Excellent doctor & salesperson at this location. I saw Dr. Li and he was patient and answered all my questions. I felt very comfortable and thought the exam was thorough. The office and equipment was clean and modern. The receptionist was friendly. I got the extra retina photo and thought it was worth it. The doctor showed the photo and explained what everything was and showed a little video. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would go back. The salesperson was great too. I was helped by Ann who assisted choosing frames and lenses. I was impressed by the precise measuring and adjustments she made to make sure the glasses were perfect. I came down to Costco in Milford (2) Saturdays in a row from Guilford to get an eye exam. The first time I came in off the street I expected an exam without delay. (UPDATE) I got my eyes done at a momma & Poppa optometrists business. I got the script and got glasses through Zenni.com it was fast and they are just what I was in need of. For (4) pairs of glasses for $310 dollars. The measurements needed were just (1) measurement needed. It was fast, easy, and quite affordable. I strongly suggest others buy their glasses online. Went to get my eyes checked by the optometrist at Westbury Optical located inside Costco. Dr. B did the standard eye exam. When I mentioned that I had focusing issues (the main reason I came in) he offered no solution, just said my vision test was good. Be aware that Costco doesn't take EyeMed or other insurances so I had to pay $70 cash just for the basic eyeglass exam, dilation extra. (Mea culpa, I should have checked their insurance coverage before going in so this is FYI). Then on to the optical department which was super crowded even on a weekday morning. Took a number, waited for 30 minutes and then politely asked a clerk about the expected wait time. She just rolled her eyes and didn't answer me. Costco doesn't have a great frame selection for women and nothing on the racks caught my eye so I left. Now I have to go to another optometrist for my focusing issue and get glasses elsewhere. I love Costco but their optical department didn't measure up. read more

I have never been as impressed before until evaluated by Dr. li. His thoroughness and knowledge cannot be matched. He told me more about my eyes on than renowned ophthalmologists he hat I have seen since th age of 4. Citing research on lazy eyes he told m that even at my ripe age of 70 there is still hope to enhance my vision with exercises. He found that its potential is 20/20. I felt astounded. CAUTION AVOID!!!!!!!! Given wrong contacts and wrong prescription. After three visits, I requested my money back. I was told that I would receive my money back. After three hours in costco, I was told that I would only get a refund if I signed a letter that Lelonek's lawyer had prepared. The store manager of Costco felt bad for me and gave me a refund to "make me whole". When I requested my medical records, the were altered. All mistakes were crossed out. AVOID!!! read more

Dr. Friedland is the best optometrist I have ever been to. His exam was so thorough and he patiently tested my eyes until we found the right pair of contacts. I have an astigmatism in one eye but he tried to give me all the options possible. He is a kind, knowledgeable, compassionate practitioner who really cares for his patients vision and takes time with them. I would definitely go to him again. Thank you for your service! read more

Several things went wrong during my visit. I saw the female doctor rather than Dr. Lelonek. Before I continue, I'll give a generalized history of eye health. A few years back I got an allergic reaction to Acuvue Oasys. I didn't know it at the time; I simply went to the doctor with photosensitivity and conjunctivitis. He told me I had giant papillary conjunctivitis (often a side effect of wearing contacts too much), and to stop wearing contacts for a few months while also using the drops he prescribed. I did as such, and months later was excited to put the contacts back in. I instantly got an allergic reaction and saw a second doctor. He informed me I was simply allergic to contact lenses and gave me steroid drops--I asked him if perhaps there was an alternative lens I could use. He informed me (this doctor wasn't great either and evidently not caught up in medical literature) that there was no such thing as being allergic to just one type of lens; if you were allergic to one kind, you were allergic to them all. I was very doubtful of this advice and so I ran an experiment. I had some Acuvue 2 colored lenses from a while back; I put them in, no reaction. I put the Oasys lenses in, instant reaction. It was fairly obvious what was going on. Fast forward to needing new glasses and an updated contacts prescription. I told her I needed Acuvue 2 instead of Oasys and she asked me why; I gave her the reason. She told me such an allergy didn't exist; I explained to her that I had seen several doctors about this and each one didn't solve the reaction issue, but Acuvue 2 did. She then accused me of lying and told me the reason I hopped around with doctors was because I wasn't happy with the diagnoses they gave me, entirely disregarding the fact I was perfectly fine with Acuvue 2. And the reason I had seen different doctors was because I attended school in one city and the other was a specialist in my hometown. Accusing your patient of being wrong, disregarding their patient history, and cutting them off from telling the rest of it is NOT good bedside manner. She then discovered I had GPC. At this point she was convinced the reason I had reactions to Acuvue Oasys was because I wore my contacts far too much and didn't clean them properly. She asked me if I rubbed them before and after washing. I said no and was about to explain the packaging said it was no-rub unless your physician directs you to, which mine had not, but she literally "tch'd" me as if I were an impertinent teenager and cut me off without letting me explain my habits as a patient. Again, not interested in patient history. She then proceeded to explain to me that I would experience hypervascularization due to my eyes suffocating and go blind if I kept wearing contacts, the way some young patient she had did. I understand the ramifications, but scare tactics were not the way to go here. Hence I left being told not to wear contacts anymore. The glasses I received were also not optimized to my nose bridge and kept falling off whenever I tilted my head downward, so that wasn't great. This would all be fine if the doctor was right, despite not taking adequate patient history or listening to her patient. But Acuvue Oasys allergies are real. When, several months later, I explained my situation to another doctor who personally knew Dr. Lelonek, he told me about recent medical literature documenting this allergy and that GPCs were a side effect of the allergy as well. He was surprised when I told him I was informed that this wasn't true at Dr. Lelonek's office, until I informed him it was a different doctor who worked there that told me that. Evidently she wasn't keeping up with reading the latest medical literature in her field. Since then, I've moved around quite a bit, and each doctor I've seen in each city is completely unsurprised when I tell them of the Oasys allergy. Being involved in research myself, I've even had the papers at hand to present just in case I was accused of lying again (fortunately never had to present them). Anyway, if you're going to see an eye doctor at Dr. Lelonek's office, don't see her. read more

