This is yet another place that gets by on its great location in the heart of downtown Markham. Not much else to offer really. ATMOSPHERE: This place was packed! The decor is nice, and the views of the kitchen can be enjoyable for some. The furniture is comfortable as well. The way they try to jam as many people into this place as possible though may not be desirable for many, including families, and those with children. I was sitting pretty much side-by-side with somebody from the other table. FOOD: The food here was mediocre at best. We ordered the Fried Calamari/Shrimp app, which was neither calamari or shrimp as is most often expected. Instead, it was more like a blended squid/shrimp finger on a stick. It was also much smaller than expected. The Shrimp Linguine in rose sauce was just not good. Perhaps this is too harsh, but there was nothing about it that made me feel I was eating restaurant quality pasta, let alone one that costed as much as it did. It came out cold, the shrimps seemed like they were of the frozen variety, and the rose sauce was both lacking, and tasteless. I ended up switching dishes with another person in our group. Had a lunch event with a bunch of co-workers yesterday. There were approximately 30 of us in total, so it was a rather large group. The Good: - very friendly staff - good atmosphere - nice variety of food choices The Bad: - I had ordered the daily special pasta, which was a shrimp ravioli. The flavor was good, however it was really salty - forgetful staff. Had to remind them several times to bring around pepper and cheese The Ugly: - I arrived about 10 minutes later than everyone at my table, and they had all ordered already. I placed my order and the my food came out 5 minutes later. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but everyone else at the table have not received their food yet. I waited another 15 min, but still nothing for the others. So I proceeded to eat my food slowly.... By the time I finished my food, some of my co-workers got their appetizers. I basically spent the next 45 min watching my co-workers eat their lunch. - The daily special pasta was $28. Again, normally not a problem, but the plate had 6 raviolis, and 2 shrimps that haven't hit puberty yet. As you can imagine, I was still starving after eating it AND I had to watch my co-workers eat their food. If a restaurant is going to charge high prices, I would at least expect to be full. Overall, it seems like there are a bunch of kinks that need to be worked out, and I highly suggest the owners to review their pricing structure. As of right now, you won't be getting good value out of what you have to pay. I don't even remember how we heard about this place but we heard good things. We walked in and they were just opening from lunch so we were the only ones there. The setting was beautiful and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. We had ordered the pastas but I'm not sure if it was just me but there was an odd taste to it. It kind of taste stale and had this cardboard smell to it. I can't really explain it but it looked good just the taste was awful in my opinion. Restaurant has potential but wait time for food needs serious attention. Went during the soft opening. It was relatively early on a Friday night. We were the first table. Another table sat down shortly. The wait staff greeted us warmly. Owners were friendly, both stopped to say hi. The guy even promoted their upcoming weekend event to us. Upon taking our order, our waitress did not brief us on the chef's specials. We ended up hearing it from a waiter speaking to a neighbouring table. The Friday special was $1.50/oyster which they did not have yet. The appetizers came around 15 minutes after order but the wait for the main course was frustrating. It took a good 30 mins after the appetizer. It also came to our attention that the neighbouring table who ordered after us got their food waaaaay before us. (The owners were very friendly with them. Maybe friends or family but they got good service.) We probably spent more time waiting than actually eating. Their pasta was probably the peak of the unddinner. The pappardelle was delicious. Fresh ingredients and pasta was al dente. Authentic Italian flavour. Pizza is average, had better ones at lower prices in nicer restaurants. For appetizers, we ordered the shrimp calamari lollipop and the 3 piece mix of rice ball, potato, and pasta cake. We were a little thrown off by $8 for two tiny sticks with 1 shrimp each. Presentation was nice though. They got the pasta down and I really wished I could give it a better rating. However, the price, wait, and service was not worth the food. Solid 3.5. A group of six for lunch today, we had good service and did not feel rushed. Clean and cozy. The food was tasty. We shared some meatballs and pizza rolls. They were good about switching out a cream sauce for tomato and vice versa for the pastas. The gnocchi were plump little pillows of goodness. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Great food and a comfortable dining experience makes this the place to go when you're in the area and feel like having Italian. The calamari and prawn tempura lollipops were actually very good, with the perfect level of crunchy texture, unlike many other higher end non-Asian eateries offering their take on tempura and just fry it until its a stale Sun Chip. Other notable mentions are their pizzas, which I actually liked better than some of the more well-established Italian restaurants downtown, and their steak frites served on cutting board. The fries were quite salty but full of flavour that left me wanting more. read more

