I was there yesterday to have my glasses arms tightened and I know that included with the Costco membership and I quote from their website: "Adjustments are Always Free For all your Costco and non-Costco purchased frames, we provide free adjustments in-store." So why did the Asian woman (Filipina) at the counter ask me if I had purchased the glasses at Costco? For the record, I did but...I didn't want to make a huge deal about this and then thought about it. The eye exam for my sister was just easy-breezy! I called the optical at 12:15 pm and had eye checked for glasses at 12:30 pm! Wow!!! The test lasted for 15 min. as promised. Dr Carmona is very thorough and courteous.My sister was able to catch her Bart train for Walnut Creek at 1 pm. Costco Optical in El Camino, So SF, you're amazing! The optical department number system has to be one of the worst. They have a different line to pick up orders. The representative would help those people coming in to just pick up order taking another 15-20 minutes to fit their glasses while everyone else is taking a number and getting pushed back 30 minutes at a time. If you're picking up your order and still have to be fitted or just need to have a frame or an adjustment to a glass that you have purchased earlier, everyone should be taking a number. we waited over an hour and that was just for two numbers to be picked. I walked into Dr. Hu's office this morning and was pretty stoked about her services. Comprehensive, friendly, and professional. The staff at the front desk are awesome as well, and I got my eye exam done within 30 minutes or so. I checked out the glasses and Dan helped me out. Dude had been here since 1999! Had an excellent experience at Costco Optical when I went in to pick out new glasses. Vong was the optician who assisted me in trying on glasses, measuring my current frames so I knew what sizing I should be looking for, and completing my transaction. He was really helpful and patient when I was trying on different frames. He also helped me measure my PD and looked up my insurance for me (which I didn't think would cover anything!) -- $88 off right there. And then they had a sale where it was $50 off a second pair of prescription glasses. Score! My prescription is rather high, so I bought the high index lenses. The Costco package on those lenses is excellent, since they INCLUDE the blue light blocking, the anti-glare, UV protection, and the anti-fogging, many of which you have to buy a la carte when you purchase at other shops. Ada was the optician who helped me when I picked up the glasses, and she was friendly and knew how to adjust my new frames so that they would be a comfortable fit. Also good to know: YES, I was able to use a Digital ShopCard I received when booking Costco Travel. That is super helpful because I can't stand having to keep track of those and how much is left on them. After the $88 off and the $50 off, my two pairs of prescription glasses (Jimmy Choo and Badgley Mischka frames) were $242, which was already an excellent deal. BUT, after the Digital ShopCard, they ended up $12. LITERALLY TWELVE DOLLARS. Definitely worth coming here if you need glasses. I can't speak to the optometry services because I went to a local optometrist (who was excellent). But they will take your existing prescription and run with it. read more

I came into Costco optometry office to get contact lens exam and was amazed by how quick and efficient it was. Dr. Hung made me feel welcomed and was thorough with the exam. I didn't feel rushed at all. He recommended the Optomap which was neat to see the back of my eyes. The staff at the front desk were pleasant and was able to get me in and out. Dr. Hung and office staff were friendly, professional, quick, and efficient. I made an appointment for an eye exam and contact lens fitting, and that was what I got. They were not pushy, like I had previously experienced at other optometry offices in the past. We have been going to Costco SFO for years. But we recently found out Costco SFO took over this office. Since this office is closer, we came here to try it out. When we got to the office, the team was incredibly nice and patient. The checkup went fast and smoothly. They even took a closer look at my retinas because of my high prescription and I was able to learn more about some of the new technology they have available. Went to do some groceries, saw some glasses I really liked but my prescription had expired. Went over to the optometry office; the staff was very friendly and I was able to come in as a walk in. Dr. Dao was very friendly and did a great job on my exam. Went to get my glasses, the optical staff is very patient and friendly. I even got my glasses before the estimated time! They double booked my reservation. They told me they tried to contact me but I did not pick up the phone. But they still send me the reminder text to me in the morning, which let me find out the double booking situation after I waited 20min. for other patient. What they can only do is telling me very sorry and booking another reservation, which wont let me cancel for 48 hours before the reservation. If I cancel, they will charge 40$. Why not customers just can say very sorry to them, but there is nothing I can do? Why don't they try to credit me 40$ to me for the new reservation? Why their time is so precious but not mine? I won't use their service. I hate this kind of mindset, people do not value customer's time. read more

