Went to the jolly plater for breakfast. Food was ok not great, but went for the cinnamons roll we were told 7.99 on the menu said 5.99. Owner was the waitress and would not honor the price. Gave the excuse I'm a new small business owner give me a break, well good PR on that one, and it was said rudely and offensively!! If you can't afford new menus then black out the price with your pen and rewrite the new amount. Not good business not to honor. Or make them smaller!!! Stopped by this darling diner for breakfast on our way down to GR. We were greeted with a warm welcome and a hot tasty cup of coffee. The inside is warm and cheerful, and the staff takes great care to make you feel at home. Our food arrived quickly and was very tasty. We were especially amazed that gluten free bread was available as a toast option! We took a cinnamon bun home (wow! Amazing) along with some prepared sauces that were for sale at the cash register. Fantastic food and service! We had a delicious breakfast. My husband had an omelette which was loaded with meat and cheese. My bacon and eggs were cooked just right and the homemade jam was to die for. We also picked up cinnamon rolls and a cookie to go. My mouth is watering just thinking about how wonderful they were. Stopped here with my parents on our way up north. We honestly stopped because the reviews for this place were too good to not try it out for ourselves! Upon arriving we were greeted by the sweetest waitress, who's name i didn't catch but she has purple ponytail. We asked for the ginormous cinnamon roll and she brought it to us within like 2 minutes ( 100% recommend this, she told us that the owners daughter makes them in house along with other cookies and cakes!!! So good!) My dad ordered the Irishman omelette, which he said had a great portion of corned beef and it was very tasty. My mom ordered the Jolly Veg omelette, which she said was delicious. The both got toast and homemade strawberry jam with their meals and they could not stop raving about how good the jam is. I am not much of a breakfast girl, so i decided to go with lunch and ordered the Cuban Pork. And let me tell you, that was one of the best Cuban sandwiches i have had in a while. And to top it all off it was served with homemade potato chips with sriracha on them!! They were amazing. The atmosphere of the Jolly Plate felt so homey and welcoming. This establishment is under new ownership as of earlier this year. We ordered biscuits and gravy and their house made corned beef hash. The gravy was well seasoned and the hash was crispy and tasty. The homemade jam was very good too. Our waitress, who is also the new owner, was lovely and attentive. She talked me into taking home a humongous cinnamon roll and I am so glad she did because it was amazing. I loved the small town ambiance of this place too, every body seemed to know everybody. They homemake their deserts and their jam, which is to die for! The waitstaff was very friendly and welcoming. Nothing Jolly about the place with the new owner. Went in for breakfast. Wife asked if potatoes came with omelet. the new Owner who was waitress too said no, but you can get them for extra price. Wife looked at ala cart listings and saw that they were $4.50 for hash browns and said yes for $4.50 and the owner said very rudely and condescendingly, "I can show you my Cisco bill if you want". My wife looked at me and said, 'we're outta here" so we got up and walked out. No way to treat a customer. I've talked to others who live around this area and have had 3 different people tell us that the owner treated them very rude. She won't be in business very long doing this. The previous owner was nice and her wait staff was way better than her. Yelp profile above says Kim B is owner but she to this new owner. Walking into a new Diner in a town that we hadn't been to in years, a town almost in the middle of nowhere. To be honest we weren't expecting much other than just another average meal. Boy were we wrong. It started out by reading things on the menu and on the table which talked about their commitment to organic non-GMO and fresh food. They had some interesting things on the menu nothing too out of the norm but none the less I wasn't expecting the best clam chowder I've ever tasted in my life. It was so good that my son ate a full bowl of it before he ate his pancakes. What 7 year old kid is going to eat seafood soup before pancakes. But he did because it was that good. I had a Reuben and it was phenomenal on fresh bread and it was delicious. We also had a turkey and cheese and a ham and cheese on rye grilled and it was amazing. Everybody's food was delicious the service was phenomenal. Our waitress was Yvette and she was on the move nearly constantly. We had everything we needed either moments after we asked for it or in most cases before we even knew we needed it!! It was supper uncomfortable, Would have left if we would have noticed before we ordered our drinks, one of the servers was taking about their views on masks while we waited for food. We couldn't leave fast enough. Food was fine. But this happened during Michigan's second biggest Covid spike this year. Don't eat here. They care more about their world view then the well being of their patrons. You shouldn't be in business if you put others at risk and can't do the bare minimum safety measures. This is an outstanding restaurant in the Ludington area! The menu is really fresh and fun! I had a Cheri Salad with chicken, and the greens were so fresh!! And the strawberry vinaigrette dressing was so different and tasty!! My daughter had a chicken and waffle sandwich with smoked Gouda and bacon with home made chips and it was also really tasty! Three friends & I went to the Jolly Plate on Saturday at 10:30 am, Nov 17th. They were very busy, but we were seated quickly. The intereior has been updated & made much brighter & welcoming by the volors, etc. Our food was delicious. Two had the squash soup with the cute roll & the Cuban sandwich.
