Bought 2 sunglasses, they were defective with large black spots which would appear at random making the glasses unusable. Love Costco. They are adjusting to the pandemic by Controlling the number of customers. They also provide hand sanitizer, removing display tables so there are more space for customers to move around. Costco is large enough to easily accommodate payments using all type of cards (including non-VISA). But they don't. I forgot to bring my visa card today. Stopped by Costco for some shopping the other day and ended up at the bistro after the cash lanes. Tried the Carne Asada Bake which was mediocre. Although it seemed healthier than say a burrito, the steak itself was more well done that I had preferred. In general, the bake didn't taste "fresh," it tasted more like something that was previously frozen and then zapped in the oven. ...for $4 I guess that's what we get from Costco... Don't come here to make returns. They are consistently understaffed and the line is outside the building - often at the tire center. This is not fun during the winter months. I waited 10 minutes in line and it didn't move. I went inside to see what was going on only to discover that they had two people in customer service and one was tied up with the manager talking to a customer. I interrupted them to let them know that there were ten people in line in the cold and asked if they could please call more customer service staff to move the line along. I waited another 5 minutes and the line moved up one spot. No one was called to the desk to help. At fifteen minutes in I had to decide if my shopping was more important than my return. This used to be my favorite Costco to shop at. No more. They've been going downhill over the last 6 months. I'll be heading elsewhere. read more

Not sure if it's the time and day I come here but every time I come here, the check out line is not long at all, which I like very much! Parking can be tough at times because it's in a busy plaza. I've also been finding things here that I can't find at other locations. Was able to grab some mama chia drinks, butter lettuce that you can replant. The butter lettuce is probably one of the coolest purchases I've made at costco because it's the whole lettuce head with the roots intact. You can just rip the leaves and add water to the plastic container to regrow leaves & it was only $3.99 for 2 heads. Another plus is that they're also organic. Overall, I like this location, just really wished that they had a gas station here. read more

Total disclosure here. I have a total and unrelenting addiction to Costco. Lets face it its a Costco. There are subtle variations between cities and each one seems to have its own unique life the overall Gestalt remains the same. Mountain View is no different. That being said there are a few noteworthy differences for this location. First off there is no gas station. The closest one from this location is about 8 miles North in Redwood City. its also a smaller warehouse so it may not have everything a larger one does. We have established by necessity a few rules when shopping: 1) NEVER EVER go in hungry. That 25 gallons of dill pickle chips is much easier to resist on a full stomach.... true story there. 2) Avoid the free samples. People seem to lose their minds with this stuff. They abandon carts with crying babies, block isles, etc all to get that tiny portion of hummus. I have been shoved aside by someone desperate to get a free piece of cheese. Honestly I have seen more dignity from actual starving people in a disaster zone but I digress. 3) Avoid the weekends like the plague. 4) See #1 5) Go often. Costco uses alot of psychology and the fear of missing out is one of them. Odd items you must have pop up then go never to return. I CAN'T MISS OUT AGGGGGGG 6) Know your codes: At costco any price ending in 0.97 means it has been marked down. Any price that is not a 0.99 or .97 such as say 0.49 means it has a manufacturers discount. and price with an * on it means its done and will not be reordered so stock up. If it ends in a .00 or a 0.88 a manager has reduced the price at that location to clear it out. If you can follow the rules you are treated to alot of good buys. It has tons of organic items and they are priced well. It also has an extensive meat department and the turnover is fast so it always seems fresh. The same goes with produce etc. Lastly the retun policy even on electronics is one of the best in the industry, You wont go wrong here. read more

This Costco is straight up awful. It has the worst parking lot ever, hands-down. Everywhere else I've lived, I frequented Costco a couple times a month if not weekly (the fluffy kid loves their chicken!). That said, the parking situation here was bad enough that I Costco'd maybe once every 4-6mo. I gave it a shot at least 10 times, but there were many days where I circled the lot for a bit then gave up. This is one of the bigger Costco locations in the Bay Area (which means you'll find more stuff here), but the hassle of parking just wasn't worth it to me. read more

