I'm still team Costco however I DO NOT like the changes the location in Brandywine has made. Why did you move the self-checkout lanes and make them way smaller. Now there are some huge bottleneck issues and the lines are ridiculous. You guys also didn't have employees readily available to scan my items which made me have to put the huge bulky items on your scale which you also made smaller. Then your employee had the audacity to say, "I was waiting to see if you were going to scan everything". I almost used profanity just now. Clean. Organized. Stocked. I really like this Costco location. The only problem is this lady at the exit(you know when they take the pen and take your receipt). I went to the self-check and did 3 transactions (because I had to charge things on different cards). I didn't have a lot of items and I went through self-checkout quick. I didn't know that having 2+ more transactions also came with a lecture with how "the Costco rules is only 2 transactions" and "how I need to go to the cashier next time". The Brandywine Costco seems to be bustling, all the time. As other Costcos, they offer appliances, auto/tires, items for babies and kids, clothing, handbags, computers/printers, electronics, furniture, hardware, health and beauty products, home/decor items, jewelry/watches, office products, patio/outdoor items, items for pets, and travel/luggage items. One of the things that I noticed here is that there isn't a staff member or a clear path in directing traffic towards the cashiers; the line literally wraps around the whole Costco, and when you happen to walk towards the front, there are gaps and lines going off in tangents through the electronic section and/or carts left that are left behind that causes an obstacle. Yikes! I do have to give it to this Costco for giving generous samples, though - when they had a Pocky promotion, they seemed to give literally a small snack-sized pack as a sample. HA! Plenty of parking, but it is slightly a pain in getting in and out. +inefficient lines for cashiers +larger sample sizes +difficulty getting in and out of parking read more

Seems pretty consistent in terms of shopping needs. Any time I come here, shelves are organized and the store is clean. Personnel are friendly. Honestly, most Costco's I go to are pretty good, and would recommend if you want to buy items in bulk and get "cheap" gasoline. This one is no different. read more

Super pleased with this location. It is located in Brandywine location and easy to locate. The parking lot is big, and despite going on a Saturday morning, it was not crowded, there were no lines to get in and the lines weren't super long. The only line that I encountered was at the gas line. There are sanitizing wipes upon entry, and they have social distancing accommodations in place as well. Super happy that they have everything that my general local Costco doesn't generally have in stock. I think that this may be my go to location. read more

On December 17, 2023, I visited the Brandywine #1039 location like I do very often and wanted to pick up a few items as well as return an item that had a recall. I picked up the items I wanted first and then went to customer service desk, thinking I could return my item and purchase the clothing items I wanted. Nancy at the front desk assisted me. The first question I asked was, would I be able to purchase my items here and she explained politely that I had to go back to the registered to purchase my items. I told her it was no problem. During the transaction, an elderly, slim, caucasian woman, who identified herself as Patricia, walked over from the front door and asked "is this a return? What's going on with these items?", referring to the items I wanted to purchase. I told her it's not a return. At this time, there were three ladies all standing close by and Nancy explained I was going to purchase the items. Patricia then stated, "Because he walked past the registers." I felt extremely discriminated against and embarrassed in front of everyone. I frequent this location often and never experienced anything like this until Patricia tried to insinuate and accuse me of attempted theft. I never tried to exit the store and I was standing at the customer service desk being assisted. It was no need or reason for this lady up embarrass me in this manner. This is not the type of employee that should be associated with Costco #1039. Instead of trying to embarrass me in front of everyone, she could have quietly asked the other associates what was going on with the items. Furthermore, I have to give the employees my Costco card in order to get a return. If I was going to steal anything after giving employees my Costco card, that would be extremely ignorant on my behalf. Another associate did attempt to assist me and stated she would walk me to the register and ring up my items, but in my frustration, I decided not to purchase the items. I would hope that Store Manager Shadi would address to matter as soon as possible to not allow another customer to experience harassment and embarrassment as I did. read more

