Honestly the best and cleanest food in east dearborn. Always my go to spot for mediterranean food in dearborn.

Visited for lunch last month and wasn't impressed at all. When we walked in, every table except for one had not been bussed clean. By the time we left, only two tables had been cleared. Hire a busser, first and foremost. Walking into a dirty restaurant doesn't make for the best first impression. Sitting in it for forty-five minutes only lowers that impression. Our waitress was nice. This place is pretty pricey compared to a lot of restaurants around here. A lunch special was around $15 and came with entree, rice, and soup or salad. We ordered the deboned chicken lunch with rice and chicken lemon rice soup. My husband also got a lunch fattoush salad. Soup and salad came up quick. I really enjoyed the CLR soup. It was light and tangy and full of chicken. My husband loved his fattoush salad. Our entree came up not long after. The chicken, while plentiful, was way overcooked. The rice was warn in some spots and cold in others and had random crunchies throughout. Not good. A request for lemon helped the chicken, as did the garlic paste (toum) but still, it shouldn't have come out that dry to begin with. I think my favorite part of the meal was the fresh bread and toum. I probably won't be coming back. I much prefer the service and food at Baba's Grill when I'm looking for a lunch spot. read more

Had a team lunch. There are some booths when you enter, but a slightly bigger room next to the main area. We were seated at the back of the restaurant. I recalled the dining area and being here a couple of times before, it's been a while since I was last here. We ordered two whole chicken, which comes with two sides, 2 hummus, lentil soup and a falafel sandwich for the group. Was enough food for our group and some leftovers to go too. 3% charge for using a credit card. Do people often use cash here then. I don't recall being charged a credit card fee in the past here. We had plenty of big pita pockets and garlic sauce. Can't have a Lebanese or middle eastern meal without pita, hummus or garlic sauce, right? Chicken was nicely seasoned, it's quite flattened and was a tad burned on the edges though. There was about 5-6 breast of chicken per plate. Still not bad. The falafel sandwich wasn't too bad, the falafel could have been more crispy for my team member. The lentil soup was decent, so was the side of rice. The fattoush with pita chips wasn't super popular with the team, team was more focused on the chicken, rice and hummus. Service was good for us throughout, attentive. read more

We have been coming here for years, it's my first time writing a review for Country Kitchen/ Country Chicken (I've seen both names for this place). This visit we ordered chicken Shawarma and shish tawook sandwiches, fattoush, the vegetarian grape leaves and a baby hummus. I like when you're seated, they bring out garlic sauce and bread (fresh baked pita). The vegetarian grapes leaves were good, as was the hummus and the always fresh and delicious fattoush. The chicken Shawarma sandwiches were good as well, I had mine on French bread (give it a try sometime). Sometimes the service is slow, they get a lot of carryout orders. read more

I have been a fan of this restaurant since 2003 when I moved to the area. They still have my favorite soft pillowy bread, served with complimentary tuum, and it's an amazing start to any meal! I stopped in for lunch this past week, and I'm glad to report that it's still awesome. I had lemon rice soup and a lunch chicken shawarma with hummous. The chicken was tender, the hummous is more flavorful than most, and the soup was excellent. It was more food than I could eat for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend the food here, and the place is comfortable and relaxing. The only reason this wasn't a 5-star review was that the service was mediocre. We were told to sit wherever we want - and then waited about 5 minutes for someone to bring us menus. When we were done eating, it took so long to get our check/bill (we were sitting there twiddling our thumbs for about 10 minutes) that I took the rare step, which I feel very awkward and rude doing, of going up to the cash register and asking the host to find our waitress and ask her to bring us our check. Business lunch service needs to be quick and snappy, and our server seemed to be taking more of a leisurely pace. But this is a minor qualm for an excellent restaurant with fantastic food, and it wouldn't be an issue for someone coming in for a relaxing dinner without a time crunch. read more

This was a great place to check out! We chose to dine in, but it was insanely busy the entire time with takeout orders! I've never seen so much foot traffic in and out of a restaurant while I was eating, so clearly this place is busy. The food was great! We decided to order the Country Plate and share it, to get a variety of food. It came with Shish tawook, shish kabob, meat kafta, 2 grape leaves, 2 falafel, 2 fried kibbee, meat and chicken shawarma, rice, hommous and salad. Plus, they give you the delicious hot bread with garlic sauce! It was so much food, for such a good price. We really enjoyed most of the food! The service was good, too. Great humus and a really friendly staff One of my favorite places to get lunch during work. I love when they have fresh bread available.