Very disappointing customer service. Once we were seated, our waiter seemed to be quite rushed to get our drink orders. He was not particularly friendly and never told us about the dinner specials. We only found out at the end of the meal that there was a separate menu with specials. I over heard one of the wait staff saying to our waiter, "is anyone almost done?", suggesting that there were people waiting for a table. A different waiter asked us if she could clear the plates from our appetizers. I pointed out to her that there were a few of the mussels that had not opened, suggesting that they were under-cooked and could not be eaten. Instead of saying, "thank you for letting me know, I'll let the chef know", she quickly grabbed my plate and spilled all the tomato sauce that was on it onto my lap. My light-coloured pants and shirt was covered with the sauce. She never apologized and I had to suggest that she get me an additional napkin because I was using my napkin to clean up the mess on my clothes. She asked me which of the two women present was my wife because she wanted to give her cleaning instructions (very sexist). Later she brought a container of Lysol wipes and suggested that I use that to clean my clothes. I declined and continued to use the water that was at the table. Next she brought some hand sanitizer and suggested I clean it with that. I didn't think that either ammonia or alcohol were typical cleaning products for clothes. Our waiter later came by and asked if I was okay. I said that I was okay but my clothes weren't. He also did not apologize or suggest any remedy. After we finished our meal, he asked us if we wanted any dessert. I said I would look at the dessert menu however we decided not to stay any longer given the disappointing service. My friend asked to see the manager, and the waiter said he was a manager. My friend told the waiter/manager that he really should have been more responsive to what happened. The waiter said that he had offered us complementary dessert! Actually he only asked us what we wanted for dessert and never suggested that anything was complimentary. I never expect anything given to me for free but I also do not expect to go out for a nice meal, have my dinner spilled on me and have the wait staff pretty much pretend that nothing happened. read more

I think I was very clear and I don't appreciate being told that just because I'm not a doctor, it means my food poisoning wasn't valid after my experience there. A horrible experience. The papadelle noodles were stuck together and then I found an eyelash in the dish. Three bites and I returned it. They offered to take the dish off the bill (I didn't touch it) but didn't offer anything else to compensate. My sons fettuccine was also off. Although when I go for dinner at 630 I don't like sitting beside a manager/owner sitting at a table with all his papers on the table and doing his work... talk about ruining the already lacking atmosphere. So what to say about this place that already hasn't been said. Nice little Italian eatery in the Enterprise entertainment complex. Chic styling decor and nice open concept. Went there for a quick bite before an appointment a 5:30pm Seated at the bar and ordered a Martini. Gin extract dry. The Bartender was nice and knew how to make the drink properly. I ordered the mussels which came with biscotti. It was good though I would have preferred the sauce to be a little less watery. The mussel was cooked nicely though. I didn't have time to have dinner but I will come back when I get the chance or I'm in the area. One thing g that did bother me a bit was I was sitting at the end of the bar bear the dining room and I guess that was where the waiters and busses gathered because they were hanging chatting about their weekend plans and some of the language was a little colorful. I give the authentic Neapolitan pizza close to 5 stars and that is really it. We were a larger group (10 people) and tried a variety of things that was on the menu, a everyone agreed that despite the pasta (minus the penne) was home-made the showcase was the delicious pizza. The pasta portions were ridiculously small, my 8 year old had kids portion which was considered a half order, but it was literally 20 pieces of penne - THATS IT! And for $12 I would've expected more. This is NOT a kid friendly restaurant, they almost discourage kids in there, so don't go here if you are bringing children - you will regret it!! One of the kids just wanted some fries and we asked if they had just that, the lady said yes, that they had the Truffle fries but she could just make us fries without the truffles and aioli. She forgot to mention that they would still charge the full price of $10. This is officially the most expensive French fries we have ever bought - but thankfully we asked before ordering more for the rest of the kids as they were still hungry due to the fact they only ate 20 pieces of penne. The first I noticed when I first entered was that they used fragrance similar like those fancy hotels at the entrance that smelled very clean, sophisticated and upscale. That got my hopes up. The décor in the restaurant was modern and beautiful to every detail. My bf and I got mussels as the appetizer, bolognese pasta and a pizza called calzone. The mussels were served overcooked with two small sad pieces of toast. The flavors were mediocre as at best. Ironically all the ingredients used here are actually quite good which leads me thinking it's the chef's cooking skills that is lacking. The pasta is supposed to be fresh and homemade. Yes, it is fresh but felt machine made. The pizza was another problematic dish with wet dough. Just a mess, see the picture... Please get a better chef who can qc and actually cook