Best breakfast and best price. Also best burger. Heck, best food in the area. Not a lot of tables so expect a wait. Good time, great food!

A…read morefriendly waitress brought our carafe of coffee and while Mrs. K. decided to order from the menu, I started on the buffet. Before I was back with my first plate, her French Toast arrived. A great selection of proteins on the steam table and a nice variety of the classic breakfast offerings. A big plate of scrambled eggs and I was able to add cheese sauce and mushrooms on one side of my plate. On the other, some sausage links (very overdone) and some sliced ham (extremely salty). Lots of other high carb options available including biscuits, pancakes, French toast sticks, cheese and plain grits, home fries and tots. Something that might have been fried chicken livers and also some pieces of fried chicken. A dessert bar with banana pudding, jellos and fruits was also available. The place is clean and the service was great, clearing dirty dishes and restocking coffee creamer. A satisfying meal for sure. [Review 542 of 2026 - 4637 in North Carolina - 25724 overall]

Food was very good, home cooking style, served hot and fresh. A good place to eat... when you come I highly recommend sitting in Tammy's section. She was ultra polite, just the right amount of attentive, and double checked my order was right before bringing it to the table (I know because she said they buttered my dry toast by mistake). Wow! You just can't find her kind of service very often. We'll definitely be back soon!!

The combination of attentive service, high-quality steaks, and a standout bourbon selection makes it a spot worth seeking out in Valdese.[1][2][3] ## Service and Hospitality Austin provided friendly, knowledgeable service, with spot-on recommendations and consistent follow-up throughout the meal, which really elevated the evening. The staff quickly seated the party of four and acknowledged the celebration for the wife's birthday, helping the night feel special from the start. When one filet needed a bit more sear, the owner personally stepped in, oversaw the re-fire, and had it returned to the table cooked perfectly. That level of ownership and responsiveness showed real commitment to **hospitality**. ## Food and Preparation Entrées arrived beautifully plated and cooked to appropriate temperatures, which is especially important at a butcher-driven concept known for its meats. The corrected filet came back with the ideal sear and doneness, reinforcing confidence in the kitchen's skill.[2][1] Portioning and presentation aligned with expectations for a farm-to-table steakhouse, highlighting the quality of their locally sourced meats.[3][1] ## Bourbon Library The bourbon library is a major highlight, offering an impressive selection of hard-to-find bottles that adds a distinctive draw for whiskey lovers. It pairs perfectly with their meat-focused menu and makes Highlands Butchery feel like a destination, not just a neighborhood spot.[4][1][2] Having such depth behind the bar also supports Austin's recommendations, allowing guests to explore pours they may not encounter elsewhere. ## Atmosphere and Noise The only real drawback of the evening was the room volume, which made conversation a bit challenging at times. Given how popular and lively the space can be, some additional noise baffles or acoustic treatments could help deaden the sound and make the dining room more comfortable without losing the energetic vibe. With that one improvement, this experience would easily move from a 4.5 to a full 5 out of 5, especially given the strength of the service, food, and bourbon program!

Upon arrival on a Saturday morning a nice young man quickly seated us at a table and said "your waitress will be right with you". And it went straight downhill from there. To set the stage, besides my wife and I there were two other couples ... so 6 people at 3 tables. 2 waitresses and it looked like 5 more people at the bar and in the kitchen. The employees outnumbered the customers. We sat and looked over the menu. Choices looked INCREDIBLE!! One waitress was covering each of the other two tables. So they each had one. We waited in excess of ten minutes and no one even acknowledged our existence. No "I'll be right with you". No "what would you like to drink?" No "let me get you some waters" We watched our waitress passed right by us no less than five times (her other table was right next to ours). The last time, when she went behind the bar and started sipping a drink and looked right at us ... we got up and left. Now everyone is allowed to have a bad day. And we will go back and give them a second chance and will gladly change this 1 star rating. But this is a small family run restaurant in a building that has been dozens of other things over the years. Reasonable customer service is a must. And not speaking to customers at all is unacceptable. So we'll go back and try again and we're hoping this is a one off and this restaurant is very successful.