We dropped in for a quick lunch during a busy workday. The parking lot was full; we snagged the last spot. Inside, large groups occupied booths that lined both sides of the dining area. Since it was lunch, we went with the specials. I had the grilled beef shish kebab which came with rice and salad. I only had a bite of the rice (carbs); it was unbelievably flavorful, fluffy, not mushy. But I avoided the pita bread, which took willpower because they were warm and fluffy and almost exactly how I like them. The salad was fresh and lightly coated in vinaigrette. The baba ghanoush side had a robust, grilled flavor and creamy, fantastic texture. It is no wonder that this is my favorite Middle Eastern side. Service was quick and friendly. This has become my go-to, default place for Middle Eastern food - mostly because it's quick, close to home, and you get good bang for your buck. And, as many other people have mentioned... that bread is the bomb. Usually we are able to walk in and be seated right away. I have never come here and not been able to get a table immediately! We come here for dinner fairly often. I must admit that I usually get the same thing: a sandwich and side of soup or fattoush. I find that this combination for me is filling, delicious, and pretty inexpensive! If I were exceptionally hungry, I would consider trying one of the vegetarian combo platters as well. The falafel isn't the moistest falafel I've ever had, but it's tasty and makes for a good wrap. I sometimes go for the chicken shawarma or even the hummus and tabbouli wrap, both of which I enjoy as well. The lentil soup is always a good choice - make sure to add a little sploosh of the lemon they give on the side! And if you order a small fattoush, be aware that it is actually not very small. We were able to share it between two of us, and then the leftovers were still enough to share between two people the next day! Finally, I'll end with the best thing about Country Restaurant: that bread. Everybody is talking about it in their reviews, and it's mentioned for a reason. It's fresh, soft, and I kind of like that it's thick bread and not thin like a pita. Pita will always make me happy, but there's something about the bread and garlic here that makes the meal for me. And, fear not: it's still excellent if you heat up the leftovers next-day! It would hurt my heart to leave that leftover bread on the table. :) read more

