Just joined a couple of weeks ago and I'm already going back tomorrow to ask for my membership fee to be refunded, plus $25 (avg starting hourly pay at Costco) for the hour of my day they wasted. Not only is the shopping experience on par with a refugee camp, they don't take Mastercard? (???!). You have to be kidding. One of the biggest retailers in the world and you're turning away credit cards? My mind is blown. I find this out after waiting in a line half the length of the store to check out. My girlfriend and I have like 8 credit cards between us, none of which we can use at your store. It's ludicrous. Everyone needs giant bags of chips, 1000 rolls of toilet paper, and giant ketchup and mustard bottles laying around in their pantr. Okay I'm kidding about the 1000 rolls of TP as I haven't actually seen them, but really, this is the best place to purchase food if you need to feed a ton of people. Think parties! They have every department imaginable such as a meat dept, veggies, bakery, auto, optical, electronics, photo, and a food court! I love the food court at Costco because the food is all friggin inexpensive. $2 for a footlong hotdog AND a drink? Or $3 for a slice of pizza and pop? C'mon people, that is a deal! And the food is quite tasty. So shop around and stock up to your little heart's desire, then stuff yourself after. That's what I usually do. I love this Costco location. Rarely have issues with finding parking and just never seems to be overly crowded compared to Costco's I went to growing up in California. This location does have a gas station which is nice as it's cheaper to fill up than other locations nearby. More recently they've added self checkout lines here which are nice if you just have a couple of items and feel that you could check yourself out fast than standing in a line to have someone check you out. Their food court also installed self ordering POS systems. For sure these are faster than waiting inline the regular ordering line. I like that no one has caught on to this yet and I can grab a hot dog in under 1 minute as I please on my way out. Not much else I got on this one. 'Til next time, cheers! read more

Inside store employees were not rather helpful but I asked a question just to hear no we don't have it in an unprofessional way....I like Costco better than Sams, even though Sams has more of what I'd rather have. It's ok. Managers and employees need to be more approachable. I got my COVID vaccines here and, a couple minutes after my second dose, felt dizzy and sort of passed out. The whole team was so kind and attentive. They quickly took action and did everything they could to make me feel better (took my blood pressure and got my legs above my head and got me an ice pack and water). Obviously fainting wasn't fun but it was so nice to get such quality care. Thank you Costco pharmacy vaccine staff! I highly recommend coming to this pharmacy. I ordered a $2,600+ TV from Costco and the delivery people they used came with the $1,000 tv model. The label stuck to the box with my order didn't even match the model written in big letters on the Samsung box. 3 days later, during the second attempt, the driver calls and says he says he is on his way. Then later he calls me again and says he is suppose to double check the tv. Why he called me to tell me that no one knows. I assume he needed to double check with the warehouse and confirm that they have the right tv and it's on the truck. After waiting for some time I call him back and ask if he is coming. He said he doesn't have the tv that he was going to deliver. Now I am awaiting the third attempt...Costco has the worst delivery service out there. She was only checking Hispanic and black families and letting the white family passed through no problem. When it come to the Hispanic family, she yelled: get in line! Receipt!! I came during peak hours on a Saturday, so it was difficult to find parking and there were a ton of people in the store. Got my protein bars and some snacks and left. This was the first Costco store in the city. This location is always busy in fact it seems to be more crowded than any other location. They really need a bigger parking lot for all of the customers that they have. This store is a little smaller than most of your Costco's in the suburbs but you can still get a nice variety of items. Anything from furniture, Electronics, grocery, Bakery, fruits and vegetables, everyday Home Furnishings, this store has it all. As with most Costco's, the store seems understaffed so if you're looking for help you generally will not find it. This facility is well built, large and the parking they offer is incredible - so much space for us all. They build new bathrooms recently, so they are really keeping this place fresh and nice for their patrons. I appreciate that. I get lost in time here, which feels good actually, because they have so much to offer. I feel comfortable and welcomed when I stop in , and sometimes we need 2 carts. I try to go alone to manage it and save the expense . If you have a big family , or an event - this is perfect. So many options at excellent prices. We need good prices to know we are "getting a deal". But I appreciate the quality really. They offer very good quality products. And the different selection is incredible. We are a busy family, I don't always want to take a large amount of time to cook & I don't always have patient to learn a new recipe. They offer meals that are already prepared, fresh meals- seal packed and you just need to heat them up. It's fantastic for us. I often look at labels to see the investments and where the items are coming from. They are really giving us a nice selection . I also enjoy their fresh area. Ready made tacos, sushi, already seasoned chicken wings- to mention only a few. Did you know in the summer , they rotisserie up to 200 chickens a day. There is a line . It was only $4.99 for a large size fully cooked chicken! They work so hard in the kitchen and the people that work here are so friendly and helpful. read more

