This Costco has a huge and sprawling parking lot.  There are a lot of cross lanes and a lot of stop signs for the numerous intersections and the drivers do seem to be in a little bit more of a hurry here for whatever reason.   We rarely come to this Costco, but it also feels like one of the biggest in Chicagoland in square footage.  Lots of sampling available today in the early weekday afternoon also.  Overall, it's a good location and handy to have around. read more

Who doesn't love Costco? Trader Joe's will always be my fav store but Costco comes in as a close second. This Costco is a goodie! The store is HUGE (like usual) with tonsssss of parking outside. It's clean inside and has a plethora of options from clothing to food to seasonal decor to electronics to appliances to way more. I absolutely love Kirkland products and get a ton of them when I'm here. The samples and food court are obviously the best parts of a Costco run ;) My favorite products from Costco: street corn dip, Kirkland individual hummuses, buffalo chicken dip, their frozen 6.5lb chicken breast, their 100 calorie Healthy Choice fudge bars, and basically all of their catered options like their mini cut wraps, salads, and sandwiches. My favorite thing at the food court is their chocolate swirl or strawberry swirl ice cream. I loveeeee their pizza, too! The prices here for everything are unbeatable. This Costco is location is probably the busiest I've ever been to. The parking lot can get crazy and the checkout lines can get long, too. The gas lines outside are the longest most hectic thing ever, but it's worth the wait for the cheaper gas. Overall I will always love Costco and this is a good location! read more

NEW POLICY FOR COSTCO! You will now be required to have the person on the card with you when you make purchases now. When they scan your Costco card, it doesn't matter if it's your spouse, your parent, or your child, if their name is not on the card they will not be allowed to make purchases. Apparently, this new policy was only posted on Costco's website and unless you shop online or read news articles specific to Costco, you wouldn't have known. Either way, I was told this today, at the register, in a tactless way. I presented my wife's Costco card (executive membership $130/yr.) because I didn't have mine on me. She was grabbing 1 more item from the snack aisle so she wasn't near me when I reached the cashier. The cashier scanned the card and immediately asked me if "she" was with me. I asked who "she" was and she said "the woman on the card". I told her that my wife was here but was grabbing a snack. She waited about 10 seconds before saying that I needed my wife with me to complete the purchase. When I told her that my wife IS here just not physically near me, I was told that for future visits I would need to have the cardholder present at checkout. My wife walked up shortly and we were able to proceed. I then asked if it matters who pays (because I often give my wife my card to shop when I can't be with her), and the answer was "no". So Costco doesn't care if someone has stolen your card and uses it to make purchases but they do care that someone is sharing your membership. This policy is ridiculous and the cashier (Jacqueline R.) could have been more subtle in her approach. This sucks if you shop for the disabled or the elderly who have memberships but aren't able to make it to Costco. Also, first responders often shop and make large purchases but not everyone has a Costco card. It's a silly policy that is all about Costco making more money on memberships and not caring about the members. This isn't about fraudulent purchases or theft because Costco has a low percentage of both. This is just about revenue. This review is mainly to inform others to have the cardholder with them when they go to Costco now. read more

Recently, I sent my 18-year-old daughter to purchase laundry detergent while I remained in the car with my baby. To my shock, the staff turned my daughter away without even scanning our membership card. The cashier questioned her, stating that we might not even have a membership, and called over a lead, identified as Christian M. Unfortunately, he was dismissive and refused to assist her in purchasing a $14.99 item, despite her explaining that I was waiting in the car. The attitude and behavior exhibited by Christian were disheartening and unprofessional. When I asked him why he would suggest we might not have a membership, he seemed speechless and offered no explanation. Such treatment is not what I expect from a store that prides itself on being family-friendly and community-oriented. Because as a parent I thought I'll never see the day where my child would be discriminated on because of her race. It's so crazy that this behavior is acceptable in people mind. I am left feeling disappointed and concerned about the values being upheld at Costco. It is imperative that all customers, regardless of their age or situation, receive respectful and fair treatment. I hope you will take this matter seriously and address it appropriately. A hot mess corporate needs to evaluate the whole team because it's not give family. read more