On 02/02/22 This review is for a guy named ANH working in the pharmacy. A lady was helping me at the register and I asked for a certain otc cream. I confirmed the cream & the price has ALWAYS been $2.39 and asked for 4 total. ANH walks by hearing my request and takes the price tag of $2.39 off the shelf as I was about to get ringed up. He then proceeds to take all the cream off the shelf. I can hear everything as he's right there. He tells the lady to charge me $4.78 and that they should've changed/updated the price. The manner in which he was doing and saying all of this was very rude and he already had an attitude. The lady told me the price changed. I said no he just pulled the price off the shelf as I'm about to pay & the individual stickers on the cream even still have the price as $2.38 and it isn't my fault as a customer someone didn't update the price. She goes turns back to tell him. He's fine with the $2.38 UNTIL, I remind the lady I wanted 4 total and she only had the one in her hand. She goes back to the side and grabs the additional 3 BUT ANH Rudely starts yelling saying "No she pay $4.78!" I said no I requested 4 now you're not fine with me paying the price it shows and what was on the self as well until you took it off as I'm about to pay? He was trying to argue and I asked for a manager. A tall guy from pharmacy came out to see what was going on. I told him the situation and he said it's fine to ring me up for the price $2.39 and he apologized and leaves back inside. I then ask the lady at the register for Aquaphor she grabs it, ANH again still behind the counter with an attitude starts rudely raising his voice and says shooing me away "no you go there you go there buy it outside there!" I said go where?! He proceeds to tell the lady they sell Aquaphor outside the pharmacy on the floor. I said where is it bc I didn't see it at all and so I'm buying it here. The lady says it might be cheaper out on the floor. He again rudely yells and says showing me away "I don't know I don't work there I don't stock go buy out there!" At this point I'm pissed tf off and start raising my voice as well and asking what's your fckn problem now I'm going to buy this here and I'm a paying customer! I asked the lady what's his name and who's the manager? No one answered me. I bought my products and went to the side to see his name tag. I asked the people at the regular checkout if the pharmacy managers are separate, they said yes. I had my kids with me and was running on a schedule so I had to leave, rather than going back and investigating and talking to the pharmacy manager. read more

Costcos feel like all the one and the same, but this one feels so much worse than the others. 1. Parking area is so small. In such a busy area like Rengstorff, you're battling for parking. Other Costcos have larger parking lots that are devoted just for Costco and no other stores. 2. Samples I love me some samples, but this was definitely lacking here. Otherwise, it's not a bad Costco. The layout's a bit different, but you can still meander your way around. The lines aren't atrocious. It feels smaller as everything feels more cramped like the optical center felt more like an afterthought. So if you live nearby, I guess you have no other choice otherwise you'll have to venture to the Sunnyvale location which is just much worse in terms of parking (even with the larger lot). read more

I brought the card, we have the same last name and same address on our driver's license, and the primary cardholder had previously asked about a 2nd card... Despite all that, the store manager, Alamo, refused to speak to the cardholder on the phone. I was also not allowed to shop at the store. Cancelled our membership. We love Costco! And this one is an excellent example of why! On our first visit to this location, the employees impressed us. The front door card checker was friendly and that attitude was carried through at the service desk when we went to pick up our membership. All items are clearly marked. The selection in every department is outstanding as well. Finally, upon checkout, I did not realize that the price of muffins included two 6 packs. I only had one and the cashier sent a store worker back to the bakery to retrieve another 6 pack for me. That is excellent customer service for sure! When we were at the exit, I overheard a customer talking to the receipt checker and you could tell that they have known one another for a while. It was a lovely experience overall. read more