However, the middle-aged blonde at the front entrance is not one of them. She takes her job WAY too seriously and is not friendly enough to be the first employee you have to interact with at Costco. We specifically told her we were going to the membership counter to apply for the Visa card, so she made us walk back out and go through the exit to get to the counter. The process took only 10 minutes, and we went through the entrance again (to go shopping). I waved my packet at her and, AGAIN, she stops us. She said I want to see the card, so I had to stop and walk back to take out the PIECE OF PAPER (temporary barcode) to show her. I told her she literally just saw us go get our membership, and we know you cannot buy anything without it. I'm not really sure why I bought a membership other than unlimited access to samples, but the "membership specialist" somehow convinced me to get a platinum membership ($120 instead of $60) because they told me if I didn't get at least $60 in cash back I could come back in my renewal year and get that $60 back. That part is pending, but for real this Costco is the WORST. It's like if Walmart banged a sams club but planted it in the middle of Chicago. Shitty customers, shitty employees, shity everything. I've been here at 2 pm on a Wednesday and 5 pm on a Sunday and it sucks always. read more

I love this place! As far as Costcos go, this place seems to have less selection and less samples than a suburban Costco. After being a member for about a year, I have learned that going to this location on the weekend is generally a bad idea if I do not want to fight crowds/get run over by someone else's shopping cart. Friday and Saturday nights are the best time to have a more chill shopping experience and to not wait in gas lines. Oh wow. I normally go to the Ashland location, which is a good location, so I was not expecting how much of a chaotic mess this location would be. Very disorganized and poorly managed. Getting through the store people are constantly running into each other/trying to avoid running into each other. Getting *out* of the store is an even bigger nightmare. There were no clear checkout lines and no one knew if they were in line or not for lines going all the way into the aisles in 5 different directions (no, that is not an exaggeration). The "line" kept morphing into different lines: all of a sudden the line you thought you were in becomes a dead end, and that entire line of people is no longer in a line to any checkout... instead, a separate line of people next to your line becomes the line to the checkout. No one is there helping to guide or fix this at all. If you somehow make it to the checkout after 30 minutes, it is not over yet. The layout of the store is such that you are blocked in constantly on your way out. You will slowly, slowly make it past the narrow and constantly moving obstacle course on your way out towards the receipt checkers The lady checking receipts will not let anyone out: instead, she is drawing elaborate pictures on someone's receipt several people ahead of you. So you have another amorphous non-line to wait in while people are bumping into and around you. Finally... you have their parking lot which is laid out in such a way that makes it a constant angular jerky stop-and-go bumper cars experience between the people, cars, and shopping cart attendants coming from all of the many angles this parking lot takes.... and you will wish you never came to this awful place that won't let you out. In sum: Do not ever go to this Costco. Drive to the Costco on Ashland or find one in the suburbs. read more

