I really like this Costco, especially the optical department. It's really hard to find good frames here. But, this Costco will put lenses into your frames. I had my lenses put in two separate times here, and they turned out to be great. The lenses don't scratch up as easily as other places I've been to that were much more expensive. Most employees here are not very nice! In particular the self checkout line! The guy there is SO RUDE! His name is ruben! Always yelling at customers! While i understand they would like to get customers out and not be in line forever there is NO need to yell at customer to make up their minds if they are gonna check out or not! I don't like Costco; it's a chore. And I thought that other reviews here couldn't be true about it being that much better. But I was surprised to find that it was indeed a more enjoyable Costco at which to shop. I got there about 20 minutes after opening and happened to find a pretty close spot, but the parking lot was not overrun anyway. And the store was a bit more subdued--it wasn't as loud and frenzied as other Costcos I've been to. The food area wasn't packed with people blocking the exit. The boxes were placed in what to me seems a more reasonable spot--you picked them up on the way out, instead of having to go the opposite direction from some of the registers to get one. I'll probably use this Costco regularly since it's not too much further away. read more

This review is of the Glenview Costco Hearing Aid Center and Jabra products only. I purchased Jabra Enhance Pro 8 hearing aids from the Glenview Costco Hearing Aid Center three years ago. Terrific product, terrific service! I've been back several times for follow up testing and adjustments and always appreciated the knowledgeable and courteous service. This week I made an appointment with Costco because people were telling me that they had trouble hearing me during hands free phone conversations with my iPhone 11. The Costco techs spent 45 minutes trying to figure out the cause of the problem, including themselves calling Jabra support. In the end, they told me that the Jabra Enhance Pro 8 hearing aids did not support hands free calling. Really? I explained that they were originally sold to me promoting that feature, and that until recently I'd been making hands-free calls without issue. They insisted that the only Jabra hearing aids that supported hands free calls were later models (10s, 20s and 30s), and that if I wanted this feature I would need to pay $1,700 for an upgrade. I checked the original documentation that came with my hearing aids. Unfortunately, the documentation was frustratingly vague, and didn't even reference my Jabras' specific model. I then went to the Jabra website and searched for documentation for the Enhance Pro 8 hearing aids. To my surprise, there is no documentation specific to this model; in fact, there is no reference to the Enhance Pro 8 hearing aids on their website. What's up with that? I then called a phone number I found in my original Jabra paper documentation: 1-800-882-3636. I quickly reached a live person and explained my situation. His response: "How did you get this number?" He then unceremoniously transferred me to another department where, fortunately, I connected with a helpful and knowledgeable support person. She confirmed that the Enhance Pro 8s did indeed support hands free calling, but recent changes to iOS had made this feature problematic. She offered a workaround, which while not ideal, did improve audio quality at the expense of another feature: the "Speech focus" option in the Jabra app was no longer available. She said that this should not have happened and recommended that I reinstall the Jabra app. I did that, and the Speech Focus option returned, but later disappeared again. I asked if I could configure a speech focus setting myself, but she said that was manufacturer only. I then asked if there was any support documentation or specs available for the Jabra Enhance Pro 8 hearing aids, and she informed me that there was none. Surreal. While I'm grateful that I was able to get *some* support in a timely manner, I think I know why the Costco techs were so uninformed: there's something wrong with Jabra the company. read more

This location isn't our primary Costco, but we end up here quite enough times for a grocery stop and/or gas if we happen to be in this vicinity as opposed to Mount Prospect. I will say from experience that no other Costco location provides more and varied food samples than this one, so that's an extra treat for coming here. Today, after picking up a couple of miscellaneous items, the wife and I treated one of our grand-darlings to lunch here, given that she likes hot dogs. And you know the Coscto deal - it's still here and amazing and the prices haven't changed in maybe 20 years?? For $4.99, we got 2 big hot dogs, two 20 oz drinks, and a big slice of cheese pizza. Update for the Costco optometrist's office only: Answer. Your. Phones. They don't answer. It goes straight to voicemail. I called several times over 2 days to make an appointment. Finally I had to leave a voicemail in the afternoon. They called back the next morning around 9:30am. I was not at my phone that very moment so I missed the call. I scrambled and called back the number ASAP and luckily, surprise surprise, they answered this time and I finally made an appointment. After that appointment I had a follow-up question so I called again. Of course, no answer so I left a VM. This time I got No call back after 2 days - so I just drove to their office and talked with them directly where they couldn't dodge my call. Such a pain. Plus it has taken 3 appointments to get my contacts right. They charged me for the first contacts fitting appoinment as expected, then charged me again for a second appointment because I coudn't read anything with the first prescription. They adjusted my Rx but still I was having trouble reading text. So then they tried to charge me at the third followup. This time I questioned the fee, and they said they would waive it "this one time", talking down to me like they were doing me some big favor. Gee thanks. I've only been trying to get these contacts straightened out for like 2 months. I am done with this office. It's rush, rush, rush even when no one is waiting behind you. They are short-staffed. Only one office worker. So they don't answer the phones. Their prescriptions are, quite frankly, a bit suspect. And then after all that, they act like they are doing you a favor. The previous doctor, Dr. Weller, was excellent but she left a few years ago. People would ask me, "Why do you go for eye exams at Costco of all places?" And I would say, "The doctor's office is actually quite good." Not anymore. I will not be returning to Costco for any more eye exams. Your health is important and it requires a certain level of service and care. Don't run your doctor's office like the Costco tire center. read more