Costco has been a long time favorite of mine. To the uninitiated, Costco may bring visions of extra large double boxes of cereal or laughs about being simply a place for endless toilet paper rolls, but to its many fans, Costco is so much more. It began simply enough for me when it was still Price Club and our family joined in the hopes of feeding a growing family and scoring discounts on everyday used goods. Price Club eventually became Costco and it only became better. More goods, more items, and especially notable, more meats and produce. The famous food courts with the perennial $1.50 hot dog and soda followed and the excellent wine selection were soon making a name for itself once I was old enough to appreciate both wine and the myriad of other alcohol Costco sold. As Whole Foods grew in popularity, Costco continued along as well and soon became the number one supplier of organic produce in the country. Their famous $4.99 rotisserie chicken is a fraction of the cost of the equivalent at Whole Foods and their USDA prime selection of ribeye and seafood soon surpassed all but the very best of the local butcher markets. Don't even get me started on the samples. I went away for school and the opening of Costco was one of the greatest memories of my time in the Midwest. Sure, there was a Sam's Club somewhat closer, but only Costco could do samples in a way that made a poor student smile. That and the bulk packaging of lap cheong sausage were a reminder of home during the cold winters of the Midwest. I've had jamon iberico bellota sliced from the leg as a Costco sample and even ordered an A5 Wagyu ribeye roast from Costco. The Mountain View location deserves props for the diversity of selection and their choice of items for even the fanciest gourmets from the seasonal truffles (not the candy but the shaved black and white type) to the organic cotton candy grapes. Simply put, Costco is one of my favorite stores of all time and even started me on my relationship with another favorite company of mine, American Express. Their sole acceptance of American Express was the only reason that I even ever applied to an American Express. But why this review and why now? Well, Costco had some big news this year. They've become the ultimate American Express outcast (by choice) and switched to VISA. My Costco American Express was my last Amex card standing. Would I choose Costco? Would I stick with American Express? Two of my favorite brands of the past decade....who was it going to be? Well, suffice it to say that the Citibank transition from American Express went ultra-smoothly for me and the reward structure is both better and more rewarding than ever. I'm sorry Amex. Most costcos are generally the same layout. This one has a very cramped parking lot-and due to its location in central Moutain View, it gets PACKED. But unlike the one in San Jose, the people here are also way more eager to tell you to get out of the way. You can take a person out of a car, but you can't take their mind out of traffic. Watch out for passive-aggressive behavior, cutting you off and pushing your cart out of the way and not looking you in the eye if you bump into each other. I found that specialist sections very cramped due to the limited amount of space. The membership line was blocking the entrance/exit. The food line was all over the place. I hate this Costco. My hatred for it is near comparable to the Sunnyvale location. I grew up going to the one on Coleman and then the last few years, I frequented the one on Hostetter. Now that we're in Palo Alto, this one is the closest to home. Why do I hate this Costco? Parking. Parking here SUCKS. Combine that with the plethora of Asian drivers who can't drive. Or park. Or go down the aisles in the wrong effing direction. Park close to Krispy Kreme and then walk over. It'll save your blood pressure from going into overdrive or killing your mood before stepping food into the warehouse of doom. Carts: On the weekends, there are no carts by the entrance. Where are the carts? Scattered everywhere dinging into cars throughout the entire parking lot. Note, make sure you grab a cart on your way in. Secondly, the next thing you do when you enter, is grab a few items by the door and throw it into your cart so someone doesn't walk off with it. Entrance: This entrance just sucks. Between the gazillion people trying to come out and the thirty people that congregate there, its one hell of a traffic jam. Oh yeah and make sure you get your membership card out cause it really sucks standing behind the mom with the oversized tote pulling out everything except her damn card. People that shop here: They really need to stop jacking my cart, talking on their cell phones loudly in their native languages while meandering down the center of an aisle going slow as a snail while I can't get the hell around them. Oh yeah, and there's always the Chinese family that's trying to eat the blueberries and strawberries before buying it. "Tasteing to see if its sweet" then grabbing a different carton. Yeah. cut that sh*t out. You're making me feel like I should pull a Michael Jackson and deny any relation to being Asian. Oh yeah... how about the families that let their kids run buck wild or the ones that repeatedly go around in circles to sample. Look. There's a food court up at the front. That's just ghetto. I admit we did that in college but you're setting a pathetic example for your kids when you feed them lunch by going to the dino nugget sample stand 10 times in a row. Lines: Lines here are horrendous. Seriously seriously horrendous. No matter when I shop here, there's always a huge line going down the warehouse. And they rarely open more checkstands. ARGHH!! Hostetter Costco's management was all over the lines. It was like the Lucky of Costcos... three carts and they opened up a new line. Returns area: Okay... I understand the occasional return and I'm guilty of it. Its pretty pathetic when I'm standing in line to return my husband's dress shirt that was marked M but in reality was some XXL, but when I have to wait in line for half an hour because there's a family in front of me that is returning a package of two gallon milk. Seriously people? After you finish off one entire gallon and the remaining gallon is about 1/4 full and "spoiled" so you claim? Goes back to my section about why I dislike the "people that shop here." Darn you Costco. Surprisingly not that busy of a Costco located inside the Rengstorff Center. We came here on a Saturday after noon because we needed to go to Costco to purchase some things, and we happened to be close by this Costco. We were able to find a parking spot pretty quickly, happened to be right next to a shopping cart return area. The Costco was your typical old Warehouse Costco carrying all the essentials every single Costco carries. One thing though, at Wireless Phone Department, there was nobody there managing it. I went there right as I entered Costco and no one was there, and towards the end when we were ready to check out, no one was there again. Perhaps, at the time I went, they were all on lunch break??? I'm a lifelong fan of Costco, and if you're reading this review and don't have a membership, I suggest you run and get one. Deep discounts on books and DVDs, kitchen appliances, electronics, food - when the apocalypse forces us all to scramble for shelter, I hope I'm shopping at Costco. The samples alone are almost worth the trip, as are the dirt cheap hot dogs and smoothies. Prices are ridiculously good, and I don't care who you are, you will use that enormous package of toilet paper eventually. When I came to the Mountain View Costco, I fell in love with a 5'3 teddy bear who was so soft and snuggly I wanted to hug him forever. He cost $28.99 and had I not been worried about bag fees on my way back to L.A. I would have bought him in a second. I hope Mr. Cuddles found a good home. I miss him. read more

