I love Costco, it is my go-to store for countless reasons...mostly because I can buy my babies a lot of berries! Costco offers high quality products, both name brands and their name brand as well. The staff is so nice and always helpful in general! My family used to go back to Price Club back in the day, and I remember when Costco took that company. Costco has everything you could want, even if they have big packages of what you want. Who doesn't want 24 cans of tuna fish? All jokes aside, I go here weekly for fresh fruit and milk for by growing toddlers. It helps that I live a few blocks away, and we like to get pizza slices for our kids when we don't want to cook dinner. To my surprise, going to Costco on a weekend after 6 PM wasn't too bad at all. Parking wasn't nearly as horrible as I expected, and we were able to find plenty of empty spots pretty quickly. Don't get me wrong, the store was still packed and full of people, but the overall experience was much easier than I thought it would be for a weekend. As per the usual, I found a bunch of great things during this trip. Some of the highlights were the Nutella Ice Cream Cones, Prawn Crackers, Motor City Frozen Pizza, and of course our favorite Costco dessert, the Tuxedo Cake. This Costco deserves more than 5 stars! It's a bit busier than I'm used to at my regular Costco in Napa. However, this is the biggest Costco I've ever been in. And I have been to 10 Costco's. There was more of everything. In every section of the store, I noticed items that I had never seen at any other Costco . It's a bit of a drive for me to show up here. But it might be worth it just to get the rare items at the usual economic, Costco price. In spite of the crowds, checkout was relatively easy. I didn't experience a longer wait than other Costco's. It's been a long day and I was hoping to pick up something to eat in the food court. This is the one place where the line was through the roof. My tires have already arrived, but I've called many times trying to make an appointment for installation and the customer service has been very difficult to reach. What can I say? It's definitely the heart of bulk and wholesale shopping at its finest in the heart of Contra Costa County. This location is as big as it can get, just don't let the parking jihad give you bad vibes. It can be painful & sometimes stressful traversing to get here (whether on Detroit, Galindo, Meadow Lane, Monument or Oak Grove), but once you arrive & snag a parking spot, you know you're in for a treat! Did I mention the free samples along the food/grocery aisles? As well as the courteous and friendly service that these associates are known for? The best times to go are during the mornings once it opens, but going on a weekday would always the best option when braving this Costco. You can be in and out, or you can stroll up and down the aisles at your leisure. Make sure to read those flyers they mail out so you know what's on sale! What's even better is that they are renovating & reconfiguring the gas station by adding more gas pumps, so that there would seldom be a wait. Pro-tip is definitely park towards the back side of the store. It can be easier getting a parking spot within the far corners of the store, just be sure you know it will be a trek to get back to your car while pushing that big load of a cart! With the $1.50 hot dog and soda deal, you definitely can't go wrong with a Costco run! Highly recommended for those within the Concord-Martinez-Pleasant Hill-Walnut Creek metro! read more

Tire center = weak! My first tire appointment they estimated an hour, but then they forgot to call/text me when they were done so I waited over 2 hours, some of it for no reason! My keys just sitting in a drawer when I check to see what's up. The heck. Second car tire appointment.. they estimate about 1h30m total but the work on my car didn't Start until about 1h45min after, and ultimately took 2h50min from the time I dropped it off. Sheesh! I understand things get busy, or short staff, and walk-ins for flats and etc, but dang I had higher hopes! Btw Josh was a kind and patient helper; he was apologetic to me and seemingly many others who were expressing different frustrations. FYI order your tires and schedule appointments in person at the warehouse, not online. You get faster tire shipping and earlier appointment availability than what's shown online for some reason. I like this branch very much, but I also hate this deli because every time the pizza and hot dogs I get are not hot, I really don't understand how the deli in this branch operates, this is a very busy branch, the food should be very fresh, sorry every time the food I get is warm, not hot fresh, this makes me very disappointed! The manager of this deli department should be fired! I have been to many branches and several are excellent deli departments! For example, the branch is in Fremont, this deli department is the best among the Bay Area branches, both pizza and hot dogs are the hottest for customers! Sales abound after the New Year. This Costco was crowded in the late afternoon. There is a food court with the usual Costco food options. This Costco still sold churros. No chocolate chip cookies yet. Restrooms are in need of clean up here. Self serve lines move pretty fast. Value is determined by you! I spied many items I liked but did not need. read more

