Some friends and I wandered in to Gull Landing for dinner because I saw they offered an all-u-can-eat cod dinner, which I really wanted to try and, I was NOT disappointed. Crispy and tasty cod fillets, served with fries, tartar sauce and cole slaw, although I was not too fond of the slaw. It's wasn't bad, and I can definitely say I've had worse, it just wasn't very flavorful. The layout of the restaurant is kind of different, like an 'L' shape, and there aren't that many tables indoors, but I think it is due to the majority of their business is the summer/warmer months and people are dining on the deck... and with that said, I would definitely enjoy dinner on the deck. Our waitress was very nice, attentive and not overbearing, although it took her a while to get to our table and the restaurant didn't seem to be very busy... but the host who sat us made sure we got our drinks and menus, so they get points for thinking on their feet and the team effort. read more

The food was correct but overpriced for what you get. Service just awful. Details I ordered pasta dish, my wife's salad. Fifteen minutes later, the server came out and said pasta isn't available for lunch. I asked if they had any non alcoholic beer. Ten minutes later the server brought me a Bud zero. Which I didn't order. I had just asked initially IF they had any. Bid zero is a sucky drink (Fetch in nearby Whitehall makes a very nice n a beer). I sent it back. Then ordered a salad with the ahi tuna. Several minutes later we got water. My wife's salad came first of course. 15 minutes later mine did. We had to ask for water refill. Then the bill came and it still had the Bud zero on it. I had to wish ten minutes to snag the server to get the bill taken care of. The server was apparently new. That's fine. We had a new server at The Deck in Muskegon the other night, but she said so right away, and was excellent. It did appear that some of the other servers were more attentive. And I note other reviews are 4-5 stars. But I have to write a re iré based on the experience that we had, which was sub par, and we would not return. read more

We are locals in town And we had some friends come and visit and they really wanted to try this restaurant out. Even though we're locals, we'd actually never eaten there because we've been told not to. We decided to give it a go. Not only did a meal for just two people with one appetizer cost $100 with tip. The food was absolutely horrible. I just had a plain chicken sandwich that literally should've been no more than 12 bucks. My husband had the Italian white fish dish and it was disgusting. He had a bone in his fish and it was basically just a bunch of Parmesan cheese on top of a piece of fish. The fish still had its bloodlines in it, so it was not exactly the tastiest either. His mashed potatoes tasted like all they used was pepper. Thankfully, I can say the french fries and onion rings were delicious and that was it. The water even tasted absolutely awful. Thankfully the service wasn't bad. The atmosphere was so so. I feel like we wasted so much money for absolutely nothing and I can say we will never go there again. read more

Stop for dinner tonight. They had a cod special. We ordered off the menu. Omg. Almost 1 hour, still no food. Most tables around us were not getting food either. Wait staff was no where to be seen. We have visited Gull Landing several times over the past 25 years we have visited Pentwater, this last visit was by far the worst. We were told it would take 45 mins to get our food bc they were low on staff. It took an hour and half to get our food after ordering. Our server never came back to refill our coffee. (We were there for breakfast) Every single one of our orders was wrong when our food came out and I am going to be honest it was disappointing. My toast wasn't even edible because they doused it was butter or grease of some kind. The only reason I gave 1 star is bc they did take one meal off our bill. We won't be returning unless they have new ownership/management. Such a shame, as this restaurant used to be so good. We've given them plenty of chances but unfortunately things keep getting worse. read more

