As nice as any Costco I've been to, but almost the busiest (check out Hawaii Costcos pre-hurricanes). I had to park around the side almost in the last and farthest parking stall. The place was jamming. It was likely an optical illusion, but this store felt bigger than others I've been to. Well maintained, and stocked out quite nicely, the biggest issue was navigating the inside traffic. People simply forget the 'stay to the right' rule when navigating shopping aisles. On a road trip and forgot my shades at home. No worries, I'll stop off at Costco to pick up some nice ray bans, then gift them to my daughter when I get back home. Alas, Joyce and a few of her cohorts in the optical department blatantly ignored me and when I politely asked if I could just buy these and be on my way, Joyce lied right in my face, claiming to be helping TWO customers. The truth was that Joyce was regaling an acquaintance with stories about her piglets and all of the excitement of running a pig farm and helping zero customers. The guy she was talking to turned to me twice during his convo with her to assure me he wasn't buying anything and was just wasting time. Costco has been a Saturday tradition for our family. We look foreword to our short time there of sample hunting and filling the cart up with containers of food that takes all month or longer to go through. For us, Costco is just another place we shop for stuff in general. Where it really shines though is the food court and fuel pumps. Where else in Yakima can a family of 6 be filled up on 3 hotdogs, 6?sodas, and a very large pepperoni pizza for under 20.00? Where else in Yakima is the price of fuel almost 40-50 cents a gallon cheaper? To top the price of eating and savings of fuel off, there's the Costco Citibank card that pays cash back at the end of year in the form of a check that is redeemable at Costco towards a purchase. We love this place and look forward to many more Saturdays here. read more

I showed up right when they opened at 10 AM and even though the line went around the building to the back it only took 30 minutes to get in and get out with what I needed. The staff were great and very well prepared. They were out front with stacks of essential items to help load them into your cart as you walked by. This Costco just outside of Yakima is great. It's busy like they almost always are with all of the regular services - gas, tire center, eye center, pharmacy, etc. My husband and I came with a friend and she said she always has to buy a hot dog and soda when she's here. They are big hot dogs and still just $1.50 for both. It's been voted as the best hot dog in America by Business Insider and is a steal of a deal. My husband likes the berry smoothie. We have the executive membership which gives you 2% back on all purchases in a year, up to $750. We use it to pay for the $110 membership fee, so in essence we pay nothing for our membership fee, plus free groceries or whatever else we want when we are there. We also have the Costco Visa and get cash back on that too. Their gas is really great and priced lower than any other competitor except the cheap junk that you don't want in your vehicle anyway. read more

Costco is AWESOME! If you aren't aren't familiar with Costco, you should know that you must have a membership to shop here. Memberships vary between $55-$110 per year. What does that fee include? Free samples, great prices (including gas), and unparalleled customer service! Items are typically sold in bulk, but the unit price is usually a lot cheaper than smaller amounts at box stores such as target or Walmart (not always!). First off, you can get a huge hot dog and drink for $1.50 here! It's the best value anywhere! The other food court options are also good, but nothing compares to the dog and drink for $1.50! Costco typically has only 1-2 choices of each product and it's typically in bulk amounts. If you are singe and don't eat much - this probably isn't your ideal place to shop for groceries. If you've got a household of growing boys, you need to shop here! Costco Gas is also much cheaper than most gas stations. It's open from 6am-9:30pm Mon-Fri. On the weekends, it's open from 7am-7pm! You must have a membership card to use it. As for credit cards, they only accept American Express (although this is changing to Visa in April of 2016!). You can used your debit card or costco gift card. Overall, this place rocks! Their return policy is awesome and the staff is always friendly/professional. Dearest Costco. We're so glad to make your acquaintance again! I can't believe that Costco isn't getting more love from the Yelp crowd! After living in the midwest and not having a Costco nearby for a few years, we realized what we were missing and vowed to never be without Costco again! The Yakima Costco is standard in size and excellent in quality - as most are! The $110 per year for an executive membership gets you 2% back on all purchases and some major street cred. Unlike our Iowa City stop, they don't have indoor parking, but unlike Iowa City, the temp isn't -30 in the winter! The parking situation here is quality, with tons of space for any and all enthusiasts. Inside, they've got everything you expect from Costco - plenty of delightful samples, helpful folks, prime grade meat and a good selection of beer and wine. At present, about 80% of my clothes, accessories, electronics are from Costco, and a good portion of our food each week is from there as well. While they certainly sell in bulk, the quality of what they offer is so much higher than other big box stores. We've always found that you buy something here and you end up getting a couple levels up from what you'd pay for at other stores. Combine that with a $1.50 hot dog and drink, and you've got a recipe for awesomeness! Fact: If we ever become homeless, our first $55 is going to be for a Costco membership so we've always got a place to hang and get samples! read more

