I bought a brand new computer from this retailer about 4 months ago. 3 weeks ago the computer would…read morenot turn on. I brought it in to have it looked at and the man working that night told me it was "fried". He then proceeded to tell me he could get me a brand new one of the same model free of charge, but did not have one in stock. He also said if i wanted to get a different computer he would give me what i payed in trade toward a better one. A woman that works there called me the next day to talk about prices and what I would have to pay after being given "trade in value" for my now useless laptop. We discussed a few options and I told her what i specifically wanted. She then told me she would have to call me back the next day to give me a final quote. I received a call the next afternoon, the woman told me they had talked about my computer that morning in a meeting. She explained to me that they could no longer give me a new computer or give me what i payed for it on trade but they could send the computer in to the manufacturer to have it fixed, which would take about a month. Appalled at what i was being told i asked the woman why they where going back on what they had already promised me. She insultingly told me that if i were to buy a car and three months later didn't like the stereo i couldn't just simply trade it in for a new car. I believe her thinking was that I wanted a better computer solely because i wasn't pleased with what I had and not because the unit was defective. I explained to her that was not the reason that i had brought it in. I went in with the intention of getting my computer fixed but was then told i could upgrade and would only have to pay the difference that was what i was excited to do. This is obviously an establishment that does not keep to their word or care about providing any kind of customer service let alone good customer service. This is what is wrong with retail today. They would like for you to shop local and then this is the kind of service you get.

I had a photographer's worst nightmare happen to me recently. My SD card failed during upload and I…read morelost about 1600 images from a client's wedding. A wedding is not something where you could just schedule a retake, and it was a really heart wrenching phone call I had to make to a bride and family. I felt so unprofessional and like a failure for this poor client. Did an online intake, received a phone call Christmas Eve morning to confirm everything. Great updates and proposal before providing a method of payment. By 30 Dec my replacement drive with 99.999% of the recovered data was in the way back to me. Do know if they needed clean rooms or the level of effort needed or the time required. Just know they took a inop drive and got the data off. Just like an lawyer, dentist, pilot or doctor sometimes you pay for experience and in my opinion it was worth for 30 years worth of files. While I hope to never need their services again, they are the only ones I would trust my digital footprint too. While not inexpensive you are paying for their knowledge and experience. If is was so simple and fast then you could do it yourself or maybe hire the "neighborhood geek" or you could pay the experts to professionally recover your important data. While my choice may not be the best for everyone glad I paid Gillware to do it. However, we will be installing a RAID 5 NAS as part of our new 3-2-1 back up plan.