better... Came in on a Saturday evening at 8pm for a table for 4. Got our menus and our drinks fairly quick. The server (older gentleman) took a long time to come check to see if we were ready to order and seemed as if he wasn't interested in serving us. We were trying to pronounce the dishes but was cut off when he said the English version of it (I'm not Italian but he still should have made an effort to teach us how to pronounce the dish). He also sounded very bored when he did talk to us. Waited over 40 mins to get our food. Everyone else in the restaurant was either finished eating or had already gotten their food. We had to ask another server (younger lady) to check on our food and she notices that it's ready. Three out of the four dishes that we ordered came out luke warm because the server was too busy chatting with the other customers. The server (older gentleman) never came to check up to see how the food was tasting. Not sure if we were treated this way because weren't Italian or if it was because we were young.The only reason I feel this way was because of how enthusiastic and charismatic he was towards the other tables compared to us. Tasted blend like plain tomato sauce and nothing else. Veal Scaloppina - $28 for a beef jerky, 8 tiny cubes of potato and a handful of frozen vege. Tiramisu - very disappointed. How can you mess up a tiramisu in an Italian restaurant. It was blend. The lady finger in between was not soaked in coffee and it was sooooo hard to cut through. Mini tasting gelato - the only decent food in this place. Overall. Feeling unwelcome by the owner and you could see how he only serve "certain type of ppl" . Food was very very very disappointed. Wait time for food was slow and especially for dessert?! All I see is a restaurant that's tying to rip you off. Awful service, awful food. Very overpriced for small portions and the fact that the food was really bland. I asked the waiter to bring in two gelatos with sparklers on top as we were celebrating two birthdays. She came into the room 15 minutes later while one of the birthday girls were in the washroom. She didn't even have the common sense to check before coming in. Very rude waiter as she tried to correct us every time we tried to pronounce the name of an item on the menu. We were also served warm water? and waiter wasn't enthusiastic when we asked for ice (heaven forbid LOL). We were taken to this private room for dinner because the rest of the dining hall was full, which I was excited about at first until all of us kept getting bitten by mosquitos indoors. On April 12 at 1155 am, my friend got there before me, he stood there waiting for a long time before the waiter came and said "are you Uber?" WOW! NO greeting just ARE YOU UBER??? Even Uber Eats services are human beings.... a "hi how are you" could have been said. My friend didn't tell me this until we left, otherwise I would have insisted on leaving right then and there. Pasta was nothing special. Had had the seafood pasta with super tiny seafood and a watered down chicken fettuccine, lacking flavour. Went for a coworker's birthday lunch. The only good thing I can say about this place is the decor. Why it was disappointing: -unfriendly greetings when we first entered the restaurant -took 1 hour before the food was served -was surprised that no bread was offered considering it was an Italian restaurant -ordered the pappardelle ($21); it was under-cooked; portions were small and there was barely any meat sauce (this opinion was voiced by 3 others who ordered the same dish). I had to go next door to South St. Burger to get a hamburger to satisfy my hunger -after serving our food, no wait staff came by to check in on our table until we asked for the bill -our plates were not cleared off the table until we asked for the bill -we had to pay 18% gratuity which was mandatory for large groups but the gratuity was undeserved considering the poor customer service read more

Tried this place for the first time. Excellent pizza and dough ordered basis marguerita one of the best I ever had! Also ordered mixed seafood grill which was one of their specials which included swordfish,tuna giant shrimp salad and grilled squid. I'm a patron at their other restaurant, Sorrento North, but am happy to have a location closer to my home. Their specialty is the gelato which is homemade and mouth watering! We had a group of 17 (adults n toddlers) a couple weeks ago.. it was nice that they gave us a room so we had our own space.. The eating utensils were nice.. however the wait times for the food need some improvements.. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and mains to share... appetizers came approximately 20 minutes after we ordered.. however.. the mains came about an hour after the appetizers.. The portions are smaller than we expected.. as each order of buchetta only consisted of two tiny toast with a few tomatoes on top.. the ravioli for the mains only consisted of 5 pieces.. Their pizzas were 10 to 12 inches, they were limited in the toppings, but some of them do taste good.. Half way through the mains.. we asked our waitress if we are to add a few orders for pizzas what will the wait time be.. she told us about 10 mins.. however those add on came after 45 mins.. near the end when we were about the leave... the music in the room were cranked up .. it was so much louder than the main eating area, which we found was so rude and not kids friendly .. The restaurant itself is beautiful- very chic looking. We were told by one of the employees that the kitchen was running behind so there may be a delay with the food which was quite the opposite- it definitely came out in a reasonable time. The only complaint I had is that I paid $6 for bread that was completely burnt. The main course (gnocchi) was delicious. Service was good too- the bartender was the best. Please think twice before going. This is the worst food I have ever tasted. The place looks great inside very fancy. But the food is poor quality and very very expensive. There were 3 of us, I had pizza and all I can taste was the burnt crust. The 28 dollar seafood pasta had 2 shrimp 4 mussels and 4 baby clams with thick raw pasta. Not worth 28 dollars. The 22 dollar salad had just oil and vinaigrette dressing,paid 7 dollars to add 3 oz of chicken. I really don't know how people can like this place read more

