Date of visit: May 24, 2026 The second Costco of our cross-country move trip, this was a pretty standard Costco, with little causing it to stand out at all from ones in other parts of the country. What was unusual was that you didn't wait for your number to be called after ordering from the kiosk. Here you went up to the counter with your receipt and then your order was assembled. I can't recall that being a thing at any other Costco but that is apparently how they do it here in Gypsum! Thankfully despite the unusual ordering process, the food was just as good as any other Costco. read more

It's a Costco, but it's a pleasantly located Costco not far from EGE. So, if you've just landed you can save yourself the 40 minute drive back from Vail and just stop in upon landing. Do note: it can look like a convention of household managers' course on frenetic preparation for weekend social events on any Thursday or Friday afternoon. We prefer to shop this location on a Monday or Tuesday. read more

Who doesn't love Costco! A nice variety of products including fresh food. I always end up with more than I wanted to purchase. Gas is always cheaper. Downside to the Costco is it is always busy and parking is a pain.... Early mornings or late evenings are the least busy times. Weekends at Costco are very busy. Gypsum Location: I don't know what's going on but all the employees I encountered today, 30 August 2025, are in a horrible mood. Nobody smiling. Making rude comments when checking out because I had a lot of items and made me move heavier items cause she was annoyed. Then making rude comments when looking at the price of items as she scanned. Said to look at the card machine and just scoffed under her breath like I was an idiot. Then, the gas attendant looked at me like I was an idiot when asking for help as I didn't realize I needed to put my card in instead of scan it. read more

The store has great selection for the most part and competitive prices. When it comes to the checkout process, Sam's is much more efficient using some type of facial recognition technology so that customers can check out with the hand held scanners and walk out if the software recognizes they have made a purchase. This store will not allow customers to use the hand held scanners and still manually check customers merchandise which is slow at times. This store could use a tech upgrade to make the check out process faster and easier. read more

I stopped twice at this Costco location to fill my vehicle with their gas. Their prices are very competitive. The gas pumps were clean. The lines were short both times. An employee was available but I didn't need any assistance. read more

The perfect Costco does exist! So I rolled in here at noon on a Saturday. Which would be insanity in the SLC store. Much to my surprise I found a half empty building. The reason I stopped here was really for one thing. Booze. See Colorado liquor laws are almost as archaic as Utah. 3.2 beer in grocery stores, no wine, liquor. However some Costco and grocery stores have found a way to offer all the above. I stocked up on Kirkland brand tequila, whiskey, vodka along with some micro brews. All for much less than the competition. I was loaded up and checked out in no time. It almost seemed like there were more employees than customers. I am kind of puzzled why they chose to put a store here. Grand Junction or Summit county would seem to make more sense. But oh well, definitely one of the more unique Costcos I've been to. read more

The ONE STOP SHOP for booze if you're staying anywhere close to this place. Tried the local wine shops in Avon, CO (since you can't buy wine at Walmart here in Colorado), and the choices weren't too impressive, and the PRICE was just "TOO DAMN HIGH". I drove 35 minutes from where I'm staying at to this "out in the boonies" Costco, and left completely satisfied. Located in a place that probably shouldn't have a Costco (literally out in the boonies lol), this Costco is pretty much your picture perfect Coscto. PLENTY of parking, 0 wait time in lines, and booze HEAVEN. Not only do they sell beer and wine (like the local Costco in Idaho), but they have a crapload of hard liquor too. Prices are the best you're going to see anywhere around here, and the sheer amount of choice here is truly impressive. There were only a handful of customers shopping here the 2 times I drove up for "supplies". It had that special "Kmart / Sears going bankrupt" atmosphere, and by that I mean isles are WIDE open, nobody in the store with their Rugrat kids going crazy, or blocking all the isles with the patented GIANT Costco carts. This is the best Costco experience I've had (come on, I'm wasting my time writing a review for freaking COSTCO...that has to tell you something...). Overall, this is truly a 5 star experience. Costco Gas (with NO WAIT TIME!), booze heaven, and no customers. I guess they're making profits (probably from out of towners stocking up while on vacation). Absolute must add to your roadtrip plans. read more

Coming from the DC Costco which is always crowded and sometimes out of stock of items I'm looking for, the Gypsum location is a revelation! It was mostly empty when I got there around 10am on a Saturday. Great selection of produce that I've never found back home at my local Costco including slices of fresh pineapple. Some goodies that I've not seen before in the freezer section including Red's organic chicken burritos. And best selection of wine and beer I've seen at a Costco: local brews from Breckinridge Brewery and others, and several wines from Orin Swift of prisoner wine company and Ridge Wine from the high teens per bottle. It is about a 90 minute drive from where I'm staying so not someplace I will probably go often, but totally worth it to make a trek there once or twice per season. read more

