The Doctor was so sweet, patient and thoroughly examined my little one's eyes. I was impressed with her skills and attention to detail. The office was super clean and modern. Parking was easy and free which is always nice. My daughter left picking up the cutest little Ray bands for her first pair of prescription glasses. Will be ready for pick up in about 10 days, so my girlie will have new clearer vision soon. Staff was also super helpful and courteous during our appointment. Highly recommend checking them out.

My wife and my son came here for their appointments. Dr. Leung was very kind and gave my wife tips on how to take care of her eyes. The receptionist, Ruth was very patient and nice. She explained the insurance deductibles for different selections of the frames and types of lenses that they offered. We were told that the glasses will be ready in about two to three weeks. However, to our surprise that the glasses were ready in one week. We had a pleasant experience with Dr. Leung and Ruth. We really liked how Ruth was upfront with all the deductibles and prices. My wife and son will be coming here for their glasses from now on.

The glowing reviews led me here and I can happily confirm that they're all spot on! I was able to book an appointment for a standard eye check-up quickly, and as a first time patient, I felt welcomed the moment I walked in. The team was friendly, efficient, and made the whole process easy. Dr. Torio was amazing - incredibly kind, super knowledgeable, and took the time to answer all of my (many) questions. He explained each step of the exam in a clear, reassuring way and he made sure to perform a very thorough eye exam. I felt very comfortable the entire time. Safe to say, I'll be coming back here for all future check-ups!

They have such great knowledge and expertise, friendly staff, and they really treat each patient well. I usually only come here for an annual eye exam and Dr. Torio is equipped with not only the standard equipment but also this fancy camera that takes retina images. I usually ask for a copy of my prescription so that I can order glasses online, not to say they dont have great options in-house, I just prefer having more options elsewhere. They never try to pressure me to buy anything which I appreciate. I highly recommend them if youre looking for an optometrist! Parking can be tough since it's in downtown SSF so you only have metered parking lots or street parking.

Working from home all pandemic, I knew I had to get that done once it was safe again. This was the closest place to my house so I decided to give this place a try. COVID precautions - They clean the office/equipment after every patient. Required to wash hands upon arrival. Hand sanitizer available. In my short time at the office, I've grown to feel really comfortable with Christine, the receptionist/assistant. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. The exam with Dr. Eng was as I expected it. His equipment is old-fashioned, but if it still works, I don't see a problem with it. Dr. Eng is friendly, professional, and super patient. I never felt like he was rushing me out to get to his next appt. He spent a solid few minutes to get to know me, my work situation, and my concerns. He asked about contact-wearing and I never wanted to wear contacts. I let him know and he definitely didn't hard-sell me. I could just feel that Dr. Eng is passionate about his profession and really cares about his patients. Overall, I felt safe in his care and would definitely go back for my next checkup.

We've come here a few times over the years and have always had a positive experience. You generally…read moreneed to make an appointment, though I believe they do walk-ups if they have availability. This is an "Independent Doctor of Optometry", that happens to be located inside Costco. They charge $90 for an eyeglasses exam, and $120 for the glasses and contacts. Some insurances cover eye care, though the pricing seems reasonable even if paying out-of-pocket. Even with insurance, there may be a co-pay, specifically for contacts. There is also an additional option that can be done during your exam, which is called "optomap". The optomap is basically an ultra-widefield image of your retina that they use to help detect eye and other diseases. It costs $60, and is NOT covered by insurance. We did them during our last visit in April 2023, as it was the first we had heard about it. We were undecided if we wanted to do it again during our recent visit, though they mentioned we could do our normal exam and see if the doctor recommends it based on the results. Once you check-in and are ready, the whole process is pretty quick and painless (literally and figuratively). They ask you to wear a mask (provided) as you approach the first machine in the main room. You line your head and chin up to the machine and look normally. There is an image that is initially blurry, then adjusts to be clear based on how your eye sees it. After that, they blow small puffs of air into each eye; this is my least favorite part. This whole process only takes a few minutes, then they call you into the room to chat with the actual doctor. This is where they sit you in the more official chair and slide over the bigger machine. They show you a line of letters and ask you the ever-famous "better 1 or better 2". After that they see if you can read the line of letters, similar to at the DMV. This is how they determine your prescription. I had to pull my mask down for this as the lens kept getting fogged up. The last step is looking into your eyes with a light and what looks to be some sort of magnifying machine. After all was said and done, she determined that my prescription had not changed from my last visit nearly two years ago. She also said everything looked good and healthy, meaning I did not need to do the optomap this time around. Overall I definitely recommend this Costco optometry location. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and everything was efficient and seamless. We checked in a little early, and I was finished before the actual time of my scheduled appointment. My partner was with the doctor for a bit longer, as she also has contacts. Once you're done and have your prescription, there is a huge area right next door with hundreds of glasses to browse. Thanks again, see you in a couple years!

Worst eye doctor I have ever had…read more Dr. Martin was rude and defensive throughout my appointment. I came in because my new prescription was too weak for my first eye exam at the Foster City location which resulted in an incorrect prescription, so I decided to try the Airport Boulevard location instead. I was experiencing blurry vision while walking around the house and when driving. At this point I go to South San Francisco Costco for my second attempt at getting the correct prescription from Costco. Dr. Martin is the doctor there. When I explained that my vision was still blurry and asked if my prescription could be increased, Dr. Martin repeatedly argued that there was no need to make any changes. After several minutes of discussion, he finally agreed to increase the prescription slightly. Unfortunately, when I received my new glasses, my left eye was clear, but my right eye was still noticeably blurry. I ended up having to return a third time, this time to the Foster City location, hoping they could finally correct my prescription. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience. I felt dismissed when I raised concerns about my vision, and I expected my symptoms to be taken more seriously. If you are a woman you know how it feels to be dismissed by a man that thinks they know more than you. That is exactly how it was. My third time taking the exam at Foster City this time. I went with my dad. So they can finally listen to my concerns. Maybe a male presence might change something. They are so bad at their job. Don't go to any costco for an Eye exam.