Upon scanning, I was told that I could not purchase the book because it was put out on accident and could not be sold. If I could give this store a "0" I would. The customer service at this location is non-existent. I was sitting in the lot awaiting my daughter who was inside picking up a few things. Out walked a woman with a cart loaded with water and soda. She was an attractive woman who was mini in stature and I would say the cart weighed more than she did. As she struggled getting the cart across the lot I saw an employee who instead of offering to help her , watched her NOT offering to help her in anyway. He waited a few parking spaces away until she lifted every bottle and when she finally finished his lazy self walked up to her and he had the nerve to ask her for her cart. After you have to wait in the long lines to check out , then the long line to exit the store because the security has to act like they're actually checking the receipt to make sure you paid for all the items on your receipt. Then you have a cart attendant who is so lazy he'd rather watch a customer bust her butt instead of asking if she would like help. Customer service is a thing of the past here. If they could get a 5 star rating for lazy employees this Costco would be rated at an all time high The manager of this store wake your employees up out of their comas And remember ........ I was appalled to learn when I when to Costco in Glenview last Sunday that they only allow members with an Executive Membership early access to the store. I am sorry, having any membership and not able to get a simple entrance to the store one hour earlier without being upgraded to the Executive membership is so unfair. I just looked up the information and Costco makes 4.6 million a year in revenue on Executive Memberships. Talk about greedy. I think it is time to switch to Sam's Club. read more

I love the store. BUT, I almost lost my life in the parking lot. I was choking on a piece of sweet roll I had just bought from Costco. I was making calls and eating while parked when I got a piece of sweet roll caught in my trachea. I held my hand down on the horn opened my car door and waved frantically at one of the parking lot workers who looked at me and the turned in the opposite direction and walked away. I was in the store tonight at around 7:41 pm; I left my Costco card at home so I needed a temporary one. There were 2 employees behind the counter; one was helping another customer with a return, and one working on packing up previous returns. There was no one else in line so I figured I would ask the man that was standing there packing the returns if he could get me a temporary card. His response to me without even looking up or stopping what he was doing was "no I can't". I asked, no you can't right now, or tonight at all? He replied by saying something in the lines of "not now, I'm in the middle of this!" (couldn't make it out under his mask and he never looked up) I waited until the other man finished with the customer to print the card. I am completely and utterly appalled at this employees' response; this is the complete opposite of customer service, and I have NEVER had an experience like this at a Costco, let alone one I go to multiple times a week for personal and business. This is based solely on my last experience with this Glenview IL store, otherwise they would get a 4.9 rating (slight ding for produce freshness). My membership used to automatically renew, but no longer does. Upon checking out with a full cart, I was informed my membership expired. As there was a very recent death of a family member, I told them I needed to make a change to remove the decedent. Big mistake as I had to go through their Membership Inquisition!!! While I had been a member since this store opened over 20 years ago, they would not renew my membership without requiring me to bring legal paperwork to prove the validity of my identity. My Costco card, drivers license and a business card were insufficient. The manager I was referred to seemed to be on some kind of power trip and didn't care if she lost a long term customer. She was discompassionate, uncaring, rude and unprofessional. I left my unpaid scanned items at the cashier and walked out of the store. My past history with the store and it's staff had been excellent, the complete opposite of this encounter. Obviously this staff member and her manager are in need of some serious of HR intervention. While I considered never giving Costco another dime of my business, I renewed my membership to a minimal level over the phone. The phone representative was extremely polite and professional as was the in-store membership representative at a different store location. I haven't been back to the Glenview store since. I went to my local Costco in Niles to return (get a credit) and reinvest it into a different bottle that I wanted to try. Like I mentioned before my friend gave me a bottle of Johnny Walked Double Black for my birthday which I really appreciated. The problem is I already have 3 bottles of Johnny black & double black at home so I went to the Costco in Niles trying to return it. Eileen would not take it back saying it was Costco's policy not to take returns on Liquor. I thought since when? I spend a lot of money at Costco. Costco has always been very good about returns. I didn't even want to just return it as I had my eye on a Kirkland 18yr old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whiskey. Sure the bottle is also little bit more than the Johnny Walker Double Black, but why do I need a 4th bottle of the same liquor. Anyhow I came here to the GLENVIEW store and they gave me a full refund for the bottle (NO QUESTIONS) which I promptly used for the Kirkland 18yr old. I bought a bottle a few days ago and after the Yelp Elite Event last night @ Berghoff I went home and poured myself a glass. This is a very good bottle of Single Malt, not as good as Macalluns but way less than $200 plus per bottle. Between the credit on my returned bottle of Johnny Walker Double Black I added another $20.74 & got a far superior product. I am happy to say I took the reviewers advice bought a bottle took it home a tried it. The flavor is very smooth unlike some of the cheaper Single Malt scotches. This Kirkland Single Malt is well worth the $55 I spent and I'm sure I will get many glasses of enjoyment from it. read more

