Love this little spot in Montreat for a quick lunch. Newly renovated, along with strong wifi.

I tried to go back this year, and am so appalled by the customer service (or lack thereof) that I will now give it 0 stars, so settled for two since I can't do two and a half. Yes, the food and ambiance were wonderful in 2025. I tried to book another afternoon tea party and called a month and a half in advance. This was to celebrate multiple birthdays with a group of busy moms so wanted to get it on the calendar. No one called me back despite the voicemail saying that we would hear back "promptly." I left two more messages in a span of two, three weeks and still nothing. I even emailed, no response. Finally, a friend stopped by in person and was told that the cafe would be short staffed the weekend we wanted the reservation for so the manager needs to see if there are enough people working before confirming. Okay....but why wouldn't you call back to tell me that? Our requested reservation is tomorrow and I still have not heard back from anyone. This is abysmal customer service. As mentioned, food was good but not good enough to treat potential customers like this. Hard pass from now on and will not go back or recommend. *Editing to respond to Victoria -- those were the dates I called and left voicemails. Perhaps there was a phone issue on your end, but I did not even get a missed call. My friend who stopped by in person spoke to a manager. She had to go by twice due to the manager not being available the first time. I also did not get an email response.

Not only was the decor and aesthetic inviting and so detailed but the food was delicious and the service amazing (Jade). We went all out with cauliflower bisque, two different teas and scones (The Hobbit and The Highlander teas), a blueberry cobbler cheesecake and a limoncello. Every part of the meal was delicious. We absolutely will be back and can't wait to try the other teas. We also were able to take the leftovers for our tea pots and this makes me so excited! So many great bookish references -- it made my nerd heart happy

I figured a coffee shop might serve up better internet anyway, and I wasn't wrong. The morning crew was bustling but friendly, quickly selling me a cup for the self-serve station and pointing me toward the stairs. The ground floor is cozy and compact, but they've got a second level that opens things up nicely. I chose the light roast labeled 'Autumn Honduras,' which turned out to be a fabulous pick ‐ bright, smooth, and just what I needed. I added a modest splash of cream, climbed the stairs, and found a quiet spot to settle in. I spent a solid hour up there, sipping slowly and sketching out the next leg of my journey through the mountains. It's a genuinely comfortable space, with enough warmth and quiet to make a full workday feel entirely doable. You could easily lose track of time here, and I wouldn't blame you one bit. There is street parking nearby, and this place is always hopping. This place makes me think of a southerner's take on a French bakery. Absolutely gorgeous on the inside with decadent sweets to choose from, while also featuring classics like a Swiss roll or a cream puff. They also offer breakfast/brunch/lunch, as well as made to order cakes. (Their coconut cake is award-winning). We came in recently and got a BLT, chicken salad on croissant (with watermelon salad), quiche, cream puff, lemon Swiss roll, and lattes. The sandwiches were all delicious and this was my first time trying watermelon salad - fresh and perfect to accompany the sandwiches. Their quiches are large and filling - perfect on their own for breakfast. For lattes, we got a vanilla latte, and then their July 4th special, which had strawberry and white chocolate in it - the July 4th specialty latte was decadent - if you like sweet, you should give it a try. All in all, I think we paid $50ish for our meal. This spot is a must if you're in the area!

Not like the typical artificial banana flavoring you'd find in a candy. It was sweetened just enough and topped with little vanilla wafer pieces. We were only inside for a short period of time, but this was a really cute place with comfy seating and a calm, quiet vibe. Staff were friendly and efficient. The only thing that could have made my drink better would have been more ice, but then I would have less of my delicious beverage, so I can't really complain.

We arrived at around 7:15 am and were greeted by two regulars hanging out front with their dogs, which meant that Mrs. K. got her morning dog fix before we even made it inside. That set a great tone for a good day. The welcome inside was warm in the small town way that feels genuine instead of forced, just easy smiles and a quick hello as I ordered. It was rather quiet when we arrived but the folks seemed to start pouring in as we sipped our coffees. My cortado was excellent even if it was in a paper cup. Mrs. K. was happy with her latte which is the proper test. We lingered a bit, enjoying the quiet and watching Black Mountain wake up around us before getting back on the road. A great little stop just off I-40 and a perfect start for the day. Five stars! [Review 540 of 2026 - 4635 in North Carolina - 25722 overall]