I was exhausted after work, but needed a few things from Costco, I grabbed what I needed and a bunch of stuff I didn't ‍ I couldn't seem to find my pretzels with peanut butter in the middle , after finally giving up I went to check out. Of course they asked me if I found everything I needed at the cash register, so I asked them about my pretzels. I kid you not, this young man ran through the store to find my pretzels, he even tried once, came back and when another amazing Costco employee told him they where way in the back by the chips he ran to get them for me. Costco is Amazing (Costco shoppers? I'm on the fence!) I love Costco. Pretty much everything they sell has been curated to the point that you don't even need to think twice about it. They've checked it out and it's good stuff for a good price. If it doesn't sell very well and you like it, you better snap it up quick because they'll dump it. It's really tough to beat the prices at Costco. They also carry things that you can't find anywhere else even close to that price! And when they put it in the coupon book, it's even more unbelievable. Living in rural America, we'd probably starve without Costco and it's worth the 150 mile round-trip to Costco. This Union Gap Costco has wonderful staff. They are all amazing. Shopping here isn't always fun, however. Weekends, oh man. Be prepared. Rules of the road people: drive your cart on the right, pull over if you're going to stop. Find ANYWHERE else but the middle of the aisle to chit-chat with your friends. This place is a madhouse. Frustrating and congested, it's still worth the effort. Costco, please build another warehouse in the PNW. How about The Dalles? We usually visit Costco once or twice a month. Before the holidays we were in there every two weeks or so. The first time we visited before the holidays in November I noticed that employees were handling everyone's groceries during the pandemic meaning they would unload your cart for you and then for the guy behind you and for the guy behind him and him and him without washing their hands. Not acceptable during the Covid pandemic. When I got to the checkout the gentleman started grabbing things out of my cart and I said "no thank you I've got this". I then brought it to the attention of the customer service counter that I did not appreciate them handling all my stuff after they've handled numerous other peoples things without washing their hands. They seemed bothered. The next time I went to Costco the same exact thing happened. I was so frustrated that I called the department of health. The department of health said that they would send an inspector out to see what was going on. Then low and behold the beginning of January Costco had over 56 employees come down with Covid! Big surprise! And to top it off the newspaper reported that the department of health said they were going by all necessary guidelines. Total BS! read more

Usually I love this Costco. It's been one of my favorite places to shop for years. I have always been impressed with their products and employees. However, today I had an extremely disappointing experience with Mary Lee in customer service. I was with a couple members of my family and went up to the booth to ask a question. She was rude, condescending, and made all of us feel like we were being talked down to. I left feeling like I was an inconvenience to her. I was so flustered and upset by her tone and behavior that I felt like I couldn't manage any words to stand up for myself, but because of how she treated me, I am reluctant to shop there again and I will certainly avoid dealing with her. My family, sisters, brothers, parents and friends have always gone to Costco for their quality pork ribs. After last night and after the poor customer service I received today I will not hesitate to purchase elsewhere. When I called to get assistance last night the phone rang and rang. Same with this morning. Finally after the 5th call I was transferred three times. Now I'm not an angry person was just looking for help. I have never been a Costco fan though my husband is which is why we still have a membership. You have to show your card going in, show your card at check out, and then show your receipt upon leaving. It feels like they are desperately looking for shoplifters. And if they have a product you truly like, it isn't in the store long before they remove it completely. That can be anything from a favorite snack item to a kitchen appliance. Parking is also an issue, especially for those like myself who are handicapped. The spaces are sometimes taken by those who are not handicapped, and it is worse on really busy days. I would rather shop elsewhere, where there is ample parking, less crowds and I don't have to feel like the Gestapo is breathing down my neck. read more

today I had a terrible experience being here I try to go to the food court to grab something to eat really quick I tried to go in through the exit because I did not have my card with me I tried to explain to the gentleman that I don't have my card with me but he kept insisting that I needed to have my card in order to enter the store I tried to explain to him that that is not required but he was very pushy and insisting that I needed to get a temporary card at if I need if I wanted to come into the store so I waited in line for a while but I got frustrated and decided to leave because I thought this was ridiculous knowing that you do not need your car to go to the food court I did not have it with me I was out of town did not have time to be waiting in line all day just to get a temporary card for something that you do not need your membership card with you I have seen this in the past year I would not recommend dealing with some of the employees here they seem to not know their own rules sometimes. I have seen this happen a few times before two other people first time it's happened to me I do not have this issue in Kennewick don't know why the Yakima is having this issue. read more

Costco is my least favorite store. They don't mark their items very good as far as a limit on how many you can get. I don't think their customer service desk is very friendly. You really have to look at expiration dates on their vegetables most times their lettuce has already expired. It may be cheap but not if you are throwing away most of it. Sometimes it is so congested and the lines are so long and they only have a few checkouts opened. Frustrating! Seriously when they ask you if you want a box, no I want to carry into my house one item at a time. On a positive note... I love the Costco brand, they are my main grocery store. I have a system that is heavily relied on by Costco and the Kirkland brand as well. This Costco however is just an Average Costco. And yes Costco's are different. The one in Maryland was way nicer and had more verity of unique products. But then again this is Yakima and variety and cultures are not a dense as Maryland so they offer less unique selections. But I tell you this without Costco I don't know how I would deal with this town. Costco saved the day. read more

This particular costco is often out of stock on staple items. Also some of the employees are very rude and act like you are an inconvenience to them. We have often had employees bump our cart as we are waiting in line to check out so they can cut through the line. No apologies or even an acknowledgement that you are even there. There has been a few times we have spent time waiting in line only for the register to close as soon as we got up there. Definitely need customer service training. read more