A co-worker recommended Country Chicken so a group of us went for lunch. First thing to know is that the name is, um, confusing. As you can see from the menu pix I posted, 'Country' serves traditional 'Middle Eastern' food. Apparently, the location was originally called 'Country Chicken' and the current owner decided to retain part of the name. In any case . . . When we walked in, two things hit me: 1) The air is full of smell of wonderful food. 2) This is an 'old school' restaurant -- which I like. They were relatively busy but we were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and quickly brought the bread that reviewers rave about along with the extra garlic sauce we requested. Both seemed 'homemade' -- bread soft and warm, garlic sauce tasty without being too strong. We placed orders mainly from the lunch specials menu. Starters -- salads, soups, etc. -- arrived quickly and entrees presently. Again, everything seemed fresh and homemade. IMO, both soup and salad dressing were a bit too salty. I ordered boneless chicken. Serving was two skinless breasts. They were well seasoned and and relatively moist if a bit charred at the thin ends. Overall, the group was well satisfied with Country's food and service. Parking is interesting. We arrived early enough to get a space in what Google maps identifies as '13648-13698 Colson St Parking' which is just South of the restaurant. THE FRESH BREADDDDDD OHH MY! The food here is really cooked well and they are very generous. Grilled and seasoned so nicely. Everything also tastes fresh. Did I mention the BREAD ALREADY?! Beautiful fresh baked bread aa opposed to the typical pita bread. ALSO, the prices are very reasonable (actually cheaper compared to other similar restaurants in the area). The place tho is kind of dark inside but I do not mind it. Our waitress was kind in serving us as well. We got the combo platter for 2 which came with hummus, fattoush, rice and several meat options. Very Disappointing! 8 of us dropped by to pick up some food as we were heading far to Toronto ON. After ordering food, we changed our mind and wanted to sit and eat. The restaurant sitting was at 25% of its capacity with too many tables and chairs empty!!! Surprisingly, we were asked to eat outside and not to sit as this was the rule of the restaurant!!! We were not provided with a receipt/order number after paying the bill, hence some orders got confused and got mixed up with others, another order was missing an item and we had to let them know before they get it done! Wanted to give a feedback to one of the employee and she just ignored my request saying that she is not concerned. Small French fries is a very large portion that cost almost same as a sandwich! While waiting for all the orders, we ended up eating standing. We were told it's the business policy. They knew we are just passing by, and they didn't care much! One young employee was making inappropriate body language while working on the orders. Humus was good, French frise poor, shawarma was pieces of meat, not real shawarma! This is the best hands down Lebanese lunch place in Dearborn. I've tried a bunch, always trying to find something that beats this place. They all beat this place on name (Country Chicken, really?) but never on food. As other reviewers have mention the baked bread is great, fresh out of the oven... sometimes they don't have it and they give you that pita stuff in the bag, don't take it!! it will spoil your lunch. Same goes for take-out, you have to order the fresh baked bread on the side, otherwise they just give you the bag pita bread. Garlic is good, try to make sure you don't have mtgs after lunch, your co-workers will thank you. Best food, fattoush salad with Chicken shawarma. That stuff is addictive. I used to have it 3-4 times a week for dinner, it was cheap and yummy, great combination. Other food to try, chicken shawarma sandwich for lunch. A coworker told me about this place and am I ever glad she did. There are many great Lebanese restaurants in Dearborn, but what stands out here are the round oval freshly baked pita you are served along with a dish of garlic sauce. Both times I've gone, I've ordered the chicken Shawarma lunch and both times it's been great so I see no need to deviate yet. Used to come here frequently since like 2007 except the last couple years. Got carry out today and I agree with the other reviewers, something has changed and I don't think the food is fresh. I ordered a fattoush, baba, a dozen mini pita breads, and garlic sauce. First of all, like another reviewer said, the garlic sauce was lumpy, separated, and... Didn't taste like garlic??? See my picture. Was it old garlic sauce they gave me since it started to separate? the garlic sauce went immediately in the trash. At least it was only $2. Made me question my entire meal. The bread wasn't warm (aka not fresh), which I guess is not that big of a deal since it was carry out, BUT they gave me 8 pieces of bread not 12 -_- again at least it only cost $2. After both speculating the bread and garlic sauce was old, I feel like the baba tasted off and the fattoush salad looked like it had soggy old pieces of lettuce in it. But maybe that's just in my head... The fattoush dressing is still very good, lemony, and full of flavor, so maybe in the future the only thing I will order from here is salad dressing... Or maybe I'll never come back. I would rather not waste $20 again. I'm honestly kind of afraid to eat the food. This review is about lunch, and Country Chicken is one of those places I try and avoid. Not because the food is bad, but rather my self control for the bread is. As Aaron N. mentions, the bread in a bag sucks.. I could avoid that without a problem! Unfortunately he didn't have their fabulous brick oven pita, and that likely sent his review into a tail spin. The restaurant for years was a dive on the inside, but they gave out free bread & garlic dip. It's since been nicely remodeled a few years ago, and while it is a lot more appealing visually, they took away the freebies too!! Generally I find this cuisine hard to rate in the Dearborn area, being that the genre is a relatively level playing field. I've eaten at a half dozen different places in the Dearborn area over the past 15 years, and think that Country edges them out. This isn't to say that they win on all counts, but my lunch criteria is this.. Fattoush Salad w/ Chicken Shawarma Garlic Sauce & baked pita and occasionally... Chicken Shawarma sandwich Chicken Shawarma lunch Hummous Tabboulli There are two types of "garlic" dips I've had. Both will give you dragon breath, but CC's sauce is the milder of the two and far more delicious then some that only serve the over potent paste. (La Shish) Fattoush isn't something that will be dramatically different from place to place. CC's is consistent, not overdressed & fresh. What truly sets this place apart is their Chicken Shawarma. Out of the 30+ times I've eaten here, the shawarma has never disappointed. I will admit, it easily wins for the worst name for a middle eastern restaurant, it's food however and peticularly their chicken shawarma, will make you think of the name fondly. 4 stars given mainly due to bread being too tempting to stop eating. ;^) read more

When my Lebanese friend from Dearborn suggested Country Chicken (aka Country Restaurant) as our dinner spot, I was skeptical. It certainly doesn't sound like a destination for fresh, warm pita and plentiful vegetarian dishes. Within minutes of being seated, I knew I was in the right place. A basket of warm pita and creamy garlic sauce immediately distracted us from the day's worries, and the extensive menu made it easy to accommodate everyone's tastes and dietary needs. We ordered family-style, which was absolutely the right call; everything was so delicious that you can't help wanting to taste four or five things! I was especially impressed by the baba ghanouj and falafel. I would consider driving from A2 to Dearborn just for those two dishes. We also enjoyed the salads and garlicky roasted potatoes. Everything was served quickly and at the right temperature, and the prices were great (stuffed our faces and had a full bag of leftovers for $14pp, including tax and tip!). It's casual and family-friendly, there's parking at the end of the block, and we felt perfectly welcome to linger over our meal--never rushed to finish and pay. I came here to have dinner one night by myself. All I have to say is I was approached and encountered by a homeless man that was allowed into the building by the staff members. I was too disturbed I did not even bother to finish the rest of my meal and still paid for my food out of respect. This was our final stop before going back to Chicago. I'd definitely come back here. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and got our food to us within 20min. I personally loved the grilled chicken entree. I ended up ordering food for my family to bring back with me to Chicago as well and my family loved it. They're entrees are a bit pricey tho. read more

