Believe the positive reviews. This place is great! Tina is awesome and Hope (the receptionist) is so incredibly nice. My former salon lost me after 2 of my favorite technicians ended up leaving back to back and the replacements were just meh. Looking at all of the mediocre reviews for nail salons in Wards 7 and 8, I was afraid that I'd have to drive uptown or to MD or VA--which would have been a huge inconvenience. And then I stumbled across the reviews for Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge. Score! I walked in on a Thursday afternoon and requested Tina simply bc so many reviewers had raved about her. She took me right away and she was fantastic! She noted that my previous set had been done very well (I had them done at Magic Nails in Chicago (Oakbrook) and they were AMAZING)--but then she said that she could make them even better (thinner, better shape)---and she DID!! She also said that she would make sure that I came back--and she did that as well. She asks what you want and delivers and her skill level and attention to detail are exceptional. At first I wasn't sure of this place, it took a little while to be seated even with an appointment. I thought my tech was a little too rough but after a week I'm a believer. For the first time ever not a single one of my gel manicure have chipped. I thought this didn't happen like unicorns, I've always expected on finger to have a break or fall off but I'm a whole new person now. The atmosphere and vibe was amazing they were turning people away at the door. So again I recommend an appointment every time. But from now on this is where I'm getting my nails done. I submitted an inquiry via a form on their website asking if they carry a certain type of nail polish and have yet to hear back from them. This was an incredibly simple inquiry that should have taken minimal time to respond to. Very disappointing that they have an inquiry form on their site, yet when you use it, you get no response. The neighborhood was definitely lacking a nail salon so I was so excited one was opening. I went last weekend (Sunday) and got a mediocre pedicure and gel manicure that chipped after two days (Tuesday). I finally had time to get my manicure fixed on Friday, and they were so kind about the bad service. The staff even let me pick a different gel polish because the woman at the desk had the same color and admitted hers were bubbling off after a few days so we weren't sure if it was just a bad bottle. I rarely write reviews, but it is now Sunday (two days after I got my nails fixed) and the polish is falling off again. They blamed the bad manicure last week on the UV light machine they used initially, so used a different one on Friday. Clearly that isn't the problem as I'm left needing to go back again this week to get my manicure fixed. I've never had an issue like this with gel polish, and have to say that it is worth the effort to go to one of the salons in Eastern Market. read more

Been looking for a nail salon since I recently moved into the the area. I set up an appointment for the same day online which was super easy be convenient. The salon is right beside the Arris. Hope the receptionist was super friendly and made sure everything was g2g with my appointment. Katie was my nail tech...AWESOME! The nail salon is modern, clean and relaxing. The pedicure chair is a massage chair. I got a pedicure and gel manicure...which took only an hour! Katie did an amazing job on my nails! Will definitely recommend this salon. read more

I've been here 3 times. It looks clean, modern and new. The nail techs are pleasant. The reasons for 4 stars is 1) I like the idea of their online reservation system. Even though I reserve in advance I still end up waiting up to 10 mins for any nail technician. I've made appointments online at OTHER nail salons and when I arrive for my appointment the nail technician is ready with my chair. 2) they need more nail polish brands and color selections. It's predominantly OPI polishes. Would like to see more options from Essie and Zoya. Would be amazing if they offered brands I've used in NYC like Chanel, MAC, or NARS. read more

I entered this establishment as a walk-in along with 6 other women who came after me who just so happened to get a seat before i did. I was there for a fill-in and never asked for a specific nail tech. I don't understand why the next available nail tech wasn't able to assist me but was able to assist someone who just walked in the door. The nail tech behind the counter even finished up with his customer and looked me in my eyes, knowing what I was waiting on but approached the lady who just walked in the door. It was a disheartening experience so I got up and left. I had already been waiting 20 minutes. Seeing everyone who was a walk-in get assisted before I did. I can understand the first two women but with no exaggeration at least 4/5 other women followed. I wasn't rude or loud. I just wanted a fill-in. My first nail experience in DC and that's what happens. Thank you but no thank. read more

