Thanks to everyone who tuned in LIVE on 10/27/16 to watch my LASIK procedure and to support me…read morethrough it - I'd choose LASIK over having my teeth cleaned any day of the week :) I'm seeing & feeling terrific, and I'm so impressed with the team here ... more so than I've ever been. The little things no one else would even notice that they do to help patients through every stage and really walk the journey alongside of them, well, I've just not seen this type of incredible care in any other ophthalmology/LASIK practice - and I've been to hundreds of them across 3 countries in my previous job. Let me give you my professional history as it is relevant to this review: I started out as a certified ophthalmic assistant at age 22, specializing in refractive surgery with corneal doctors for about 5 yrs, and by age 27, I was hired by Bausch & Lomb to be a Clinical Applications specialist for the Northeast territory. Basically, I trained doctors, techs, and nurses how to use the excimer laser, the diagnostic equipment, and the microkeratome. But my job was often times comprehensive, in that some sites were just beginning, so I went through the whole laser suite/surgery center set up and flow from beginning to end with them, including first cases. Often sites had brand new staff who never had experience assisting or working up LASIK patients. Many times throughout our training position, myself, or other trainers around the country, were teaching from scratch. I did more than train as well: collected outcomes data, lectured at special meetings, devised and developed training tools, and worked with doctor consultants and engineering colleagues to optimize results and software. Within a couple of years, I became the National Training Manager for the USA. A couple years after that and I was promoted to the head of the Training & Clinical Applications Specialist department for North & South America. So to tell you that I've worked with a ton of LASIK practices, doctors, and techs/nurses is a giant understatement. I've had so much experience in the field with other practices that when I decided to hang up my travelling hat, I knew the only place I wanted to help manage was Dr. MacRae's practice, if they would have me :). Being the patient is completely different than managing the practice day to day, and until I experienced my evaluation, consent, and surgery from the other side, I truly couldn't appreciate the skill set each individual brings to the patient. My team literally asked me to critique them and let them know what they could have done better - not too many people can show that kind of vulnerability. And they weren't out to "impress" me, they treated me just as they would anyone else who came in for an appointment or surgery. The pressure was on the night I had my surgery with 30+ Optometrists in our office and many people at home watching live surgery, and not one person on staff faltered or blinked an eye - they all hosted a large group of doctors for a couple of hours before surgery (after being at work since 7:30am) in addition to teaching/explaining the procedure as it was happening...and they simply rose even higher in their quality of care, efficiency, and thoroughness. Would you feel nervous having surgery knowing the team had been working for 12 straight hours just prior? While we don't treat this way, this situation was the case for me! You would have thought I was the first case of the day. I've seen and heard these technicians and doctors talk and work with/treat thousands of patients in the last (almost) 4 years...being on the receiving end, well, wow, I couldn't be more proud of each and every one. I struggled to find even 1 thing to critique - outside of waiving a magic wand to fix my eyes, of course smile emoticon:) While I know no one is perfect, and don't expect perfection of anyone, including myself(!), they were darn close to it, and I know that with each patient who walks through our door, calls our office or emails us questions, I can, with 100% confidence, say this team we've assembled is unsurpassable in experience, skill, kindness, care, and heart.

The digital retinal imaging technology is really cool, but it took several attempts by a tech and then the doctor to capture full images showing my full retina & all the peripheral laser surgery scars. I have been a patient at Chili Vision Group for years - back when Dr. Baskin was there. After a…read morelong hiatus from wearing glasses (apparently your eyes can improves in your 20s and 30s), I felt the need to go back and get a bit of an updated pair of glasses. They are currently in a new location in the same plaza than they were the last time I was there... which they reported was about 6 years ago. And they purge paper files after 7 years... so I probably hadn't been there in 8 years. I had a 7am appointment, and despite arriving on time, I was in the office for nearly 1hr 10min. To me this seemed a bit long, and I wasn't thrilled with that (especially since I was the first person of the day.) But Dr. Brown was fine as a provider. The opticians that I worked with on both occasions (pick out and picking up the glasses) were pleasant and knowledgeable. I have a decent vision plan, so I lucked out with some nice Anne Klein and Bebe frames. There is definitely nothing wrong with this, but I am a little nostalgic from the days of Dr. Baskin. I didn't feel treated like a long time valuable patient/customer, but I suppose that is partly because I am not those things to this place anymore. And thinking of the future, I might consider finding another office closer to where I live now.

I have Dr. Brown now and absolutely adore her. When I needed to switch contact brands, she worked with me over the course of several weeks (and many samples) to get me exactly the right pair. Last fall, I caught a cold that manifested itself in extremely red, painfully itchy eyes. I called, thinking I had pink eye, and they got me right in. The doctor explained the problem and told me not to wear contacts for a week. Not good -- I cannot wear glasses because they give me vertigo, and I was going to Detroit to see my sister's play that weekend. The doctor paused, explained why my glasses gave me vertigo, and then found a 10-pack of daily use contacts. He told me to only wear them for a few hours when absolutely necessary. I honestly do not know what I would have done without the wonderful folks at Chili Vision! Even though I live in the city now, I will always make the 20 minute trek to stay with this wonderful team.

I will try to make this short, but thre was so much…read more First I was tild by my Option who refeffed me that it was free as my Health ins would cover Caterac surg, Which was partially true. It did not cover tge "special drops for eyes" about $100.00. Also didn't cover surgery center-$300 I went at my eye drs recommenadation. At my 3 or 4th visit Surgeon said because my astigmatism in both eyes a reg surg would not give me the result (no glasses) but for $1300 per lense I could get a toric lense (not covered by ins) implanted which corrects that.All had to be paid up front. I am retired on ssi and not a lot of extra money----but I said since I am only going to do this ONE time ok.After about a month both eyes were done With multiple eye dr appts copay is for specialist for eye drs. Anyway I did all this because I figured if no longer need flasses.... Long story short I went fo glasses my opt gave a script for driving glasses and needed reading glasses. This was not what I signed up for. I tried it-as I had no choice, but went back and told him-I could not my computer with either. Finally I went back to my optom and told I was NOT HAPPY & had to go back to Bifocals. He had a hard time fitting me and even worse his office didn't order them right for 3 trys. When I told him how unhappy I was his snwer was "Well, it; was surgery. You can't gaurantee results! i was ANGRY. I went then went to a new Opt who explained That I could see near and far but not mid range and because they put he toric lens in that will never change. He was able to fit me with bi-focals.I see ok with them. But now I had to pay exam AGAIN since my insur allowance was used. I HAD TO PAY FOR ANOTHER PAIR OF GLASSES! i KNOW THIS WILL NOT BE EVERYONES RESULT, but ask questions so hopefully you knw what you wil be getting into. I would not have gotten the"Premiuum" lenses had I known. Good luck

I had to get a new pair of glasses and Towne and country eyecare associates were highly recommended…read moreby family and friends. I now know why because they are amazing. I have had eye issues since I was in fifth grade so that means countless visits to eye doctors. This by far was the most extensive and best experience I have had. Dr. Mary Vadas and Dr. Megan Hart are excellent doctors. My young son is a patient of dr vadas and I of dr hart. The time and explanation given to my young son who was extremely nervous for his first eye exam was amazing. My son walked away excited his glasses were ordered and looked forward to picking them up. Dr Hart is just as amazing. I can be a challenge making the choice between option one and two but she was very patient with me. When explaining the options with glasses and with my contacts I definitely know she listened to me and helped me find the best choices. I would highly recommend this practice. It's off a main highway so it's easy to get to and worth the drive if you don't live locally.
