My experience at Cosmos was heavenly indeed! I'd just been "dissed" by a bad sales rep at MSI Dulles after a long drive and selection process, only to find out that all but one slab of the stone displayed was already sold to other customers. She should have told me that at the beginning, not 25 minutes into the process! I drove to the next store on my list, hoping I could get there before closing and make up for lost time. That next store, Cosmos Granite and Marble, proved to be delightful! Not as fancy, but with an even better selection of designer stone, and an extremely friendly salesman, whose knowledge is unsurpassed. I reserved 5 slabs of material from Cosmos and made plans to return for an amazing slab of exotic stone so crystalline that it can be backlit. MSI showed me that they do not care about treating prospective customers well. Don't waste your time at MSI! Learn from my pain! Go straight to Cosmos for great service and selection! read more

Be very careful doing business with them. Mike was recommended to us by our contractor. We went out, asked questions, explained that our kitchen is small, gave him a copy of the architect's drawing of the kitchen. He knew we only needed a small amount. We selected 4 slabs and asked for a quote on each one. It took a month to get the quote but they came back between $2200.00-$2400.00 on our choices. We chose the one that cost $2400.00. Mike came to our house this week to measure. He then tried to get our contractor to sign off on the slab cost of $5000.00!! His excuse was that because it was a small job and he had to buy the whole slab that we therefore would have to pay the cost of the whole slab even though our job would take half a slab at most. He of course would keep the remaining granite and sell it to another customer some time in the future. We feel we were the victim of a bait and switch. We were informed of none of this beforehand. Fortunately our contractor refused to sign off on this before he talked to us. Beware! read more

I'm in the lobby waiting now more than an hour to view a slab 4 behind the front piece for my home kitchen. Initially 5 minutes I was told. They seemed to ya e forgotten what they were doing. I'm not surprised to hear calls coming in with people complaining about samples not being sent, tasks not being done and employees here apologizing. read more

At first I thought about giving 4 stars because customer service was pretty good and granite options were great. Then glad I waited for few days because the granite we chose and put on hold for our contractor to pick up suddenly "got sold to a distributor" after we had put in the order and got our paperwork saying it'll be on hold for 7 days. But our contractor went 3 days after we picked out the granite. They weren't apologetic about it and seemed like buying one slab wasn't good enough so they sold it to the "people that buys from them more often and bigger quantity." It put us on set back a lot!!! Nothing went as scheduled/planned. We had hard time trying to pick out granite again thanks to Cosmos. I hope I never have to deal with them ever again. Extremely unprofessional!!! read more

My husband and I visited three different stone providers in Chantilly, VA on a Friday where I played hooky from work. This was the first place we visited, and it was a very, very pleasant experience. We did end up choosing our slabs from Cosmos. We were greeted by two nice people...and then a third, but I'm not sure if they were just nice customers or actually worked there. We had not done this before, so we had about 22 questions. The two nice people basically answered in what appeared to be a totally rehearsed tag-team effort. I'm positive they practiced for this...though I'm not sure how, because I ask some pretty off the wall questions. Another woman mystically appeared before us (ok, fine, she came through a door, but it was special), and graciously walked us into the warehouse. First, I'm totally going to try to steak that gorgeous onyx(?) fireplace in the lobby. The lobby itself was nothing shabby, but I loved that fireplace. If you happen to see a blonde struggling to walk down Stonecroft with an onyx fireplace strapped to her back...you saw nothing! Carry on...ignore me. So this magical woman pointed out each of the areas of stone (not a massive place, but well organized rows with excellent lighting so we could see the stones), then she did not abandon us. She asked what sort of thing interested us...colors, materials, finishes. She then walked us through the entire place, stone by stone. She had several that she was excited to show us. And I mean excited. And she was right...we loved most of them. There was a rainbow onyx that I still think about, weeks later. It would not suit my current house....but I am absolutely contemplating buying a whole new house just so I can use that onyx. After we walked meticulously down every row, we went through our list and revisited a few key slabs. There was one I very much wanted, but we thought that it was a bit to extreme, so we decided to go to the next place. We did not leave having chosen our stone, but by the end of the day we did come back. And we selected that extreme slab, and decided to pair it with a more subtle second slab for a mixed medium effect. On our way out, though we we undecided, the same group of people who welcomed us bid us farewell (except the person who might have just been a nice customer...never saw him again). I did want to add that Cosmos is very well organized and has clearly marked price "tiers" (you work with a fabricator, so they actually do not deal with pricing, that's up to your stone cutter.) The origin of the stone is marked, and the wonderful woman who escorted us knew all kinds of details about the stones. As a stone geek, I can tell you...she was dead on. read more

