I looked around Yelp in the internet and this place was recommended as a best place in town to fix glasses. I popped in and it turns out one of the owners is the greeter. This is fantastic as for many small businesses the owners are nowhere to be seen. Right out of the gate he was friendly, happy, and wearing a really sharp pair of glasses (for him). I mentioned that I found them on Yelp and showed him my glasses. He was pretty sure it was an easy fix and would be done in a couple days for 10 or 15 bucks. To my enjoyment he called the very next day to say they were done. Got here a few minutes before my appointment and the place was packed. Not to mention that while I was sitting here to walk ins' came in just to check out the place. If you want a unique design and/or a unique design with color this is your place. Normally when I'm browsing around my opticians office, it's dozens of boring glasses that all look exactly the same.... gray, black, brown, charcoal gray, silver gray.... Eye Openers is exactly what their name suggests, frames that start the conversation. Frames that are in fact eye openers. And all my years on Yelp I normally wait until I have several reviews to write and then write them. Eye Openers is only the 2nd business everywhere I had such a great experience I decided to sit and write my review right now. I picked out a low priced set of glasses and they said I would have to pay $150 or so . I went to a well know place and got my glasses for free and they were a better quality .

My husband, daughter and I are all patients of Dr. Guy and all agree that he's one of the best. At my most recent appointment, Dr. I, an optometry resident, treated my five-year-old and was fabulous! He was kind and funny and treated my daughter SO well - even in the midst of her eye drop-related meltdown. The office itself is in an unsuspecting Henrietta Plaza, but the waiting room is modern and bright. Can't recommend Family Vision Center more highly.

I never received a text, email or phone call about any such cancellation. The first time this happened the new practice manager assured me she would get the situation in hand. The second time was over a year later, the practice manage was at a different office that day, and I declined to reschedule.

I went here for my yearly eye exam and was given a prescription for the wrong kind of contacts. I…read morebrought my regular brand packaging in so the doctor would know what to prescribe. I need a specific kind for my chronic dry eye or I get a protein buildup that makes it difficult to see. Not realizing the prescription error, I ordered my regular contacts (Cooper My-Day) from the online store I use. I was sent 4 boxes of a completely different kind of contact (Cooper Clariti). I was running really low on my normal kind so I had to open the new ones to try them out. I assumed maybe they were the same kind but had been repacked/rebranded? Nope--I got protein buildup almost immediately. I called the store manager Nick to discuss. The online company was able to return the unopened boxes, but the opened boxes they cannot accept. The cost of the 2 boxes is $119. I asked if Whelpley and Paul would be able to sell me contacts at a discounted price since it was their error that ultimately ended up causing the issue. Nick stated there wasn't anything they could do except offer me a few trial pairs for free that would still take 1 week to arrive in-store. They were able to correct the prescription but I am still out $119+$25 expedited shipping for the correct brand. I would not recommend giving Whelpley & Paul your business.

Dr. Lindahl answered all of my questions. He was kind and thorough. I had cataract surgery on February 26, 2026 and March 13, 2025, am seeing like I haven't in years and need no glasses. He is an excellent surgeon! The women who work with him are wonderful! I got to meet Maggie, Beth, Laura, Denise, Angie, Kim, as well as Deb and Monique at the front desk. Thanks to you all for your kindness and care! Most businesses these days are more concerned about the bottom line than the people that come to them for help. Not here! They all genuinely care about improving people's lives through helping them see the best they can. I am humbled by what you did for me and so grateful! BTW, Yelp says I live in San Francisco, CA...that's wrong! I live in the Rochester area.

We gad an appointment at 4:20pm and the desk attendant was not very helpful when we had insurance questions. I felt rushed and unheard. I know it was close to closing time but it was obvious that she was in a hurry to get out from behind the desk and ignore the customers in the waiting area. After the exam it was obvious that we wouldn't get our glasses the same day. We asked for a copy of the exam so we could go elsewhere to purchase glasses, and we were given an eye roll with our copy. We left feeling like we were ignored and a pain for scheduling a later in the day appointment.

I am very impressed and will be going here from now on for all glasses needs! There's quite a large selection in the store and I love that any frames can be made into sun glasses as well. The eye doctor didn't know how to help me with an eyesight issue and told me to talk to my PCP instead. That issue is something he should've been able to help me with, after all, he's an eye expert. Another thing, is after I was rushed through my eye exam, waiting for the prescription and while waiting in the lobby... the male optician, Gene, tried to get me to look at frames when I couldn't see a thing. My eyes were dilated and he was trying to make a sale with me. How could I buy anything, see how the frames looked on me, if I couldn't see? I just don't get this place. The receptionist, Sara can be sweet, but she hasn't always been so sweet. During the pandemic my young child was with me and she said my young child couldn't come with me to the frames area. That they had to wait out in the lobby by themselves, without me. I was furious! How could she ask me to abandon my child, leave them out there alone? Breaking her "rules" was not acceptable. They have great frames that are cool and interesting, different from other places. But if the other parts are lacking, which they are, I won't be back. It's unfortunate.