Ate at Gull Landing on multiple occasions; no question that the acorn squash is one of the best items on the menu. My wife likes the crab cakes and the Thai Peanut Pasta and I enjoyed the Whitefish Italiano with the creamy Parmesan sauce. I've also had the Cashew Walleye which was good, but not being much of a cashew aficionado, I feel the crust combined with the panko breadcrumbs was a bit heavy. Best breakfast in town a wide variety of entrées for dinner great service great staff you can eat inside / outside. With a view of pink water lake you feel like you're in a little Cape Cod town. We walked in & got sat by the politest young man who even moved the umbrella outside to block the sun, then the waitress just disappeared, the bartender came over after 15 mins and apologized. She finally showed up & brought our drinks, which didn't taste right. Idk if their fountain machine is off or what. We placed our order eventually, & it finally came. The food was pretty good- highly recommend the squash. Then we finished & once again the waitress was no where to be found. We needed to pay the bill & leave. I was here with a group of 6 and everyone seemed pleased with their food, drinks, and service. We sat in the outdoor area which had plenty of tables with good distancing. The music was good, atmosphere was nice, and there were covid procedures in place. I had the chicken club sandwich which had avocado and bacon on it. I really liked the combination but the bread was a little tough. I also had with sweet potato wedges which were good. Hubby and fish and chips and he said it was just alright. I called their phone number to make sure they were open and no one answered and the message said you are open every day at 9:00 am. So, we drove into town and came into the restaurant at approximately 10:15. I explained to the hostess that there are 6 of us and we would like to get bloody Mary's. We could see a bartender and two other employees setting things up in the outside deck. When asked if we could sit outside, she stated that she had to check. We had a great dinner sitting outside at Gull Landing last night. Our server was friendly and she promptly took our drink order, and w/in 10 minutes she took our food order. Our meals were served hot 15 minutes later. All 6 of us liked our beverages and meals-2 Whitefish dinners, Perch, Ravioli, Pasta w/Shrimp, Caesar salad, and salad w/grilled salmon. Excellent! i especially recommend the mussels appetizer. Outdoor only, which somewhat limits good days to visit to good-weather days. Somewhat a victim of their own success, so the servers are a bit harried. Live jazz on Sundays and Wednesdays, which is both lovely and an impediment to conversation and more importantly to the ability of the servers to do their job. I honestly don't know why the stars are so low on here. This is a vacation spot. Adjust your expectations on time. They are busy. With that being said, i ordered the fried cod. So fresh and crisp. It was worth the wait to get a spot outside for our party of 7. We went next door to buy fudge and try gelato samples while we waited. Everyone enjoyed the food. The sails and umbrellas outside helped with the sun. The owner, Dianna, was running the floor and checking on tables, as well as wait staff. I want to compliment the owner and their waitstaff, especially the Afro-American bar manager who seemed to be in charge, for their amazing lack of customer service and conspicuously absent desire to make your customers comfortable. Especially in a community where a large number of residents and visitors are senior citizens and many of whom are likely dealing with skin cancer issues. My wife and I stopped by for dinner Sunday (8-22-21) around 4:30. The deck seating area had several customers but many open tables. The local temp was in the high 80's and the sun was simply baking down on the deck. We asked the young female waitress if we could have an umbrella set up on a table to shield us from the sun (there were a least 5 or 6 umbrellas stacked up against the wall in the corner of the bar). The Afro-American gentlemen overheard this conversation with the young waitress and immediately gave her the "forget it" gesture by waving his hand back and forth across his neck and chin. We immediately left. This is an amazing marketing strategy. Close your inside seating area forcing your customers to sit on your exposed deck and hire employees who don't give a rip about the comfort of your customers and are too lazy to take 5 minutes to set up a simple umbrella providing them shade from the blazing sun. Don't think that my wife and I will ever find a reason to return to Gull Landing! read more

My 10 month old daughter got the hot dog basket with grapes, which were not seedless, so they didn't work for her. My toddler got the potato chip coated chicken fingers. They were probably the best thing we had. The best thing about this place is the view, but it definitely wasn't good enough to justify the 2 hour affair (a lifetime with kids). Also, we had to kill some bees (sorry) because they wouldn't stay away from our table. In a nutshell, we don't recommend this place for lunch. I was torn on 3 or 4 stars. First our carry out order was handed to us in a bag with the containers on their side. The food was a little messing when we opened the containers. Although our food was good, my daughter ordered the salmon boa buns and on initial inspection noticed "white" fish amongst the pinkish salmon. We phoned and was told it was haddock.