Anyone who knows me knows it doesn't take much to convince me to go out for Middle Eastern Food (hereafter referred to as MEF) . In this case it was my friend linking me the Yelp review for this place that he likes and seeing a 4 star review for it. The final straw (yes I know, it only took TWO straws) was my sister mentioning hummous in her Facebook status. For me that's the equivalent of a shove in the back from God (Allah?) himself, so off I went. Food, to me, is sometimes like a Football game. There are winners and losers. There are big plays, and gutsy moves. It hurts, but I'm gonna come right out and say that this was the worst MEF I've had in Dearborn. And that's not really THAT huge of a knock on the food, it wasn't THAT bad, but in DEARBORN, you gotta step it up to play with the big boys. Dearborn is a BRUTAL division to play in and there are SO many incredible teams that it doesn't take much to get eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. I'm simple in my analysis when it comes to MEF, but you really have to do 3 things right to win the coveted Aaron N. Cup. Of course there are other important pieces to having game in the MEFL but if you don't start with these three key plays you'll be hitting the bathhouse faster than you can say "They don't play American Football in Lebanon". 1. Good Bread 2. Good Hummous (or hummus, or hommous, or homous, or homouse, or hhuummuuss, or... well, you get the picture. However you spell it, just make it right) 3. Good Chicken Country Chicken failed on all three counts. Let's look at the game tape and see where they dropped the ball. The bread (DUD DUN DUUUUNNNN!!!) came in a bag. Dry, thin, tasteless, pita. Even the best team in Dearborn (Habib's Cuisine) doesn't get a free pass with their bread and got downranked for its lackluster performance. The hummous didn't TASTE, LOOK, or FEEL like hummous. This is like telling your quarterback to go wash your Escalade when the game is about to start. When I describe this hummous all my color commentary can come up with is "It's like eating sour cream with artificial chick pea flavoring added." It was too smooth, almost white in appearance, and had very little of the savory thickness that is the hallmark of GOOD hummous. I've had better stuff from a grocery store. It was also topped with just a meager sprinkling of parsley and paprika. Lastly the chicken. The chicken may have helped this team limp into the playoffs, but I really couldn't judge. I ordered the special which was "Cilantro Chicken". I thought "Hey that sounds different." Well, if you call it Cilantro Chicken you should probably be able to actually taste cilantro. And you should also probably be able to SEE the chicken. Unfortunately mine was submerged in a veritable soaking tub of garlic cream sauce with mushrooms. I had to root around for the chicken medallions like a football player in a pile going for a loose ball. Being smothered in sauce meant I couldn't really judge its quality as chicken. It was all sauce. All the taste was overpowered by it and I tasted very little of the cilantro or chicken. A few role players also didn't contribute much. The lighting was harsh and uninviting. Sorry, they may be politically correct, but compact flourescents make food look dead. Also, the rice was lacking in flavor and the salad was just all right. A few bright spots were the decor, which was kitschy but nice. Some of the best wall murals in the business (and they LOVE those wall murals in the MEFL). The ones on the ceiling were especially nice and well done. Like a night time and morning sky. The waitress I had was also very nice and the service was prompt. Lastly, the sauce on the chicken itself wasn't bad. It WAS very garlicky, but I like garlic. It had good flavor but there was just too much of it. In the end all the positives add up to, essentially, having a good kicker. If you are the Lions, it just doesn't mean much. I really struggled to come up with a ranking. I feel bad giving 2 stars, but in reality, I came away from this match-up disappointed, and I can't in good conscience give a three star ranking to a team that disappointed me. Maybe I went in with high expectations, but when you can't nail those three main plays in this game you are destined for failure. Step it up Country Chicken. I pledge allegiance, to my Country Chicken/Inn/Restaurant/Kitchen (or whatever that sign translates to). It's finally happened! The Country has been discovered by Yelpers! I knew it was bound to happen. This place was my hidden gem in Dearborn. I have gorged myself on the bread and garlic sauce for many years now, and that really is the highlight of the meal for me. The garlic sauce is very fresh tasting with a hint of sweetness and a dash of citrus. I once asked the cashier guy what ingredients are used in the sauce. His response was a hearty laugh as in "there is no chance I will ever tell you". The mini pitas they serve with every lunch combo come out fresh baked and still warm from the oven, and are the perfect conduit for the garlic sauce. The remainder of the menu consists of high quality middle eastern fare up there with the best of the Dearborn lunch establishments. Competition is fierce for those lunch time diners, but this place is consistently busy and they seem to bring in a wide variety of clientele. read more

