Me and our family have ordered here since 2013, unfortunately today they have lost a very loyal customer. We ordered 3 farooj plus hummus, fatoosh and 2 fries. each farooj is 23.99 just to be dry? My mom specifically told them we don't want the chicken dry AGAIN because the same thing keeps happening. She called back after we received our food and the hummus is like water and the chicken is dry barley edible. My mom is a very kind lady on the phone, the owner did not even offer to remake the order or tell us to bring back the chicken for new ones. He told us if we don't chose to be a customer here that's our choice and the chicken is not burned! Wow!! So disappointing. The quality of food has went down over the years, but the prices have gone up. I will be going to hamido from now on, I never have issues with them, and their farooj is $18 compared to this place 23.99 and still old and dry. Bad customer service, bad quality food. Very upsetting for us but it is what it is. This business cheats with their food, the hummus is like water!!! It is not even thick anymore with how much water they put in it!! read more

The food is very well done and everything always comes out tasting fresh. They do a fantastic job at outputting meals that taste authentic but also filling. I gave this review a 4/5 for a reason that can definitely be fixed in a quick manner and will definitely update this as time goes on. 1) When placing a phone order expect your time to be a little longer than what was said. Well, I'm just going to join everyone else who gives this place a high rating. The food is absolutely outstanding. We tried the kibbeh footballs- still wish one of these middle eastern places would make it like Situ did...in a big, worn, old pan in the oven. But I will take it however I can (unless I make it!). Meat is ground smooth and it has visible onions in it. I pine (get it?) for the days we could get pine nuts in it but I understand...when even Costco sells a pound of pine nuts for $25. Sigh! Flavor was good, seasoning perfect. Dipped in their tahini or toom garlic sauce (no eggs- hurray!), a perfect side snack. They happened to be short a couple of kibbeh footballs, so they subbed a bunch of their homemade (and delicious) falafels. These are the best falafel I have had since Jerusalem Garden in Ann Arbor. I dunked them into the tahini and just enjoyed their fried goodness. Nice balance of chick pea to fava bean flavor and does not taste like a mix. The meat kefta is huge! Just a piece is good for a meal. It comes with a big side of turmeric and cinnamon-spiced rice, homemade pickles (wonderful) and some fresh, chopped parsley and vegetables. What a great lunch. The chicken kebob is char grilled, moist, perfect flavor. Like the best grilled chicken you ever had. Also side of rice, etc. Addictive! Make sure you get a big container of toom garlic sauce to take home. You will put that stuff on everything! They give you bags of soft local-made pita bread and plastic forks in sleeves to dig in on the way home. You will have food for days. Unassuming outside and don't be thrown by the American style menu. They kind of do both here but you know where their heart is, firmly in the middle eastern heritage food. Good job, Alagha!! So I decided to try this place out since I moved here a few years ago and it's down the block. Walked in to a unhappy and sad looking cashier that just turns you off when you begin to order your meal into a new restaurant that you're excited to try for the first time. Seriously, smile to customers when they come in. How can you screw up a shawarma? The chicken was so dry and tasted like it's been there for days. Smothering the sandwich in garlic sauce trying to mask it made it even worse (even tho I love garlic sauce and can eat it all day). The beef shawarma was flavorless and again smothered in garlic sauce with seems like old tomatoes and lettuce. Did you run out of salt? How can you also mess up frozen fries? Deep fry fries and throw some salt on them. That's it. The chicken sub was OK. It was edible but nothing special. Food/ingredients seemed old and not fresh at ALL. First, don't be scared by the shady look of this place as well as the $2.99 specials advertised-we all agreed, the food here is good! There are lots of sandwich options to choose from and tasty options that vary it up so it's not just your regular shawarma or tawook sandwiches.. I chose the chicken shawarma sandwich lebanese style-which comes with fries, Lebanese cole slaw and delicious garlic paste. I splurged and got the French bread for $1 more! (I don't know why restaurants that charge $2.99 for a sandwich kinda scare me-but they do?!?) woah-was I surprised, this sandwich was really good. The curly fries were good and the regular fries were good! We also ordered the children's chicken strips which were also good...tasted like real chicken. So I'm a fan of the $2.99 sandwich place! I had heard a lot about this place from some friends and neighbors who have become their regulars and always say how good their grilled chicken is. I ordered 2 chicken shawarmas to go and it was done in perfect timing. The chicken was a little dry but it was doing great in the flavor and garlic department! The hummus was ALL tahini vs garbanzo beans, gross. I ordered a philly sub and that was awful too. All mayo, soggy lettuce, barely any beef. Such a disappointment. Seriously not edible. This spot is a hole in the wall type place, I heard good things about it. I had to try it. I ordered 2 whole chickens with fatoush, humus and rice. The chicken and humus were flavorless. The fatoush was very bland as if you threw all the vegetables roughly chopped it. Until now Alagha was just a shawarma pick up spot for me. I thought of it as a convenient option given the price and close proximity. But it all changed the day I decided to order their grilled chicken special. It was then I realized they are GREAT at traditional Lebanese food! Everything tasted better than other Arab restaurants in the Heights. If you know Dearborn Heights you will know that a lot of Arab restaurants pop up from time to time but don't survive due to the might of Hamidos and Al Ameer. Alagha is a hidden gem and has already developed its own customer base. I'll definitely be eating here more often. My only suggestion would be to skip the subs and go for the more traditional mid eastern entrees or platters. read more

The day that I walked into Golden Chicken, I had a real hankering for fried chicken. O.K. surprise. They only have roasted chicken. That works. I really like roasted chicken, also. The girl ( I believe restaurateur's daughter ) behind the counter began ringing my order-up but she received a text. This was much more important than her customer and she spent a couple mins texting whomever back-and-forth. When she was done with that, she finally took my money. The restaurateur put my order together fairly quick. The girl went to put my order together but received, yet another text. My food that was ready and sitting on the table behind the counter, went sitting on the counter for another five minutes while she had a text fest. She managed to pack my take-away order up and give it to me. Shock - Not even a Thank you :-( Now, for the food part. On my way home, the chicken smelled really great. Couldn't wait to get home. The day was beautiful and decided to have dinner outside on the deck. The chicken - Just average. Nothing special about it. Little taste. I will compare it to the roasted chicken that you get from Sam's club. The garlic sauce was good. Chicken plus garlic sauce saved average tasting chicken. Although, you should not have to disguise roasted chicken with a sauce. I have not tried any of their other cuisine. I come here a lot for take out for me & the roomy. It's haalal and all these guys do is roast chicken ALL DAY LONG! The birds are super tasty and the texture is good (i.e. non dry). Their sandwiches rock or you can just get the whole bird and tear it apart with some pita. The location is kinda 'special' but the plus side is they have their own parking lot.