I have been a member of Costco for a long time and so has my family. I went to go pump air into my tire but realized it was flat. I had never changed a flat before I had asked if one of the guys from the tire center which had just opened up could just help me put the spare on his response was to make an appointment when he could see as clear as day I was parked right across the tire center it was completely flat. As a long time member it's disappointing that they could not even help in this instance when they were not as busy it probably would've taken them a couple mins. read more

I had to mark this Costco down to a three... a seemingly passive aggressive red headed food court guy called me "ma'am" at least twenty times in the course of denying me a chocolate/strawberry sundae (I asked once) and preparing a chocolate sundae for me that was oozing sauce. My go-to store for gas, groceries, plants, and more. Purchases onsite and online rarely disappoint. Employees are always kind and upbeat, and very service-oriented. I'm impressed with Covid provisions, and how customers have adopted to the new normal. Most shoppers are conscious of physical distancing, and give each other the benefit of a doubt. Friendly staff, very open layout which is important especially now with distancing. Items are plenty and well organised. Don't miss the free extended warranty on electronics! The food is great and some very unique items not found anywhere else are on the shelves. The dairy section is a walk in fridge room so is the vegetable produce area which is a neat feature. Parking is plenty but fills up fast on weekends. Do some research on their gasoline as well, top tier. We made the switch and can see improvement in both cars over time. Deeply love this location! The other day I encountered fradulent misrepresentation at this location. If that wasn't enough I had to stand through a forced sales pitch for an individual costco membership even though my family has an executive membership evidenced by a card I WAS HOLDING IN MY HAND. Specifically, even though my family has an executive membership, which covers everyone at the address, two employees indicated this was not the case and that the executive membership is only available to individuals assigned cards in their name. They fradulent misrepresented their own product, which they should know, and their own policy, which they should also know, to sell me a duplicate membership. The frozen fruit selection also has a wide verity and I can recommend the frozen berries and cauliflower rice They do have the best prices anywhere on a bunch of stuff, but caveat peremptory: even if 100 rolls of toilet paper is an incredible value how long will you be storing that for? Why? Just because I felt like doing so -- hey, it gave me something to do on Sunday at 5:30 a.m. The price point for gas at the Melrose Park Costco gas station is (was) $2.50 The price point for gas at the Niles Costco gas station is (was) $2.60 Feb 5, 2020: Gas price of $2.39 at Costco Melrose Park IL Feb 5, 2020: Gas price of $2.54 at Costco Niles IL A reminder to those who are huge fans of Costco gas and want to SAVE money. NOTE: Hit up Costco gas station on Tuesday or Wednesday. These 2 days offers the CHEAPEST GAS. Gas prices start increasing slowly and gradually from Thurday through Monday. Gas is always the most expensive on the weekend -- including Monday. How do I know? Because I have kept a record of how much gas costs at Costco, Monday through Sunday, for over 4 weeks. Costco is the king of big box stores I've been a member of Costco since they opened this location in Melrose Park four years ago. And they certainly deliver what they promise, good quality, great service and fair prices. You can find almost anything in this store, from camping supplies and clothing to grocery store items. They have a pharmacy, optometrist, electronics department and a gas station, where their prices are better than you will find anywhere in the area. They also have an extensive selection of wines and liquor. They have a tire/Automotive department, meat department, bakery, anything you can find in a regular grocery store plus more. In addition to the gas station, the main reason we go here is for the the meat and produce departments. It's one of the few places where you can find prime grade meat and the cuts are trimmed so lean that you don't pay for fat as in a lot of other places. The products are so fresh that this is the only place that I can buy strawberries and eat them for a few days without getting rotten. Sure the quantities sometimes are a bit much, but, the quality and prices are so enticing that they are hard to refuse. read more
