Wow...got near enough to see the Costco pumps within view and couldn't believe my eyes: no queue, no backup, no wait. First time that's happen at a California Costco Gas station for me. We were in Laguna Hills, visiting family friends...so needed gas before we headed back home. There were many nearby Costco, so stopped at this one to fill up. The first thing to immediately notice was that there was no wait...usually you have to figure out where the end of the line is, but in this case, it was finding an open pump. It has 4 islands with 3 dual-sided pumps each, so a total of 24 nozzles. There is a middle pump on each island, which would require parallel parking if that's the only one open. And I noticed that there was no cones set-up for easier directional queues for the pumps...it would be very painful to get in line if it got busy. But we were in/out in no time, especially with the one-touch membership/payment option. Price was $4.49 per gallon, regular. We parked nearby and found that the actual Costco warehouse to be a lot less crowded than the ones we visit in LA County as well. Well...when we were driving home, we noticed the Arco that we would always go to before we re-engaged with Costco about 2 years ago, had gas for $4.29. Dang it! So immediately checked the costco app, which has current gas prices...and sure enough, the Signal Hill gas price that we normally go-to was $4.05. (Filled-up 10/24/23 TU @ 2:30pm): The cheapest gasoline closest to where I was at... as long as you had a membership or gift card! Laguna Niguel's Costco Gasoline station location was a revelation to me since I was rarely in this part of southern Orange County. However, I was in desperate need of gas and wanted something that wasn't going to break the bank. On average, Costco's gas prices were usually about $0.20/gallon cheaper than the going rate everywhere else, and I was always about value. However, this particular location wasn't visible at all off the nearest freeways (e.g. 5, 73) nor was it easy to get to once you exited the freeway. In this particular case, I simply took local side streets which was easier than getting back on the freeway. How would this location compare with others within the chain I've dealt with and in the area!? PURCHASE 87 Unleaded Gas ($65.01): My gas light was about to turn on, and although this location wasn't in the direction I was heading back home, I was assured less expensive prices. Surprisingly, there was no wait and less than ten vehicles total when I arrived, so I quickly pulled up to a pump and began feeding my car. After 13.00 gallons of gas at $4.99/gallon, my "Company CRaVer" was full and ready to head back to our hipster L.A. 'hood! SERVICE Unless there was something wrong with the pump you were at, the machine was out of receipt paper, or your Costco membership card wasn't working, it was all self-service. Thankfully, my Pump #12 flowed at a good pace. I didn't happen to see any employees milling around for any customer support like other locations. Otherwise... all was good. PARKING (N/A) None specifically for the gas station. However, there were plenty of spots that surrounded the station and plenty more as you drove away and headed towards the actual warehouse where they had a massive private lot - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Located within the clean Laguna Marketplace off of Heather Ridge Rd., this was a large gas station with fairly wide one-way aisles all with long lanes that allowed you to maneuver and navigate by cars as you pulled into a pump. It had a total of 24 pump stations (8 gas lanes with 3 double-sided pump columns). However, no soapy suds, squeaky squeegees, paper towels, and air or water stations - just like all other Costco gas stations I've been to. But, there were places to dump any trash you had. The pump stations were completely covered from the elements unless a hurricane or tornado headed towards you. There was only one way to enter the area which alleviated any confusion, congestion, or traffic jams that potentially spilled into the surrounding parking spaces, and only one exit. There was plenty of natural lighting during the day while soul-sucking fluorescent lighting filled in the rest during the evening. Best fuel prices around! I used to DREAD coming to Costco to fuel up, as the lines can get insane. Well.. I realized that was only because I used to come on weekends. Visit at off-peak times and you'll be fine! (I try to come about an hour before they close, midweek.) Returned today (02/17/19) for gasoline; I used a different pump (the next pump over) and had absolutely no issue with pumping gasoline NORMALLY. COSTCO, get pump 13 fixed and stop yelling customers stories about holding it at an angle. Geez!!!!! The attendant was very helpful, I was at Pump 13 and it kept shutting off. He explained I had to hold the pump handle vertically to get it to work. He stated the splash back from holding the pump in the way I've held it for 50 years doesn't work at Costco pumps -- the handle needs to be at an angle with the bottom of the handle being pointed towards the sky. I said I've been pumping gas in my Highlander since 2012 to which he stated this is how it works 'here' meaning Costco. I've been a Costco member since I lived in CA in my 20s; from CA, MA, TX...all over this country - never heard of holding the handle a certain way. Good t read more

Go early or later at night and it's a 5 star. At other times, I have no idea of what it is like. I don't go during those periods. Early in the morning, it often looks like there are a few people around and not a long wait. In the evening, there seem to be even fewer people around, especially when it nears closing time. As with 99% of Costco gas locations, expect long, slow moving lines. Do not expect to get in and out of here quickly. The trade off to discounted gas is having to wait a beat for it. The lines can also easily stretch into the regular Costco lot too so maneuvering around can be a trick. read more

Who doesn't love saving money with Costco Gas? I've been to a lot of different Costco's and this one is awesome. The lines are decent and not as bad as some of the other Costco's I've been to. Now with Costco Gas stations, if you don't like waiting you should go at right before closing or go early in the morning when it opens. Always go to the first pump or the last pump, as those are usually the ones with the smaller lines. My biggest pet peeve at Costco Gas Stations is to always pull forward when the people in the front pumps are done using the pump and drive off. Instead of just waiting for the back one to finish just pull forward to keep the lines from getting long. My last pet peeve is to have your debit/credit card and Costco membership card ready as you're driving up to the pump. read more

Surprisingly short lines even on weekends. I'm sure it helps that it's right off the freeway, but secluded enough and with only one main entry/exit. I definitely like how it's organized, since it leaves room in the backend for people to enter just for gas and not somehow block the folks who are trying to just get into the Costco store. It is also the cheapest place that I know of for gas in South OC. The gas station is out on the edge of the unusually large parking lot. I have never had an issue when I stop in. Maneuvering through the station is tricky, posturing for a position in line is aggravating, the wait for a right sided pump is doggedly long and the patrons seem obtusely acclimatized to the process. Filling at Costco Gasoline is the worst. Pros: Cheap gas. Cons: Cheap gas. With the minimal savings per gallon aside I have no reason to fill up on rebranded Valero gas at Costco.
