If there was a way to leave a "zero" star I would have done that. My wife and I went there for breakfast. To be honest we were waiting on the CVS Pharmacy to open in the same little shopping center and decided to go over and eat breakfast. It had to have been the worst breakfast I have ever eaten in my life. Seriously, how do you make sausage patties inedible and bacon taste like it is 3 days old covered in grease. Man this place was great! We found it on our way to Boone and wow I'm so happy we stopped by here instead of fast food! My husband got the big burger and onion rings and I got the chicken tenders with mac n cheese and potato salad. The burger was really really great, one of our favorites now! But the onion rings man they were the best I've ever had! They were seasoned perfectly and the perfect amount of breading. The tenders were really tasty and huge! Seth and Michelle are great people , they put their heart and soul into their work . They have inside seating and a few picnic tables outside during warm weather. Waitresses are great and very helpful. Menu is great , they have country food and also seafood items (seasonal stuff also). Good prices that won't break you. Food was very good and service was cheerful and fast despite them clearly being understaffed at the moment. The menu is very extensive and had some stuff you wouldn't expect. The chicken and dumplings in particular were outstanding. My picky daughter who usually doesn't finish her food absolutely inhaled them. You seat yourself at this establishment. A waitress will promptly give you menus and take your order. Ordered the grilled scallops with a baked potato. Everything was hot and had good flavor. We stumbled upon this spot, and it is well worth a stop! Located next to an empty grocery store in a strip mall, this place might be short on atmosphere but it's long on quality! We both ordered the hand battered chicken strips along with two sides. The strips were wonderful! The menu didn't lie when it said they were made to order. Nothing frozen here. The mashed potatoes were real and just about perfectly creamy. No need for gravy. Also had the fried okra which was crisp and soft in all the right places. Rounded out the meal with great sweet tea. Excellent homemade southern food. I had their "famous" chicken tenders with delicious homemade applesauce. The chicken fingers are HUGE so unless you are super hungry or sharing I suggest the pate with two tenders. My husband had the chicken and dumplings and he was raving about it through the meal. Wonderful southern cooking!! Everything we had was made from scratch. Between my husband and I, we sampled the chicken and dumplings, green beans, mac and cheese, hushpuppies, pulled pork and onion rings (which were made to order). As a treat for dessert, we had the raspberry funnel cake fries but ended up taking them to go because we were so full! Also very reasonably priced and our server was amazingas well. Go!! Almost couldn't find this place as it's tucked back in the corner of a shopping center. Seems popular with the locals, as the tables were full the whole time we were there. My friends and I took a day trip to the NC Mountains. One of our destinations was Little Switzerland. Needless to say our plans got changed and we needed to find somewhere to get dinner before heading home. We found this place. We walked in and sat down, ordered our food. The drinks were brought out in bottles with cups of ice. I didnt like how the lady handled the cups by touching the tops of them. I also dont like how she handled my friend's side of mac n cheese and basically her palm was just about touching, if not touching the top of his mound of mac n cheese. Anyways, Our food was brought to the table. My potato wedges and my friend also got potato wedges, both servings were burnt and over cooked. My friends opened his party melt sandwich up so he could put mayo on it and a chunk of his bread had been pulled out of the slice. My first thought is there may have been mold on the bread and in order to use it without throwing it away, they picked that piece out and put it on the inside, figuring the sandwich wouldnt get opened up like that. I also got chicken tenders and the meat itself had a bit of a rubbery consistency to it. I'm not sure what caused that. When we got up to pay our bills, I was appalled to see how absolutely disgusting the kitchen area was. There was grease, paper towels and random trash on the floor. There was a huge white igloo cooler propped up and the drain on the cooler was over a drain in the kitchen floor and something was being drained out of the cooler. I'm not sure what it was though. The cooks didn't have hair nets or even gloves on. Also, there was no social distancing in the restaurant. Every booth had filled up by time we left. They didn't have any blocked off for social distancing purposes. I have worked in a restaurant before and this place should not be open for business at all. I honestly cant even see how they pass health inspection. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Absolutely disgusting in my opinion. read more