What angers me is hearing on the news that they made $5 Billion in membership fees and now are going to implement more ways to make sure you didn't sneak in and aren't using someone else's membership, and no more $1 hot dog if you aren't a member. This Costco has an excellent variety of high end/name brand products. The store is clean and the employees are friendly and helpful. I always look forward to shopping here and can't wait to see what's new:) The only negative is the gas pumps. They usually have really long lines and it can take 15-20 minutes just to get gas. I like to shop at COSTCO for my household staples (i.e. paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, laundry detergent, bottled water, coconut water, black peppercorns, healthy snacks, etc.) and gas. I used to think such stores were reserved for businesses and huge families, not so! I have the executive gold star membership which allows you to earn a 2% reward on "qualifying purchases". This program does not include gas but you receive a check (every year) that can be used to buy more stuff. This location is clean, organized, and stays well stocked. Their produce, fish, and baked goods always look fresh too. I appreciate shopping at this location because it does not get overcrowded like the Pentagon City store and the lines are always reasonable. I'm there so much that I had to sign up for their executive membership ($100/year) and I just got my first rebate check - um, yeah.....I spend way too much money here so my rebate check let me pay for next year's membership and also get some cilantro lime shrimp (they're secretly marinated in crack - you have to get it). Do I go to Costco every weekend to fill up on free food - why yes, yes I do. I am not ashamed that, as a gastric bypass patient, I can get something from every display cart and be full for the majority of the day and the evening. Do I go to Costco because their return policy is ridonkulously good and I always get cash back when I return stuff? Hells yes! Do I go to Costco because I can find crap I had no intention of buying but hey, since I'm there....why the heck not? Yeppers. They have fantastic deals on clothes. Paying $15 for a box of 40 count handwarmers for winter is awesome (you can stick those joints anywhere and be roasty toasty all damn day). The $150 memory foam mattress topper and $100 heated mattress pad for my king sized bed have been two of the best presents my fiance have ever purchased me and have singlehandedly caused me to not kill him because I am no longer cold and in pain from our cold ass house and crappy mattress. In fact, instead of an engagement ring I will accept the mattress pad and mattress topper as his token of betrothal. $1.50 for a foot long hot dog and a drink can't be beat with a stick. $5.99 for a 24 can case of Canada Dry Ginger Ale. $2.89 for a gallon of 2% milk. I got a complete pair of Betsey Johnson eyeglasses for $80. These prices are CRAZY TALK. Their car shopping service is also muy excellente. And yeah, avoid the tire department. Them are some lazy ass mofo's up in that joint. But, they do look good....I'm not going to lie. And oh - don't forget your cheap gas pumps! The only drawbacks are that you either have to pay with AmEx or a debit card. That's kind of a Debbie Downer. Reasons I go to Costco: I pig out like a homeless man eating the free samples of food they provide. Enough that I don't have to buy lunch. But I'll buy lunch anyway from the snack bar because a whole half smoke or italian sausage and soda for a couple of dollars can't be beat, even though I have a case of said half smokes and italian sausage in my cart. I love buying things in bulk. Candy, shrimp, coffee, cups, toilet paper for my culo, eggs, batteries. It's great for stalking up for the nuclear holocaust and for throwing parties for that matter. I'd like to make a special shout-out to the Asian short ribs that they sell in the frozen pre-packaged section. If you haven't tried them, TRY THEM. I also like the whole center section where you can buy name-brand clothes, all laid out like a flea market. Brings back memories of the flea markets in California that I grew up going to. I also love the fact that since they only take American Express, I rack up the skymiles whenever I shop here with my AMEX Skymiles card. Woot! read more

We got a membership here for our family of five. We do the majority of our grocery shopping here and it saves us major $$ a year. We got the $100 membership which gives two percent back on purchases. That alone paid for our membership. On a side note, we bought our Christmas tree from here this past Christmas for under $30 and it was the most gorgeous tree we've ever had. Regardless of the time you visit, they are bound to have multiple samples of their products. Because of this, you may end up with more in your cart than you intended, but at least you have new snacks to eat at home. From my experience, the best time to come here is a weeknight. All across the board Costco's are pretty great and this one is no exception. We come here about once every two weeks for a shopping trip...maybe more or less depending on what holidays or occasions we have going on. The store is always clean and organized and the employees are pretty much all friendly. If you go during peak hours, like the weekends, they give out lots of samples throughout the store. It's always exciting to see what they are sampling and occasionally we do end up buying what we have tried. They have great selection of everything you could think of and a lot of things you didn't even know that you needed...LOL! They always have a great selection of clothes for all ages. They carry a few toy items year round but have quite a bit more to offer when Christmas time rolls around. A lot of food and household items go on sale from time to time. They have a circular that you can pick up in the store and they also send you one in the mail. I know the annual membership fee can turn some people off but they really do have a lot of unique items that you can't find anywhere else. This Costco has some pretty cool and unique items that cannot be found at the one in DC. I actually prefer this location moreso than the others in the DC area, for the cost of the gas. Today's cost was 3.51 for premium! No other location beats this price in the DC area. It's Costco. I love Costco and you know what to expect, but this one seems to be lacking in customer service. The samples folks are so unbearably slow that I ended up skipping them, which means I'm less inclined to buy new products that I might have. If they're preparing trays, they will not give you one until the whole tray is completed but they take FOREVER. My most recent check out experience was pretty nasty as well. I purposely grabbed a box for small items and made sure all items were in the cart with the barcodes on the outside, to make it easier for the cashier. The box was in the cart, the long way. I had barely pulled my cart up to the register (in fact, the cashier was still scanning the people in front of me) when she barked at me to take my stuff out of the box and put it on the belt. I said I was planning on it but was making sure she could scan the big stuff while I did it, to move along faster. She then grabbed the box and dumped it on the belt and slammed it back into the cart the short way, so that not matter how small my hands are there is NO WAY I could get the box out of the cart when I got to my car. I knew if was happening and said nothing, because it just wasn't worth it. She then piled all sorts of stuff in random places and sent me on my way. Note to cashiers - do not shove the boxes int eh cart like a game of Tetras. This is not fun for ANYONE. read more

