PLEASE stay away. Went in yesterday - Aaron cut my hair which was shoulder length. I told him numerous times to make sure I could get a large roller when he was finished cutting. Well, long story short, my hair is in the middle of my ear! Helen, the manager, kept apologizing for his error and told me I did not have to pay....BIG DEAL....I no longer had my hair. HACK JOB. It's my fault, I had a pretty busy week so I put off getting a haircut until the last minute and went in on a Friday afternoon asking for my dead ends to be cut and my hair to be shaped back to what it was. Literally nothing special or different. Well she sprayed my hair down with a water bottle not even washing it and I should have known then. She hacked off so many layers, it was so choppy and horrible. I had my ends rounded and she cut one HALF so sharp it was like a V. My hair wasn't even the same length on each side! I don't have super thick hair but when I left I definitely felt it so thin which again I didn't ask her to cut much length off or layers so why if I put it in a high pony was it so much thinner? She kept checking with me with each decision and like don't you know how to do your job? She seemed very unconfident in her ability and well it definitely showed. I was in shock and just paid and left immediately calling better salons around and the following morning I had to get 2 more inches cut off and styled back to something not embarrassing. How she let me walk out that door with a smile on her face is beyond me. Also their "Ricky Bobby" skit is pretty terrible. I wish I had enough money so I could put a fake name in the system to look booked and not actually work. Silver lining is I went to a different REAL stylist the following day and my hair is mid length now but much nicer. The stylist told me that for front face angle bang pieces you don't cut behind the ears and the girl at Cost cutters definitely did. read more

Absolutely the worst haircut EVER! I didn't want to pay the $50. I usually pay for a cut so I checked this place out (with coupon I just received in mail), that should have been a clue! I needed a haircut very badly. I let my hair get so gross and the thoughts of shaving my head just wasn't some thing I wanted to do myself. I decided to go to Cost Cutters to see what what could be for me. I met a phenomenal hairdresser by the name of Gina. She hooked me up in the best way possible. She made my head/hair look amazing. She trimmed up my beard and mustache, making it all look gorgeous. She was very friendly and very knowledgeable in what she was doing. She talked me through the entire process so there were no surprises. I took my daughter in for a cut and blow dry style. I was very unimpressed. No books or magazines anywhere that had hair style options to look through. The woman who signed up in was smacking her gum quite loudly while trying to take my info. They put us with a stylist who had been playing on her phone in the chair for the last 10 minuets. When my daughter told her what she wanted done I was then told by the stylist that we would have to wait for another stylist because she can blow dry her hair. And she can't cut it without blowing it dry to make sure she got the cut straight. Seriously? What stylist can't blow dry hair?!! Needless to say we left and found a cleaner more friendly and professional place for a haircut. read more

What can I say about Cost Cutters? I can't say its great but I can't say it sucks either. I've been there several times when I needed a hair cut in a pinch and all I can say is you are rolling the dice with your head or is it some heads are gonna roll? I've had some really good hair cuts here. I've also had some where it looked like I cut my own head after 6 beers and two shots..ok maybe 3 shots. If you find someone there that cuts your hair well get their name and when they work otherwise you may come out looking like Nick Nolte's DUI mugshot. There are some good stylists but the problem is i have not always gotten one. Next time I find a good one i'll take my own advice and go when they are there. read more

I've been going to this Cost Cutters on and off again for years now. You can't beat $16 haircuts everyday and $12 haircuts every Tuesday. While some aren't the best, the hairdressers are experienced and professional for the most part, and they give you the haircut you ask for. If you don't like it, your hair will grow back again, and you can't feel too bad because you didn't pay too much for it. About a year and a half ago, on a hot summer day, I decided to cut all my hair off on a whim, and I headed to Cost Cutters to do it. To my surprise and delight, it was a $12 Tuesday, and the hairdresser I got knew exactly what to do with my hair. It was probably the best haircut of my life, and I got out of there for less than $20 including tip. (Spoiler alert: That hairdresser was Cecily, and she no longer works there, but she was fantastic and I don't know if I'll ever find a hairdresser as good as her ever again.) For the last year or so, I was going to this Cost Cutters regularly because I finally found a hairdresser I loved and kept wanting to go back to. I recently found out that she is no longer working at this Cost Cutters, and I realized it was time to write a review. While she will be missed, and I will be on the search for a new steady hairdresser, I will always think of Cost Cutters as a good place to get a haircut. read more

Do not see Mary at this location. I brought my daughter in for a haircut and I overheard her talking pretty rude to my kid. I contemplated stepping in but my kid is a bit older and I didn't want to embarrass her. I went and sat up front and when my daughter was done, her haircut was just awful. I asked her if it was what she wanted and she said yes let's just leave. I paid and when we got outside my daughter just started crying. Mary belittled her and bullied her. I went back and spoke to Kathy the manager and she was very nice and refunded me immediately. And offered to have a different stylist fix the cut. read more

I have been getting my hair cut here scince i was six years old and ever scence then i have been i regular customer and friend they treat me like a member of the family here at cost cutters and most of the time i am thrilled with the hair cuts although each stylist has their own unique way of cutting hair and 80% of the time the hair cuts are quality when going to this establishment ask for Jacklin or Helen "The best stylists" because besides them most of the other other employees are some what inexperienced , Over all i love the staff and quality of the haircuts they also are wonderfull at dying hair and sytling hair read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. I wanted a basic cut. I walked out with uneven hair three inches shorter than I wanted. Avoid. Also- the woman cutting my hair was shouting to speak to her coworkers the whole time, right in my ear. When she asked if I liked it, I said it was uneven and not what I wanted. She was not phased by that in the least. Not to mention some coworkers were swearing, and there were young children in there. Not very professional. I understand it is a cheap place, but maintaining my shape and taking off two inches (not FIVE) should have been well within their capability. read more

for someone who gets their hair blown out on the regular, this was literally the WORST place I've ever been to!!! also false advertising because it was the MOST I've ever paid for a wash and blow out ($50 as opposed to the usual 30-40 I pay at every other salon in Meriden) - a horrible blow out at that. the hair dresser was super nice but had NO idea how to work with my hair and I ended up w a frizzy semi-fro that I had to go home and touch up myself. horrible horrible horrible. will never go back. this place shouldn't even exist. read more

This place was horrible! I went spur of the moment thing just for a wash and nice blow dry... and MARY couldn't even do a good blow dry!!!!!!! She didn't know how and she was so rough I have so much breakage from her!!! She was rude and every time a customer would leave she would bad mouth them!