I scheduled a morning appointment thinking that it wouldn't be too busy and morning would be the best time to go. As it turns out, one other customer had an appointment for the same time, but when we got there, nobody was there, not even the receptionist. After waiting for about 15 minutes, a technician arrived and the other woman waiting for her appointment was taken back. I waited another 5 minutes or so only to be told that the only other technician there was unable to provide the service I had an appointment for! So then I had to wait another 15 minutes or so for a qualified technician. By this time there were several walk ins and a shortage of technicians and you could tell that the staff was stressed by the amount of clients coming in. My pedicure was terrible! The nail tech hardly did ANY exfoliating and the polish began chipping on the 3rd day. My finger nails (acrylic/coffin nails) were mediocre. It's also useful to know that they only accept cash tips here. All in all I had a less than average experience; I went for the convenience of being near where I live. I just went for the first time and had a wonderful experience! I have been going to the same place on the hill which was more expensive and hard to get an appointment with for over 5 years. I was reluctant to try a new place but tried this out bc its right in my building. The space is clean and bright. the best news was that one of my favorite nail techs- Sunny- from my last nail place moved to this salon! She is wonderful- i totally recommend her and i am super picky! they also had all my favorite polishes, a very nice waiting area, options for drinks, plenty of magazines, everything you'd be looking for in a salon. After almost two weeks my gel manicure is STILL totally intact! I don't love the color but I'm the one who chose it so not their fault. I think he was a little stingy with the coats of polish but he did do a third coat when I asked so really I've got no complaints! I have been to nail lounge twice to have my eyebrows waxed. Twice as expensive than your average nail salon ($14) but I returned for a second time because I was very happy with the job they did the first. I felt bad because I don't carry cash with me and they only accept cash tips, so each time I was unable to tip which I still feel guilty about. I finally went for a gel pedicure the other week which was a whopping $55 dollars. I knew it would be pricey since it's DC but I can pay that price for a gel pedi in addition to a mani elsewhere, to which I will. The nail technician I had was pretty friendly, but only spent about 30 seconds with the lotion, foot and leg massage, hot towel, etc. which for me sets a salon apart from any other. (Idk about y'all but I don't pay $55 dollars to have a little polish painted on my nails... heck I work in a dental office I can light cure my own gel polish if that's all I'm coming in for.) I feel bad that most of this rant is full of complaints, but don't get me wrong I do enjoy coming here and the interior is pretty bougie. They do seem to have the right amount of staff on duty to handle their large crowds which is excellent and not typically the case in most nail salons. read more

My first visit to this nail salon, my nail tech was Tina, I got the SNS, she did a fantastic job, she's very detailed oriented; she was very confident in her technique and indicated that she was sure I would return; she is very articulate, which I can appreciate. If my SNS last 2 1/2 - 3 weeks I will definitely return to Tina. The shop has aesthetics; my wait time was less than 15 mins. My former nail salon is located in Adams Morgan, which is a hike coming from NE DC, and the parking is not good at all. I've been twice now, and that's enough for me. My first gel mani/pedi was good quality, but my technician painted my nails the incorrect color. Partially my fault for being on my phone and not noticing, but I kind of expected I would get the color I pointed out/asked for, so that was a bit of a surprise. My gel mani did last right around 2 weeks though. I went back for a second try and once again, wrong color. TOTALLY wrong color, but decided to just go with it. Pedicure: after asking for my nails to be cut down, technician told me they were pretty short and he didn't need to cut them. After walking out of the salon, noticed my toenails were WAY too long, so I'm not sure what he was looking at. Gel Manicure: After being pushed and pushed and pushed into getting powder dip nails, and saying no, I like the gel, thank you, I received the worst gel mani I've ever gotten. Technician skipped several steps along the way, left with a very thin looking gel that didn't even last me a week before chipping and wearing away. So now my nails are ruined and I can't go back for any services til they grow back in. Will definitely not be returning. read more