The review is not for Costco but for the independent doctor that is in there. We have an appointment and we have to wait for almost an hour for the doctor. When I confronted the receptionist, she said they did not double booked the appointment. If that is the case, they have a big problem with their appointment system. Not recommended. Totally BS. Wasted of time. Why do you require an appointment when you guys can't keep up. Just let people walk in and wait, there is no difference. read more

I'm the second person to leave a review for Costco optical, and same as the first person to drop a review, huge shoutout to Dan. He is a 5 star employee for sure, and celebrating his 20 years with Costco this year. He's a strong multi tasker, being able to help me and other guests simultaneously without making any of us feel like we're 2nd place, he treats everyone equally and pays high attention to detail. He helped me narrow down the glasses I want based off what I told him I like, he has excellent knowledge on the products, and top notch professionalism mixed with humor. Never thought buying a pair of glasses could be so smooth. It is upsetting however that you cannot buy contact lenses from them without getting a specific prescription for that lens. For example, I have a valid prescription and it shows my exact details for the contacts I need, and I can easily buy contacts anywhere else in store or online by just telling them the information, but with costco optical, they only sell you the contact lens based off the name that the optometrist recommended. In my case, they will only sell me Acuvye Oasys biweekly lens, and will not let me purchase a daily disposable version of the exact same prescription. It is also very difficult to book an eye exam, so I advise getting that done elsewhere. read more

The two stars is for the young lady who helped me purchase my new glasses. Its a low rating because of the lady who was rude and has the worst customer service ever, her name is LOLITA. I picked up my glasses super excited and she ruined my vibe. The nose piece on the glasses was clearly not aligned, she actually blamed it on my flat nose, she said its already sitting on your nose flat. I was calm and polite, because shes a filipino lady and we were taught manners. I calmy said its uncomfortable, i can clearly see the other nose piece is higher than the other nose piece and she kept telling me thats how it is, its perfect! Dont look at it that way you have to focus on how it fits on your nose. She kept adjusting, i was giving her chances to fix it, but she kept blaming it on me that i am not seeing it and feeling it correctly. i have been wearing glassses with nose pieces all my life, its the only ones that work on me and I know how they should look and feel. But you know what, she was raising her voice to me and making me look like There was something wrong with me. I just left, I had a long day at school so i did not have the energy to tell her what to do so I fixed the nose piece by myself inside my car pushed it a little lower which took me 2 secs, then there the new glasses feels comfortable. its just not fair for the other people who takes good care of other customers there and one person is giving a wack job of customer service. read more

I usually have good experience with these people but this recent experience was different. I called yesterday at 2pm to ask them to order contacts for me. I need contacts for my daughter for this weekend's tournament. I was told that it was already past 12 and they would not be able to take my rush order. I have to call back before 12 the day after. I wrangled with that statement trying to figure out why the person would not take my rush order for fulfilment the next day. The person said that if they placed the order at that time, then my order would just be made with standard shipping, so I waited 'til the next day. I called at 11:10 and have clearly explained to the girl who got the call that I called the day before but was told to call the next day before 12 for my rush order. The girl put me on hold and I waited for 30min. I was starting to worry that call was already buried when my call that was put on hold was picked, up at 11:40. The guy told me that they are busy and it would be faster for me to order through the Costco website. He explained that rather than having the item be sent to Costco, it would be sent straight to our house and that would make it even more faster. I went to the website to shop. I did see from the beginning of the order session that delivery would be 5-7 business days was hoping that the person would be correct and that there would be a rush option on the shipping later on in the session but there wasn't. I still placed the order hoping that I could call customer service to upgrade the shipping method. When I called the Costco optical back at 12:20, I identified myself that I was the guy who called earlier. The guy recognized me and all of a sudden, he had time to entertain my call. (He did not listen to me when earlier I said that I called the day before and was told to call today before 12, which I did.) He looked up my daughter's prescription and said that they were special lenses that they definitely have to order; however, for rush orders, I would have to wait the following day. I was beginning to sound frustrated by this time. I asked him if he could upgrade the shipping method for my order and he said that they do not have any control over web orders. He recommended me to contact the customer service for web orders. I did what he said, but again, customer service for web orders told me that they have no control over contact lens orders. I'm feeling helpless at this point thinking that I have missed the window of time that I needed to secure contacts for my daughter for the event when she would need it. read more
