We stayed at the Bluff Gardens for two nights the first part of March of this year. The key to our cabin was waiting for us in the box at the office. The cabin was clean and ready for our arrival. The beds were comfortable as was the radiant heat. There was a "local sites" guide that was convenient and easy to understand and follow. On Sunday morning my wife was showering and when reaching for a towel, her feet slipped out from under her. She fell back and hit her head on the wall, resulting in a concussion. As I wrote this review on the Garden's web site I discovered numerous others stating they had found the tiles in the shower slick. It seems the owners had been notified of this issue, but at least in cabin #7 had not provided some way of eliminating the issue. When I initially wrote this review it was to simply let others know of a concern of mine. When I heard nothing from anyone at the property, and my review (as well as other's reviews) was no longer present, I felt I needed to post something here.

There is so much to see in the Four Corners region. For example, choose Highway 191 and it will be…read moredifficult to keep your eyes on the road. I've traversed that blacktop so many times and yet I missed the obvious: the sign for the Sand Island campground and petroglyphs. This campground is a great base for exploring the region and the adjacent boat launch area that hugs the San Juan River makes it even more pleasant. Of course, what lured me here is the large 300-foot long sandstone panel of petroglyphs that overlooks the campground. Thankfully protected by a fence, the images here are in very good condition with none of the bullet holes and routine vandalism that too often affects other sites. Over 1,000 images here date from 3000 BCE to AD 300 and are the result of many peoples: Ute, Navajo, Zuni, Hopi, Pueblo, and European ancestry, too. Some of the etched images no longer contrast well against the surface because desert varnish -- the dark mineral coating that coats stone over time -- has seeped into the crevices of the rock art. The nuanced surface simply attests to the age of these petroglyphs. Spend a night camping at Sand Island and you'll literally have a front row seat to ancient history.

Our room was perfect with a balcony we enjoyed in the evening. There's a bell room with a washer and dryer, even a couch while you wait and AC. The check in service was great. In the morning on our way to breakfast we were asked about our stay. There's a breakfast buffet which was included with room. I'm so glad bc there's not a lot around town and everything closes pretty early too. There's also a gift shop act the front desk. The pool and hot tub are amazing indoors with large windows displaying the beautiful red rock and great outdoors. There's a pretty stone shower and restroom La are available le there too. In the same building is the gym and a beautiful sitting area with a fireplace and even a dining table. It's all around gorgeous.

Our room was quite large w a big bed there's two night stands a desk area large tv on and dresser; another bed in an alcove is great for another person to have a bit of privacy w a night stand. The room had a microwave, fridge and coffee maker w a selections of coffee and teas. Bathroom was large and a great shower area w a nice shower head that had good hot water when needed. The amenities were awesome. The soap smelled great and had an amazing exfoliating seeds build in. The body lotion felt so luxurious on my skin. Towels and bed linens were perfect. If you read my posts about food you know I'm a water snob well when lodging in a sheet snob (my husband would say I'm like the princess and the pea). The sheets were soft and comfy. We had a restful nights sleep and awesome shower w great pressure. We then we welcomed to a breakfast all homemade even seemed the juices we fresher squeezed. I had the savory crusty bread w egg, tomato, kielbasa, ham and cheese inside it was so yummy. They had whole wheat cinnamon rolls that the frosting was great as well as the great flavor. The overnight chia was great loved the creaminess of the mixture but the fruit on top was fresh. The oj was as fresh and the coffee (I'm not a coffee drink but my mom said it was great). She gave us banana bread to take and it was dense and great. We ate breakfast in the back garden which was pretty and peaceful. They had patio tables, picnic tables but also had chaises and fire pits. There's no spa, but there's cozy beds, hot showers, and a lovely area outside to lounge around in with several tables chairs and a few grills. It certainly has a strong retro vibe, but if you're looking for fancy and modern, check out NYC. I hear it's fancy there.