Before you read further, all you need to know is they charge a risotto that serves 2 for $65 (price may change depending on which day you go cuz they have a daily special menu?) Came in on a Monday night and the restaurant wasn't busy, took them a good few minutes to come and greet us because none of them noticed us waiting (which I don't understand why because the place was empty?) Ordered a bunch of food to share, the tempura carlimari was legit just two piece of carlimari wrap shrimp on a stick for $10+ The daily risotto we ordered was mushroom and sausage in white sauce and it was below average. The rice was not hard and some were even hard. $65 for a risotto that was super salty and the rice was not even cooked properly (a lot harder than any other risotto I have had) when we asked our waiter if this was a typo, this was her answer "yeah, its a bigger portion". All of the other pasta on the menu was around $20, this was only double the portion so how does this justify you charging us triple the price? Are we coming back? Maybe for the pizza but then again, I can get something similar for a much lower price. read more

Last night June 7 2019 I went to the restaurant for dinner with my wife and friends. We ordered the Bolognese pasta that was average quality but a small portion being over priced. The pizza came to the table cold with a soft and under cooked center with a cooking doe taste. The toppings were very minimal. The waiter was very challenging as I left some of my pizza on the plate not wanting to continue. I also found the waiter to be rude as he didn't say I'm sorry there was an issue and continued to argue saying I now nothing about pizza even though I have had my pizza throughout my travels over my years. Its unfortunate to have such a bad experience in an area that I live in and will not return nor can I recommend to my neighbours in the area as to the way I was treated. SERIOUS ISSSUE: LAST THING: as we were sitting for dinner, the manager never came by and said it was safe to stay in the building complex as we had a fire alarm going off for over an hour and we were never advised on the conditions for Standard Health and Safety Protection as Fire Trucks kept arriving in the building complex. Me and my woman wanted to try this place out, we entered the restaurant with no "Hi" or "welcome" of any sorts, but instead a rude aggressive "do you have an reservation?" By a bald "gentleman" who seemed like the owner or manager. We both were seated & made our orders. When the food arrived I was immediately disappointed. The salad that looks like they went to the back of someone's backyard and plucked the weeds and placed it on a plate, not to mention the pastas. Ever went to Walmart or Nofrills and got those quick frozen pastas? Better get those than what they have to offer at Sorrentos since it tastes exactly the same except you'll get more food portions from your quick frozen pasta rather than here. This place should just shut down and let another restaurant take it's place and teach them how a real "fine dining" restaurant works. Definitely not coming back to this trash place. read more

The waitress was nice but didn't offer us a wine list until we asked, she was pleasant but inexperienced. Let's just go straight to our meals, My girlfriend ordered a veal scaloppine with a side of veg. The veal was thinly beaten, dry and cold as a piece of cobblers leather. Now what was really intriguing was the side veg as it was covered in some thick orange sauce that drowned the entire plate and bonded the veg together like some orange syrup! I must also mention this sauce was cold as ice, straight from the refrigerator! Seems the saucier must have been on a smoke break and the kitchen porter took over! Now for my fine dining experience, I had chicken breast stuffed with pork shoulder, sounds very interesting and tasty! No it was reheated pre-made chicken breast, tasteless and chewy like a dogs toy left out on a cold January day. Ohh and of course my meal came with the exact icy orange substance that concealed my veg. (I never did find them I hope they recovered) My girlfriend sent hers back, I tried mine. I was charged for my experiment full pop and credited her meal, that made total sense. We quickly finished our bottle of Decoy, debating whether we really wanted to head to a step up restaurant, (maybe Popeyes Louisiana Chicken)as we were both still hungry. I came with my family to celebrate my wife 's birthday. I took my server's advice to order the pizza of the day, which was a white pizza that I never had before, so I was a bit skeptic. However the white pizza turned out to be so tasty and with strong flavour of truffle!! The PEI oysters were so fresh too and their seafood pasta was cooked to perfection. I've been to Costa Sorrento several times with my husband, nothing but great, quick service. The salad appetizers are delicious. Although the portions are not huge (which shouldn't be in the first place), so far the entrees we have had were quite tasty. No complaints just praise. read more