Recently I drove from Rockville to Sterling where Cosmos is located. I didn't realize that they closed at 3pm. I arrived at 2:30pm. The doors were locked and we kept knocking on the door and pressing our faces against the windows. Finally someone came and opened the door. Much to our surprise there were at least 6 employees sitting there and no one thought to get up as we were banging on the door? We were ignored as we walked in. Someone handed us a form to fill out and directed us to the warehouse. Any employees that we saw just ignored us. As we were leaving one lady asked if we saw anything we liked. I mumbled that it was tough to figure it out and ran out of time. She made the effort to give us a few samples. We left and went down the street to another place and they were amazing. They were closing but welcomed us and offered more samples. I bought from them. If you want to be treated badly and can stomach it, I guess you can buy from Cosmos. read more

Not a place I would do business with ever again. I had no idea what the process was and got next to no help. Two different people told me two different locations for granite. A third of the products weren't labeled as to what they were. Meanwhile I found granite scattered throughout, mixed in with quart, marble, soapstone, onyx. . .saw something I liked but didn't write down the location. Asked for help. Fast, quick, honest and even happy service. They're located just beside the "other" granite showroom but I couldn't find what I wanted there, so on an impulse, I swung by here. Diego knew his inventory inside and out. He accompanied me to where the slabs were, which of course was at the other end of the warehouse. His advice was on the 'spot' and he wrote up my lot for hold in just a few minutes. Not sure why my fabricators send me to the other warehouse, but Cosmos is now my go-to place for granite and even Quartz (which their competitor across the road) doesn't carry. Apparently this company is a wholesaler and distributes to local granite retailers throughout Northern Virginia. They have a giant building and a big sign on the outside letting people know that "granite" is their business. My husband and I just purchased a home and we are going to have about $13,000+ worth of granite added into our kitchen and bathrooms during construction. We walked into Cosmos Granite and the woman working behind the counter didn't look up at us. We were the only ones in the building. The men sitting to her right just sat there and looked at us. After an awkward 15 seconds I approached the women's desk/counter and she looked up at me with a face full of piercings and just stared at me! I finally told her we wanted some prices and as rude as she could she said "I can't give you prices"... then looked back down. She offered no explanation. I turned around and left. The manager chased us outside and apologized for the disgusting women and explained they are a wholesaler. I will NOT buy from a retailer that uses this company! read more

I must say, we felt the same way as previous reviewer, we walked in and you are made to feel like you are bothering them, interrupting an otherwise perfect, lazy day collecting a paycheck. We were sent by our builder to look at one piece of granite proposed for granite counter and the staff can hardly be bothered. Obviously, they have too much business? I visited Cosmos last week at the suggestion of my kitchen designer. I was greeted warmly and asked to fill out a form. The counter person acknowledged that I needed to work through my designer and was very helpful in explaining the layout of the warehouse and general pricing. They even offered free samples of many of the granites I was considering. At the end I had to ask the same counter lady to be my "eyes" since I didn't bring any reading glasses with me. (My bad!) She was extremely nice and very helpful. I'm glad the unpleasant people are no longer there because my experience was very positive. read more

Anyone who has gone through this knows it is a tedious process with lots of players - it is the nature of the beast. The Cosmo staff was professional, knowledgeable and very patient. My husband and I recently visited this warehouse showroom for kitchen counter top ideas that would compliment the slate flooring in our home. To say the least, I was impressed by the professional, friendly staff. I was greeted immediately by the girl who was juggling other customers and phone calls at the same time. I could tell that they were busy and thought that I should come back at a later date, however, the staff acknowledged my presence, apologized for the wait and let me know that they would be with me in a few moments. Let me tell you..... it was worth the wait. I was shown so many options that I hadn't even thought of!!! The girl that showed me the warehouse was polite, knowledgeable and as excited as I was at the different options that we had to compliment my flooring.