My husband and I are new to the area and have been coming to this Costco Brandywine location and had signed up for a membership since July 2020. We haven't had any issues with anything grocery-related, except for its customer service specifically on Saturday, April 10th at 5:50 PM. The backstory is, when we had initially signed up, we were eligible for the military membership promotion which is a $30 Shop Card upon joining. Since becoming a member, we've followed up with customer service 2-3 times via telephone and in-person in regards to this promotion matter because we haven't received anything in the mail. We've been told that it will come in the mail, that we'll have to wait a month or so for the promotion to take into effect and it will come, etc. We've even received a voicemail from customer service at one point also. We were also told to follow up with customer service if we haven't received anything by mail in x amount of days. And that's what we did. We've been waiting since July 2020 and we still haven't received the $30 shop card. I understand $30 may or may not be much for somebody but this is the principle of the matter and this was the last straw because we were tired of waiting and wanted to follow up and see what was going on with that. My problem is not only with that, but with the woman that we spoke with. Thanks to her, I am writing this review. Unfortunately, I did not catch her name because I would have definitely put her out there but if I may describe her: African American woman, mid to late 40s-50s, about 5'3, wears glasses, has short hair - practically bald. So let me be clear and emphasize the word DISRESPECT. We have never been disrespected like that before, from her body language to that nasty tone of voice, her side comments, and her FACE in general. She is a disgrace to the customer service team and should be removed immediately because she clearly does not know how to "service" customers. I understand the store is closing soon and people want to get home and leave for the day, but at least make the last customer worth your time, or else you'll be facing a bad review like this one. Upon making our way to the exit from grocery shopping, we decided to stop by customer service to follow up with our military promotion shop card. This lady approached us as we were standing in line and asked what we needed. And although she was NOT the nice person we spoke with previously in regards to this matter (who was in fact so much friendlier and helpful and took her time checking our account), we just HAD to have this RUDE lady, unfortunately. We explained our situation and she had the audacity to interrupt and cut us off acting like she knew what she was talking about in some "righteous" manner and in a rude, disregarding tone of voice. She kept trying to rush us and telling us that they were closing soon as if that was her only concern. I can tell she just didn't want to help us or even TRY. We mentioned the voicemail we received as well and as we were looking for it, she just stood in front of us with crossed arms, awkwardly yet discourteous, making us feel extremely pressured. She could have pranced her negative body language to her computer and done something helpful and look up our account and notes while we looked for it but she didn't and failed to do so. Pretty much she didn't do shit to help us. She made us feel like we were "shit out of luck" and did not try to find any way to resolve this matter or help find a solution for us. We, the customers, were the ones that requested for her to look up our information via our membership ID and she just had a terrible attitude the whole time as if we were wasting HER time. In addition, there were still other customers being serviced, and there was a customer behind us. This rude woman kept saying out loud how they are closing soon, and that there is nothing she can do. At one point she laughed and said, "we've been closing at 6:00 PM every Saturday for over x number of years". I thought that was extremely unnecessary and passive-aggressive/sarcastic of her. Anyways she was just really rude, rushy, impatient, and had a nasty attitude towards us for no reason. I've never seen my husband, a military service member, get frustrated with somebody in customer service who disrespects the customer like that. If I were the store's manager, I'd fire her and find a replacement. Oh, and I still want my $30 shop card. read more

We love our Brandywine Costco! The store is always clean and there are less people traffic. We love the DC (for the liquor and wine selections),Lanham, and Pentagon Costcos but it does get too busy at times. It's also great that it's a 10 minute drove from our house which makes for convenient trips on the weekend. Keep it up you guys! read more

Love it here, come here to shop all the time and the bathrooms are clean. U can tell that the workers like working there, except when u go to the back to get water. They have people back there and none of them help and they see u getting water. They will walk pass and don't even ask, if u need help. Costco really has to do better with that. This is probably one of my favorite Costco to go to - and that's only because this location doesn't get SO crowded that I want to rip my head off. Just certain holidays, it may get busy. But nothing like the other locations I've been to. It's pretty organized, easy to navigate and clean here. The staff are great and efficient. I can't say the other customers are nice, but hey - you just lift, elbow and walk through. I don't know how many times I have to say excuse me, before I just lift, elbow and walk through. I don't think that this location, has as much stuff as some of the other locations but it usually has just what I need - and that's plenty for me. Parking is generous and I've never had to wait in line too long. P.S. I have an obsession with Costco pizza and Italian sausage at the food counter. It;'s so cheap! :) read more

I love Costco, period! I can always find great deals on bulk items. I can sample foods that I may want to purchase or have never tried before. The customer service at this particular location is always fantastic! While the way the store is organized can be a tad bit confusing, it never deters me from coming in. The weekends can be a little chaotic, because they usually have the sample tables out in full force. It's a good thing because you can fill up on samples and possibly save on lunch lol or you have folks filing the aisles waiting for the next hot and fresh batch of whatever is being sampled. The lines may seem ridiculously long, but they move really quickly. I also like that they have a great return policy, if you're not happy with whatever you purchased, bring it back! There is one down side that I have noticed consistently about this location though, a lot of times the fresh fruit is molded. Make sure to double check your fruit and vegetables before you purchase them. read more