Went for pedicures with a friend since I got a gift card for the holidays, I called ahead for an appointment and they still were a bit surprised when we arrived. Front desk definitely has weaknesses. Then when it came to the actual service it felt a bit rushed. After that we waited nearly 10 minutes to pay which is another inconvenience due. I think that given their price point this was mainly off putting since there is competition all over Capitol Hill where they actually act appreciative of your patronage. Thought some of the growing pains of a new salon might have been overcome by now, but still seems to have some work. Would probably not return. read more

Great service, pretty reasonable dc prices. But they either need to sweep more often or get purse hooks because the floor is disgusting. Nail fragments everywhere (in a multitude of colors) are all over the floor making it very uncomfortable to leave your purse on the floor, or even go wash your hand when in flimsy sandals. They definitely need to rethink the times when they sweep, especially when I came in an hour after opening and the floor was already gross. read more

Excellent shellac mani and pedi by Vinnie. Place was beautiful & clean. Live music was being set up as we were leaving. Very friendly staff. The manicure was the best I've had. Lasted 4 weeks. I've been to Cosmopolitan Nail Lounge twice, and I will NOT go back. The first time I went, I was questioned by multiple techs as to why I only wanted polish and not gel or SNS. Asking me once is fine, but I had at least three different ask me and it got very uncomfortable. That was in December so I decided to give the salon another shot. I went in to get an SNS manicure and it was HORRIBLE! To start, the tech gave me a hard time about the SNS I had on and told me it looked terrible. He then proceeded to let my fingers "soak" in a bowl of acetone for 10 minutes. Normally a cotton ball soak in acetone is applied to the nail and wrapped in tin foil. I asked and he said this was much faster. Honestly it is extremely uncomfortable and dries out your skin! He then grabbed a color that wasn't the one I asked for and started applying the SNS. He was extremely nice but didn't seem trained at all. My nails look TERRIBLE. He did one coat of SNS that only covered half of my nail and did one coat that fully covered my nail. I can understand the half coat so that the SNS doesn't get too thick but since he only did one additional coat, you can clearly see a difference in the two coats. I do feel bad because the tech was very nice and offered to redo two of my nails, but this wasn't because I ask him too. They were CLEARLY messed up. I will honestly never go back. read more

I have visited this place in the past and the service was good. They are a bit high priced but I don't mind if I feel the service is worth it. I returned today after getting a manicure the day before due to it messing up because it didn't dry properly. So I called and scheduled an appointment because I wanted a pedicure also. When I arrived they looked at my nails and asked me to pick out a color. The lady (Nina) called me back for my pedicure and when I put my feet in, the water was boiling hot!! I quickly took my feet out and let her know. She never did apologize but just smirked. Usually when you come here they offer you something to drink and she never did ask me if I wanted anything. She rushed through my pedicure, didn't even let my feet soak for one minute and she had an attitude. I really don't appreciate that kind of customer service and her attitude led me to believe that she made the water hot on purpose. I was coming here because it's my birthday and I just wanted to relax but she ruined the whole experience for me. I made sure to get her name because other techs in the salon are usually nice and very polite. I'm not sure what her problem was but that really turned me off, I live very close by so I planned to come here regularly but I'm not sure if it's worth it now. If I do ever go back out of convenience I will make sure never to let her do any services for me. read more

I went here on a recommendation for an SNS mani and pedi. I made an appointment over the phone for a Friday night at 7. The receptionist was friendly and seemed excited to book my appointment. I arrived on time but the same receptionist seemed confused and frazzled. She repeatedly asked what I was getting done. The pedicure was nice and the color selection was good. There was also a nice array of colors for SNS. My nails are in rough shape and I constantly pick at my cuticles and she did a great job with the cuticle work!! This is my second time doing SNS and my only disappointment was a few nails felt slightly gritty like as if they weren't buffed completely toward the end of the process. My appointment lasted so long that my tech was the last one to leave. A few other techs stood around pleasantly and I never felt rushed.