Zero stars today. I was standing in line holding 3 small items (2 tops and cereal). I chatted with the lady in front of me whose dad was in the next line with a few things. Told him to come in front of her in our line. I had no problem with that. She joked that they had a contest between them for the fastest line. Again no problem. Then after a few minutes standing with a couple people behind me this lady with another lady and young boy told me SHE was behind the lady I chatted with but she was getting your cart items auto scanned. I left the line and was going to put my 3 items back but got in line next to the first line. The dad and the previous lady finished. There was still a short gap for the 2 ladies and boy getting all of their items scanned in their jam packed cart. My recommendation to the auto scanners don't do a cart that has too many items. Since it is hard to scan everything and Costco runs the risk of some items going by free without getting scanned. So disappointed inCostco and miss the old days when clothes came in a plastic bag. Seems like a lot of the people who are working for Costco have been through some bad stuff. They take this stuff out on their customers. The managers are very willing to "refund your membership". Rather than hearing about the incident. Buy a gift card it's a great price. Stand there for 10 minutes while the employee "chats" and when you ask if someone can help you, they give you attitude. It's as if you are annoying them by purchasing the gift card. BUT there is no other real choice and they know it. Drove up to the Bay for the holidays and took my car to my mechanic. My Costco (interstate) car battery was leaking acid so I had the mechanic replace it, the battery is a year and 3 weeks old...definitely covered under by the warranty. I purchased the battery at a Costco in LA. Anyways, I brought my receipt and battery, the worker wouldn't honor the warranty and refund my money since my LA purchase wasn't listed on his monitor. Simply said there was nothing he could do...wouldn't even take the battery to recycle it. Did I mention I had my receipt?! You get what you pay for, this was the first car battery I purchased from Costco and it'll be the last. I don't recommend purchasing a car battery from Costco. Let me just start by saying that I like Costco for certain things. I know it can be hectic and time consuming but there are definitely benefits and I shop at my local Costco probably once a month. We were in the area this week and I wanted to stop in for a nice gift for a friend I was visiting and every experience I had here was absolutely terrible. First off, the parking lot here is not nearly big enough. There were no parking spots on a weekday at 11:30 am and I am not exaggerating. Fortunately I was not in a hurry so I was willing to circle and keep an eye out. I witnessed THREE (3) verbal altercations in the parking lot including one where a heavset woman was waiting for a handicapped parking space and began screaming out her window at an old man who was just trying to go around because cars were piling up. I was stopped in that particular back up for almost five minutes and decided to leave. I cannot even imagine what this place looks like on a weekend.... Somehow, I spotted an open spot near the parking lot exit and was able to park. I should have taken the previous indications into consideration and just left, but I didn't. Inside this Costco is standard but there were a lot of people. The lines snaked around like crazy. I wrote the number of the item I was there for and headed to the register. The cashier was loud and not particularly friendly and after paying told me to go to the pick up window. The woman assisting me asked to see my id and membership information again and was asking me personal questions about the item I was buying. When I started to get annoyed she said they had to do "due diligence". Like, what? Due diligence when people buy things from them? I never heard of such a thing. Don't sell things then. I asked for my purchase and left but it was such a weird vibe and I have never been treated like that anywhere before. Never again read more

Today I rolled up around 9:20 to go shopping before the majority of the masses arrive. I scan my card and in the mass confusion of excess carts at the entry and people standing there I'm told that unless I have an Executive Membership, I can't come in until 10am. WHAAAAAT??? I was told that they have been "telling" everyone that this was going to happen since June and they pointed to a sign. Um, geniuses, the sign is on the opposite side of the entrance from the machine where you now have to scan your card so why would you look over there or even notice it? I have been to Costco numerous times since June and not one person "told" me about the hours changing. I'm not going to pay double the membership charge to shop early, that should be allowed for everyone with any membership. What a dirty money grab. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, Costco. If I didn't get my hearing aids from there, I would cancel my membership today. Also, you took away the fruit smoothy which was the only thing that dairy free and gluten free people could consume at your food court. Way to go in excluding more people. The Concord Costco has been a staple in the neighborhood for years, and we've been loyal customers just as long. The store is always clean, and after so many weekends spent here, I know exactly where to find everything I'm looking for. Like other Costco locations, there are always free samples to try, which makes shopping here a little more fun. We've also used their optometry services in the past to get new hard contact lenses at great Costco prices--super affordable and convenient. Parking can sometimes be tricky, even with the large lot, but I've never had trouble finding a spot eventually. We also fill up on gas here often, and I appreciate that they've invested in adding more pumps per lane--it really helps with the flow during busy times. Note sure I really needed to review Costco - if you are a customer, you know what to expect. What surprised me recently was the mobile key service that is around for a few days. They had a small table in the warehouse, but I walked up to the van parked in front and asked if they could duplicate a key for a 2014 KIA Soul. They had an OEM key and it was $159 to duplicate and program the key. That was a pretty reasonable price so I took a bar code card inside and scanned and paid for the item. By the time I made it back to the van, the work was finishing up. As I walked back to the car, I met the technician and he said I was good to go. Might have been 30 minutes total, including walking inside to pay. A really helpful service. read more