Costco will no longer get our business. We live an hour and half away. Drove down to grocery shop and we were turned away because we didn't have face masks! Our county only has one confirmed case of covid, so masks are not required In our county. I had no idea that the store was doin this! This store staff was really amazing when my family and I moved here 2 years ago. Now, there are some new staff, including managers who are not quite so charming. A manager by the name of Tyler treated me like a criminal today, because my membership expired three days ago and I asked if I could pay and renew when I got back home in 30 minutes. I've been a member for 20 years and have never encountered a 100% jerk, as I encountered today! They need to take lessons on customer service. Real disappointment this morning. As I walked into this Costco, an employee (Mickie) who was stationed at the entrance was literally shouting to another coworker that "Covid is a hoax, people are still getting it even when they wear masks, and everyone wearing a mask looks like a freak show. Don't these people watch the news?" Regardless of your feelings regarding Covid, it certainly wasn't very welcoming. I left. I am a long time Costco fan. Started shopping there at its flagship store in Kirkland long ago. So - I give lots of stars just for being a Costco. This particular store is less crazy than many. And it seems to stock more upscale food items than the ones I was used to in other states. So big fan. The only thing I have negative to say about it is that it is pretty far from my home. I used to have one a mile from me. This is an hour and a half from me. But I am still grateful to have it available at all! read more

I had a flat when traveling from Glenwood to Denver on a Sunday. Luckily my son-in-law was behind me and was able to put the spare tire on in place of the flat. I saw Costco in Gypsum listed when I searched for tires. I called the store and Shanna in the tire dept told me she had what I needed. We got there and Shanna got the job done quickly. The food is about what you'd expect. It's not bad, but it is by no means something special. Its quite far out of town, so it's not very conventional to go for lunch.. depending on where you work or go to school. It feels like a school cafeteria and the service is about the same. I wouldn't say anyone is mean, but its certainly not "Hey there! What can I get you this lovely day?" Costco is a nice spot for my friends when we don't have a lot to do, but I wouldn't go there on a date. I do enjoy the free refills and the vibe is actually pretty okay. However, like fast food, it tastes decent but its probably not your best option. I actually really enjoy Costco, just being honest. I'd like to see the food court improve. :) read more

I was not expecting to find a Costco here of all places! Went to go fill up gas during my road trip, and there was no long line for gas! Ahaha. Went inside the Costco for lunch. Food court is located inside Costco Was not crowded. But rather quite spacious. There weren't many people in there when I went in, but I'm sure business picks up in certain days of the week etc. Overall, good experience here! read more

Do not, under any circumstances, order any appliance to be delivered to your home in Eagle County. Costco outsources their deliveries to a company called XPO. They are the worst. Even if you can track said appliance to a warehouse in Colorado, it will take MONTHS to arrive. If you can get a date from XPO, it will just be for a potential week of delivery. Then it is get pushed out again and again. You can not get a straight answer because you are dealing with an overseas call center. Costco will claim they are trying to help and will do nothing. The refuse to take any accountability and will blame the delivery company that THEY hired and contract with. Then they will lie to you about compensation for your trouble. read more

We travel. A lot. When we hit the road we enjoy checking out what the different Costco's have because they all carry a few different items. Off to Eagle we went and got to Costco about 4:30 on a Friday. I have not seen a less crowded one ever so we were able to do our lap and be out in record time. Picked up some butter and looked at the clothes, which I love. That was it. In and out after going up and down almost each isle. Didn't check the frozen goods but everything Costco was there. This is the Costco to rival all other locations. It is never crowded and they have many items found at no other Costco, including Caviar (with mother of pearl serving spoon) during the holidays a few years back. I've been to many Costco locations spanning the globe. Literally, all over, ten states and four countries. It simply does not get any better than the Gypsum Costco. The locals are spoiled and many do not even realize it! read more

It's actually kind of hard to believe that this is a Costco. Why? Because it's EMPTY! Not in terms of items mind you. In terms of PEOPLE. This costco is like a ghost town. And if you enjoy shopping at costco you know that this is.... AWESOME! No pushy rude people running you over with blatant disregard for the speed of their shopping cart - just so that they can pick up a 50lb pound of Jasmine Rice, or 30 bottles of Advil, or a 165 inch flatscreen LCD TV. This is actually a costco where you can casually browse, quietly muse to yourself, and perhaps even write a little poetry between the (cavernous) aisles if it so pleases you. I think this was quite possibly the very first *peaceful* costco shopping experience I ever had. It was wonderful. I bought a 3 pack of boxer shorts and some ramen. Chicken flavor. Love Costco. It like going to the shopping mall for people in the area. The nearest mall about 40 miles away so this what we have. The people who work their are always nice and helpful. Always clean, well stocked and always something new to see and maybe buy. The best part has to the food counter. Cheap but good pizza, and yogert. The beer store is buy far the cheapest around but as costco goes you have to buy a lot in one purchase, not a bad thing when your taking beer. One thing can say that makes this Costco better than any other is that it's never busy like the Denver locations, great for us. read more

Who doesn't like Costco? Everyone like to get more for less, that's why Costco is here. I'm grateful to have a Costco within a 3 hour drive of home, but I wish it was closer. If you compare this one to others, say in California, it's kinda weak. Fewer options, and way, Way WAY slower checkout lines are about the only thing needing to be brushed up. A little off the beaten path, but only a few minutes from I-70. Gas is more expensive than Denver, but a good place to fill up. The rest of it is the same as every other Costco, good products and nice people working there. read more

Best Costco I've ever been to. Always friendly service. I've never had to wait in king lines at check out. They always seem well stocked and I am able to find what I'm looking for. Bathrooms are also always clean! I've been in Costco's in many states and this one is the most pleasant one I've been in. Not the biggest and they don't carry alcohol but seem to have everything else. Also good quality name brand clothing. read more

My only gripe about this location is that they constantly ask me why I have not yet upgraded to the platinum membership...about 5 consecutive visits now. Maybe because I DON'T WANT TO!