There are kisoks for ordering, but the line was wrapping around the whole area. The kisoks said there were no pizza, yet I saw pizza in the warmer. The soda machine wasn't working, so they were giving out options of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, or Mountain Dew. A woman asked for water, and they wouldn't give her water. WATER. I tried the new cheeseburger, and it was literally cold. The patties were cold. Made my soul cold. Their regular hot dogs were gross too. I was just sad. I was reluctant to join CostCo because my husband and I live in an apartment without much storage space; I wasn't sure we would buy enough to make the membership worth it. But over the past 2 years we've built our personal list of CostCo must-haves: the smoked salmon, gouda cheese, Spindrift sparkling water, añejo tequila, wine, nuts, Chocolates of the World, Gudrun Belgian chocolates, hemp seeds, flax seeds, olive oil, tuna, almond flour, oranges, berries, spinach, and more. From the prepared foods section, we love the stuffed peppers, the pesto salmon, and the seasonal soups. CostCo is also great for Keto/low-carb & gluten-free items such as sous vide egg bites, cauliflower pizza, and Keto ice cream bars. I don't usually buy the meat because it comes in such large quantities and I only cook for 2 people at a time, but if you want to buy meat in bulk, this is your place. We go to this location and to the one in Niles, and I've decided that this location is the better of the two. The ladies working the checkout lanes here are unbelievably fast. I don't personally own a membership, but daddy J. and mama J. are in town and they are both Costco business members. Their membership works worldwide, so that's definitely a perk. I used to shop at Costco back home with my parents. Now without a personal vehicle, I stick with my neighborhood Hispanic grocery stores. Costco, located on Clybourn, near Damen (accessible via #50 bus) and Diversey, is pretty much a jumbo warehouse that sells electronic appliances, fine jewelry, luxury watches, apparel, accessories, dairy, meat, seafood, fresh produce, deli food, frozen goods, snacks, vitamins, and toiletries. I don't believe that list was exhaustive, but you can certainly accomplish your "one-stop" shopping here in this big "C" store. Here are items that are priced reasonably and are worth to take a look at: 1) HP ink cartridges: hubby prints lots of documents and instructions out daily for work purposes. He also expenses and get reimbursed because one (1) HP black ink cartridge costs approximately $25 (when not on sale in Walgreens). Nevertheless, the HP ink cartridge combo: two (2) black and (1) color cartridges for $60. 2) ground coffee: their 3-lb. Kirkland-brand Colombian ground coffee costs $10.49. If you own one of those Keurig coffee machines at home and has the "my k-cup" device, the ground coffee would come in handy. 3) seafood: they have the Alaskan wild sockeye salmon for $13.99/lb. Yay, that would be an expensive choice for most middle-class Americans. How about the farmed salmon for $6.99/lb.? They also have some other nice selections, like ahi tuna, tilapia, and other frozen varieties. We picked out the Caesar salad on sale for the week and cocktail shrimps. There's a food court located near the registers. There was an ultra-LONG line during lunch rush hours. While they don't feature Chicago-style dogs, they have all-beef dogs with a 20oz. fountain pop (free re-fills included). For $1.50 (as of 07/01/2015), they have condiments on the side for your convenience. Please remember: DON'T EVER PUT KETCHUP ON YOUR HOTDOG! I wouldn't consider the deli food in Costco as out-of-the-world amazing. If you like an indoor picnic, watching people with their giant buggies maneuvering back and forth, you will probably enjoy what Costco has to offer. read more

I wish I could give stars to each department. Because the optical department is amazing & is always 5 stars. Especially an employee named Derek (maybe a manager, not sure) is so great. He really takes care of his customers. Everyone there has been very helpful and attentive. 5 stars for the optical dept. Great team! There is little to no, accessibility here! Especially for folks with disabilities. This goes for folks w/ physical as well as not visible & cognitive disabilities. It's also extremely difficult to find items or know where items are. Sadly it's very rare to see employees around to assist. The line to leave is unreal and again not accessible. Especially if your disability is not visible. The employees will just yell at you. Why not make 2 separate lines when walking out & having to show your receipt/items? No reason to make everyone wait, when some have a few things & others have carts & carts. If you buy 1 item you shouldn't have to wait in the line with someone that has 100 items. I know you can do better. It used to be a little better. read more