I can understand the low reviews of this Costco, but speaking from personal experience here and my experiences at other Costcos in the East Bay, I personally feel that this Costco had topped my expectations for produce selection, gas prices and gas lines, car service, customer service, and tequila selection LOL. I think another reason this Costco appeals to me is knowing that locals shop here and that I haven't seen any Karen interactions between customers and staff (cough cough Danville Costco). The layout of the Costco is predictable and their plant selection is also diverse and plentiful. My partner and I also purchased our wedding bands here and the customer service was quick and through. They are also well-stocked and updated on seasonal goods, like camping tents for the summer and water proof ski coats for the winter. And as alluded to earlier, the tequila selection is excellent. Haven't seen any other Costcos in the area top them. read more

The customers will fight for samples like a hungry pack of lions. Come on now, it's just a small sample of pizza, cheese etc.. if they're that hungry pay the $1.50 for a hot dog and drink. I 'm down in the Concord area visiting and my friend wanted to drop by Costco. Wow, this is a big store ... compared to the one in Redding. We found one product I just had to tell you about. Kirkland sous vide cooked pork belly! The meat is already cooked by heating in water sealed in a bag and then packed to sell. All you gotta do is heat it and brown. There are various ways to heat, grilling, pan frying or in the oven. NO, do not use a microwave! We tried heating on a gas BBQ and that worked OK, but I think the best is pan frying. Then we took those tasty slabs of meat and fat and put them in a Kings Hawaiian roll .... wow, was that good. The price isn't bad either, maybe about $7.49/lb, the box has about 2 lbs in it. If you're at Costco, check it out in the refrigerated deli section, not frozen. read more

My beloved Costco, how do you only have three stars on Yelp? Before COVID and in the last year, I've shopped at this location on average once a month. For the uninitiated, please go to Google and look up what to buy at Costco. There are dedicated websites, chat groups/forums that talk about cool finds and good deals at Costco. I'm not going to go much in detail here, but I would say my go-to's are gas, rotisserie chicken, croissants, bagels, tomatoes, avocados, berries, sausages, pesto, milk, eggs, and flowers. The pricing and quality are good enough that I rarely get these items elsewhere. $4.99 for a 3 lb rotisserie chicken or a 12 pack of croissants. It's almost TOO cheap. If you're visiting from out of town, there are definitely hints of different cultures that shop at this store. Oxtail, pineapple cake/lunar new year seasonal things, bottles of bird's nest, ghee/naan/paneer, and gallon sized cans of menudo. If you're looking for big cuts of meat, they almost always have whole brisket and ribeye roasts. I just bought a two-pack of pork shoulders last week and that was massive. This particular location seems to also have more gardening items than other Costcos. It does get extremely busy at times, but I've never had issues with parking, whether it's next to the tire center or way in the back across the street from Re-Bath. They installed a bunch of self checkout lines which really speed up the checkout process (only exception is if you want to buy alcohol, then you have to go to normal checkout). I avoid the tire center at all costs, but I've been there on weekdays before open and it's usually not more than a handful of people waiting. The gas line can look intimidating during the day, but usually it's just one or two cycles of people for a set of 3 gas pumps. I haven't needed to interact with the staff much, but I have definitely done a handful of returns and quite a few price adjustments from new coupons or discounts and I didn't have any issues. read more

Today is a " Spare the day" temperatures are expected to be in the 100s. I went earlier than usual and got gas and then proceeded to the warehouse to do shopping. I'm expecting a visit from 3 relatives, therefore, the shopping would have been around $ 300 or more . When I scanned my card they told me tan unless I changed to " Executive" membership I couldn't get in until after 10 AM, it was 9:22 AM. With such a hot day I was not about to wait for over half an hour and neither did many people that turned away for the same reason. My question is if it's worth it for Costco losing over a $ 1000 in a second, which is what I calculated between what would have been my purchase plus the other people than turned away. I guess they don't care and neither do I because I will not be forced to change a subscription to what they want. read more
