip of his tongue to just say remove all your teeth and get implants. I'm a healthy 30 year old always floss no problems with past dental visits. Came in as I'm new to the area, all of a sudden I needed crowns everywhere and implants, with one filling exception. He performed the filling first after trying to pressure me of how I should remove my teeth and get implants. He did the filling extremely wrong, charged me every time I came in, even though it probably should have been free, but he charges insurance (most likely insurance fraud). Went to different doctor and they said my teeth were fine except the horrible filling that Whalen (Shouldn't be referred to as Dr.) performed. I'm not sure if other Drs there are the same. But I've never experienced used car salesman tactics being used at a professional office to try to get teeth out. I don't think he knows much about dentistry actually uses the same example, where he puts his right fist in the air and cups it with his left to explain why he should do implants and crowns. Judging by his tactics I would assume the fist move is the only class he attended in dentistry school, and most likely cheated on all tests (not sure if he went to accredited school) also many cases of doctors using fake certificates to practice, also not sure if he his degree is real or not either way. I would not visit this practice based on him, and if you do definitely DO NOT get stuck with him read more

I've been really disappointed with this business. I was left today for a whole hour with a numb mouth and wasn't informed that the dentist was covering someone else! Finally, he came back in and said he was only human and couldn't help it. All I wanted was to know what was going on. I feel like they forgot me! He hurried through my cavity and even pulled on my mouth with floss and I started tearing up! It was the worst visit there yet! I don't care how pretty the place looks, it's the quality of care that I'm interested in. Then, when I asked about my large bill and noticed how different the numbers were from the "estimate last week". If it's an estimate, then I'd rather just pay for the final bill when they are finished. I also tried to inquire about teeth whitening, and I got 3 different quotes! I guess there is a referral system and basically they can decide how much to charge according to the offers the whitening company gives out from time to time, but I also have a friend that had her daughters teeth whitened for free?!?! I feel like they pull numbers out of the air and treat their long time clients favorably, but not anyone else. I've been careful and have asked many questions about my teeth, and I felt very belittled and that I needed all of my current silver teeth re-filled because there was a tiny cavity forming apparently. Is that really necessary?! I hope you're smart and find another dentist. I know I am! read more
