I lost my Medicaid insurance, I had enough of my medication for a while so I didn't follow up as they say I should have, all while having NO insurance. I was starting to get low on my medication so I called for a refill. I was given the WORST treatment EVER I was told by "Dr Welch" that I was a con and trying to "beat the system" Um NO its called had NO $ insurance so why come in? I was on Wellbutrin and you can get some pretty awful withdrawals if you just stop the medication. It been a year and a half and I STILL cannot believe they are still in business! AWFUL

Although it is a bit difficult to get to (there's no near by parking & this business is located inside of a building with other small offices) it is worth exploring. Unlike other counseling services, this practice offers a more casual atmosphere; there is no receptionist so when I first enter the tiny waiting room I couldn't help but feel like I had just wandered into a strangers apartment. However, I also found this strangely pleasing because you fill out all of your paper work in the counselors office- this way there's no room for others to overhear any embarrassing questions or personal info. Also, most places ask you to set aside an hour to three for an assessment, this is not the case at Healing Strides. Included in your paper work are questions that you take home & fill out which gives you time to think about your goals & what you feel you need to work on vs. being put on the spot & interrogated. This is great for those of us who are confused or have anxiety. Best of all, this practice has dogs!!! Although I did not see or meet any of them- there are dogs they use to help clients through their sessions in hopes of reducing stress,etc. And my co-payment was affordable; just $25.00 vs. the $100.00 plus I had to pay at my previous counselor. As I continue to go, I'll update my review on the staff so that you can get a better feel for the business.

I've tried CBT, Art therapy, Counseling, and just about every medicine under the sun during that time with little to no results. I was convinced I was just going to have to live a life of unexplainable sadness and anxiety. Then I stumbled across Alternative Therapeutics and learned about neurofeedback. After speaking with a doctor there and doing a little research I decided to give it a go. This was the best decision I've ever made and the results were nothing short of a miracle. They taught me mindful meditation, controlled breathing and performed neurofeedback on me twice a week for ten weeks. Upon completion of these 20 sessions my sleep schedule was now normal and consistent, with very little fatigue during the day. This was a huge change as I was previously sleeping 12 hrs a night and tired ALL day. I was missing out on a lot of my life and just going through the motions. This is no more, I sleep 7-8 hours a night and feel energetic ALL day. I was also very sad without any real reason the majority of the time and feeling hopeless. This slowly subsided over our time together to the point that I have absolutely zero symptoms of my depression. This was a first in 10 years!!!! One year later I am still completely symptom free from my depression. I was able to get off of all the medication I was taking, which was exhilarating for me and helped me lose 65lbs. Weight that the medicine put on me. I think of my life on two timelines now, BNF (Before Neurofeedback) and ANF (After Neurofeedback) because the two are like night and day. The staff here is highly intelligent, dedicated, and compassionate. They made me feel very comfortable and were wonderful at explaining and guiding me through this process. I highly recommend their services to anyone struggling with depression and anxiety!