I've been to many in the city and I have a membership and so does my partners parents I had left my card so we used my boyfriend's parents and after two hours and a full cart they wouldn't let us through wouldn't even look up my account it was so busy they wouldn't offer any help and the line for a membership was 30+ people. The store is notoriously crowded, you won't find parking for 20 plus minutes, theand staff was very unhelpful in directing us to products we were looking for. Overall I've had enough of this location I will be going out of my way to go to another location with better service and customer support. read more

I've shopped here for more years than I can recall and have always been treated well. Tonight, the rules, rudely and discriminatorily changed right in front of my face. I was in one of the self checkout lanes and there were a line down the middle and markers where to stand. There was a woman repeatedly saying, "there are two lines", she said this loudly and guided people to stay in their lanes. I watched them on several occasions guide people to step up to their designated lane, register that opened. The lane is near the bathroom and as I was going to and from the bathroom I heard them continually repeat, "two lines" and even went as far as to make sure the two lines didn't merge. I love order and direction, especially in situations that can be ambiguous, like merging lines. When it was my time to check out, I picked a line and when it I got to the front of the line, and it was my turn to go, the woman directed a man to go in front of me from the other line. His shameful, grown butt, had the audacity to even question if he could cut over to my line from his line and the woman who had been directing people to stay in their line, told me to wait and told the disrespectful, little boy of a man, that he could go in front of me. He bolted in front of me as I was questioning why she did that. I told her that I had been watching her for the past twenty minutes telling people that their weee two separate line. She looked at me and lied, she said "whoever is first goes next", lying Costco worker and then she tries to redeem herself by letting me cut off the next person in the other line, even though the man Costco worker was directing the appropriate person in that lane to step up. Of course I didn't cross in front of that person because that's not how the line was suppose to work. I spoke to a manager "Scotty", and he agreed that there are two separate lines and lying, discriminatory Costco working girl was wrong. It is so frustrating to still have to deal with this as a black woman and the woman had the audacity to allow white man privilege prevail even when he and she were wrong. Beware about ordering major appliances from Costco. They use Innovel Solutions (Costco acquired them in 2020) for their delivery and installation. The delivery crew was very careless and damaged my hardwood floors during the process. I filed a property damage claim with Innovel, and was told I will get resolution in 72 hours, but it's been over two weeks now and I still don't have an update. It seems like Innovel used a 3rd party provider, so I'm basically just given the runaround and no one is taking accountability. This is the worst Costco I have ever been to. My membership card did not scan when checking out as the barcode had rubbed off. The representative at the front of the store, said they would hold my cart while I went to the service desk since they could not help, which was great However, I went to the service desk, and they said I needed to show them in the app that I was a member, which I did not have. I downloaded the app and asked them for help directing me to what they needed to see. They refused to help me and said that they could not help until they could prove I was a member. After 10 minutes of googling and people telling me I was in the way at the service desk, I was able to show that I was a member and they issued me a new card. I went back to the front and they said they took my cart back because they didn't think I was a member so I had to spend another 20 minutes refilling my cart. When I went back to check out, the barcode did not scan again and the representative at the front didn't believe me that I had just gone to the service desk and tried to have me removed from the store until I went to the service desk and they remembered me and said they could prove I was a member and we were able to override at the cash register Everyone at the store was incredibly unhelpful and I asked the manager if I could file a complaint to which she said that she would handle it and a complaint what did not need to be filed so I wanted to write a review so other people are aware of this poorservice. Called the day before and they said I had to make an appointment.If I did not it would be a 2 hr wait.So I made the appointment for We'd.at one pm.I am still waiting an hour and 30 minutes. They are so slow and no one has the courtesy to let me know how much longer is my wait.