Ah, if you're trying to do your Costco shopping on the weekend, good luck trying to find parking! You'll most likely be parking far away. The first time I visited this Costco I was appalled by the workers. For some strange reason they are very strict about letting you in through the exit. Well what if I need to make a return or if I'm just here to pick up a pizza OR if I need to see the tire center? They purposefully make you go in through the entrance and then walk all the way around. That's just messed up. On another incident.. I was getting some free samples when a manager comes by and starts yelling the employees head off in front of everyone. That is so tactless! If your employee did something wrong, either talk to them in a calm voice or pull them into your office. All in all, this is like any other Costco with the bulk food and samples but the workers here make my experience horrible. read more

It was late afternoon on a Saturday when my fiance and I went and it was not bad at all. Parking was easy and it was safe going back to your vehicle. This is the ONLY Costco store in the Bay Area where some of the customers are Bat Crazy Hostile towards other shoppers for no apparent reason. Every other Costco store in the Bay Area doesn't have this problem. Every time I come here, a random customer tries to start drama with other people. One time a lady tried to claim BOTH exit lines where the Costco employee marks your receipt. Another time right after you get in the entrance, random women starts accusing other shoppers of taking their "UNATTENDED" shopping carts, yet these shoppers get their OWN carts from the millions of other carts located outside the entrance. Seriously are people that friggin lazy to start accusing other shoppers just so they can steal EMPTY shopping carts? Not sure if RAID will help help with the crazies here.... read more

They're doing a really great job during Covid quarantine. Keep up the great work Costco! I feel like the workers here are nice and they are doing a really good job of social distancing. I just wish that some of the foods that I liked were in stock more often when I was there. I suppose there are constraints on inventory. I love this Costco. It is clean, well maintained, has all of the up to date inventory and the it never feels like I have entered a zoo (a common experience at most Costco's). My only complaint is that this Costco doesn't have a gas station at it, so I end up having to go to the Sunnyvale Costco which I'm not a huge fan of. Overall, this Costco is the nicest one in the South Bay. I highly recommend coming here if you want quality in products and a positive experience where you don't feel pushed and shoved. Also - the food here is amazing. I am obsessed with Costco pizza. If you haven't tried it, you absolutely have to. You could also pretty much have a full meal just walking around and eating samples... which is also a plus. ;) read more

Well that was a horrible experience for me I got pizza and pespi and after I ate my pizza i started to get a bellyache and i didn't feel well after eating I think the pizza may have given me food poisoning but I am not sure customers please check your pizza before leaving I will never be eating pizza at this Costco again. read more

This Costco is not bad on the weekends. I try at all costs to avoid going to Costco (Sunnyvale) on the weekends b/c a) the parking is a nightmare and b) too long of a line to stand in. This one in Mtn. View proved to be worthwhile to come to b/c a) the parking is easy to find and b) the line flows pretty well. I love the fact that the you can now order food from the snack bar when you're checking out and I no longer have to wait in another hideous line! read more