So I had my eyes checked at with a doctor and came here with my prescription for glasses. There were a few customers just waking around looking at the glasses but it wasn't busy. I had grabbed the number one ticket. Once I found the glasses I wanted, I went up to the counter when one lady was not with any customers, we asked if they were calling ticket numbers and she replied "yes we are!" Where I responded great! So I waited right at the counter clearly looking ready with the number one ticket in my hand. She proceeds to turn around and walk up to a customer that was just looking at the glasses and help her not even calling a number. Kind of annoying but in reality it ended up working out because we got to working with Colleen who was an absolute sweet heart! She knew her stuff, was funny and made the process so much better! One star. I am disgusted . Dr. Christine Tam had checked my eyes for eye contacts and told me if i wasnt happy with them, i could go to ANY costco and get my old pair prescription. After a few days of headaches from the eye contacts Dr. Tam assigned, i decided to go to the old prescriptions. I called the office and they said she "forgot" to write down my prescription. I have tried to talk to the useless women who work at the desk and they didnt know what to say or what to do and were not able to contact Dr. Tam as she is part time (barely works there). I am embarrassed that costco could even allow this optometrist and these women to work in their facility. read more

I went to Costco for my prescription sunglasses after having an eye exam and getting new primary glasses at the Vision World in Farmingdale. The prescription that Vision World gave me to take to Costco was wrong - twice. Twice Costco made me glasses to Vision World's specs and twice the glasses were unwearable. So they tested my glasses. The Rx that Vision World wrote down was inaccurate. Honest mistake? Twice? I don't think so. I ended up getting a new exam at Costco, where they have an optometrist on site. Bottom Line: I wear progressive lenses. The Costco glasses are superior because the placement of the prescription fade in the lens is actually better so its easier to read; the Costco glasses COST LESS than the Vision World glasses did even WITH INSURANCE applied, and Costco did not charge me anything for the two sets of glasses that were made incorrectly due to Vision World providing an inaccurate written prescription. Costco does not accept insurance but in the end, the Costco glasses cost me less money that the ones I got through insurance at Vision World. I found the customer service to be very good. There is a wait but that is to be expected. I will be going to Costco for glasses from now on. read more

This review is for Costco's Optometry Department Brooklyn. I took my own frames there as I have done in the past. I received a call informing me that the lab had rejected my frames. I asked why and was told the lab does not give reasons. Okay, fine. Pick them up, went home then discovered they had broken the frames and GLUED them back together. Really?! read more

While Costoc's lenses are reasonable in price and among the top-rated in terms of quality, its customer service is a problem. The department refuses, absolutely refuses to pick up the telephone when you call. The Costco mangers are unable to get them to pick up their telephone. It is either incompetence on everyone's part or epic arrogance on the optometry department's part. Why should you have to make a personal appearance, contend with parking, and an overcrowded area during your lunch hour to get a simple question answered? UNREAL. read more

The optical section is disorganized esp. on Sundays. They offer a pick a number system yet penalize you if you miss your number being called inaudibly. There is no speaker that says your number clearly. Hopefully you can hear the optician calling your number or else they continue to make you wait. Also the display showing the numbers do not coincide with the number being called. The reasonable cost is the only reason to shop here. They do their jobs but there's no customer care. read more

Had to call back about 5-6 times because line wasn't going through, and representatives told me that they couldnt take my call right now because of in-person queue. Finally got through only to have the lady hang up on me mid-sentence when I was confirming that I could expect my contact order in 1 week ....... horrendous service. I was helped by a great lady named Colleen finding a pair of glasses. I placed the order and came back within 3 days when they were ready. I picked them up and the guy (I think his name was Todd) who helped me was too busy helping his friend in between me. He tried fixing my glasses to fit me and I said repeatedly they are falling down. HE BENT THE LEFT ARM OUTWARDS. I said they are still loose. He said they're fine (i'm the one wearing them excuse me!). They were literally sliding down my nose. Then I said these lenses are giving me a fish eye feel and very curved at the sides. He didn't understand me. So I explained it again. He said so you can't see? I said no...can you please see if these could be adjusted? So he heated them up and bent them. He checked my prescription as well and claimed they were correct. As all this was happening he was having a convo with the girl behind me (his friend). He had no patience and kept telling me to see my actual eye doctor. Now mind you, I worked for an eyewear company and he absolutely did not handle the frames properly and my own eye doctor told me he bent them all out of shape awfully. The woman who originally assisted me wasn't there that day and everyone else was assisting customers. I was so fed up I took the glasses and left and had to schedule an appointment with my own doctor. I called Costco later to complain and they just said "ok so return them". WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THAT?! So now I will be returning today and I already purchased new ones from my eye doctor. Never again will I use Westbury Costco Optical. read more