Cheapest lunch in Glenview? It has to be. $1.50 hot dog and soda is legendary. $1.99 for a big slice of pizza is also an incredible deal. Neither of these are top quality, but they are worth the price. Honestly, the hot dog is questionable, but the pizza is better than you'd think. It's kind of floppy but bready, so quite filling. Even if you add a soda, your lunch is still less than three bucks. Or you can pig out with both hot dog and pizza for less than four bucks. They have pared down the entree menu in the last year, which is for the best because a few of the departed items were dreadful. For a sweet tooth, they offer churros, soft serve (vanilla and acai flavors), and fruit smoothies. Sure, sometimes the onion machine is out of onions, the fountain machine offers Pepsi products, and it's almost impossible to find a seat before 1:00 pm...but you can't have everything. Eeep! Who the heck is crazy enough to stop by Costco, on prime time Saturday, and think they are going to get through the store and through the lines quickly enough to make it to their next destination in time? Yep that was me tonight, and guess what? I made it happen. Okay, so I had a little help with my hubby who took one aisle and I took another, and we were able to divide and conquer, but all-in-all we were total rock stars. First of all, the parking lot looked scary at first, but we found a spot no problem at all. We got right in, grabbed a cart and knew what we wanted to get. On our way in, we couldn't help but smell the greenery from the holiday wreaths, and TBH, we're probably going to go back and snag one of those, because for the price of around $18, we'd be crazy not to. We were also distracted by the holiday section in general. But, if you want to make it out alive, on time, and on budget, have your list and stick to it. Stay focused! Here's what we left with...toilet paper and bar soap for days, Ibuprofen, and Dunkin Donuts coffee. Next time we'll come back for snacks and foodstuffs, but this trip was purely for boring home essentials. Lines were fast, and we zipped in and out and made it to our next destination in time. Tire center review: i would give a 0 if i could. Bought 4 tires, and they asked me to pick up my car 1.5 hrs later. Woman named Candace had an attitude already from the beginning. Not friendly. They were short staffed that day and she overheard me telling my spouse to pick me up. My spouse thinks it was too long. She overheard our conversation which is none of her business. Approached me, but felt more like attack me. I picked up my car and they damaged the car logo on the tire on purpose. I know it was done on purpose as the dealer confirmed it. Either way this was very unprofessional. They were all in it as well including their mechanics. These are young people without professional manners. Not worth your $$ coming here. read more

Here's what you need to know: Mark at The Tire Center is awesome, and really goes above and beyond for customer service. I had a nail in the aide of my tire deeming it unrepairable and mark took care of me with amazing service. Got me a cost for the new tire with install, explained the features of the warranty, and advised me without any sales pressure. Unfortunately because of the time it would take to receive the new tire, I could not go with Costco and had to suck it up and drive over to Tesla to pay dealer markup price to get same day in stock availability. But Mark made sure I had enough air to get me there without wheel damage and really showed care and concern for me. I will definitely go back to this Costco Tire Center for all future needs because of Mark's service Thank you. Clean and organized. Fantastic employees. While there I noticed an abundance of employees cleaning and restocking shelves. So much to choose from. Check out was simple. It seems nearly impossible to monitor social distancing and people wearing only bandanas when they should be wearing actual masks. Also, I noticed many fewer kosher selections.
