I made two men's necklaces with beads from this store. The first one, I made in May 2018, cost me about $35 initially. I wanted it to be white and silver, so the staff showed me options of shell, bone and African gun metal. At first, the necklace was amazing, but after about 6 months of normal wear, the bone had turned yellow and the "silver" gun metal had turned copper, while the shell remained pure white. The yellow bone looked awful in contrast to the shell. In November 2018, when I took it to show the staff, they told me this was to be expected since those beads I had selected are natural. I was disappointed since the intent of the piece was to be white and silver, which I had told them during my initial purchase. To fix the piece, I asked for beads that would not change color. Without any offer of discount or compensation for the issue, I paid an additional $25 and got solid white stone, with stainless steel and had to dissemble and reassemble the necklace. During that same visit that I explained my disappointment about the white necklace, I asked for advice on making a black and silver piece, with a matching bracelet. I expressed my concern that I didn't want the beads to change color and asked for recommendations. I was shown glass beads. The staff explained to me that the glass beads are "coated" with color, but expressed that they are durable and as long as not worn in water, etc, would. I spent another approx $35 and got the black and silver glass beads. As I made the black and silver necklace and bracelet, I ran out of beads. I went back to the store and spent an additional $25 on more beads. It is now only four months later, and the coating of the beads has begun to peel off, revealing white underneath, as shown in the attached photos. I took the black and silver piece to show the staff. One girl remembered me as I reminded her of the issue I'd had with the white and silver piece. She basically told me it was "how my boyfriend was wearing the beads" that has caused the issue, while the other staff member told me "it was common sense not to use glass beads if I wanted it to last". As options to replace the peeling necklace, they showed me hematite stone and stainless silver beads. I wondered why they hadn't suggested this in the first place when I was there in November. I asked if I could leave the damaged necklace for the manager to see, and indicated that I wished to get the hematite and silver beads, otherwise the necklace and bracelet are useless. I requested that the manager consider giving me a discount for 2 strands of hematite beads ($22 each) plus 25 stainless steel beads ($1 each). The manager called a few days later and told me she had never "seen anything like it before and it must be the way my boyfriend had mishandled the necklace" but she would give me 10% off. What kind of customer service is this? I have spent a total of $121.49 on only TWO necklaces, and would have to spend an additional $70, and all you can offer me is $7 discount? Not to mention my time making and re-making the pieces, and the embarrassment of the gifts I had given to my boyfriend that seemed cheap and he gave back to me. Country beads, your staff are rude and un-helpful, and your management has very poor service values. I would not recommend anyone spends their money in your store.

I have to say I am extremely happy I made my first artist-quality paint investment here for those three reasons, and for the small-vendor service I get when I have questions. After consulting with the sole staff member on my first visit I picked up the 15-colour starter set for $60 plus a couple more tubes in larger sizes. Now every time I'm on Granville Island I just love spending a few minutes here where I'm sure to treat myself to a new colour; at $4-7 for a new 60ml tube it's good retail satisfaction value. The reduced selection compared to major acrylic brands is actually a relief to me; I am not bombarded by choice, and I can actually reach a point where there isn't more to collect (a good thing for me). I prefer them over all other costly and well known brands. When speaking to their customer service department I was treated professionally and kindly. The time between speaking to their representative (Jessica) on the phone to order my paints to having them delivered to my door - safely packaged- was a mere two days. I live in Alberta. For those who are wary, try out a few of their tubes and reserve judgment until after you have done so. I know you'll be happy with these paints.

Not sure what the negative, or even 3 or 4 star reviews are about…read more I don't come here often, but always visit when I come into the city and visit Granville Island. I always score impressive pendants, findings, and sterling silver bails/findings at a great price. Great, friendly service too, at amazing prices, especially for Granville Island/Kitsilano. I was looking for blue fire/flame labradorite pendants, and I looked everywhere but couldn't find anything remotely suitable under $100. Upon walking into Beadworks, there was a display of crystal pendants, and they had a few Labradorites for $22! I quickly grabbed one, when a staff showed me a nearby dish on a display with more similar pendants. I found a gorgeous square briolette labradorite pendant for $32! There are tons of gorgeous, handmade pieces in their front window, I asked and was surprised at their reasonable prices. I asked the staff about silver bails, requesting sterling silver, and then showed me a square bin of many, for $4 each. I left with 2 stunning pendants and a couple of bails for $50, half the price of 1 single pendant in nearby shops. Service was helpful and friendly, despite being VERY busy on a sunny Sunday Labour Day weekend. I've since bought a raw ruby pendant, more findings, so this is now my go-to for new pendants and supplies from now. I cannot recommend their selection, prices or service levels, highly enough!

As soon as we entered, we went directly to the ear-piercing section to choose earrings. The employee assigned to do the piercing stood there without even acknowledging us or offering any assistance. When I informed her that I had an appointment, she told me I was exactly "6 minutes and 24 seconds late" and therefore she would not perform the piercing. I was shocked by how rigid and dismissive this was. There was absolutely no attempt to accommodate us, show understanding, or provide any customer service whatsoever. Refusing service over a delay of just a few minutes, especially after a customer has made the effort to come in for a booked appointment, is unreasonable and incredibly frustrating. The lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic courtesy left a very negative impression. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I had a fabulous time at the Mejuri Piercing Studio! Thank you, Sarah, for your spectacular service…read more- from your patience as my friends and I chose our earrings, to your efficiency in getting us pierced, to your care in explaining the aftercare process. The three of us came in thinking we'd get one piercing each, and walked out with double the amount in the span of an hour! BOOKING: The process was quick and easy on the Mejuri website. No deposit is required, so you can rest easy if you do change your mind. Moreover, if you sign up for Mejuri's SMS+Email program, you can get 10% off towards your jewelry. Once you get to the studio, you can skip the line by letting them know about your appointment. STORE/STUDIO: Sleek, spacious, and sophisticated! There is a wide offering of jewelry to choose from, whether you're looking for dainty, more delicate pieces, or something with a bit more pop. The Piercing Studio is in a back room for privacy. SELECTION: The jewelry is more limited for in-store piercings, but they are all 14k white or yellow gold with threadless flat back titanium studs. You can choose from 8 types of piercings in the lobe and cartilage areas. (Note that for lobe piercings, healing will take at least 3 months, whereas for cartilage piercings, it is at least 6 months.) Prices currently range from $85 to $455. No matter how many piercings you get, the service fee will be $25 for your session (including a free check-up and post-downsizing) so you may find yourself easily tempted to get more like we did. PIERCING: If you're going with friends, I would recommend back-to-back sessions, so you can maximize your visit as the piercing itself is quite quick. We had ample time to select our jewelry and didn't feel rushed during our hour together. Sarah marked our ears to show where the jewelry would go and let us hold them up against our ears again to get an idea of placement. My only issue was that my helix piercing was slightly covered by my ear fold afterwards, though I plan to get a hoop later so I am not too fussed about it. The entire process was very efficient and sanitary, with gloves and sterilized, single-use equipment. Sarah also provided aftercare instructions, including purchasing Bactine and running warm water over our piercings during showers. Payment was done by tablet in the Piercing Studio, so there was no need to line up in the store which I appreciated.  Overall, I really enjoyed the whole experience and can fully understand why Mejuri is as popular as it is. I am already itching to go back for more piercings, but for now, these ears need some proper rest and recovery.