Country Chicken (or as the sign out front says, Country "something in Arabic that I can't read") is my FAVORITE middle eastern restaurant!!!! Their hummus and tahini are amazing, as is their garlic sauce. While I don't normally like falafel, at Country Chicken the falafel is moist and delicious! I also love the pickled radishes. I recommend ordering the combination platter for 1 (which can easily feed 3) with fatoush, rice and extra garlic sauce. read more

They have gone downhill big time. It use to be my family's favorite place to celebrate birthdays. We went here on 4/22/18 to celebrate my Grandmother's 95th Birthday. The food came we had to ask for simple things like serving utensils and pita bread. Then people started to notice a chemical taste in their water. To top it off they started snaking the toilets right around the corner from were we sat. Now one by one members of my family that were in attendance are getting sick. (food poisoning sick). That's the last straw. We're never going back. So gross. (not to mention that they automatically charge 15% gratuity without even telling you. We usually always give 20% or more. Stopped in here recently for a lunch of epic proportions. Started with the excellent rendition on baba ghanoush to accompany the freshly baked bread. For me, it's the winner over hummous wherever I go. Followed up with the lentil soup (perfectly acceptable on a cold winter day) and the downright awesome deboned chicken over the fatoosh. Chicken perfectly cooked and flavorful. Then, was brought out the chicken schwarma for a little compare and contrast. As good as the de-boned was, schwarma with all the crispy edges was even better. Finally made my way to Dearborn for a Middle Eastern food adventure and the first stop was Country. It may have an odd name for a Middle Eastern restaurant, and it's name on Yelp (which is not the name on the sign) would lead you to think that the place specializes in fried chicken. I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich with a side a tabouli. The sandwich was one of the best i've had of this variety and the tabouli was excellent as well. The pita was light and fluffy, and paired extremely well with the whiter than white garlic sauce. I wish I had a place like this closer to home, but at least I know where to get Middle Eastern food when I am in Detroit. read more

Something has changed here since my last visit... about 1 year ago. CONS #1. The famous garlic sauce lacked any garlic flavor. ??? It was swimming in oil and very separated. #2. Water and napkins. Asked 3 times...finished the meal dry and we shared a napkin. #3. Rice was wet and bland. #4. Meat was tender but where did that killer flavor go? #5. Service is poor. We didn't get water or napkins after 3 requests. We sat fo 20 minutes after completing our meal before the waitress came back and then we waited another 10 before she came back with our bill and boxes. No one else willing to help? Walked in here a couple minutes before close, thinking they closed in an hour. None of the employees gave us an attitude about it. We didn't even realize they were closing until after we were seated. We wanted to get up because we felt bad and they were super friendly about it and insisted we stay. The food came out quickly and was amazing!!!! I had a tabouli with a side of hummus with meat shawarma on top! I like to order the tabouli with grilled chicken and feta before work and take it with me and it is always consistent. Had lunch here today. Went with the chicken shawarma lunch special. Comes with choice of hummus or rice and choice of salad or soup. I went with the hummus and salad. Fattoush salad came first - enjoyed it. While pre-dressed, wasn't drowning in salad dressing like many other fattoush salads around Dearborn. Wasn't too biting either. Next came entree with hummus on same plate plus a side of garlic sauce and a basket of freshly baked bread/pita. Hummus was silky smooth - amazing texture. Wished it had a little more flavor though. Ok - This restaurant was recommended by a friend, and one plus was it was close to work. 1. If you try and place a carry out, I tried for a half hour, and no one picked up the phone.....if someone can tell me the secret that would be great. I got there, and stood around like a fool, you walk into an area where there are tables and people hanging out...fnd out after the fact I guess this is seating for the carry out customers....was going to sit, but the servers kept rushing past me, so off I go back to the carry out line. I get to the counter, place my order (asking for fresh bread). I'm sitting waiting, expecting them to let me know when the order is done (they don't ask for your name when you pay).....waited a short time, when a server came out to ask me if I was taken care of....she goes to the counter and looks for my order and lo and behold its sitting there....all in all 15 minutes from start to finish....guess I hit the lunch rush.... I didn't get the fresh bread, got the bagged stuff - wasn't thrilled with that..so 1st strike - .was really looking forward to the raved about fresh hot bread. The meat fattoush salad was ok - I like my lamb a bit crispier and there was hardly any toasted pita in the salad...this wasn't that seasoned.
