After hearing that they are well known for their little B&Bs this one stood out among the rest for our weekend trip. We were going to be visiting on our 15th anniversary and lucky for us they still had some Saturday night reservations a few weeks before our trip. We originally had the Evening Star reserved but a lovely woman from the reception reached out to us upon seeing our reservation and asked if we wanted to be upgraded to the Weber House - for no additional charge! This was an absolute yes! What a nice gesture since they knew it was our anniversary - based on the questionnaire during check out. Some of the buildings are split with multiple room offerings- like the main hall- the Weber House however we stayed in was just us. We had a cute porch, living room, kitchen, bedroom, hugeeee bathroom with clawfoot tub and a screened in outdoor porch. Some of the bigger houses you can rent have room for multiple people but ours was intended for 2 people. They also have a cute library with some books and DVDs you can borrow. The property itself was VERY quiet. When we arrived we checked in at the little office upfront. The girl working even walked us to our little house since we had never been on the property before. Whoever stayed at the house the night before had broken the glass on the little table in the kitchen which was a bummer, so we could not use that, and maintenance was off on weekends. But otherwise it was the cute quaint place. Bed was comfy, central AC even though the buildings themselves pre-date that. Each one is unique too! We especially liked sitting on the screened in porch at night and enjoying a bottle of wine. In the morning they promptly left breakfast in a basket at 9am at our doorstep that was home cooked. It was a very sweet inn.

My wife and I biked the Willow City Loop, and we were able to leave straight from the Hoffman Haus without any issues. But best of all, the staff hosted a Super Bowl party with great barbecue when we got back from our ride! They are truly the friendliest people.

The breakfast was very good, served fresh and hot. After our plates were given to us and she was going to head out to give us our privacy, we enjoyed her company so much that we asked her to stay and visit. You approach the resort by dirt roads, but they are well maintained and no problem for our sedan. The Tesla nav system was accurate. We had no problems getting there and back. Kelly and Brian are excellent hosts. Brian can regale you with many anecdotes from Central Texas history, most of which I had not heard before, even though we've lived in the Lone Star State for 38 years. Our room was quiet, cool, and comfortable. The lobby is also quiet and is a great place to sit and read. There are two very sweet dogs that have the run of the place. We had a lot of fun interacting with them. You can walk the grounds and along the dirt roads with nearly zero traffic. I do recommend sturdy hiking boots, as cockleburrs are plentiful. There are also venomous snakes in this area, although we did not see any. Better safe than sorry. We will certainly return. I'm thinking March or April will be perfect to catch the wildflowers and get in before the summer heat. Please the attached photo captions for additional comments.

The barn is really neat when you walk in. The ceiling is high and the pictures on the walls are neat. Take some time to look around. There's books to read and puzzles to finish. Your room has a coffee maker with coffee, creamer and sweeteners. There's shampoo and body wash in the shower, as well as a hair dryer in the bathroom. KK really thought of everything with the vanity and additional makeup mirror ladies need to get ready for the day. The only thing missing is your makeup and hair products. Theres also glassware, champagne glasses, cups too. She even included local businesses in a binder so you can find places easily. Breakfast is simple yet filling and delicious. We stayed two nights and enjoyed seeing KK in the morning and listening to funny stories about her boys and just life experiences. We will definitely be back and can't wait.

The details: Breakfast: It was delicious both mornings we were there - breakfast tacos and pastries one day, bananas foster French toast and ham the second. There are 4 total rooms, and we enjoyed talking to the other couples at breakfast that were there during our stay. Our Room: It included pretty much anything we would need for our weekend there: - Kitchenette area with a coffee-maker (in case you want to make coffee before the 9am breakfast time), small fridge, microwave, plates, silverware, wine glasses, champagne glasses, drinking glasses, coffee cups, corkscrew - Bathroom with a large shower with two showerheads and large counterspace that included a vanity area with chair along with shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, towels - Comfy king-size bed, two nightstands with lamps, a loveseat (I believe 3 of the 4 rooms have a loveseat and the other has two chairs) - Flatscreen TV, alarm clock - Gas log fireplace Other Amenities: - kk knew Fredericksburg well and was able to direct us to a small hole-in-the-wall winery with some great red wines (if you tell her what kind of wines you prefer, she can direct you to both local wineries and wineries on 290 that would enjoy), restaurants to try, and other things to do during our stay - There are several places to sit outside, including a screened-in area with rocking chairs and an outdoor patio area, which was a great place to sit in the evenings while enjoying a glass of local wine. - Snacks! There was a candy bowl, leftover breakfast pastries, and some addictive jalapeno caramel popcorn while we were there. - A short drive from the shops and restaurants in Fredericksburg

There are lots of options around Texas for romantic spots so that doesn't sound too hard, right? Well, it wouldn't be if you weren't dealing with a hormonal, PMSing girl with mad food cravings because she's trying to be good and eat low carb to squeeze into the size-too-small bridesmaid dress that she ordered. Too much info? I digress. We hit the wine road towards Fredericksburg and after seven wineries, 42 tastings, and six bottles later, he brought me to the most adorable place I've ever stayed at: Carriage House. In case you're wondering, it was just as adorable the next day when I was more sober (my photos don't do the place justice). The outside of the main house was pretty, but no, we weren't staying in the main house- he did better than that. Off to the side of the main house was a little cottage standing by itself. "EEEEE, we're staying in there?!" my tipsy self gushed. The girly squeals only intensified after I saw the interior of the cottage. Hubs had outdone himself. A few tips for first timers: Dogs under 30lbs are allowed to stay for an extra $10/night. You have your very own private parking spot that is literally right next to the cottage. Once parked, you will find a little gate about a yard in front of your car; the gate leads right to the front of the cottage. In addition to the usuals that are provided at a hotel, the cottage is also supplied with dishes, silverware, and wine openers. Just check the drawers around the kitchen sink. Towels and extra toiletries are located under the bathroom sinks, and there is a step stool located underneath the (very high) bed. If you're short, use it. If you've been drinking wine all day, use it. When in doubt, use it. You're not actually served breakfast in bed here. Instead, you're given $10 vouchers (one for each guest) that can be used at several popular brunch spots in Fredericksburg. If Carriage House had a cheesy slogan, I would imagine it to be something along the lines of, "Carriage House: Drink Wine and Fall in Love." So friends, drink wine, fall in love, and check this place out. But don't try to book on my birthday weekend. Because it'll be mine.
