Best breakfast spot in town, although it's also the only one. Get there early. Omelettes are thin and light which is how I like them, and the Supreme (smoked salmon, capers, red onion, cream cheese) was well balanced. In addition to the traditional breakfast standards there's a rice bowl with veggies or you can build your own omelette. Lovely little spot right on the water, surrounded by blooming flowers. We were greeted immediately with warm smiles and sat at a small table. Our waitress appeared with water and hot coffee very quickly. Within minutes of ordering we were feasting on the Basile Eggs, which I highly recommend. This is our favorite breakfast place in Pentwater! We were there about a month ago and again today! We have actually been eating here since our kids who are now 22 and 19 were in elementary school and we started coming to Pentwater to go camping at Mears State Park. We love that we can get lox, bagel and cream cheese with tomato here! We absolutely LOVE their homemade jam! They make most items with a little bit of a twist and it's always very good! The only thing I would change is they need to start to carry better coffee. Or maybe it's me...or the last 2 times I was there it seemed very bitter...or maybe I just got the bottom of the barrel? Idk, I just feel like a breakfast restaurant should have great coffee. Otherwise, fabulous! read more

Love Cottage Garden Cafe! Omelets are fresh and full of veggies and cheese and you get a choice of fresh fruit or roasted potatoes. They offer a selection of breakfast meats, and usually two choices of quiches daily. Service is quick, the staff is always friendly and they make their yummy preserves and share them with us for our toast. read more

Great breakfasts served through noon, what's not to like? This sweet restaurant is adorably decorated with bright tablecloths and twinkle lights. Tea is served in neat, colorful teapots. They make their own strawberry jam (it is excellent, and I usually do not eat jam on my toast!). 3-egg omelettes, quiches, pancakes and home made granola are in the breakfast menu. Lunch menu includes the usual variety if sandwiches, soups(house made!) and salads. A nice addition is the platters and other neat appetizers. Iced coffee, iced tea and summerade are some of the beverages on the menu. We were in for breakfast and I had the quiche, while my husband had a make your own omelette. Both were great. The food came out very quickly. Dessert list includes bread pudding w/hard sauce, homemade brownie sundaes, pies and root beer floats. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and will be back! read more

I don't know if there are actually "hidden treasures" in such a small beach town, but if there are, this is one of them here in Pentwater. Cottage Garden Cafe serves fresh, homemade food in a super cozy, bright setting. Our crew tried various items from the menu: a burger, the roast beef sandwich, two types of quiche, and a grilled chicken sandwich. They were totally ok with our small requests (adding mushrooms to the chicken and bacon to the burger) and the food came out quickly, straight from the kitchen. Everything was fantastic! My son and husband loved the pretzel buns and my father-in-law and I loved the quiche. My mushroom-loving kid was very happy with the way the kitchen prepared one of his favorites. Then there were the desserts - oh, wow. To say I was a little wistful I didn't get my own piece of that incredible, homemade coconut creme pie would be an understatement. We may have to make a second trip before we head home. Our table also had a couple of hot fudge sundaes, which were served in classic sundae cups and received rave reviews. Sometimes, simple dishes done well really hit the spot, and this was the case here, for sure. Our server was also fantastic - attentive, friendly, knowledgeable... no complaints there. Food is very good, my favorites are their quiches and salads. Breakfast is always a treat, especially when they offer pumpkin pancakes in the fall. Soups are too salty for my taste but they do have a nice variety; usually 3-4 choices. Their iced tea is fresh brewed. Service is usually fast, staff is always pleasant. This restaurant was very nice and it had a great patio where we could sit outside on a beautiful day. We started with the deep fried asparagus appetizer that was delicious. ThenI got the southwest chicken wrap and it came with potato chips or you could upgrade to waffle fries or sweet potato fries. My friend got The shrimp wrap which was the special of the day. He didn't want the french fries that came with it so they offered him soup, salad or any of the other options. He chose the soup and they had a seafood chowder that he said was delicious. read more

I am a breakfast foodie. Omelette was good size and good value. Strawberry jam is aces. Nicely done potatoes thin sliced and subtle seasoning. Staff was friendly even though they were short handed that morning. They told us twenty minute wait even though tables sat empty. I personally respect that since you were served well once seated. My wife and I love this place, people are usually warm and friendly, the only thing we have noticed is that the portions are smaller and the prices are a bit high for what you receive. Excellent breakfast joint somewhat off the beaten path. Seriously the best waffle I think I've ever had any where. Perfectly crisp and soft at the same time, even the batter had way more flavor than a standard waffle. Add the strawberries and cream! I really wanted this to be my favorite restaurant in Pentwater, because it's a really cute little place and the other online reviews seemed pretty good, but it was kind of a disappointment. The food was bland. I got the Asian chicken lettuce wraps and it was like your nana's version of the PF Changs dish: generic shredded American cheese, La Choy crunchy noodles, chopped tomatoes and large cubes of chicken in soy sauce. The portions were really small, which I normally applaud because I hate the Applebee's approach (overflowing plates of unhealthy food) but even the more delicate eaters at the table were still kind of hungry when we were finished. The bill was a little hefty for what we got - boring food and not much of it. We had a party of four (one adult and three kids) and everyone had breakfast except me, just water to drink, and the bill was about $45, not including tip. The service was okay - adequate, but not terribly friendly or on top of things. We visited Pentwater during a heat wave and the restaurant either had no air conditioning or was not using it. This place is charming and delicious. This morning for breakfast we are outside in the garden and had a very friendly and attentive server, even though we were outside. I ordered the Basile Omelette which has cream cheese and scallions. This was unique and amazing - highly recommend it.
